are the recipe books worth getting?

I must admit I've just been bodging things together and it seems to work out pretty well (I just check they're free foods) ..just made a killer vege curry (never made curry before either) ..yum all free too

Demented · 04/01/2005 16:42

Twiglett that's the bit I don't like! I felt very squirmy last night during it! Thought it was just me!

Loobz · 04/01/2005 17:59

Hee hee, you lot cheer me up - thought it was just me that didn't like that bit. Find it hard if you've had a bad week trying to be nice for everyone else. Also find it a bit squirmy if you've had a good week (Huh not that I've had very many of them recently! )
I go back tomorrow and think I'll have around 3 stones to lose. Was going to be good from yesterday when I went back to work but my boss made me eat chocolates - honest - he force fed me
No more excuses allowed from me folks. My broken foot, which happened 7 weeks ago, is no longer allowed as an excuse!!!
Motivated now - no more chocs in office - i've been giving them to anybody that has dared to enter our office - well had to get rid of them somehow!

Loobz · 04/01/2005 18:01

Demented, I am just along the road from you in Glenrothes. Work in Kirkcaldy.

joanneg · 04/01/2005 19:57

hi guys
does anybody know the lifeline online password? I have tried the last one I was given but as it was before christmas I think that it is out of date as it is not working. thanks

SPARKLER1 · 04/01/2005 21:26

We were talking about the clap and discussion thing at our group last night. There weren't many people that stayed to group last night and we mentioned to our consultant that it was because of that reason. She said she was going to try and work out some way that if people don't want to talk then they don't have to. She will probably get the lady who does the weigh-in to write a note on the form so she knows who to miss out.
I don't actually know the password for this week. I don't think my consultant gave it to us. I shall have to e-mail her and find out.

Have just had one of the new Mullerlight yogs for pudding. Has anyone tried them? There are two out: apple pie flavour (1 syn) and lemon cheesecake flavour (1/2 syn). Had the apple pie one and it was lush. They have cake pieces in (apparently - didn't find many!!! but still very yum!

OP posts:
Twiglett · 04/01/2005 21:29

aren't they set by the individual consultant though?

ours for last week which still works for me was leftovers if it helps

Twiglett · 04/01/2005 21:31

BTW I found a slimming world recipes site when I was looking for peskykids couscous cake recipe

let me know if you make anything from it .. I'm gonna try peskys cake

SPARKLER1 · 04/01/2005 21:49

yum Twiglett - they all sound rather good. Shall have to try a few of them. Tried the spaghetti with meatballs recipie tonight out of the recipie book I was given when I joined. They were really nice and very filling - I couldn't empty my plate!
Have been really good today - even have some syns left!!

Slurp!! Just finished off with a snack. Snack-a-jacks mini bites. Sour cream and sweet chilli flavour. Loads in a packet and 5 1/2syns. Sounds like a lot but I had plenty left over today.

Yoo hoo! I lost 2lbs over Christmas!! Which probably makes me a bit of a saddo. 1lb to go for club 10, then another 1st 6lbs. New options don't look too daunting, although our consultant (who isn't the most enthusiastic ambassador for SW) confessed she hadn't read the books or tried out the new plans herself yet.

lizibeth · 05/01/2005 10:27

Hi
Success Express is great, I lost 5lb last week and up to now 3lb this, I don't weigh in properly until thursday but I help at 3 classes so I'm always jumping on the scales.
good luck all, Heres to a slim 2005.
Liz

lizibeth · 05/01/2005 10:29

Hi Arabica
WELL DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
fantastic loss for Christmas. Congrats on your loss so far. You will be a target in no time,
Club 10 next week!
love Liz

DecafArabica · 05/01/2005 12:39

Er...I don't think I am gonna be at that target...cos now I have a (low syn) bun in the oven!! Wonder how much more I will be allowed to eat.

Twiglett · 05/01/2005 12:39

Congratulations Arabica

Just saw you an your 'broody' thread.. am I misunderstanding ??? are you???

Twiglett · 05/01/2005 12:40

Yipppeeee ... posts crossed

so so so happy for you Arabica

(I too am broody .. but will wait till DD is of a decent age to start wittering on about it )

DecafArabica · 05/01/2005 12:51

I am definitely going to keep up SW membership as last time I put on about 4st and got really uncomfortable.

SPARKLER1 · 05/01/2005 13:54

Wow! Congrats on the weight losses girls. Arabica fantastic news of the "bun"! How exciting. The new plan doesnt seem too bad - haven't sat and read the book right through yet just listened to consultant. Think I shall just stick to the original plan for now.
Aarabica I was chuffed to get to club 10 and get a free week (AND OF COURSE ANOTHER STICKER !!![GRIN]. We pay so much to go to group don't we so it's nice to get something given to us for a change!

That's a few of us in the area now Loobz. Also strange to think of you up there nursing your broken foot and my DH down here nursing his!

I didn't realise I would have to speak as well as clap! There were only five others at the class I was at on Monday, I thought they were just talkative types! Suppose I'll have to tell them how I found my first week etc!

Arabica, congratulations on the pregnancy! I take it you're a coffee fan?

Demented · 05/01/2005 15:56

Blood sugar's gone mad this afternoon. Felt like I could pass out when I came back from picking DS1 up from School. I think it's all the junk I've been eating the last few weeks!

ladymuck · 05/01/2005 16:21

Have you just started the Demented? I tried to go to a class just before Christmas only to find that it was going to be the leader's last class. Decided I would do it online for a few months until they found a new leader (they have various temporary ones for a couple of months).

Loobz · 05/01/2005 19:11

Congratulations Arabica! Hope you have a stress free pregnancy!

Demented · 05/01/2005 19:34

ladymuck, yes Monday was my first, it wasn't too bad, the plan looks really good and despite my flaky this afternoon I had fruit and a Mullerlight followed by enough dinner (pasta bake thing) to sink the titanic and I feel quite stuffed but have only used 2 syns all day. So far it seems too good to be true. Bit of a pain about your class not having a permanent leader just now, you'll need to keep us posted about the on-line version and how easy it is to follow.

I think it's great that there are so many free things, when I was following the WW points there were a couple of days when I ran out of points completely and was really miserable sitting at 9pm and the only thing I was allowed were vegetables or salad (although I have a huge appetite, I realise not everyone finds it so difficult to stick to the points), I also found the points for fruit very restrictive and I was often not eating enough fruit etc so I could have a treat later! Oh and I also luuuurrrve my cheese allowance, it's only 28g but would be enough for a slice of cheese on toast or cheese on top of pasta!!! hmmmm maybe I will have something to talk about next week if she asks me.

DecafArabica · 05/01/2005 20:14

Thanks for the good wishes everyone, I still can't quite believe it and want to re-do the test in case it was faulty for some reason. I think SW is a really good basic eating plan--you really can fill up on pasta and jacket potatoes and beans and still lose weight (although go easy on the beans or you might lose some friends, too).
Yes, I am a coffee addict. Last pregnancy I went off the taste of the strong black stuff, and ended up drinking milky lattes by the gallon. Hope that doesn't happen this time.
