Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

right...have lost on mine..but i think ill put mine down fortnightly seeing as hers are about 2-3lb less than mine, so may have lost more(3lb) or less.....

Aero · 07/07/2008 17:08

Good Lord RG - that's amazing - wow, well done that girl!

Thanks Ria. I'm not even going to step on my own scales as I think it will scare me! My lovely mum has bought me some new clothes today though as she thinks my old ones are hanging on me. (They are, but we're broke, so clothes for me is never at the top of the list). She was happy to buy them, even if they are too big for me in a few months, which is nice.

I was going to update the list with my latest loss, but I think I'll leave that 'til next week too. It's probably more accurate now. Thankfully my folks leave in the morning. Not that I want them to go home, but my waistline certainly does!!

justRia · 07/07/2008 19:46

That's nice of your mum aero, mine gave me a voucher for xmas but I can't bring myself to use it until I am a bit thinner!

I get all my clothes from charity shops and it's not the best way to encourage yourself at all, but needs must. I always mean to put a couple of £ in a jar in lieu of meeting fees, or save £1 for every lb I lose, towards new clothes, but it always gets sidelined for something else

That would be if I ever lost any weight of course

I have just had SW jambalaya (but made with chicken not quorn) for tea and it was scrummy.

justRia · 07/07/2008 20:07

, just spoke to my sis who is secretly on prescription diet pills - not reductil, something beginning with "c" I think - (secret as in don't etll DM) and she has lost 6lbin a week.

RGPargy · 07/07/2008 21:42

Thanx everyone!

having a bit of a treat day today. I've had a couple of glasses of wine, a beer, a cheesey brocolli pattie thing and i've got a Cadbury's Creme Egg Twister for later. Yum yum!!

Good idea about the £1 for every 1lb lost. I've just told DP that we are going to be doing this lol.

justRia · 07/07/2008 22:10

Mmm, treat day. Had JUST ONE glass of wine at DMs. Have got the late night munchies now but have nothing to have and can't be bothered to make SW chips.

Hi Ladies Im wondering if anyone knows this - Ive been up all night with bambino he is teething he has just turned 7 months old and he keeps putting his hands in his mouth and making this god awful nopise as to say im in pain, can i give him a paracetomol at night or will i have to check with a gp? Help as I think i will turn to crappy junk food as Im so tired for quick pick up fix and also i get weighed today x

RGPargy · 08/07/2008 08:56

Morning Jaz. your poor thing with DS teething. We haven't had this yet, although i'm sure it's only around the corner as DD is also 7 months but so far there's not been a single tooth in sight!

Anyway, my friends have all sworn by Ashton & Something or other Teething Powders. you can get them from chemists or Boots etc. They are like little wraps with powder inside and you just tip the powder into their mouths. Try it and see what happens! As i said, everyone i know who has tried them have all said how good they are so i reckon it's worth giving it a go! I am going to get some this week as i dont have anything in stock for teething and no doubt it will bite me on the arse in the middle of the night too!

Let me know how you get on and good luck with your weigh in!

justRia · 08/07/2008 10:10

Ashton & Parsons are cheaper. Teetha is good too but more expensive. And a dose of calpol/baby nurofen is fine too. Anything to keep you sane!!! Good luck with the weigh in.

I am having a pathetic self-pity sort of day, in light of my dsis's diet pills, which is silly. But I know the weight will fall off her and I'll get lots of "look at how well X is doing...", and I'll know why and they won't. And Dsis is competitive and in the past has lost 1lb more than me and rung up to say "you a big bigger than me aren't you, I'm getting rid of these clothes that are too big...". I know it's silly but it's just another hurdle to add to the battle.

RGPargy · 08/07/2008 10:33

Ria, just be smug in the knowledge that you are not cheating to lose weight, but are using your sheer willpower, which actually makes you stronger than her!! She is weaker and needs the tablets to keep her on the straight and narrow but you on the other hand, are the master of your own mind (and mouth!).

Dont let it get you down luv, it's really not worth it. It was very cruel of her to say about you being bigger (by a bloody pound!!). She sounds very much like my sister - are you sure we're not related?!! My sister always makes bitchy comments to me about one thing or another - a dig here, a dig there, so i understand how you feel.

Stand proud - you are doing SO well. xx

justRia · 08/07/2008 11:28

Thanks RG. I will try.

Families huh?

justRia · 08/07/2008 13:20

Phew, I'm glad I got back before anyone else posted (i have rushed back from work to do this.

I am a bit about my post this morning. I just want to say my issue is with my sis and her competitive nature, not the slimming pills (If my GP offered me some I would bite her hand off - and spit it out of course). I hope I haven't offended you Pink and anyone else. Sorry.

Must go collect my DCs from grannies!

RGPargy · 08/07/2008 14:31

Dont apologise Ria, competitive siblings can be a pain and so therefore my post stands.

Ags · 08/07/2008 14:37

Oh poor you Ria!I'm sure no-one will be offended. We are all just doing what we gotta do to get this blasted weight off aren't we?

RG, WOW! That is fantastic. You must be thrilled.

I had a little loss this week, just half a pound but am very happy and back on the straight and narrow again.

PinkChick · 08/07/2008 19:52

"just be smug in the knowledge that you are not cheating to lose weight, but are using your sheer willpower, which actually makes you stronger than her!! She is weaker and needs the tablets to keep her on the straight and narrow but you on the other hand, are the master of your own mind (and mouth!). "...aherm..RGi am not cheating cheeky minx!!!!! {grin]

Seriously LOL and JR dont worry, as Rg said im one of these people who need a massive hand to get motivated, some of you can lose lots yourselves and thats something to be proud of
and my friend (i think i mentioned about being her bridesmaid and her taking pics of all the bridesmaids...EXEPT me!)..sent me an email few days ago..shes on SW and when ever i mail her i ask how she's getting along, she knows im on reductil too...so i get message back saying oh yes i lost x this week have now lost Y so am well on my way to losing Z for holiday..fab eh?...........and thats it!..this is the umpteenth email as well as speaking to her on recent nights out when i have mentioned her losing weight and diets etc and she hasnt said a word to me, despite me lsoing 19lb in 4 weeks and even i can tell difference now!..even her mum was talking about slimming and while sat there all together i said id got these tabs and mum asked how i was doing and told her and not one of them said oh thats good well done!....flipping sick of being the only one who shows an interst in other people!(sorry that excludes you lot, we all help oneanother here, i know i can get loads of support here)

RGPargy · 08/07/2008 21:41

Sorry Pink, you know what i mean tho, i was trying to put things into perspective for Ria.

How annoying about your friend etc!! I'm sure it's probably just jealousy and that's why they are not mentioning it. Honestly, some people!!

justRia · 08/07/2008 21:42

phew, I'm glad you aren't pissed off with me pink

at your friend

I am not having a good day, but aim to be back on it tomorrow. My motivation is crap, my willpower is weak, and I've lost interest in cooking again.

justRia · 08/07/2008 21:54

I wasn' trying to stir things up for you either RG, I just know how easily an innocent rant can turn into a witch hunt on here. Thank goodness we are all sensible, level headed and supportive

RGPargy · 09/07/2008 09:18

lol Ria, i know you weren't!

Now get back in that kitchen and do some cooking!!

PinkChick · 09/07/2008 09:19

LOl, ive had worse said 'and meant' about me on ehre..dont worry chick

im struggling at minute..not eating lots of crap, just not eating much, kitchen still in disarray(sp) and grabbing what i can, which tends to be museli which is killing me although i love it, i think Too much fibre is not good!..need to actually eat more!, think ill pop up to tesco and get a fresh pasta in tom sauce salad thingummybob?!

RGPargy · 09/07/2008 09:28

I love museli Pink, but it doesn't really like me!! It bloats me out and gives me a really uncomfortable gut!

The pasta thing sounds nice!

PinkChick · 09/07/2008 09:30

Makes me fart break wind !

RGPargy · 09/07/2008 09:46

Well, i didn't want to be so bold.... lol...

PinkChick · 09/07/2008 10:01
