Determined to lose 1.5 stone by July!

Getfits · 04/05/2024 18:23

Enough is enough..I need to lose 1.5 stone and to keep it off! My goal is to look and feel better, and to be fitter too.

So I’m only 5ft 2 and have been 9 stone for most of my adult life but after constant takeaways, home baking, lack of sleep and inactivity during lockdown, my weight crept up close to 13 stone / 83kg by the summer of 2021 and my body fat percentage was close to 40% which put me in the obese category.

I managed to lose a fair bit of weight using various methods (SW, 1:1, running,
walking, calorie counting, IF) and I was down to 11 stone /70Kg by late 2023. But over the last year it’s been hovering around 11 stone with not much change which has been frustrating.

The past month or so my weight’s actually been creeping up, the latest is I’ve just came back from a 2 week holiday and weighed myself - I’m 11 stone 8!

This is the heaviest I’ve been in over a year I think and I could see it in my holiday pics :/

I want to nip this in the bud by actively starting to get my weight down
towards 10 stone instead of continuing to head back in the direction to 13 stone.

I’m going to post at least every Monday setting out my intentions for diet and exercise and posting my weight/measurements update. Anyone in?

Will also be a good space to share fitness videos and simple healthy recipes!

I really want to do this too. My will power is rubbish!

Getfits · 04/05/2024 18:43

Yay! Welcome @onemorerose We can do this!

I have a sweet tooth and I also struggle with willpower but I’m determined. My back is just getting wider and I’m not getting any younger 😌

Following for motivation!!!!!

70sShmeventies · 04/05/2024 18:58

Well done for being proactive! I’ll join the thread! 5’9 and managed to go from 12st5 to 13,11 in 4 months after a looooot of stress eating. 16:8, low carbs and couch to 5k and I’m at 13’4 after 2 weeks. It will be slower after the first flush of ‘de-bloating’ weight loss but I’ve really felt it health wise so I’m determined!

Getfits · 04/05/2024 19:09

Hello and welcome @Foxymoxy68

@70sShmeventies it’s all
too easy to put on weight with stress eating!
Congrats on the recent weight loss and starting C25K . I did about half of that last summer, might try again this summer!

I need to follow too as this could very well be me. Exhausted, feeling so low, can’t stop drinking colas and eating or perk myself up 🥺

Getfits · 04/05/2024 19:20

Sorry to hear @Bex268 I don’t know about you but this constant grey sky & drizzle hasn’t helped my mood or my commitment to walking!

Hoping to take advantage of the spring/summer to kick start a better lifestyle and that we can all find some useful
tips & motivation from this thread!

And even when we don’t feel motivated, we still find the discipline to stick to our commitment.

I’m resisting the temptation to eat all my holiday chocolate with the knowledge that I’ll be weighing myself tomorrow 😆

I’m recovering from a calf muscle injury so I’m going to be mainly focused on diet but I do want to re-start doing 2 x 15 minute low impact exercise routines OR walking 30 minutes every day. Hopefully I’ll be able to do more soon.

I really like these Lucy W-R videos https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_vvOSsym4Bo&list=PLMcIqWDasMoY6NM7oHDXG6fZ0qJPmOPaZ&pp=iAQB

Right - I'm in!

5'5"
11st 5lb (will confirm this later)
Goal: 9st 7lb

I've piled the weight on (again) over the past 2 years since I got a desk based job and am frustrated with myself.

Are we weighing in tomorrow?

Getfits · 05/05/2024 15:57

Welcome @GypsophiliaandCarnations to the 1.5 stone weight loss gang!

I know how you feel, pre lockdown part of my weight gain was caused from going from working with kids to working in a desk job. Things just escalated during the pandemic since I started WFH.

yeah - weigh in tomorrow! I always do it first thing in the morning for consistency and that’s when I’m lightest 😌

I don't have a weight problem at all but I wanted to feel a bit flatter round the tummy.

I was constantly walking past the fridge and getting chocolate bars out. Haven't bought chocolate in two months. No crisps in the house now too.

I snack on carrots and celery. I've cut out sugar from drinks. Stopped buying latte's and gone to tea. 12 calories a cup.

Water with my porridge every morning instead of milk saves 100 calories a bowel.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 05/05/2024 17:13

You can do this, especially if you're motivated.

I've more than a stone and a half to lose. I've got an accountability thread on here and I've nearly completed week three of my 17 week plan (we've a holiday in a glamorous location booked after that). I'm already over 3kg down - official weigh in is tomorrow morning. I've set my calories at 260 below my TDEE and am allowing a bit of flexibility. Macros 40% protein, 35% carbs and 25% fat.

Stress and tiredness/not sleeping are big factors for me. I was eating so much crap on top of normal meals and drinking quite a bit of wine. Lunch is my biggest meal and I eat a lot of veg. I find it easiest to eat pretty much the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day, just make sure it's tasty and there's variety on the plate. I have seeded wholemeal bread and usually have wholegrain rice with dinner.

jobessieandme · 05/05/2024 17:20

I'll join you! I'm trying to lose 22lbs before my birthday in July. I'm aiming for 1200 calories a day with exercise on 3 days a week.

I'm one week in so far and 3lbs down, so on track so far! I'm motivating myself by getting out all the beautiful clothes I no longer fit in to!

We can do this 💪

spanieleyes22 · 05/05/2024 17:23

Can I join too. I have a lot to lose about 5 stone but a stone and a half seems nice and manageable by July. I have a wedding in August in France and I'm dreading the heat and the clothes . Good luck everyone. My hardest time is after dinner so I'm hoping the bright evenings will help me go for a walk instead of stuffing my face on the sofa!

BirthdayRainbow · 05/05/2024 17:25

Hi. I'd like to join. How are we doing this? I feel I need orders.

I lost 2 stone after discovering I was poorly then another 1.5 stone through intermittent fasting and running. Was nearly at goal weight when I broke two bones and then was poorly for three months. Put on 1.5 stone. Would like to lose two. Still not back to running every other day, currently poorly again, but hoping to get back properly in a fortnight to running.

I will not give up chocolate!

12 stone 2.
5 foot four ish.

GypsophiliaandCarnations · 05/05/2024 17:29

👋 to those who've joined after me! 👋

I know how you feel, pre lockdown part of my weight gain was caused from going from working with kids to working in a desk job

Same!

And my company have announced that from 1st May we're going down to one day in the office so I won't even be walking to the bus stop 3 times a week!

NerrSnerr · 05/05/2024 17:42

Another one joining too. I am 5ft 1 and 2 weeks ago weighed 12st5. Managed to get it down to 12 stone exactly but I'd like it to be much lower by the time the really warm weather comes.

I also appear to have skipped size 14 in trousers and have jumped from a 12 to a 16 and I really don't want to buy new clothes. I have a wardrobe of size 10s and 12s waiting for me.

I have decided to jump in the deep end and have registered to do a half marathon in October. I have run all my life apart from the last 10 years when I had kids so how hard can it be....

Aw that sounds nasty 2 broken bones. It's all relative isn't it. I'm about your height and would love to be your weight!!!

Well done on starting your exercise and weight loss journey! 3 pounds is a great start and you’ll feel better for it as well been able to fit into your clothes again.

I'll join.
I'm 5 ft 8 and 13st 3. I'd like to lose a stone at least by the end of June. I'm on holiday then.
Gets harder with age. I'm post menopausal.

hello and welcome! Yes it’s a good idea to split weight loss into milestones, I had 4 stone to lose initially.

I’m starting to drink decaf or herbal tea in the evenings after my last meal and brushing my teeth early to try and resist late night snacks!

I've gone from 59kg to 54 in 6 weeks, same sort of height!

Welcome ☺️

Every Monday we can do a weigh-in and share our weight/measurement update as well as what we’re planning to focus on for the week ahead in terms of diet and exercise eg. “This week I’ll be doing IF and swimming twice a week” and of course feel free to post throughout the week, doesn’t just have to be a Monday! I’ll be sharing simple recipes, exercise videos etc throughout the week too.

yeah giving up chocolate isn’t for everyone!

That sucks about the broken bones, hopefully you’ll be fully recovered soon!

Yeah I’ve always said one of the worst things about weight gain is about not being able to fit into your clothes.

How exciting - I did a 10K many moons ago but haven’t yet worked myself up to a half marathon. Good luck with that!
