Determined to lose 1.5 stone by July!

Enough is enough..I need to lose 1.5 stone and to keep it off! My goal is to look and feel better, and to be fitter too.

So I’m only 5ft 2 and have been 9 stone for most of my adult life but after constant takeaways, home baking, lack of sleep and inactivity during lockdown, my weight crept up close to 13 stone / 83kg by the summer of 2021 and my body fat percentage was close to 40% which put me in the obese category.

I managed to lose a fair bit of weight using various methods (SW, 1:1, running,
walking, calorie counting, IF) and I was down to 11 stone /70Kg by late 2023. But over the last year it’s been hovering around 11 stone with not much change which has been frustrating.

The past month or so my weight’s actually been creeping up, the latest is I’ve just came back from a 2 week holiday and weighed myself - I’m 11 stone 8!

This is the heaviest I’ve been in over a year I think and I could see it in my holiday pics :/

I want to nip this in the bud by actively starting to get my weight down
towards 10 stone instead of continuing to head back in the direction to 13 stone.

I’m going to post at least every Monday setting out my intentions for diet and exercise and posting my weight/measurements update. Anyone in?

Will also be a good space to share fitness videos and simple healthy recipes!

Please may I join too? I weighed in at 10,13 on Monday and decided enough was enough! I’m aiming to drink lots of water, keep a strict eye on the calories and exercise more. A stone and a half off by July might be a bit of a stretch, but I’m going to give it a go!

Cavilicious · 07/05/2024 22:11

Evening all,
Hope it's not too late to join as well. I started last week and have lost 3lbs (probably water weight... but I'm taking it). Still at least 12lbs to go. Holiday in August and in my wisdom I booked an adventure holiday with the teenagers in Croatia. So the excess chub has got to go!!!
Have quit refused sugar and flour, it's made a big difference to my appetite, hope it lasts...

Cavilicious · 07/05/2024 22:18

Sorry should be refined sugar not refused.

Pinkvici22 · 07/05/2024 22:25

Hey all

Had a good two days sticking to the plan - I am feeling hungry in the fasting window…hope that eases!

We booked a summer holiday fir August so that is now a more incentive - I’ve got lovely summer clothes I want to get in to and there’s no way I can get in a bikini looking like I currently do!

Tantastic12 · 07/05/2024 23:09

Hi everyone - count me in too please! Started last week and have lost 2lbs. That’s me at 12st 6lbs now and only 5ft 2 so I’ve a long way to go but feeling very determined. I spent all my teenage years and 20’s thinking I was overweight but when I look back on photos I was far from it! I’m 35 now and the pounds have just creeped on steadily. I’ve done all sorts of exercise over the years - most recently couch to 5k and didn’t lose a single pound so I know it’s my evenings watching tv and drinking wine/crisps that’s the problem.

8 stone 6 today! Never believed I would get below 9 stone, never mind 8 1/2 stone!
Exercise: 30 mins on rebounder in the morning before work and a half hour lunchtime walk.
Yesterday's food:
Breakfast: skimmed milk decaf latte, porridge made with skimmed milk, with blueberries and almonds.
Lunch: salad with cucumber, tomato, 3 olives, raw beetroot and ginger sauerkraut, olive oil, ACV, 1 slice jarlsberg, an orange
Snack: redbush tea, a few peanuts and 4 squares 85% chocolate
Dinner: wholewheat pasta with butter beans, brocolli, pesto, pine nuts and parmesan (small portion with lots of brocolli, DH had lots of pasta).

Was so tempted to get some ice cream from the freezer but managed to stop myself. Also felt like some wine but resisted the temptation.

Alainlechat · 08/05/2024 07:15

@shearwater2 you are a similar weight and height to me and I have already lost a stone and a half. My measurements are more than yours though. I have all my weight in the middle and skinnier arms and legs!

I am a comfortable size 14 now and when I get into the healthy bmi range I should be into the size 12's.

I am going to hiit classes at the gym and doing the couch to 10k and can actually see my shape changing. But not there yet.

Aiming to get to my goal ahead of a 10k race I have signed up for in July.

@Netcam wow that's fantastic
Can I ask how tall are you? I'm only 5ft1 and 9 stone 4. Although 8 something isn't that far away numbers wise, it feels a long way if that makes any sense...

I'm 5ft 3, age 54. I agree being short means we are having to lose a higher percentage of our weight than taller people. I tried really hard a couple of years ago to lose weight for my wedding and got from 9 1/2 stone to 9 stone. I didn't get any further and had put it all back on again 6 months later. So I'm amazed that I've got so far this time.

If my weight was more evenly distributed I think it wouldn't be too bad.
But I'm more than pear shaped, probably a bowling pin is more accurate!! So to get better proportions I have to be towards the lower bmi range.
Which rebounder do you use? Just been looking at them, they sound fun which may help...

Faduckssake · 08/05/2024 07:57

I'm finally at my target weight after being 3 stone over it for 15 years. Tried WW SW etc and slowly dropped a bit here and there, but often regained and nothing worked long term. Thought I'd try 16:8 fasting and dropped the last 1.5st in two months. Still at my target weight 6 months later.

It's a Bellicon. I like it, I stick to it because it's just there, ready at home, and good for all weather. I'm pear shaped too, most of my excess fat looks like it is in my tummy, bottom and thighs. I agree about the lower BMI range, same for me, and because my frame is small.

Cavilicious · 08/05/2024 08:01

Thanks @Netcam going to look at those now

Picoloangel · 08/05/2024 08:17

I’m in! I started a new job last year which has made going to the gym more difficult. I just can’t seem to maintain my motivation to keep going which is v v unlike me. I also keep getting injured when I do exercise which is really dispiriting.

I tried Slimpod but it feels a bit like a cult and there are some horrible people in the FB Group. I used to do IF but when I went back to it recently I felt dreadful and think I wasn’t eating enough.

For those who want to work out at home I highly recommend Heather Robertson. She has a workout for everyone!

I need to lose about a stone or a bit less. This is just what I need. Thanks OP.

Cavilicious · 08/05/2024 08:01

Thanks @Netcam going to look at those now

Just for info, I ended getting the bigger diameter (can't remember exact size) and was glad I did, I wouldn't want it any smaller. I also got the folding legs which are really handy if I want to stand it against the wall occasionally. It was expensive, but I cancelled my gym membership so in the long term has cost less. And I think I use it more than the gym because it's at home. I don't bother with the videos, they were good for learning how to use it, but since then I've just done my own thing on it. I treat it as thinking time before work in the morning!

Hi everyone, can I join you please

I have been starting to do something about my weight at the start of each month for too long now and really need to do something to make me more accountable

I am 5”5, weighed in at 12 stone this morning and was 40 earlier this year

i changed jobs last year from one which was very active to now sitting at a desk for most of the working day and often from home. I also passed my driving test this year so now walk much less than I used to

my biggest problem is unhealthy snacks, I think nothing to eating a share bar of chocolate at my desk in the afternoon

I am not calorie counting, at least for now, but am trying to have as little added sugar in my diet as o can and trying to make healthy choices

I am having strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and banana topped with plain soya yogurt and a sprinkle of home made granola for breakfast each day
a ham salad sandwich on gluten free bread for lunch then a regular home cooked evening meal
I am having melon/apple with peanut butter as snacks and drinking more water

I am upping my exercise, made easier by this better weather and went for my first run in a long time yesterday

i have a holiday booked for mid July and would love to feel healthier by then

Doingitat40 · 08/05/2024 09:29

Forgot to say, I think my ideal weight would be around 10 stone 4lb but will go on how I feel and the fit of my clothes which are currently way too tight

NerrSnerr · 08/05/2024 09:34

Feeling tired and unmotivated at the moment but am plodding on. My husband is away a lot this month so have little time for the gym due to work and young children but doing a yoga class this morning. I'm just trying to stay in a calorie deficit and when I can get back out more in June I plan to run three times a week.

OwwOwwLowFat · 08/05/2024 09:54

I’d like to join you. I’ve gone from 92.5kg to 87.5 and now I’m stuck.

Im focussing on increasing my exercise with walking, strength training and pilates, and I’ve signed up to the gym this week to up the pace. My main issue is food, I do love my food.

shearwater2 · 08/05/2024 12:07

First day of 1400 cals felt fine, except it was a low carb day and I did feel slightly keto-ish as I did on Fast 800. I had a three egg omelette with beans for breakfast, salon & lentil salad for lunch and sea bass with new potatoes and veg for dinner. A protein yoghurt as an afternoon snack.

Today I have been to the gym, mostly a weights session of about 40 minutes but also 20 minutes of cardio then had a ham & cheese croissant and latte for 475 calories - don't want to be too low carb, especially after the gym! Lunch will be Subway chicken & bacon salad box and dinner will be sausages mash and green veg, careful portions, have a cup a soup handy this afternoon if I get peckish - all coming in at just under 1400 for the day.

Cherryblossom6754 · 08/05/2024 13:49

Hi, can I join please?
I have about 4 stone to lose but breaking it up so 1.5st by July is my aim. I have a holiday in July too which is my motivation!
I weighed in at 14st 12 on Monday and am 5'7.
I have started doing an extra dog walk a day, an excersize class once a week and bought a kettlebell and mat to do home workouts.
Also trying to cut down on the snacks and biscuits!

Onceuponatime46 · 08/05/2024 13:59

I’m in!
Bought some scales yesterday because I need to be honest with myself. Nearly 13 stone. FFS! 5’4”. Tight UK14.

I have downloaded MFP again to track calories. I know I eat too much!
will increase exercise, stick to 1400 calls and hope for the best.

Bloody perimenopause isn’t helping!

Doingitat40 · 08/05/2024 17:36

After only posting earlier this morning for the first time to say I would do it for more accountability I think it only right that I should confess a box of snickers ice creams fell into my shopping when I just nipped to the shops

I blame the sunshine (and my clearly lacking willpower) part of me is saying that everything in moderation is ok and the other part of me is disappointed I succumbed so easily

for context I ate berries with soya yogurt for breakfast, a ham salad sandwich and apple for lunch and am making fish and salad with roast sweet potato for my tea so it’s been a very healthy day overall

YouBelongWithMe · 08/05/2024 18:56

I'm still here. I had a good day of healthy eating. Feel terrible with flue like symptoms so think I'll be going to bed early so no chance of eating anything I shouldn't!
