Does anyone fancy joining a support thread for losing the final 10-14lb? I've lost over 20lb now, and since hitting the overweight/healthy weight borderline it's become so much harder! I've been gaining and losing the same 2lb for almost a fortnight. I'm doing calorie counting, eating healthier, drinking lots of water, and walking more.

SW: 11 stone 4
CW: 9 stone 10-11
GW: about 9 stone or slightly under

I have an event in early June and I'd really like to be comfortably around 9 stone 5 by then. I would also like to get back into my pre-Covid clothes!

I’ve lost some of my holiday water retention so at least I am not far off where I started now 😂

Greentomatoes21 · 14/05/2024 09:58

I have been 9.7 for what seems like weeks and weeks, despite trying hard. Switched from keto to low calorie and finally saw 9.6 on Saturday morning...then had some Chinese on Sat night and was up to 9.9 due to water retention. Erg! Anyway, Tues today and back to 9.7, haven't yet seen 9.6 since Sat morning 🥲

PrimroseYellow1 · 14/05/2024 12:26

I think you did well to only gain 1kg @Menora on your week off. I’ve been 9st 6lbs for a few days. Not eating much but scales are not moving. Did the dreaded old clothes try on, I am a comfortable size 12 in most brands, my six Toast dresses are too big, a size 10 in a few brands. I can wear about half my wardrobe now. My tummy is still a bit big and my waist is 32 inches. Last summer I was really restricted in my clothes so I am really happy.

Menora · 14/05/2024 12:34

@PrimroseYellow1 thanks! I did a lot of walking, nearly 100,000 steps 😑 so I think I held onto water but didn’t gain too much! I then had a bit of a boozy day one of them but then got plenty of sleep and back to it now.

I still have 10lbs to lose the same as when I started on this thread 😂😂😂

braveandwellbehaved · 14/05/2024 20:11

Welcome @ridingfreely!

10st 3 today yippee! Yesterday did a lot of walking and cycling, general movement not just working out. I think that’s key for me! It’s hard to do with an office job though and living in the suburbs where everything is a cars journey away. I walk our dogs but they’re old and small and don’t go very far 😂 I guess I do runabout with the kids on the weekend but yeah…

I was wondering if everyone wanted to write up why they are losing the weight and what they want to achieve other than the weight loss goal- some of us (myself included) might not achieve the goal we set out to achieve when we started posting but it’s the long game as we have been trying to lose this weight / well for me it’s been YEARS!

For myself - I’d like to achieve physical enjoyment and confidence. I’ve got a small frame for my whole childhood and teenager years I was the fat friend. The as a young adult I learnt how to diet and went up and down and stayed relatively slim until I had my DD. Then I just packed it on and was bigger than ever snd it STUCK. I just feel this weight loss has been a huge gift to myself and these last few pounds are the vanity pounds that feel sooo necessary to make the whole damn thing worth it. I want to put A nice pair of jeans and a top for a mum day and feel attractive to my husband. I want to feel good when I go shopping. I want to be healthy long term so I can be around for my grandchildren if I’m lucky enough to get any.

braveandwellbehaved · 15/05/2024 12:08

10 st 3 again this morning.

Sorry I feel like I'm spamming a bit at the moment. Hope everyone is alright.

Something seems to have finally clicked and I wish I could say what it was but honestly I couldn't tell you. I do thing just a reduction in the amount of processed carbs and the weight is finally starting to come off. I've been stuck at 10 st 6 for... maybe 1.5 years almost (up and down a few pounds)I weighed this morning expecting a gain just because I'd eaten three full meals and had some chocolate (and that's the pattern that I've been seeing especially for last 6 months) but it's coming off. It's so gratifying and such a relief to see the scales start to responding to the effort! I also think that now it's starting to come off a bit I'm more motivated to move, not overeat and just have a 'f - it' day.

I also think I thought it was later in May that it is - I'm hoping I can keep at it and get 4 lbs off before 6th of June - or as close to it as possible.

PrimroseYellow1 · 15/05/2024 13:38

Well done @braveandwellbehaved . I have found sometimes eating more food and even food that’s ‘forbidden’ for a couple of days, and then dieting again can give weight loss a kick.

I have avoided lots of social situations due to my weight gain, I intend to catch up with some friends I’ve missed. Like you I want to feel attractive to my DH, he is in pretty good shape, works out so it’s nice to keep up. I enjoy my body more now it’s less fat, just feel better overall. I couldn’t get up from the floor from my knees easily when I was 2 stone heavier, now it’s not a problem.

Alwaystired94 · 15/05/2024 15:26

continuing the (finally) downward trend. now done to 144lbs! LOWEST i've got to since i was a teen....

SW: 15st 13lbs
CW: 10st 4Lbs
GW: 9st 8lbs

PrimroseYellow1 · 15/05/2024 15:32

That’s amazing @Alwaystired94 , do you feel better for it? You’ve lost a lot. Congratulations!

Alwaystired94 · 15/05/2024 15:36

PrimroseYellow1 · 15/05/2024 15:32

i do! i feel so much more confident and happy in myself now. i turn 30 this month and i've got plans to wear a dress i would never have worn before

PrimroseYellow1 · 15/05/2024 15:48

Ah that’s lovely @Alwaystired94 .

Gummibearos · 15/05/2024 15:58

Some great results on this thread! Very inspiring.

@PlateauArgh you’re a similar height to me - I’m 5ft 2 and my starting weight is 11stone. Can I ask how long did it take you to get to around or below 10 stone?

Menora · 16/05/2024 08:19

Got under 72kg for the first time in a long time (2012!😂)
what I was most pleased about was my BMI being in the 25’s now!

PlateauArgh · 16/05/2024 10:45

@braveandwellbehaved Well done on getting to 10 stone 3! It's such a good feeling to beat a plateau.

@Menora Congratulations!

I'm on the 8th day of being at 9 stone 7 now, so hoping for 9 stone 6 soon.

@Gummibearos It's kind of hard to say as I had a few long periods of falling off the wagon. I started dieting almost exactly a year ago, and made it to 10 stone in January. This is the graph of my weight loss - I usually only update it when I lose weight, so the flatlines show where I just stopped bothering and wasn't weighing myself.

Gummibearos · 17/05/2024 00:40

that’s helpful to see it in a graph - thanks for sharing @PlateauArgh

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/05/2024 06:27

Well done for your losses! I’m stuck on the plateau, I’m bobbing around 10.9-10.11 and just cannot get lower, it’s so annoying! And really boring! 🥱

I’ve considered a few options: giving up, eating more, eating less, doing a few fasting days, cutting carbs/sugar… really not sure. I’ve also considered hiding the scales for a few weeks and just having a really strict few weeks of proper calorie counting. I think the problem recently is that in the nice weather, just a few extras crept in and it’s holding me back.

AhBiscuits · 17/05/2024 06:55

1.2lbs off for me this week. Now 10st 10 and 5lbs from my goal.

Tindrum · 17/05/2024 08:16

@braveandwellbehaved your story is similar to mine. I was a chubby kid much to my mum’s horror. Then thanks to her removing my plate mid meal and putting me on diets in my teens I was pretty average weight wise. Same in my 20’s though constantly on diets and viewing myself as overweight (I wasn’t). After my first kids my weight increased - I just couldn’t shift it like my friends seemed to effortlessly do. Constant yo-yo diets later menopause and lockdown combined and I ended up 53 5”3 and 14.7lbs.

Motivation for diets was wanted to be healthy - I had a gallstone attack that was really quite awful and I could tell I was heading somewhere worse. I also wanted to be able to look forward to social events rather than doing anything I could to get out of them. To finally wear some of the clothes I’d bought on other diets intending to slim into them. To walk down the office confidently rather than hoping nobody was looking. To stop ‘oversized’ being the search word when buying tops. I’m sure you get the gist.

Very grateful to be where I am now.

Tindrum · 17/05/2024 08:18

Lol I meant to say 14.7 stone 🙄

braveandwellbehaved · 20/05/2024 09:30

@PrimroseYellow1 You're so right about eating 'forbidden' foods and getting a loss. I was stuck at 10 st 4 again all week. Yesterday I cracked and ate an entire packet of chocolate rolls (Colin Caterpillars) and some chocolate...and today 10 st 2? Madness! Sorry to hear you missed out on friends due to weight gain - well done catching up now. Those kind of things make food less exciting I think - when life is fulfilling in other ways.

@Alwaystired94 Hurray we are at very similar points and aiming for similar goals. Your dress sounds lovely -so great to have those specific non scale victories in our minds to carry us through

@Menora Congratulations on your weight and BMI Yippeeee!

@PlateauArgh That graph is so inspiring - and amazing to see the progressing despite falling of the wagon/ that we are playing the long game and that if you keep going despite falling off the wagon (whereas previously I'd just give up because 'nothing works') you can see that immense downward trend of wow you must feel so proud of yourself- well I hope you do at least!!!!

@AhBiscuits Congrats on your loss - soooo close to your goal!

@Tindrum thanks for sharing your story was so interesting and inspiring and I really related - v similar stories where probably well intentioned mothers making us hyper-aware of our weight led to disordered eating which can lead to weight gain. And the body dysmorphia - so horrible! I think back to days of yo-yo dieting and just never wanna go back there again, but it's hard to watch the scale barely move despite the herculean effort it takes to avoid the soothing vibes of sweets! It's like I'm relearning how to lose weight in a non disordered way.

So 10 st 2 after basically breaking the diet...So pleased though and given me perspective that I shouldn't give up just because the scale is to stagnant. I need to remember that in my 20s I would starve myself to drop weight quickly and that's just not an option for me these days - and it's pointless because it just comes back on. Anyways I'm pleased and I want to keep it going this week. Next aim is 10 st 1 this week. If I can get into the 9st bracket in early June I will be sooooo excited!

Re exercise - all I do is strength training - do you do cardio? I feel like introducing some into my routine would really help? It's hard to know. I still haven't measured myself and I think I really should as clothes fit well. Though I also feel as a woman my abdomen goes up and down so much.

Tindrum · 21/05/2024 08:30

@braveandwellbehaved funny you should mention cardio. I’ve been doing resistance 3-4 a week and walking dog. I really don’t enjoy cardio and felt it was better sticking to something I don’t dread. Last week I thought I’d give it a go though, just a Lucy Wyndham 20 min session, but twisted my knee half way through!! So moral is, be careful or stick with what you know.

Menora · 21/05/2024 11:38

I’m still the same weight and nursing a load of pulled muscles so I am just walking until they are better.

braveandwellbehaved · 23/05/2024 09:21

10 st 2 still - I'm so pleased to maintain this weight this long. I had a work party and ate a significant amount and drank beer, but I was measured only couple beers, didn't go back for seconds etc) obviously it's paying off as I'm keeping the 4 lbs off. I know the next pound might be harder as I actually haven't been that weight since before my second daughter was born. So ready to be there though, I'm determined!

Any reccs for high protein snacks on the go (from supermarkets essentially?

@Tindrum haha! I love Lucy!!! Sorry about your knee though that's so annoying- is it ok now?

@Menora Hope you feel better soon!

Tindrum · 23/05/2024 09:52

@braveandwellbehaved yes all good now thanks, though sticking to my fave Pahla B instead! Must feel great for you to be a pound off! Amazing stuff :)

Mynewnameis · 23/05/2024 17:31

I was a 1lb up today so trying not to press the self destruct (eat and drink button). I had a calorie decifit yesterday but had an unhealthy lunch. So I imagine its water retention etc.
