I need to lose a stone. I can’t be stout any more. I tend to do well with a bit of daily accountability so anyone up for a weight loss buddy to commiserate, support and obsess with?! Starting Monday obvs. 😬

@Pickingmyselfup I completely relate to the natural pear shape/wide hip bones. I'm sorry you've had critical comments. In my opinion it is the height of rudeness to comment negatively on someone's body and I always think less of people who do it.

I actually had a boob job as I was flat as a pancake, and even though my shoulders are still much narrower than my hips it has helped a lot. (the things we admit when we're anonymous!)

The bums in fashion thing is honestly true. I was chatting to a young (25) male friend of mine about fitness etc and he was sympathising with women who are unhappy with their bodies and the example he gave was if they wished their bums were bigger 😮

Hope you recover from your illness soon.

Aileen1992 · 27/04/2024 13:24

also admitting anonymously I do have big hips but lack in the bum department lol and I wish I had more of one because I have had family comments too saying about my “flat ass” 🤣

I have quite a lot of stretch marks and lose skin on my stomach from carrying big babies, this makes me so uncomfortable and honestly feeling low! Would love a tummy tuck..(need to win the lottery first) also the reason I like to keep my weight low because my stomach area is exaggerated if I have weight on.

its so easy to tell someone to love their body, but is so hard to actually love your own!
x

So did my mindful thing today. Recorded on my app! But will also update here too as we are the obsessed crew!

lunch salad - ate half (divided my portion mentally before eating. ) Checked in halfway and was full. Ate mindfully somewhat.

Snack Mindless eating after a nap. Didn’t use any of my tools. Woke up starving and hungry from a nap and ate biscuits and chocolate.

A Snack mindful. Half of my leftover salad

Dinner new pots crusty bread coleslaw bacon. Very small portion and left a few potatoes. Was delicious. Could have done with being more mindful. I guess it’s like a muscle.

My husband has lost 2 stone with mindful eating and g he as been surprisingly helpful with everything. One thing that stuck has been he said he no longer looks at meals as the time to fill up but they every time he eats is to enjoy food and get to the point of just beyond not being hungry.

1/2 bacon bap lunch
protien bar snack
chicken breast & salad
mini protien pancakes
Maltesers

still came in around 1300 cal

started fasting just after dinner again , not allowing myself to eat loads just because “it’s the weekend”
Feeling hopeful now I can keep it up with this mind frame 🤞

It’s usually my excuse! So no more excuses! Want to finish this week well just to prove to myself I can do it again!

have a roast planned for tomorrow which I’m looking forward to!

Morning everyone, hope you all had good weekends!

SW: 16st 13lb
CW: 16st 7lb
GW: 13st

after a troublesome first week I’m now not feeling hungry between meals and my portion sizes seems to have regulated, so the intermittent fasting seems to be working for me now, I really want to stick to it this time and this group is really helping.

does anyone have experience of meal prepping? I did quite a bit of research yesterday and think it would suit me so am going to start today after shopping at the weekend, I think making and portioning it in advance will help me make better food choices and eat more veg, I wondered if anyone had done it before and had any tips?

GreatBritishBeakOff · 29/04/2024 13:50

Will report back later @sandyhappypeople !

@sandyhappypeople well done on your loss!!

i have tried meal prepping .. but there’s only so much time you have to make for meals that will only last a few days and I find freezing some of them isn’t great.

soup is good to freeze , loads of veg!
chicken curry also and then I just get pre portioned micro rice, so just freeze the Chicken curry part.

sorry that’s not much help lol x

GreatBritishBeakOff · 29/04/2024 19:34

@sandyhappypeople thats an amazing loss!

Mindful eating is going well! I definitely use food to tune out during an afternoon mental slump. I’m going to try some distraction techniques from my app tomorrow. I’m also finding dividing my food mentally on the plate to give me check in points helps.

Im going to really try hard to enjoy every single mouthful of food tomorrow. I’m somewhat tuned in but I could do more. I’m going to really take my time in picking what I really fancy then enjoy it!

Salad (eaten in two halves)
cake (v small piece)
crisps
Dhal, brown rice, roast veggies (small portion but finished the lot!)

Run and weights

fascinated to see if this actually works for weight loss!

Checking in!

I've lost a pound in 10 days, which is a lot slower than I would like, but I've had a couple of cheat meals with a friend travelling and staying over at ours!!

I find myself getting a bit obsessive weighing myself every day.. and then get really disappointed and unmotivated when there isn't much of a change!

Ch4ng3dn4m3 · 29/04/2024 20:59

@Pickingmyselfup Another pear shape here who can totally relate, comments since I was about 12/13 about my butt and hips, crazy that people think it's acceptable. Typically my bust is the first place I lose weight, 2.5 inches in 2 weeks compared to an inch off the butt and .5 off the hips , always the way.

Amazing @sandyhappypeople well done.

I've had another good week myself, not lost as much as last week, but to be expected. Now is where it will start to get harder for me.

SW: 9st 9.2
Wk1: 9st 5.4
Wk2: 9st 3
TW: 8st 7

Well done everyone for persevering.

Keep at it @Summerbreeze111 a loss is a loss.

Really disheartened have lost 0.5lb in the last few weeks! Being doing as much as I can and can’t seem to lose

Scallops · 30/04/2024 09:28

@Aileen1992 time of the month? Or could you be putting on muscle?

In terms of meal prepping, I would not recommend it with macaroni cheese as it goes really dry when defrosted in my experience.

One thing I do is every couple of weeks I'll roast a big joint of pork and freeze it in 200 calorie portions, that makes a quick meal with something like microwave rice, and some kind of sauce.

I like to have a smaller amount of a very filling thing rather than more volume of low cal food eg. vegetables, as they bloat me and I still feel hungry. I also have a weird reaction to fruit, where I feel a sharp hunger afterwards. Does anyone else have this or is my stomach just weird?

I am going to the gym so yes could put on some I suppose , but starting to do more cardio to see if that helps, thanks for the reply!

good idea with the joint , it really is just something you can put with something handy like rice , I tried freezing cottage pie before too… not good 🤣 but definitely something you can add sauce and rice too!

Brilliant!

Sounds like mindful eating may be the way forward for you! I was reading about it last night and I do some of it already although wasn't sure that's what it was. The satiety trigger is the thing that works for me, identifying your brains signal that you're full rather than your body's signal which is delayed by around 20 minutes.. it's a game changer, but so easy to ignore it if you're eating something nice!

I think it's great that your DH is supportive and does it too.

It’s so bloody disheartening when you do everything that you can and it’s still doesn’t show up on the scales. I feel your pain! It is the right direction of travel though. If you lost .5lb every week that’s going to add up.

@Aileen1992 that's why I also measure myself as it is so disheartening when you're working so hard and it doesn't show on the scales. I know for me from this point on my weight will drop off at a snails pace, as well as yoyo up and down but hopefully, if I stick to what I'm doing, I'll still see the inches fall away and feel / see it in my clothes. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing great.

Well done @GreatBritishBeakOff amazing.

It’s being stuck at this weight not being able to get down , it used to be a lot easier! I am going to keep at it though x

Thank you! That is encouraging to know I’m not the only one, when you’re in your “healthy weight” span it’s hard to lose that last bit that you want! I need to order myself a body tape measure and do that actually, I do feel firmer so I know I am building muscle but I think my brain just likes to see a loss on the scales lol

GreenMarigold · 30/04/2024 22:36

In the last few days I’ve averaged 13k steps a day, fasted until lunchtime and have managed to avoid chocolate! The fasting definitely helps manage hunger overall. Looking forward to checking the scales in the morning.
