I need to lose a stone. I can’t be stout any more. I tend to do well with a bit of daily accountability so anyone up for a weight loss buddy to commiserate, support and obsess with?! Starting Monday obvs. 😬

Well, I’m 2lbs down since the weekend but also have started my period so who knows how much is down to diet. But I’m happy it’s going the right way!

also admitting anonymously I do have big hips but lack in the bum department lol and I wish I had more of one because I have had family comments too saying about my “flat ass” 🤣

I have quite a lot of stretch marks and lose skin on my stomach from carrying big babies, this makes me so uncomfortable and honestly feeling low! Would love a tummy tuck..(need to win the lottery first) also the reason I like to keep my weight low because my stomach area is exaggerated if I have weight on.

its so easy to tell someone to love their body, but is so hard to actually love your own!
x

I get you on the stomach thing, I can't shift it after 2 c sections no matter how much weight I lose. Trying to make peace with it and not worry about hiding it because I know it's not that bad.

My weekend was a write off, had steak and chips, steak sandwich with Stilton, wine, prosecco etc. Oops.

Today I've gone over a bit because I couldn't resist a prosecco sitting outside next to my new chimnea this evening.

I was back in the gym Monday for weights and I did a pilates session that I'll do again. No running but I have just hired a coach to try help me out of the rut I'm experiencing, I fear my races will be a huge flop otherwise and I would like to do well.

Not going near the scales till the weekend. I'm sure this time last year I was heading to under 55kg, last time I weighed I was a bit over 56kg which is a bit disheartening for the summer.

Just got to keep trying!

I have had 2 sections too , if I can lose the weight I want to I won’t feel as bad as that area will be flatter .. don’t even feel comfortable wearing jeans at the min. People say they don’t notice but I do!

did you mean 55 and 56kg ? I need to lose about 9kg I think 😭

I’ve been doing weights for months I do see muscle that wasn’t there before but it’s not doing anything for weight loss so I’m trying to up the cardio .. treadmill and bike , low weight high rep rowing , just going walks and jogs when i can too!
id love to hire a coach but also it’s so expensive! And I know I can push myself when I try!

like you said gotta keep trying x

GreatBritishBeakOff · 01/05/2024 22:06

Well done @Aileen1992 ! Persistence does pay off!

Not a bad day. Really hungry so broke my fast before midday rule. Also I didn’t use my app today. I’m a bit vulnerable after a weigh in though. Tomorrow I am using my app before eating. I find it so helpful so just to nudge me back on track. In the plus side I left half a pizza.

Ots actually astonishing how little food I actually need in order to feel full.

If 4 in 5 decisions are good ones we will all be skinny by the summer! Koko!

Also very hungry today, I have the app Fastic though and after dinner I started again because if I don’t I will eat too much!

had Started taking the pill from the doctor to help with time of month, took for about two weeks but felt side effects and came off it , so I’m now spotting after only finishing my time of month last week which was 9 days long too eghhh! So I’m feeling a bit crappy!

well done for leaving half, that is not an easy thing to do! And also you have used the advice from your mindful eating to not eat the rest! Brill!

this is half the battle IMO, it’s realising what you actually need rather than what you think you need.

i used to go to a cob shop for lunch years ago and I used to feel starving when I got there, so would have a large cob and a muffin or flapjack for afterwards, but when I started my fasting and changed my way of eating I’d have a small cob instead and that was perfectly enough.. my brain still told me I could eat a horse though!.. so I had to learn to ignore my brain and remember what my body actually needed instead, That’s when I came up with the ‘food as fuel’ mantra, which helped me stay on track, it’s not eating what you think you want, it’s eating what your body needs.

it can be hard to stay in that mindset at times though! Especially when your brain is not on your side! Stupid brain!!

Could be, as I’ve not cheated from my routine, I had told myself not to weigh myself between weigh ins as things do fluctuate, and I think it can make you feel disheartened, I’ll stick to the weekly weigh ins I think!

Yes definitely fluctuates , I think I’m better to move my weigh in day to mid week though as i always eat something at weekends and end up with water retention.

it is off putting but if we are doing what we should be we will lose!

How's everyone doing? I'm struggling to get into the mental zone of eating less unfortunately.

Is anyone else more interested in measurements, or one specific measurement, than weight? I'm wondering if it'll motivate me more to focus on this.

The widest part of my hips is just under 40" which is out of proportion to the rest of me, and that's the bit I want to reduce. Luckily it's where I lose weight first, but I'm not even managing that. I have so many clothes that I love which fit at 37" or 38". I don't know why I find it so difficult. Summer is coming and this would make such a difference.

I've had personal training 3 times a week since mid-December and gained muscle but that measurement hasn't changed a bit!

Anyone else keen on focusing mainly on a measurement?

Honestly the fasting has helped me so much control my eating! I didn’t think I could get back to being strict but it has really helped after dinner I go straight to the app and switch it on to stop me late night eating!

what does your training consist off? I haven’t lost much weight doing strength training but have noticed a difference in clothes fitting , added more cardio even walking makes a big difference, when I did it before I walked every day even 30 min and the weight came off definitely my sides! Most of my weight is gathered round my middle section too so when it comes off in other places but not there it can be frustrating but eventually it will come off there too!

Sounds like you're on to a really good thing there. Keep it up! I reckon I'd be better off fasting in the morning, evenings are the hardest for me. I did that a couple of years ago, didn't eat until midday, but I broke it on a holiday and didn't get back on track unfortunately.

My training has all been strength, the usual gym machines. Only a few minutes of cardio at the end. I've definitely grown muscle but it's still hidden under a layer of, let's say squidge (including much cellulite). Part of the problem is that exercising more increased my appetite. A good side effect is that I wasn't so cold over the winter, surprisingly.

Ah definitely need more cardio then I think anyway .. it’ll burn the calories faster , I am the same but trying to build up my cardio as I don’t have much stamina when it comes to it , can feel the muscle underneath my flabby bits too so hopefully once we lose we will be nice and toned!

had a bit of a binge last night after being so good for the last few weeks but pulled back again today as my tummy hasn’t taking kindly to eating so much rubbish!

how is everyone else doing?

Pickingmyselfup · 07/05/2024 08:07

My weekend was a bit of a flop, I ate out on Sunday and a huge burger and wine. I still went to the gym and yesterday I did the gym, pilates and a small hike but my clothes suddenly feel tighter this morning!

I'm supposed to be running tonight but I'm having issues with my knee so that might be a no go.

It's just one thing after another recently to prevent me running which means my half marathon is getting closer and I'm not training at all.

GreenMarigold · 10/05/2024 07:03

I’ve been making slow progress, 1/10th lb down each day but then had a headache yesterday and as usual tried to eat my way through it. Now back to higher than I was at the start of the week. It’s so frustrating! I guess I need to be losing faster so the occasional off day doesn’t have such an impact.

I’m already fasting til 12, cutting out bread 3 days a week, reducing snacks (could do more here), walking 12k steps every day and eating lower calorie main meals than usual. It just feels such hard work!

How is everyone else doing?

Ch4ng3dn4m3 · 13/05/2024 10:03

How is everyone doing? I well and truly fell off the wagon, I kept up the running, but ditched mfp and only did my workout 4 out of 12 days for the last two weeks.

Thankfully I've only put on just under 2lb but I'm starting again today, starting with a work out followed by a run.

SW: 9st 9.2
Wk1: 9st 5.4
Wk2: 9st 3
Wk4: 9st 4.8
TW: 8st 7

dueindecember10 · 13/05/2024 13:31

I’m still plugging away and reminding myself it’s a marathon not a sprint! Very slow going thanks to peri menopause I think as still being very compliant. Frustrating but better than gaining!

Ch4ng3dn4m3 · 15/05/2024 20:17

Well done @dueindecember10.

Typically I fell on my run on Monday and have done my ankle in so not going to be able to exercise for a couple of weeks. There's always something!

Pickingmyselfup · 23/05/2024 17:29

I had a terrible week last week, just kept shoving in the food and drinks in like there was no tomorrow! I was doing so well, I had lost a kg over a month and was slowly heading in the right direction and now I've probably screwed it up! Still running and gymming but doubtful it was enough to compensate.

This week has been better so far, no alcohol, less food and better healthier choices so hope I can undo some of the damage. Keep meaning to weigh myself but always forget!
