I need to lose a stone. I can’t be stout any more. I tend to do well with a bit of daily accountability so anyone up for a weight loss buddy to commiserate, support and obsess with?! Starting Monday obvs. 😬

@USaYwHatNow I hear you. Weigh in day is such a trigger for me to binge. Especially if I’ve had a good week. Gah!

I am the same. A good weigh in means I feel I can treat myself and a bad weigh in makes me ask why I am bothering.

I'm managing to tick off my non negotiables of steps and calories and things are moving in the right direction. Just need to keep this going and not get derailed by the weekend.

Had a bit of a binge last night … still feeling the need to eat today , thinking of trying zig zag diet?

Binge is okay. It’s totally natural. Food is nice. If you can be gentle with yourself today. Back on track. After all the start of any diet is just a longer term version of what happened and we still lose weight regardless. Hope you feel okay.

@GreatBritishBeakOff Ha that's so funny you mention yoga, I actually do think it's brilliant😅It helps me feel grounded and aware of my body. I also meditate a lot, and I journal every day. I reckon it's these things that have saved me from eatinging mindlessly even more than I do. Also I rarely drink alcohol so that saves quite a few calories.

I wrote out my entire food history, starting from what I know about when I was a baby, and this was so illuminating that I lost all guilt and self-blame around not planning food properly, and using it to zone out. I recommend that quite highly.

I then wrote a version of what I wish had happened (e.g. mum had been kinder around food, I hadn't gone to bed hungry so often etc), and then wrote how I'd feel with that childhood, then mentally sort of stepped into that version and felt it in my body. It really helped! But then I'm a big fan of slightly odd self-help techniques.

I'm still a work in progress but much kinder and understanding to myself than I was.

That is amazing!!! I’m totally going to try that! I think the self flagellation around food is very telling. It’s no wonder women turn to food. We’re in an obesigenic environment, women are expected to carry a huge mental load, showing emotion makes us ‘hysteric’ and food is an easy, cheap, legal means for a dopamine hit.

I had a bit of a binge this afternoon. Made myself roasted veg with yoghurt dressing. Lush but I felt unsatisfied so has some crisps. Then cereal bar. Then chocolate. Normally this would be my fuck it moment but no! I’m going to honour my body and hunger. So what if I e eaten a little extra. My body is a calorie burning machine. All I need to do now is NOT go fuck it and I’ll be back on track within four hours!

Living on 1400 calories sucks. I went over by 45 or so yesterday because I had wine and a g&t can. Not really sure how accurate yesterday's logging was because I skipped my 250 calorie lunch for half a slice of cake so I just kept the lunch in my diary thinking the cake might equal similar.

I'm feeling very ropey with a sore throat and banging headache so I went to yoga yesterday but skipped the weights session. This morning I was supposed to do a park run but once I was up my head hurt every time I moved so didn't do that. Planning on doing a weights session then doing my own 5K run in the same place later this afternoon. Tomorrow another weights session.

I've planned my meals for the weekend so I'm sorted. Just need to stick to it!

Ch4ng3dn4m3 · 20/04/2024 10:43

I definitely binge when stressed, so often during my working week. I kept going to the fridge yesterday but managed to keep it healthy and mostly chose cherry Toms.

Yesterday's food diary:
Breakfast/Brunch: Salmon, eggs and ryvita (247)
Dinner: Cheesy Veggie wedges and salad (812)
Snacks: plums X2, Baby plum tomatoes. (160)

Drinks: 1500 water; 7 green teas with lemon. (21)

Total 1240

Exercise: wk 3 run 3 c25k

@GreatBritishBeakOffI'll have a fry up for brunch today, I find planning and putting what I eat in MFP as I go helps me stay on track but my rule is I try to be good 80% of the time so leave the weekends to splurge and go over a bit.

Good luck everyone.

Pickingmyselfup · 21/04/2024 19:49

This weekend has been a bit rubbish, went over my calories Friday and Saturday and today I've been feeling awful so I've spent most of the day lounging in bed. I wanted to go to the gym but since my head hurts everytime I get up it was clearly not happening.

Hoping I'll be OK to do a mile run and pilates class in the morning followed by 2 gym workouts back to back.

Hevalison · 22/04/2024 08:33

@GreatBritishBeakOff OMG. This weekend - what a joke. That's my sum up of how i managed this weekends calories 😂

To be fair I was on track all week, low calorie, intermittent fasting and gym/walk//run everyday! This weekend was full of friends - walks and gym! But swiftly followed by takeaways both evenings (Dominos and Chinese) and a s* tonne of wine. I love my friends but sometimes they can be bad influences lol. I'm avoiding the scales for the next couple of days so I can regulate the water weight that would have gone on with the booze and salt. I don't feel like I've ruined all my hard work though which seems to be a positive. New week!

I know what you mean @Pickingmyselfup - with my above post I think we're both in the same boat, did you manage your run and pilates?

Hope you all have a great week, fingers crossed for some positive strides forward!!

No I'm still feeling awful and now one of the kids is off too, think he's got the same thing, headache, feeling cold, sick etc.

Fun times!

Missed today's gym session as well, even if I didn't have a child I do not feel up to doing anything more strenuous than light housework, just the essentials to get through the day. I'm not very happy about missing it all, I'm stressing about it and also the lack of movement, drove to school this morning, will drive later but I guess that's life.

sandyhappypeople · 22/04/2024 12:13

Well I’ve been good all week, 2 meals a day, no snacks, been really active this week too.. and nothing.. the scales this morning say I’m exactly the same as last week.. ffs!

I do sometimes run a week behind, as I found that when doing slimming world, the pay off was normally the following week.. but if I don’t lose next week I’m going to be thoroughly fed up!

GreatBritishBeakOff · 22/04/2024 12:34

@Hevalison yup! Same here! Had a three course meal and really late night on Friday. Sooooooooo tired on Saturday and out in the freezing fucking cold all day on Sunday for a kids sports event. Am planning to claw back today and weigh in tomorrow. Ffs 🤦‍♀️

Terrible start of the week for me. Totally binged over the weekend and have put on 2 lbs. Then had my car crashed into on the way in to work! 😔

Ch4ng3dn4m3 · 22/04/2024 14:50

The weekend for me went ok. I was over both days, 390 Saturday and 219 yesterday but both are still within what I should eat to maintain my current weight, so no drama for me.

I'm ecstatic with my loss, although I appreciate a lot of it will be water.

SW 9st 9.2
Wk1 9st 5.4
GW 8st 7

I've also measured myself and I've lost 1/2 an inch off everywhere besides thighs and arms in a week. So I'm really pleased that my hard work has paid.

This week is going to be hard as I'm due on, and I always crave chocolate.

Keep going every one, you can do this. Don't let it beat you. Sending healing thoughts @Pickingmyselfup

@Dinodrivingacar hope you are ok!

I been intermittent fasting , seems to be going well ended up on 1250 calories yesterday so pleased, prepared my meals for today so should stay around that. Thinking if I begin my fast after dinner I can’t over eat in the evenings 🤞🤞🤞

Sounds great! Intermittent fasting works for me, I have two meals a day, as long as I can get cravings and snacks under control I find it easier to stick to that any other way of losing weight.

one thing I find helps me is after my evening meal, I’ll have a hot chocolate, I know it seems counter productive for weight loss, but it gets rid of any ‘sweet’ cravings I sometimes get straight after a meal which pester me all evening.

I do think it will help me to in keeping the keep control, I had 2 meals too and a protien bar after dinner, I have some nice skinny hot chocolate in the cupboard so I must try that after dinner - also downloaded the app Fastic so it tracks my fasting time and tells me where my body is at which is good!
hoping this will be the end off all the on off dieting and I can stick to it this time!

I’m 10 days in now and have lost 5lbs. I’m intermittent fasting and using an app to keep count of the hours which is quite motivating. Hoping that I continue the downward trend even though the water weight bit will have slowed down. Good luck everyone and keep up the good work.

Well done that’s brilliant! 5lb in 10 days I hope I can lose as much! Fasting does seem to be a great way of controlling how much we eat! X
