Anyone want a weight loss buddy to obsess with?

I need to lose a stone. I can’t be stout any more. I tend to do well with a bit of daily accountability so anyone up for a weight loss buddy to commiserate, support and obsess with?! Starting Monday obvs. 😬

Welcome! Maybe you can share what was working for you so well! With a tiny baby that’s amazing!

Thanks. I was just calorie counting using mfp and stepped up the exercise, but I don't have a tiny baby, I think that is notenoughcaffeine.

Lilo08 · 13/04/2024 22:08

I have a 3 year old and feel I cant keep blaming my weight gain on pregnancy/baby!
I'm 5.2 and last I checked was 10.2 but have a feeling i'm more 10.6. Really need to bring it down to 9st!
I used to to be able to lose weight easily but since LO was born I have been struggling to shift the weight.

Ah thanks for the correction! Yes i think I’m going to calorie count too. Thinking 1400-1700 a day.

Haha, it is my first.... So not sure if I run marathons yet or not!! 🤣🤣 I love 5:2, really gets me started and motivated them I reduce it down after a couple of weeks and find I've much less appetite.

Welcome! Are you up for a weigh in on Monday? Do you have a time frame or see how it goes?

Yes! The first few are the hardest! Have you read fast like a girl?

I’ll join you. I’ve lost 10.5lbs with a combination of slimming world and calorie counting but it’s really really slow, I've been there since September. I try to calorie count but I really think my metabolism is screwed. I exercise a lot, running and strength training, and walk 3 miles at least every day with my puppy, but I am still struggling to get where I want to be.

i am having a really strict week to try to get a bit of a boost this week. I started SW at 11.9, I’m now 10.12.5 and my first target is 10.9. I think realistically my end target is about 10.3 but to be honest, I just want to get past the 1stone mark. I’ve been a pound away twice since September and each time have ended up plateauing then regaining. It’s really depressing 🤣

I blame perimenopause, possible thyroid, and my screwed up metabolism!

Ooh no, I'll check that out! Thanks

Ideally I would love to lose it all asap but also realise it is not realistic 🤣
I will start lightly tomorrow with a combo of 18.6 and 5.2 and see how it goes. Would be to be on comfortable weight range by summer.
what are everyone's plans?

Lilo08 · 13/04/2024 22:21

I'm starting the gym next week too. I feel my biggest downfall is snacking!

I’m calorie counting. It’s tedious but it works. Plus upping exercise and trying to work out of the house in the afternoon to stop snacking. Open to ideas though! I’d love to lose it all in two months. It’s possible I guess…

I'd like to join please. I'd love to lose a stone! Good luck everyone!

SpecialKtheoriginal · 13/04/2024 23:01

I'd like to join, please. Would like to lose 2-2.5 stone all in, but initial goal is a stone by the time we go on holiday in May half term, so have 6 weeks! Health and body have never been quite the same since the combo of long covid and a v unsettled reflux/non-sleeping lockdown baby, but that baby is now 4 so no excuses! Planning on intermittent fasting, logging calories and no choc, wine, treats in the week. I walk a lot but need to add in some proper exercise, and also tempted to have a go at 5:2 or similar to help things along. Good luck all!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/04/2024 06:59

My plans are

  • continue doing Caroline Girvan (it’s 5 sessions a week but i double some up to do 3 a week) and run 3 x a week
  • walk every day
  • calorie count/SW - I go to sw to get weighed and I base my meals around the basic principles but I calorie count
  • Protein 100g+ a day
  • I try to eat only my meals, no snacks
  • massively cut down drinking alcohol. I did almost 3 months totally dry until Easter, since then I’ve had 5 drinks.

I’ve lost 10.5lbs so far. I’ve always run but the CG is changing my body shape, I’m realistic about muscle gain etc, but those numbers on the scales just do not budge. I’m not strict enough at calorie counting so I allow 1400 a day knowing that I probably have 1600.

I’m tempted by IF but I don’t know how good it is for perimenopausal age women, plus I really really like my breakfasts, I don’t want to skip them! I work from home so I’ve already done well to completely cut out snacks, even fruit. But it’s really hard some days.

Summerbreeze111 · 14/04/2024 11:00

I eagerly weighed myself this morning, my scales had ran out of charge so I hadn't weighed myself in 10 days, I was hoping for a big drop, but oh MY it was SO disappointing. I've lost just under a pound.

I think I might be still consuming too many calories, I am using nutra check which guides me to consume 1800 calories, with extra calories added for breastfeeding. Baby is having food too in the day so I'm wondering whether I could actually aim for 1600 calories instead, maybe that will see a better rate of loss?

I am really beginning to feel the heat to lose weight, I have quite a few events coming up, mid May and June and I really want to feel comfortable in my skin!

Anyway I will start albeit early (I will usually do this on monday)

....

Summerbreeze111 · 14/04/2024 11:02

Weigh in round one!

Weight: 139.6lbs
Goal: 130 lbs
Loss: 1lb

AdversePossession · 14/04/2024 11:14

I would like to obsess as well I think and I need the motivation because otherwise all my old excuses kick in. My first target is to get under 14 stone.

WitchWand · 14/04/2024 11:30

I would like to join too. I was doing ok up to just before Easter.

My scales broke but I didn't realise straight away. So, despite me sticking to low carbing and no alcohol the scales kept showing a weight increase. Anyway I've got some more scales now so when I weigh in l'll know the truth.Smile

Hopefully I've not done too much damage over Easter. Easter Confused

Thanks for starting up this thread.

Summerbreeze111 · 14/04/2024 12:16

Thought I would share this photo, just to remind myself that even 1lb loss is maybe not as small as I thought (well it was 0.9lbs but whose counting 🙈) hope it helps everyone too!

Anyone want a weight loss buddy to obsess with?
Gottleogear · 14/04/2024 12:44

I'd like to join too. I've already lost a stone but have plateaued at 10st 12lbs. I would like to get down to around 10st. I'm 5ft 5" and post menopausal so my stomach now carries the fat.

I do a lot of exercise (6 days a week, aerobic and weights)and eat reasonably well but I have to stop snacking in the evenings🙈

I do 16:8 but may start 5:2 for a couple of days a week.
I've a holiday planned for mid May so even 7lbs off by then would be brilliant 😀

Misspacorabanne · 14/04/2024 14:45

@Summerbreeze111 wow! A pound of fat looks a huge amount! I’ll remind myself of that when I feel disheartened. I’ve not weighed yet! I haven’t weighed in about a month, I was about ten stone, but betting I’m over that now!
I know you mentioned calories, I was thinking of starting on 1700 and upping my exercise too, but after a few weeks I may drop calories a little more if I’m not seeing any results!
It’s nice that there’s lots of us joined! Good luck everyone!

Sandcastles24 · 14/04/2024 14:51

I'd like to join too please. I am going to start 5:2 on Monday. It is the only thing that has worked for me before. I need to loose the baby weight now

USaYwHatNow · 14/04/2024 19:43

I've had a couple of wins so far this week. Namely passing my son a chocolate digestive without eating it, limiting myself to one single solitary Viennese Whirl AND buying my husband a slice of carrot cake without eating any of it 😂

I've had some awful sugar withdrawal headaches though which seem to have eased up today, fingers crossed.

Weighing again on Thursday night 🫡

dueindecember10 · 14/04/2024 20:24

Please can I join? I seem to have put on a stone over the past few months by taking my eye off the ball. Would be great to have some accountability.

GreatBritishBeakOff · 14/04/2024 20:29

Evening obsessive buddies! Welcome all. So happy to have everyone to obsess with!

I’m weighing in tomorrow morning. Utterly dreading it but it has to be done.

Im giving myself one rule - if I eat it, I record it and will report back on here.

I do urge any women on here considering fasting to give ‘fast like a girl’ a read. 5/2, 16/8, if etc are all based on male biology. We have our hormonal cycle to consider which is far more complex.

Will report my weight in the morning!
