Welcome one and all. Need a few online chums doing the same. No rules. Do it the way it suits and post as often as you like.
I'm currently trying to get from 65.0 kg to 60.kg and losing 1lb or 500g a week. (have come down from 69.1kg). I have a FitBit, and use the Happy Scales app and had planned to up my step count but the incessant rain is not helping. Doing 10 stomach crunches a day from TODAY. (165 cm / 5'5"). Very happy to have your company and steal your ideas and suggestions.

@Sparticle I had to stay in one recently for work. They don’t cater for vegetarians at the one I went to!

@HoneyMobster wow! Well done.

zebranotzeebra · 09/04/2024 09:24

Thanks @HoneyMobster. I do, my fitting is mid May so hoping to shift a decent amount by then and anything extra will be a bonus🤞 good luck for your 10k!

I'm pescatarian pretty much because it gives me more options than going full veggie. I have got to pop to John Lewis to pick something up on the way to the hotel so might see if the café is still open at 6ish.

Cudz · 09/04/2024 10:10

Please can I join? Currently crept up to 10st 3lbs and want to get back to 9st 4lb by summer. I'm 5ft 5inches. Just feeling flabby and wobbly and want to get my flat stomach back. Also want to be able to feel ok in my bikini again on holiday this August. Doing this via a mixture of calorie counting (myfitnesspal), daily walking, weighted hula hoop daily and also a mixture of gym workouts or classes or swimming a couple of times a week.
Looking back I've eaten nothing but crap and not exercised at all over the last couple of months so I know how I've piled the weight on. Fingers crossed its as easy to lose the weight as it was to put it on! Good luck to us all!

mondaytosunday · 09/04/2024 10:51

Im hoping to loose considerably more than that by the time I go on holiday June 25. Ideally 27kg! That's 11 weeks from today and yes I know that's almost 2.5kg or over 5lbs/week. That's my goal though. Slightly exacerbated by a three day girlie trip to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday end of this month.
I'm trying to eat two meals of 250 cals then a normal dinner of up to 1000. I use My Fitness Pal to track and tend to ignore any exercise calories as they are way overestimated.
Exercise is my issue as I used to have a PT but can't afford it now, and what she did provide was accountability to workout at least a couple times a week. I hate exercise though and find it very hard to get motivated to do it, so at the moment have decided to increase my dog walking time! But as I loose I will not find it so godawful to move more and pick up those kettlebells again.
Sad thing is even if I reach my short term goal I'll still need to loose a lot more to get to a healthy range. I'd be ecstatic to weigh 80kg (I'm tall) which would be a size 14 for me.

kessiebird · 09/04/2024 10:53

@Cudz that could be me for the last few months! Easy to put on hard to get off! We can do this!

Brought my DD to her sports activity, was going to run to the beach and back near here, which I do regularly, but it's raining and I've have to sit for another hour in wet clothes. Also made up a travel mug of Peppermint tea to get some fluid in me other than diet coke, left that at home 🤦 never mind I brought dates for a snack so that keeps me away from the tuck shop in the cafe.

kessiebird · 09/04/2024 10:56

Thanks for the welcome @Sparticle

And good luck in the 10k @HoneyMobster . Most I am doing is 4k, trying to up it to 5k this summer. I'm a fair weather runner so here's hoping for some dry weather soon

Sparticle · 09/04/2024 12:50

@Cudz and @kessiebird - I read that and thought that could be me as well 😅

Hi, I’m in for this, I’m hovering around 9st7 and would love to be 10lbs lighter by 1/7. I’m only 5’3 and very narrow shouldered and hipped so every pound feels like a big difference on me!

The only thing that works for me is calorie counting, so I’m back on the my fitness pal app from today!

You can do it! I’m 5’3 and was 9 stone 7 and started on my fitness pal at the start of feb and have lost 10lb

mdinbc · 09/04/2024 17:11

Hello all, joining in! We don't use stones, so I'm at my heaviest at 137lb and need to get down to 127 or 130. My goal is beginning of June, so 8 weeks.

I've been doing a weight program 3x/week and yoga at least twice since January, but I know I need to kick up the cardio with a brisk walk as well.

I've started a meal replacement shake 2 meals a day just yesterday, then proper dinner with good carbs (no french fries!). I'll do that for 2 weeks as a kick start then get back to meals with low/good carbs and lots of veggies.

Stay strong everyone! It's nice to have a community for accountability.

Sparticle · 09/04/2024 18:04

Hi all. I grabbed a salmon and lentil salad in Marks at lunchtime in Leeds and am having a tuna mayo sub roll in John Lewis now for tea in Liverpool 😂
Hope you've all had better days than me food-wise!!

kessiebird · 09/04/2024 18:19

Busy day so had a Mcdonalds Happy Meal, then nothing until now. Small portion of spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread for 420 cals. So although not the healthiest of days, I stayed within 1200 cals.

StickyStones · 09/04/2024 19:02

Ooo, I'd like to join too. I'm currently 9 stone which doesn't sound like much but I'm only 5'0 so I'm nearly at the top of my normal BMI. Like so many others on here I'm on a 7lbs lose-gain cycle for years! Would love to get beyond that and to keep it off.

My strategy is very light lunches, normal dinner, no snacks, no alcohol mid-week and try to get out for a run a few times if I can. Weather, work and energy permitting of course!

spinningpenguin · 10/04/2024 09:58

I weighed today and am down 1kg! Grin. Lunch I'm having swiss chard made the Mediterranean way and couple of fried eggs, dinner mince meat steak with sauted green beans. It's so hard during the weekend though.

Beatrixslobber · 10/04/2024 10:04

That sounds good @spinningpenguin .

All that I can think of is food today despite not being hungry. My brain is trying to trick me 😂

spinningpenguin · 10/04/2024 10:30

Thanks @Beatrixslobber 😁. I know what you mean, I'm particularly ravenous just before my period Blush

StickyStones · 10/04/2024 10:56

what's swiss chard made the mediterranean way? I'm intrigued @spinningpenguin

I did ok yesterday :
Coffee for breakfast
Nuts, rice cake, banana and yoghurt drink for lunch
Pasta and italian sausage for dinner
hot chocolate

Today I've had an egg for breakfast, 2 x coffee
Lunch is the same as yesterday
Dinner is chicken curry, homemade

Anyone else find the only way to lose weight is to go hungry? If I'm not hungry going to sleep it means I never lose weight. Ugh.

Cherryblossom81 · 10/04/2024 11:12

Does anyone (but maybe particularly fellow short people?!) have any thoughts/experience about intermittent fasting and/or eating breakfast?

I'd been doing 16:8 or 18:6 for a while but now not sure if actually it's good to try to 'kick start' my metabolism by having breakfast and especially trying to increase protein?

It's so confusing. You can find research/studies etc to support either argument. I am already at a healthy BMI (which I know probably makes fat loss slower) and only have 10ish pounds to lose but I'm just not being successful.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 10/04/2024 11:28

Hi @Cherryblossom81 I'm 5'2" and on this thread as well. I've done intermittent fasting before and found it successful but my opinion is that it is basically just another way of reducing calories! I find that once I start eating, I'm hungry from then on. I find it easier to hold off until lunchtime if I can keep myself busy. I do drink coffee though and I put a small amount of low fat milk in it as I don't like it black. Maybe that's breaking a cardinal rule but hey ho. I honestly think that with weightloss (and partciularly now for me in middle age) it's all about reducing the calories I eat overall in a day. So I'm trying to cut out breakfast calories and include more water through the day. Toning up with walking and using dumbells or kettlebells and most of all not eating crap!

spinningpenguin · 10/04/2024 11:29

@StickyStones it's swiss chard with potatoes and garlic, you clean and cut potatoes in chunks, then boil them, but just enough, swiss chard also washed, cut and added to be boiled (can be added to potatoes), once both cooked its all drained and set aside. In a side pan finely chopped garlic is added to the olive oil more to be infused then completely cooked)burned, once infused you add the chard and potatoes into the oil with garlic and stir. The trick is to get the potatoes just right so they don't become mushy.

Gensola · 10/04/2024 11:35

It’s the last full day of our holiday today.
Breakfast was Greek yoghurt with nuts and seeds and a drizzle of honey, 2 black coffees
Nabbed 2 hard boiled eggs from the buffet and had them for a snack.
Lunch will be grilled fish and salad, white wine.
dinner will be cheese/charcuterie board, salad and wine. Enjoying our last day 😄

Beatrixslobber · 10/04/2024 11:43

@Cherryblossom81 i’m doing IF and my eating window is 12-6 so I’m interested in replies to your post! I get up at 5 for the gym and the most that I can manage is black coffee anyway.

StickyStones · 10/04/2024 11:47

@Cherryblossom81 I'm 5'0, at the top end of my healthy BMI and aiming to lose similar.

About 12 years ago, before intermittent fasting was a 'thing' I did my own version of IF and I was very successful with it. I'd have breakfast of a milky coffee (so technically breaking my fast) and then go all the way until dinner until I ate something. I didn't calorie count the dinner but ate a large portion, then nothing again in the evening. I used to call them my 'no food days' and did it about twice a week, I was also eating well on the other days. I got super slim but I just don't seem to have the willpower anymore...

lisam78 · 10/04/2024 12:25

Can I join too please?
I've been trying to lose weight since August 2023, and have lost some but it's been incredibly slow. I started off calorie counting but that's fallen by the wayside- I have made a real effort to cut as much UPF from my diet as possible, cook everything from scratch, and reduced my alcohol intake. I'm 45 and 5ft 5, SW 11st 10lbs, CW 10st 5lbs, GW 9st 12lbs. Exercise wise, i do 3-4 workouts a week, a mix of spin, weights and pilates, plus i aim to walk 10000 steps each day with the dog. Posting here for some ideas to help speed up weight loss, and for some accountability! Thanks 😊

Mum5net · 10/04/2024 13:06

So we were at 35. Our gang is now 44 thanks to
@Hiddendoor @LifeInAHamsterWheel @kessiebird @zebranotzeebra @Cudz @mondaytosunday @mdinbc @StickyStones @lisam78
And now we have TWO virtual wedding receptions to attend with our more marvellous, more slender frames thanks to @zebranotzeebra and@LittleBrownBaby
Nothing like a wedding, a holiday, a big race, and a whole lot of accountability and encouragement to get us all over this hurdle...
(And a special thanks to@Cudz who reminded me that I, too, have a weighted hoolahoop and I've got it out and used it! Anyone else got a weighted hoolahoop and we can have a subgroup?)
