Welcome one and all. Need a few online chums doing the same. No rules. Do it the way it suits and post as often as you like.
I'm currently trying to get from 65.0 kg to 60.kg and losing 1lb or 500g a week. (have come down from 69.1kg). I have a FitBit, and use the Happy Scales app and had planned to up my step count but the incessant rain is not helping. Doing 10 stomach crunches a day from TODAY. (165 cm / 5'5"). Very happy to have your company and steal your ideas and suggestions.

Only one latte today, and it was a small one. But I've still got to lose the 4lb I put on in the last couple of weeks to get back to where I started, then lost the original 7lb!
What's a mantra I can say to myself to not have seconds, and step away from the Easter chocolate?! I just have no self control in the moment! And my running buddy has cancelled on me tomorrow.

KrazyboutKillian · 05/04/2024 21:41

I’ve lost 10 lb since 18feb , another 10 would be great , I have a good few stone to lose.
I have been doing 16:8 , and cutting cals down , but I really need to up the exercise as I do virtually nothing , this is my next goal . Would be great joining you all for a bit of support !

Happinessischeeseontoast · 05/04/2024 21:55

Oooh this is for me. Started end of Jan and lost 16lbs but I've plateaued over the last 4 weeks. I would like to list another 8lbs to get to pre-pregnancy weight and then see how I feel. I was never happy with my weight pre-pregnancy and strived to shift half a stone so maybe I'll manage this time!

I've tried all the diets over time and calorie counting is actually what I'm best with. It's educated me on what the calories are in foods I used to gorge on so I'm hoping maintenance will be easier than I've experienced with other diets. I've also lost that all or nothing mentality when I've fallen off the wagon on other diets. I've had bad days since Easter (too much chocolate everywhere! 😞) but I just make up for it the next day.

So I'm 5'4 and 9stone8. Hoping to start running again next week now the lighter nights are here but I need to rejig my schedule massively as my evenings just disappear.

How do the other runners fit it into their day?

NotDonna · 05/04/2024 21:56

Today achieved
no wine, no cake, no puddings (despite DDs making crumble AND a cheesecake), no Easter chocolate or Frerro Roche (that tease everytime I open the fridge), no lattes!
bfast of peppermint tea,
lunch peppers, Halloumi & half avocado
dinner DH’s cottage pie (tried to avoid the mash), carrots
snack - nuts. Way too many nuts! Grrr 😡
not enough water & zero exercise as ankle pretty sore today.

Algebraicyourleg · 05/04/2024 22:07

Can I join?

I’m 5ft4 and about 66kg. Ideally I want to get back under 60kg but seem to be stuck between 64-66kg. Just back from holiday and have a half marathon 4 weeks on Sunday so training really kicks in but it doesn’t seem to be taking off any weight.

Food is definitely my nemesis, as well as full sugar coke!

Happinessischeeseontoast · 05/04/2024 22:10

@Algebraicyourleg I have coke zero now. Not my favourite but definitely sorts out my sweet tooth. Sweeteners in my coffee too. I'd never go back to sugar now, such a waste of calories. Ideally I'll sort the sweet tooth out in time but for now this will do

Algebraicyourleg · 05/04/2024 22:25

@Happinessischeeseontoast I’d love to move to Coke Zero or any of the zeros but it seems I have an intolerance/allergy to one of the sweeteners which is very annoying. I am definitely cutting down how much sugar I take in but Coke is my weakness: I’m really good at turning down cakes or biscuits (which there always seems to be an abundance of in our staff room for some reason).

I don’t drink tea or coffee and don’t really like the taste of water unless it is freezing cold. So I need to find something else to replace it if anyone has suggestions? I do drink squash however!

Have you tried any herbal teas/infusions? There are so many to choose from, Mint, Fruit, Roiboos Vanilla etc, there are now also the ones you infuse in cold water too.Or maybe sparkling mineral water with a slice of lemon/lime?

It’s so hard, isn’t it! I do like the saying, “CRAVING will only make me feel good for a minute, but GOAL will make me feel good for real.” So if you’re trying to get healthier, it would be, “Easter chocolate will only make me feel good for a minute, but getting healthier will make me feel good for real.”

Can I join too? I’d rather not say what I weigh as I’m embarrassed about how much I gained on steroids. And a lot of people in my life have said I shouldnt worry about it at this point, when I’m already so sick. But I want it to be easier to enjoy the little things I have left while I’m still here, like being able to go for a short walk with my friend, or being able to visit a botanical garden, even if it tires me out. My doctor is getting insurance approval (I’m not in the UK) so I can switch my medication to long-lasting and twice a day; right now, I have to eat four times a day with it, and that just seems to be a nightmare for me because I can’t do any kind of fasting, etc. which is a lot easier for me. I just need some support, instead of people telling me it’s not worth worrying about anymore.

FlutteryButterfly · 05/04/2024 22:44

🙋‍♀️I'll join of that's OK.

Been here before, successfully lost 4stone in 2019 and kept it off through lockdowns but have let 1.5 stone creep back on over the last few months. I'm not overweight but I'm not in my comfortable zone.

I want to get back to 9st 7. I've managed 8lbs over 12 weeks which is far slower than last effort but heading in the right direction. I'm also in the zone when it comes to my mindset. My method of feast and famine, so effectively 5:2. I've got 1st 1lb to go.

Good luck all.

I like that mantra I'll try it tomorrow!

Sorry to hear you're so unwell but really inspirational that you're focused on being the healthiest you can be to make the most of the time you have, we're totally cheering you on 💜

I hope it helps tomorrow! Focusing on the positive can be really helpful, so whenever you have a craving that you don’t have a healthy way to fill, or you’re faced with a food that’s hard to resist eating a moderate amount of, just try to think of all the positives associated with your weight loss, whatever they are for you, instead of focusing on the fact that you’re “denying” yourself something. You’re not “denying” chocolate; you’re “choosing”: to have a vacation glow up, to feel more confident on the beach, to be able to share clothes with your best friend, etc.

And thank you!!!!!! You don’t know how much it means to think that someone would cheer me on. It’s so hard to do these things by yourself.

chalkyc2 · 06/04/2024 09:06

I love that the group is growing. Well done to us all, whatever our circumstance and reasons for heading towards a marvellous summer!

I've done a quick 20 min peloton and am playing hockey later on this afternoon. All of this to combat the fact we're going out for breakfast for my son's birthday and there's probably cake later....😅🎂

NotDonna · 06/04/2024 09:09

Definitely cheering you on @5YearsLeft and I’m loving your mantra. Plus the idea of a ‘glow up’. But yes, being able to do the things you want to do is blooming huge.

Are you all counting calories? I’ve downloaded MFP but because I cook everything from scratch and never the same way twice I think calorie counting could be an issue. I also need to think of meals that I can make with a high calorie option as my youngest is underweight.

IIdentifyAsInnocent · 06/04/2024 09:49

Can I join? Currently 147lb and want to get down to 136 so that I fit my holiday clothes by 3rd July.

Have had a rather decadent 3 months myself with 2 holidays since January where I may have rather over indulged.

I'm a cyclist and seem to really struggle with losing weight since I took it up, as I have to eat quite a lot to get the energy to ride. Didn't seem to have this problem when running but due to an injury I can't run any more

@me if I've missed anyone off

Can I join? Cortisol poisoning from three very stressful years, plus the onset of perimenopause have put me up to my highest ever weight. I'm 5'7" and 73kg.
Would love to get back down to under 65kg over the next 6 months or so, but 10lb off by summer would get me into last year's shorts.
Low carb with no breakfast is the only thing that works for me - aiming for under 40g per day. Making it manageable by spending more time cooking delicious things (just finished cheesy courgette fritters with streaky bacon, poached eggs and fried cherry tomatoes)

igetwhatyoumean · 06/04/2024 15:54

Scales said I'd lost 2lb this morning - it'll probably be back on by Monday but it's a good start.

HoneyMobster · 06/04/2024 17:15

Scales hit a 'in recent memory' low this morning.

PARKRUN completed in a best time since July 2021 and two sets of tennis played. Feeling a bit tired now but hopefully burnt off some calories in prep for dinner with friends tonight.

SW 11 stone 4
CW 9 stone 6.8
GW 9 stone

@Happinessischeeseontoast - I typically read n first thing in the morning. I don't sleep well so I get up, have a cup of black coffee and head out. My 3 DC are all at university though, only responsibility is DDog and maybe DH.

Happinessischeeseontoast · 06/04/2024 18:04

By the look of things here my diet is restarting Monday. I seriously can't avoid the chocolate now it's ridiculous and there is a birthday party tomorrow 😞 Monday I am ready though!

@HoneyMobster your Saturday sounds like fun!

We have a birthday party tomorrow as well. It's so hard and I know there will be tons of leftovers!

igetwhatyoumean · 06/04/2024 18:36

We have a birthday tomorrow too!

Itdjgsurchg · 07/04/2024 10:47

I’m pleased with my first week. First real test yesterday when our friends came round for dinner. I did have some alcohol but stuck to gin and slimline tonic and didn’t have any cheesecake and had a sensible portion of food. I’m happy with myself because normally I would use it as an excuse to binge eat any goodies I could find.

I’ve done a couple of workouts on YouTube and lots of walking and bike riding this week. I’ve put on so much weight over the last year because of upping the hours at my desk job so I really need to up the movement.

WhoKnowsWhatToDoWithThis · 07/04/2024 13:42

So good to see so many posters on this thread ❤️

I've had a rubbish couple of days eating 😂. But it was delicious! Back to usual habits today.

MrsReacher85 · 07/04/2024 19:02

I swear, the minute I say i’m going to do better, I get worse 😂 I’ve had a decent weekend exercise wise but think I’ve used that as an excuse to then eat crap. Will do better tomorrow!
