Right. It's a fresh start for me. I've joined Slimming World for the 5th time back in August of last year. Didn't do too badly up until Christmas but since then I've been dreadful.
Just had my weigh in tonight and had a huge weight again over two weeks - missed weigh in last week. The small amount of weight I have lost since August last year is very quickly creeping back on again and I have to do something about it now.
Tomorrow is my new start. I have my food diary at the ready.

I went shopping tonight, they didn't have any mullerlights in the flavour I like or any Alpen light bars either.

I got some salad and cod for a red day, some pasta and rice for green days (not both together obviously), baked beans, vegetable curry (6 sins per tin) and lots more.
I didn't get any biscuits or chocolates so I think I deserve to lose 4lb this week just for that!

I followed SW rigidly today too so thats 2 days down, 5 to go before first weigh in.
Thanks for the latest PW, will be needing that.

grinningbee · 24/04/2008 21:17

That's brilliant Furball! I'm aiming for 10 in my first 4 weeks (done 7 in 2 weeks, so fingers crossed).

Just in case anyone didn't know - Morrisons are currently selling 10 Mullerlight yoghurts for £2.00. Bargain!

Fill your trollies

kid · 24/04/2008 21:20

Asda are selling them 5 for £1 (or 54p each!)

nikkid21 · 25/04/2008 08:00

Well done furball on the loss. Are you getting that nice baggy clothes feeling yet?

Top tip - When you throw away all of your fat clothes because they don't fit any more keep back one pair of trousers. I try my (size 18)fat jeans on when i'm struggling. It's a huge boost that I can get both my self and my 5yo in them now.

At my class we are planning to bring in some of the clothes that don't fit us and swap them. What doesn't fit me any more will fit some one else who has a little further to go. It seems pointless to keep buying new clothes when you might only stay at that dress size for a month or two.

Morning all

All set for another good SW day! Have my SW tikka tuna with me and my 7 HEb serving of crackerbreads! I struggle on red days to keep a HEb for tea, any suggestions on what to have with some chicken if I've used all my HEbs?? I had weetabix for brekkie as had no time for bacon, eggs etc....

Didn't manage my davina dvd in the end, put DD to bed and went down to do DP's tea, DD then woke up crying and was boiling hot so she was up and down all night with a high temp . She is now bouncing around and singing to Dora so I'm wondering if I dreamt it all???! She started nursery this week so she's probably picked something up already.....

Good luck vibes for a 'good' weekend girls!

SWlurker · 25/04/2008 09:57

Thanks for the tips on mullerlights special offers - must go home via asda tonight! I would love to hear about any special offers that are on!

I have been a bad slimmer the last few days - going shopping for speed food tonight so hope to pull it back at the weekend

toadette · 25/04/2008 10:49

Hi everyone

I'm back into the SW habit again. Have already shifted 2lbs on my own scales since Tuesday WI so the 0.5lb gain was likely water retention as suspected. Trying to decide whether to go for a walk now or not...grey clouds looking a bit off-putting. Could always stick on a raincoat and put the raincover on ds2's buggy of course!

Going to try to stay syn-free today. Had a couple of glasses of wine last night so planning to have none tonight. Running 5k tomorrow then hopefully same again on Sunday morning. I HAVE to get a loss this week...my half stone award seems to be taking forever and if I lose at least a pound I will get the award plus drop down into next stone bracket on scales. Please keep me motivated

Re:the sausages. We don't have a Morrison's over here - do Tesco, Sainsbury's or Asda do a syn-free or low syn sausage?

sticktoit · 25/04/2008 11:21

Toadette - Tesco Healthy Living Low Fat pork sausages chilled - 0.5 syn each. Don't know what they're like though - only go to Morrisons now.....

toadette · 25/04/2008 11:27

Thanks, sticktoit. Will get some of those so I can have a cooked breakfast at the weekend, yum!

toadette · 25/04/2008 11:32

Sticktoit, some dinner ideas...maybe use your chicken to make a big chicken and veg stir-fry with soy, garlic, ginger and chilli? Or bake it oven with some roasted veg? Or make a syn-free chicken curry and serve with spinach?

mum2sons · 25/04/2008 12:06

Lost 3lb this week and got my half a stone badge!
I cannot believe how much I am eating..doing mainly green days.
Having a curry tonight, any tips as to what to have for a green day curry? (would do a red day but I get too hungry on red!)

sticktoit · 25/04/2008 14:26

Very well done mum2!! Hope I'll be saying the same on Monday!

Thanks for the meal ideas toadette....popped to shops during lunch and bought some ingredients to make a curry, just hope it's nice. Not much of a cook - well not a cook at all TBH!!

Was looking for those Schwartz Shotz in there but couldn't see anything. Do they still make them does anyone know?? Picked up a jar of 'no added salt' chicken season so give that a whirl!

hectich1979 · 25/04/2008 16:17

mum2sons - I normally put baby veg in my veg curries very yummy and crunchy.

Friday is going to be my weigh in day as I can nip to boots in my dinner and get a print off aswell for 50p!
So weighed in today, only been following sw since Monday this week and already lost 4 lbs so thats a good boost.
hoping to lose 3lb next week if I keep the exercise up every day whilst I still have willpower x

nappyaddict · 25/04/2008 19:39

does anyone know a recipe for biscuits or cookies on sw?

alpech · 25/04/2008 20:17

Hi

This may have been posted before but I wanted to share this with you, I found a fab curry sauce from Asda today, it's from the Good for you range and is a bhuna cooking sauce and it's only 7 syns for the whole jar which easily serves 4, although we had it between 2!

I had it on a green day with my measured amount of chicken and boiled rice - it was lovely and really satisfied my curry cravings and all for just 3.5 syns, roll on the maltesers later.

supersaluki · 25/04/2008 20:48

well today was officially day one

and I have had
strawberries and raspberries with greek 0% fat yog for breakfast

lunch was 3 ryvita tom and basil (heB) with half a healthy a of cheese (other half was milk) tomatoes cucumber and then some fruit

dinner was a huge herb salad with Jacket pot (healthy B of cheese) with homemade coleslaw (2 syns) and two cauldron foods sausages (2 syns)

now I have some syns left so I think I will make myself a really nice mocha for 4 syns

now all I have to do is keep this up over the weekend (they are the hardest for me)

I have been reading all the wonderful weighins you have all been having

well done everyone they are very inspiring

sticktoit · 26/04/2008 09:36

Oh dear! I am sneaking in to make a confession....

Got v.drunk last night and had a curry with rice and chips. Which would be bad enough but then got home and had a chocolate finger eating competition (whilst doing a Marjorie Dawes impression I believe) with DP and then had Go Ahead yogurt slices before falling into bed at 4am......

I do not even want to think about how many syns that all was but this morning I feel awful including have my AF which I haven't had one for about 4 months (am on mini pill). I really want to comfort eat rubbish but so far have had beans and scrambled egg on two slices of brown nimble bread.

Will try and have no syns today and loads of SS foods, but it's only 9.30 so time will tell!!

So with myself!!

mum2sons · 26/04/2008 10:55

I had my curry last night which was yummy. No syns all day but think i went over my quota
Had veg byriani, popadom and sag aloo. Quite oily but managed to avoid the after 8's!!

supersaluki · 26/04/2008 11:16

Sticktoit

after the last few months I can really relate to the comfort eating rubbish - you sound like you had a fab evening though

so flexi syn it and move straight on

remember if you really want to comfort eat try having a drink and putting off the eating for another few minutes (when I have my head round my eating plan this is something I do) the extra fluid wont hurt and with a full stomach you might not need to comfort eat- but if you do you will end up eating less - you need to think complex carbs for times like this so eat green (as you are) and top up on all the free foods you can

its my time of the month next week to I can really relate to the comfort eating thing

nikkid21 · 26/04/2008 11:44

stick to it - you are not alone

I was doing so well yesterday until 5pm - then I got that Friday feeling. Ended up having two huge glasses of wine, a chinese takeaway and half of one of the kids easter egss that was in the fridge.

Am going to be super good until WI on Tuesday pm but think that this might have scuppered my chances of doing the 3lb to reach target.

So far today i've been to the gym and seriously punished myself to make amends. Am just having a brunch of chicken stirfry. Will have chicken breast wrapped in bacon w veg for teas tonight and NO WINE

sticktoit · 26/04/2008 15:52

Thanks both. I've put it behind me and so far have not had any syns and munching on free food. Also drinking lots of water.

I should go to the gym but really don't have the strength - I've fallen asleep twice and I've only been shopping! I so nearly crumbled on smelling the fresh baked bread and cakes.....

Just dreading weighing now on Monday!

WallOfSilence · 26/04/2008 17:08

sticktoit Marjorie Dawes PMSL

Your house sounds like it was fun last night!!

I was good yesterday I think. Had loads of fruit for lunch at work & then had 2 huge baked potatoes done in the oven with beans & mozarella on the, with slices of bacon [HEb]

Then more fruit before bed.

Today I have had 2 poached ehhs & a slice of w/meal bread for brunch.

I am heading out tonight & wondering whether to have a green or red day!!! Any ideas? It's just a pub we are for but we are going to be having a meal too. They usually do plain ordinary food so I will see what's on the menu that I fancy. Thinking soup for starters as it will fill me up & make me want less dinner...

kid · 26/04/2008 23:07

I have managed to stick to SW for 4 days now, no cheating at all. I hope those scales are kind to me at the end of the first week.

I feel slimmer even if the scales don't show much. I must exercise though, I need to tone up pretty drastically, just over 6 weeks till my holiday.

nappyaddict · 27/04/2008 00:11

here's a recipe for gingerbread biscuits or bic bic as my ds calls them.

Syns per biscuit:
2½ Syns on Green and Original
Preparation time:
30 minutes
Cooking time:
Approximately 10-15 minutes
Ingredients
5oz/142g plain flour
2½ oz/71g self-raising flour
2½oz/71g cornflour
1oz/28g artificial sweetener
2 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp finely chopped glace ginger
2 level tbsp butter
2 level tbsp low fat soft cheese
1 tbsp oil
1 egg
¼ tsp almond or vanilla essence
Method

  1. Sift the plain flour, self-raising flour, cornflour, sweetener and ground ginger into a bowl. Mix in the glace ginger.
  2. Beat together the butter, low fat soft cheese, oil, egg and essence in a separate bowl. Add the flour mixture and mix quickly into a dough. If too dry, add a few drops of cold water. Knead gently, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Transfer to a floured board and roll out to ½ cm thickness. Cut into 30 shapes and place on a lined baking sheet. Bake at 170°C/325°F/Gas 3 for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Place on a wire rack to cool before serving.
