Eat the Muffin top - Week 4 .... May the force be with us

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 24/03/2008 14:07

Hi everyone. Thought I'd start the new weigh in thread. Well according to my scales I've put on 3/4 of a pound which is freakin infuriating. However, it has given me the kick up the bum that I needed. I was aiming to lose 8lbs in the first 5 weeks and if i don't pull my finger out that's not going to happen.

I totally succumbed to the easter eggs and ate LOADS of chocolate yesterday as well as a big roast dinner I've put all the children's eggs in a box in the fridge (all the ones that are open) out of sight...wish me luck!

I know everyone has struggled the last week or two. I don't know if you saw the thread about 'I only want to talk to thin, gorgeous people' it was another mnetter wanting to lose weight. She didn't want to join a dieting thread only to find fellow fatties (or something along those lines) excusing each failure to lose weight. I have to say it made my heart sink, I've always got a 'good' reason why I can't stick to my diet (meal out, going to friends, special occasions, feeling crap etc) but I'm going to really try and think positive this week and lose some blardy weight.

So this is my helpful tip for the week (!) If you are someone (like me) who really craves a sweet treat but doesn't really like fruit. Marks and Spencers sell packs of six bags of sweet popcorn (aimed at children) It's only 55 cal a bag and 0.1g sat fat (that's 1/2 point for ww people. They are yummy and really feel like you've had a treat.

Hope you are feeling better Buda

Oh and apologies for that badly punctuated post

Nice post Dances.

There are too many excuses. I need to get on with it, not put it off and hope for a miracle. At this rate I am not going to get my stone by the end of May.

Anyway, I have lost half a pound which is not good because as of last Friday I had lost 2 lbs but it has all gone wrong this weekend (damn those roast dinners, blast those Easter eggs). Serves me right for weighing mid week and getting my hopes up but 1/2 lb is better than nothing I suppose.

Anyway, onwards and upwards - no more excuses.

piratecat · 24/03/2008 17:41

zilch here, most disapppointing as i thought it was going well.

goodbye easter.!!

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 24/03/2008 18:45

Thanks Niecie
PirateCat - it may catch up with you next week, that often happens.

OP posts:
piratecat · 24/03/2008 19:09

i so hope so, i am still waiting for week 3's too catch up too!!

arghhhh, what can i eat thats filling, and nutritious.

keepcalmandcarryon · 24/03/2008 19:30

ok, 10 st 9.5lb this morning, so 3.5lbs off this week, 6.5lb since we started

I know what you mean Dances about the diet excuses thread - when I read about other MNers having a tough time I do so empathise, and always want to support them. I know when I post on here saying I've gained, and it's crap, I have appreciated the support. Otherwise people drift away, if they feel they aren't losing 'enough', which isn't the point at all.

Where is everyone? Calling all muffin toppers?!

Come on folks, post on the thread, whatever's happening. Maybe tommorrow am when the kids are back at school? which will feel more like the real Monday

Just for the record, and PLEASE don't think I'm being smug here, I dug some jeans out of the drawer on Sat am that I haven't been able to fit into EVER. Internet shopping, arrives, and doesn't fit, "oh arse, into the bottom drawer". SO I put them on. And they fitted. Waltzed round the house and village all day like bloody Keeley Hawes in lycra jeans and heeled boots, with the BIGGEST smile on my face.

Again, please don't hate me for a smug cow, just wanted to share a small but significant triumph.

How are things with everyone else?

piratecat · 24/03/2008 19:37

no thats not smug, thats brilliant, you are working hard!!

thing is my stomach looks alot smaller, than it did two weeks back, so really expected some loss on the scales.

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 24/03/2008 21:46

OOOOOOOOooooooh, clothes fitting is brilliant! Remember that feeling when the dc's easter eggs are calling to you from the cupboard

Well have had a virtuous eating day today so hopefully this is the start of a good week. Too weird that it's monday today, I am totally on Sunday. I like these 4 day weeks!

OP posts:
keepcalmandcarryon · 24/03/2008 21:52

thanks piratecat. well done on the incredible shrinking stomach! keep at it. It's SO rubbish when you think you've had a good week but the scales don't think so.

filling and nutritious? per your 7pm post - are you talking for a meal or a snack? or am I two hours too late?

piratecat · 25/03/2008 08:04

no I need inspiration for filling and nutritious.

My body is not happy with the rye bread ihave been eating, even tho I find it filling , and prob only have one slice a day.

Do you think Ihave to do that thing, the 'filling up with veggies and salad' (bleaugh).

tbh I dont think i have been eating enough. cos how can I be hungry but not lose any wieght?

Buda · 25/03/2008 08:32

Hi all.

Feeling better thanks. So much so that I have a hangover from too much wine last night and have just had two slices of toast with butter and jam.

Have someone coming over for dinner tonight too so I will abandon diet for today and start PROPERLY tomorrow. Am also trying to improve DS's diet so a healthy eating plan is in store for the Buda household generally.

SheherazadetheGoat · 25/03/2008 08:36

still haven't lost anything, but did manage to get out for a test run yesterday and back is definitely on the mend so hopefully next week i will have lost loads!

well done on teh jeans kc&co.

bellabelly · 25/03/2008 09:57

Weighed myself again this morning and definitely haven't lost anything since last week but then haven't gained anything either. Went for a long walk yesterday and was secretly hoping that the scales would notice how virtuous I'd been!!!

Keepcalm, that is fab about the jeans fitting now - another few weeks and they will be TOO BIG!!!

Piratecat, yes filling up on veggies and salad sounds like a good idea! Sorry if taht's not what you want to hear. But also drinking LOADS of water helps to fill you up too, as well as flushing out the system.

I am going to try to fit in a bit more exercise this week - will be gutted if I don't lose at least a pound this week...

IndigoMoon · 25/03/2008 10:44

Farkin soup AGAIN here...grrrrr....

OP posts:
ladytophamhatt · 25/03/2008 17:29

Oh, can I join this one please?

Not entirely sure how it happened but the jeans I bought recently seem to now give me the most incredible muffin top even though I had to wear a belt when I bought them....

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my addiction to peanutbutter, on lavishly buttered toast (white un-cut bread ). I only had 4 slices for breakfast yesterday.

That wouldn't make me fat would it??

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 25/03/2008 17:32

LTH...of course it would wouldn't. Still maybe better a bowl of shreddies tomorrow

You are welcome to join us We weigh in on a monday and sympthasise during the rest of the week! Everyone's lovely except piratecat (but there' always one)

OP posts:
ladytophamhatt · 25/03/2008 17:36

Oh...a weigh in....hang on...back in a mo...

beansprout · 25/03/2008 17:43

No weight change for me this week which is better than the gain I had last week but still pants. Still, I haven't exactly made a huge effort this week so I shouldn't expect any better. As someone else said, given how much of the time I feel hungry, I would have thought I would be doing a bit better!!

Agree that I need to stop making excuses! Welcome to the new people!!

ladytophamhatt · 25/03/2008 17:43

A day late but as I'm a late comer.....

9st 11lbs

I usually weigh between 9st3lb-9st 5lbs, depending on the time of month.
The fact that I've just had my period prob mean I've lost a bit in water retention over the last few days.

So I want to rid myself of the 7lb muffin top, I'm utterly shite at sticking to a diet so you'll all have to nag nag nag nag nag nag.

I did just chuck out the last 3rd of a jar of peanut butter...so I'm giving myself a round of appaluse

beansprout · 25/03/2008 17:44

Oh and well done keepcalm!!
lol at your "Keeley" - how depressing is Ashes to Ashes?!! I'm so !!

beansprout · 25/03/2008 17:47

Can we list what we are all doing to shift the weight? Some top tips might be useful?!!
I am NOT finishing any of ds1's food (mothers ruin) and only snacking on fruit. One biscuit or bit of choc after dinner is allowed. I think I need to consider my portion sizes though

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 25/03/2008 17:49

Well done! Can I re-iterate my popcorn from M&S tip as a great low fat but SWEET treat if you need one. Will nag you later when I've finished rooting through your bin giving the children their tea
