Eat the Muffin top - Week 4 .... May the force be with us

Hi everyone. Thought I'd start the new weigh in thread. Well according to my scales I've put on 3/4 of a pound which is freakin infuriating. However, it has given me the kick up the bum that I needed. I was aiming to lose 8lbs in the first 5 weeks and if i don't pull my finger out that's not going to happen.

I totally succumbed to the easter eggs and ate LOADS of chocolate yesterday as well as a big roast dinner I've put all the children's eggs in a box in the fridge (all the ones that are open) out of sight...wish me luck!

I know everyone has struggled the last week or two. I don't know if you saw the thread about 'I only want to talk to thin, gorgeous people' it was another mnetter wanting to lose weight. She didn't want to join a dieting thread only to find fellow fatties (or something along those lines) excusing each failure to lose weight. I have to say it made my heart sink, I've always got a 'good' reason why I can't stick to my diet (meal out, going to friends, special occasions, feeling crap etc) but I'm going to really try and think positive this week and lose some blardy weight.

So this is my helpful tip for the week (!) If you are someone (like me) who really craves a sweet treat but doesn't really like fruit. Marks and Spencers sell packs of six bags of sweet popcorn (aimed at children) It's only 55 cal a bag and 0.1g sat fat (that's 1/2 point for ww people. They are yummy and really feel like you've had a treat.

Hope you are feeling better Buda

Right so the list so far is...

oooh, oooh, oooh - just what i need ! can I join in please?

am currently 11 st 4 and need to lose a stone - 2 would be fab but 1 will do for a start!

had greek salad for lunch ( home made no dressing , with feta and a slice of buttered granary bread) and have eaten loads of fruit this afternoon at work.

day 1 going well... (until I get home and see all the uneaten Easter eggs lying around!)

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 25/03/2008 17:55

Urm...I'm trying not to snack at all during the morning. I'm also eating very low fat lunches so that if I do snack in the afternoon (my worst time) I've not overeaten before I even get to dinner time.

Welcome wohmum.

CURSE THOSE FRICKIN EASTER EGGS
Everytime I open the fridge they wave and wink at me...grrrr...

beansprout · 25/03/2008 18:02

My worst time is the afternoon, and, um the evening as well. I can be fine all day and then just scoff too much in the evening. Doh!

ladytophamhatt · 26/03/2008 09:17

Bowl of specila K and a cuppa thsi morning.

No thick white bread + butter + peanut in sight.

Off to playgroup now where I WILL resist the biscuits.

JingleyJen · 26/03/2008 09:20

I am not going to weigh in this week,, I really think I have gained and the fear of that is motivating me to be good.. I am not going to get on the scales until next monday.

AnAngelWithin · 26/03/2008 11:11

hello ladies

sorry ive not been around much. staying off mn a bit really. i have been ill with a tummy bug the past 5 days, so im really still trying to get back on my feet and starting to eat again. Weighed myself this morning. 12 stone on the dot now. so ive lost a couple of pounds. the kids are all ill so not really got much chance for exersize. Severely sleep deprived too, im just concentrating on getting better really and getting the kids better.

me and dh only had one easter egg between us and its still sat in the fridge.

I bought a trampette a week ago. in the argos sale. was only £11. it was fun the first time i tried it and when i feel up to it i will go on it again.

might go out for a little walk in a bit if the children are up to it. the fresh air might do us all good.

well done to all who have lost.

keepcalmandcarryon · 26/03/2008 13:28

hello all, and welcome to newcomers, and nice to see you AAW - sorry you've been ill.

beansprout and piratecat asked for what we're doing to shift it - more bloody soup in my case (so cold here can't face salad) - make enormous batch with lentils in, find that really filling.

There was a thread on here recently I found interesting, but can't find it now, where you don't eat or drink any calories after your evening meal. What does everyone think of that? You obv couldn't scarf down the Creme Eggs all day

Niecie · 26/03/2008 14:19

Not eating in the evening would work for me I have no doubt. That is my danger time - sitting on the sofa or at my desk, stuffing my face.

If I could cut out all of that I have no doubt that I would lose weight as I am not too bad during the day. I think being tired makes you crave sugar and also sitting still for long periods gives you the opportunity to eat too.

Not sure soup would do it for me though. I don't like it enough. Mind you I had it for tea last night (feeling lazy) and enjoyed it but I couldn't face another bowl today.

Haven't had a creme egg yet. I am resisting tempation since I have 14 of them. My mum gave me a box of 12 - I think she thinks I am 12 sometimes. The other two were acquired somewhere down the line. I know if I have one then I will have another one, and then another and another.......

piratecat · 26/03/2008 14:21

is it really only 4 weeks.
bah, no loss for the past 2. being good today tho.

beansprout · 26/03/2008 17:55

Have ordered a post-natal exercise dvd. I know that if I eat less, my metabolism will just adjust accordingly so have to move more if I am going to succeed here.

Rats.

sagacious · 26/03/2008 18:16

Back but struggling
I weighted myself this morning and I am only 1 pound off what I started

I need to get back on track

(sorry for the whinge)

ladytophamhatt · 26/03/2008 18:26

totally forgot about my new healthy eating regime today and while we were out I had a cream tea.

Was half way through the 2nd half of scone and remembered.

Ooops.

Havne't had any chocolate or binged on biscuits like I usually do. Just one lonesome ginger nut...which again I only ate because I forgot I shouldn't. I need to wear a badge saying 'I'm not supoosed to be eating this...take it away from me.'

Nothing for dinner yet, aprt froma few bits of scambled egg taht ds4 force fed me. I'll prob have a bowl of cereal for dinner later to cancel out the cream tea

CaptainKarvol · 27/03/2008 09:15

Hi, can I come in? I weighed myself this morning (for the first time in weeks) because my new trousers gave me a lovely muffin top. And I'm 66kg (10 stone 4). I was 9 stone 12 last time I weighed myself. I haven't dieted for years and years - I used to be one of those stick thin, eat what you like folk, but I think age and finishing DS's fish-fingers for him are counting against me! So I've started going running again, and am trying to figure out how to go about dieting. I'm reading my old Rosemary Conley books with a decidedly heavy heart. Any tips? I don't really know what I'm doing wrong, but there must be something! I'm aiming to get down to 9 stone 7. And the effort might take my mind off my continuing TTC obsession

bellabelly · 27/03/2008 09:27

Weighed myself this morning and had lost 3lbs since Monday. Then the scales flashed up an error message and I got back on and weighed exactly the same as on Monday morning, ie NO LOSS since last week... Grrr!

DH is taking me out for wedding anniversary dinner tonight so will NOT be dieting this evening! But will try to go for loooooong walk today to burn off some lard in advance. Looks like a lovely sunny day outside so must resist temptation to sit on my arse in the sunshine instead!

Niecie - 14 cream eggs at home? I would have to throw them in bin or give them away, I think!

beansprout · 27/03/2008 10:12

CaptainK - you are very welcome!! And good luck with ttc!

Bella - how you haven't taken an axe and smashed those scales up, I don't know!! That's a real bummer.

Think I am doing ok here, am trying to do a lot more walking which is about all I can do with a 9wo baby!!

beansprout · 27/03/2008 10:14

Oh and my only suggestion for 14 creme eggs is that you send us all one each. Then we will all be on a level pegging and no-one is any worse off.

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 27/03/2008 14:52

AAAAAAAAaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgh, someone help me, I've just eaten 3 mini eggs and I could happily eat another 10 more! STOP ME!

OP posts:
beansprout · 27/03/2008 15:40

WALK AWAY FROM THE MINI EGGS!!!!!

beansprout · 27/03/2008 15:40

STOP NOW AND NO-ONE WILL GET HURT!!!

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 27/03/2008 16:37

It's too late I'm going to have to have soup for tea now....

OP posts:
Niecie · 27/03/2008 16:51

I could give away my creme eggs I suppose.....

But it would be a little rude after my dear old mother gave them to me specially wouldn't it?

Can't I just count them and stroke them a bit lift a corner of the wrapper and sniff them once a day a la Charlie Bucket.

Anyway, I wouldn't want anybody else to 'suffer' the way I am suffering.

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 27/03/2008 17:06

For gawds sake... I don't want to hear anymore talk about chocolate. I'm so WEAK!

OP posts:
beansprout · 27/03/2008 18:05

Lol at Charlie Bucket

Ok, we are possibly one of the crappest slimming threads on MN, so let's make a pact that we don't talk about how dreamy chocolate is, as it melts on your tongue and washes all your troubles away....

piratecat · 27/03/2008 18:35

lmao @ possibly the crappest slimming club on mumsnet

can it be our new name???
