Eat the Muffin top - Week 4 .... May the force be with us

Hi everyone. Thought I'd start the new weigh in thread. Well according to my scales I've put on 3/4 of a pound which is freakin infuriating. However, it has given me the kick up the bum that I needed. I was aiming to lose 8lbs in the first 5 weeks and if i don't pull my finger out that's not going to happen.

I totally succumbed to the easter eggs and ate LOADS of chocolate yesterday as well as a big roast dinner I've put all the children's eggs in a box in the fridge (all the ones that are open) out of sight...wish me luck!

I know everyone has struggled the last week or two. I don't know if you saw the thread about 'I only want to talk to thin, gorgeous people' it was another mnetter wanting to lose weight. She didn't want to join a dieting thread only to find fellow fatties (or something along those lines) excusing each failure to lose weight. I have to say it made my heart sink, I've always got a 'good' reason why I can't stick to my diet (meal out, going to friends, special occasions, feeling crap etc) but I'm going to really try and think positive this week and lose some blardy weight.

So this is my helpful tip for the week (!) If you are someone (like me) who really craves a sweet treat but doesn't really like fruit. Marks and Spencers sell packs of six bags of sweet popcorn (aimed at children) It's only 55 cal a bag and 0.1g sat fat (that's 1/2 point for ww people. They are yummy and really feel like you've had a treat.

Hope you are feeling better Buda

wow mmj! It is only fair that you should get something out of being horribly ill.

Weighed myself again today and am down another half a pound. Which is a bit weird seeing as I couldn't be bothered to go for even a very short walk yesterday... Anyhow am teetering on the brink of having lost a whole stone since we started (are we on week 5 now or week 6?) One more pound to go and then I've lost a stone! Just 3 more stone to lose after that...

CaptainKarvol · 03/04/2008 10:50

oooh, it's all feeling very good over here (apart from MMJ, you poor thing, hope you are feeling much better very soon).

Thanks to those who answered the weighing question, and sorry I haven't been back for days - work is pretty heavy at the moment and I can rarely get on mn.

Anyhoo, I caved in and weighed myself this morning, and I've lost 4lbs in the first week . I can go to my friends wedding feeling good, and hopefully not hiding from all the photos! Yesterday was impossible for the diet - was at a work event at the other end of the country, and the only veggie food offered was smothered in cheese and mayo... but am back on the track today.

piratecat · 03/04/2008 14:46

well done everyone!!!

we are all heading in the right direction. Most have lost, and if not, have NOT put ON any more weight than when we started, so it IS successful!!!

Just think I could have carried on the way I was and not lost a thing.

Bella, that one stone beckons, thats fantastic.

tmmj, I hope your recovery is swift, what was wrong?? Yet 8lbs, it IS some sort of compensation. good for you!

beansprout · 05/04/2008 07:46

How is everyone getting on? I can feel my resolve slipping as the weekend kicks in. I'm sure this is where it goes wrong every week.

Bella - a stone is just brilliant! Well done you.

keepcalmandcarryon · 05/04/2008 13:54

hello everyone - well done Bella on your stone - that's FABULOUS!!

Beansprout - hang on to that resolve. That was great about you having to take back trousers because they were too big! Hope the weather is nice where you are so you can escape the stuck-indoors-wanting-to-scoff moment.

well have just done ds2's 6th birthday party, 9 kids running around outside and a lunch party. Decided it was valid to have a small slice of birthday cake (I have the BEST choc cake recipe ever, btw, but wd be completely contrary to the spirit of this thread to post it )

Did really well at not scoffing any of the other goodies, specially the chocolate crispie cakes. Suppose I make a deal with myself that if I make myself wait that long, I can have ONE with Dr Who tonight? In the more usual course of events I would have scoffed at least three while 'clearing up' , so see one as an improvement.

Any one out there to help me keep away from the cake tin ?

[hears the thread shout STEP AWAY FROM THE CAKE TIN]

keepcalmandcarryon · 05/04/2008 21:10

ok, where is everyone?

bellabelly · 06/04/2008 00:24

Step AWAY from caketin, keepcalm! Suspect I may be too late seeing as it's now gone midnight... hope you stayed reasonably strong. Anyway, like you said, one with Dr Who is miles better than 3 while clearing up and then more with Dr Who!

I walked lots today - good. But went out for lunch and had a few chips with my burger - bad. But my horse came first in the Grand National so am in fab mood. Just wish I'd put more money on so I could have won enough to pay for personal trainer and possibly extreme liposuction...

piratecat · 06/04/2008 10:04

lol bella well done on the horse!!

weird day in devon here today, beautiful sunshine, then snow about half an hour ago, now sunshine again.

keepcalmandcarryon · 06/04/2008 20:50

thanks bella - have been urging cake on DC's all day to reduce the temptation! well done on the winner

did avoid cake tin last night but quite a lot of red wine seemed to have been drunk instead, whoops.

Have spent day sledging (woken at 6.45 by cries of "SNOW!!!", on the slopes by 8.45, snow gone by 10am. That's our three hours of winter for this year in Somerset, then) and also digging in veg garden.

Now feeling really pleasantly tired and have just had a hot bath - have that great feeling of being a bit achy but all clean and warm. Mmm.

Hope all the exercise will pay off on weigh in!
