Hi, started phase 1 today, anyone else following the reset in 2024?

OP posts:

@potkettle1 - follow as many people as you can with HBD in their name. The more you follow, the more it will suggest them to you and they’ll follow you back. I’m careful to only use my HBD account to follow HBD related accounts and it seems to keep it pretty clean. I don’t get too much other stuff suggested to me.

If you tag your posts with #HBD #HBDNewbie etc that will help too. Also feel free to ask your questions here and we’ll try to help. You’ll notice if you follow Petronella Ravenshear herself there are a few quite well-known HBD accounts that she tends to feature and I think people often PM them directly as they’re
pretty helpful too.

I’m just over eight weeks in now, I had about five days away at Easter where I fell off the wagon but got back on when I returned, I’m at about 19lbs off with about the same to go.

potkettle1 · 26/04/2024 05:34

Thanks @ItsNotEasyBeingGreens . I hadn't thought to PM people on Instagram so that's helpful. Well done on your amazing success. And for getting back on it after Easter. I have a 4 day holiday mid May and am not expecting to stick fully to the rules whilst I'm away, but will hopefully get back to it on my return 😁 .

I think as long as you know you’ll plan on getting straight back on it, and you’re already in P3, then you should just enjoy it if you want to! I just had my Apple each day, drank the full amount of water, to keep those habits but enjoyed the rest!

potkettle1 · 26/04/2024 05:50

Thanks that's good advice. I might try and stick to the 5 hours if possible too. I don't think the food will be a huge problem - I'm going with girlfriends, none of whom eat a lot 🙄, but it'll be the alcohol consumption that's not at all HBD friendly 😀 (and crisps).

Oh yes, the five hours is a good idea. I mostly kept to black tea and coffee as well, didn’t want to get used to it again.

Knotty10 · 26/04/2024 06:43

i started 2 weeks ago and lost 12lbs! I’m enjoying it so far and the quick weight loss is very motivating. The amount of preparation has been hard to build into a busy life so I’ve needed to do a lot of meal planning and prep at the weekend.
I feel like I have lots of energy until the evening when I could go to bed at 8 quite happily!
it’s a great diet though- I can imagine these habits sticking which is good as I’ve got another 3 stone to lose.

Fluffywithteeth · 26/04/2024 09:04

@potkettle1 thats brilliant that into week 2 you’re finding it easier and getting great results! I’m still doing huel during the weekend and eating properly at the weekends and averaging about 2lbs/week loss but I really like the idea of the underlying metabolic change you get with hbd so am planning to start May 7th once some planned social things are done

what do you prep @Knotty10 ? I’m thinking about doing some now (homemade stock etc) !

Knotty10 · 26/04/2024 12:29

That’s exactly what I did— veg stock, dahl for the freezer, cook chicken for lunch etc. I also write a meal plan. I get lots of ideas from Instagram as well as a hbd collaborative cookbook on kindle.
I really love it and it has definitely worked so far. Just need to keep going! Onto phase 3 next week. Like you, I waited until I had nothing much in the calendar and that’s made it easier to get through the first 2 weeks.

potkettle1 · 26/04/2024 15:39

@Knotty10 when do you finish P2? Tues 30th for me 🥳🥳

Knotty10 · 26/04/2024 16:41

@potkettle1 finish on Sunday 28th. I’ve got so excited looking at phase 3 meals I need to keep reminding myself I’m not there yet!

potkettle1 · 01/05/2024 07:21

Happy to have reached P3 today. But disappointed with my overall weight loss. 6llbs over the 16 days and have lost nothing since the last weigh in 9 days ago. Have been sticking strictly to the plan (although not getting enough sleep - waking early). 6llbs overall in P1/2 is much less than I expected and have heard from others. I have an underactive thyroid although am on medication for this.

Any tips from the seasoned HBDers?

Alltheshoes74 · 01/05/2024 13:39

Hi Ladies,
Can I join you? Its my second time around - first time I lost almost 2 stone and got complacent, put all the weight back on due to WFH, snacking and far too much wine. Am now late 40's and need to lose 2-3 stone, am fed up of feeling bloated, having bad skin and an expensive wardrobe which doesn't fit!! Am on P2D1 - so far today its been youghurt&cherries / smoked salmon and salad - am having eggs for dinner

Syan7 · 01/05/2024 15:55

@potkettle1 I’m really sorry to hear you’ve put all that hard work in and haven’t seen the results you’d hoped for? Unfortunately I only started 8 weeks ago so can’t offer any real advice but it does seem strange? Can you share you share an example of what you’ve been doing? Only reason I ask I because for first few days I was having walnuts with apple for pudding not realising I could only have it for breakfast! When you say not enough sleep? How much? I have 2 little ones so broken sleep is regular in my house and it definitely affects my weight. Have you been drinking 2 litres of water?? Also if you don’t have much weight to lose then it will be much slower??

@Alltheshoes74 join away and welcome back! How long did it take you to put the weight back on?? What did you do in phase 4?? I’ve got another 4-6 weeks of phase 3 and need to decide what to do in phase 4?

potkettle1 · 01/05/2024 16:34

@Syan7 thanks for your thoughts. It is really odd and quite dispiriting. Although I have lost a few inches from my bust and 2 from my waist which is a welcome NSV.

I'm not really sure where I've gone wrong. I've followed the plan pretty slavishly. Perhaps going over the veg allowance occasionally, but probably only with a bit more lettuce and cucumber. Maybe haven't drunk all the water as I loose track. Sleep - I'm waking early every day so only getting about 5-6 hours a night. I've had smoked salmon for breakfast almost every day (expensive) so am wondering whether I'm retaining water from salty food. But really my diet compared to usual has been exemplary and very low cal, so it's really odd not to have lost anything in the last 9 days. I do have an underactive thyroid (treated with meds) so it could be that my metabolism is just particularly slow 🤔.

Not getting much engagement when I've posted this on IG, so might PM some of the HBD top dogs! I'm find the q and a aspect of this programme a bit frustrating tbh. The weekly lives are interesting but there's no proper space for questions. Not everything is in the book. I've read it several times 😍

potkettle1 · 01/05/2024 16:48

@Alltheshoes74 welcome back 🥰

Knotty10 · 01/05/2024 16:58

@potkettle1 totally agree on the community thing- I don’t really understand how to access this support through instagram?!? I think PMing some of the experts is a good idea- let us know what they say. Well done on the NSV!

MissisBoote · 02/05/2024 07:25

@potkettle1 6lb is still a great weight loss though but it does seem odd that you've not lost anything in the last 9 days. Have you been going to the toilet regularly?

I'm not really sure what to suggest. My weight loss stalled for the first three weeks of phase 3 so be prepared for that. But if you're seeing inch loss then it's definitely working. Sometimes the benefits of the diet are not immediately visible on the scales.

I stupidly didn't finish phase 3 - i think i got maybe 6 weeks into it. I definitely looked at it as a fast fix instead of a permanent lifestyle change which is ridiculous as I looked and felt amazing. Honestly - i think the main issue is accepting that at a certain age the old way of living does not work and you have to start to change how you live and eat to continue looking good

potkettle1 · 02/05/2024 18:03

They didn't reply 😔 😂

Thanks @MissisBoote . I've decided to be ok with it as my clothes are definitely fitting better but I was a bit shocked yesterday. And yes probably a bit constipated 😕

@Alltheshoes74 I hope you're able to this time. I guess having done it and felt great and then not done it helps you understand why it's a good plan. I sound like I've really drunk the KOOL aid 😂. Although I am still hungry much of the time, particularly in the 3-5 hours period after each meal 🥴

MissisBoote · 02/05/2024 19:01

@potkettle1 where does your current weight sit in the healthy weight range for your height?

potkettle1 · 02/05/2024 19:13

@MissisBoote high end of overweight 😏

potkettle1 · 02/05/2024 19:13

28

Fluffywithteeth · 05/05/2024 17:11

Ok I’m finally going to start this diet on Tues - ladies what prep do you recommend as I’d like to get a few meals sorted so it’s not such a mad rush when I’m also doing the family meals. I’ve already made some fat free veg stock and activated some walnuts. I’m planning to make lots of fat free veg soup and some P2 lentil curry for freezer…. What else works?
