Hi, started phase 1 today, anyone else following the reset in 2024?

@Fluffywithteeth wow you’ve stuck at it since May! Well done 👏 If you can’t have a bad month in December then when can you?! Tbh I wish I’d gotten on the scales sooner as I would have address the weight gain earlier but I was too scared to! So did you cut carbs for phase 4 as well then? Never quite made it that far. I really wasn’t enjoying it towards the end and don’t think I did it for long enough to break bad habits

Fluffywithteeth · 05/01/2025 19:44

Ah thanks @Syan7 ! Yes it really did / does work. I went from 72kg to just under 64kg - I really didn’t feel like I suffered and I maintained that from July to Nov … I did lose motivation to get down to my absolute ideal though which is 60 so I’m going to go for that this time round . Are you going to go again? X

Syan7 · 10/01/2025 22:31

@Fluffywithteeth sorry I’ve only just seen this. I did the first couple of days and couldn’t do it! I just don’t have the will power this time around to do the 16 days - probably because I’ve been eating so badly. Im loosely sticking to phase 3. No carbs this week and I’ve got a Fitbit and been going for walks as I really want to get back into exercise. I’ve lost 4lbs this week so I’m still happy. I was constantly light headed last time too and I have 2 small boys and need to keep my energy up. I feel like this approach is more sustainable for my lifestyle. Seriously applaud you! I wish I had your determination. I’m sure you’ll hit your 60kg x

That sounds really sensible - and like it’s working for you! Young kids takes it out of you for sure …. I couldn’t have done it when mine were that age. A lot of the ladies say that just going back to p3 sorts them out …. I just felt I’d gone so off track I needed to have the ‘austerity’ of a reset to enjoy being in p3 if you know what I mean. 4lbs is excellent …. ! And it’s the finding a sustainable way to eat that’s the real prize and sounds like you’re doing that. Keep going! Xx

Hello, I did well on it from Feb to the summer and then wavered and struggled. I felt great while doing it and terrible after stopping, so I’m back on P1 D1 reset now and trying the new community thing for it on Circle to try to keep me galvanised.

Hey @ItsNotEasyBeingGreens ! I absolutely k is that feeling …. Felt great on it, crap off it and so annoyed to have had this detour! I’m p2 d3 now and already feeling better. There’s another thread with a few of us on …. Hbd reset. I also joined circle but only the 10/month option …. Not sure it’s worth it for be tbh will be interested toneharbwhat you think. Well done for restarting!! 👏🏼 x

Syan7 · 11/01/2025 23:27

Hello@ItsNotEasyBeingGreens ! I remember :) Sorry to hear that. Why do you think you wavered? Did you go into phase 4? I think long term it’s a pretty tough regime to stick too so you did well! Good luck for the reset. I’ve never heard of circle? I’ll look it up. Eating wheat and gluten free is a must for me. I knew it anyway but the diet confirmed it. Even this weekend I had a toasted gf roll and gf treats. I’ve taken a more relaxed approach - it might take me longer but I don’t carry the physiological guilt of feeling like a failure for not being militant. I was becoming quite obsessed over it! X

UnimaginableWindBird · 14/02/2025 10:56

Hello. Are you all still here? I'm thinking if starting, but I'm wondering how you manage to combine this way of eating with cooking for a family? I am planning to take myself out of the family food equation altogether for phases 1 and 2 and prep my own food and get DH to cook for everyone else, but I feel that for phase 3 I should be trying to integrate my meals with the family meals, particularly as I have around 5 stone to lose so will realistically be in phase 3 for a long time.

Syan7 · 14/02/2025 21:15

Hi @UnimaginableWindBird . Well done for being ready to start your weight loss journey! Hopefully I won’t be the only person to share my opinion with you on this but coming from someone with 2 boys aged 4&5 - it’s bloody hard to maintain this diet! I stuck to it religiously last summer for almost 3 months and lost over 2 stone. A family trauma happened and it went out the window. By Xmas I had put the weight back on and so I tried again in the new year only to fail miserably. It’s mainly the meal prep. I have to plan the week ahead and then buy the food and then cook/prep each night so I have something for the following day. Life is so busy and hectic- I work full time as well as having the house and family life to run and unfortunately it hasn’t been manageable or sustainable for me but that doesn’t mean that it won’t be for you! Planning would come with any diet which is why I’m feeling miserable about it because I just can’t see how I’ll ever get myself together! I don’t have time for exercise either.

In answer to your question yes you’d eventually be able to incorporate some of it such as sharing the same vegetables as them and if they’re having a roast then just meat and veg - no potatoes or gravy etc but say goodbye to one pot easy meals for everyone. I actually wasn’t too tempted by their food I just quickly got bored of eating whole foods - another chicken or salmon fillet etc. I probably should have got more inventive but a stir fry for example is such a tiny portion that I’d always regret it. There’s also energy levels to consider because they might dip throughout the diet and I struggled with that the most.

The diet definitely does work and pretty quickly but it’s brutal to start with and long term didn’t work for my lifestyle. I also got quite obsessed with it and I’m not sure how healthy that was. Ideally I would like to stick to a balanced diet and exercise - how I used to manage before I had kids and never lost my baby weight!

good luck whatever you decide to do

MissisBoote · 16/02/2025 21:35

@UnimaginableWindBird I have older children so I found it much easier to just add carbs or bigger portions to their meals. Sometimes I'd have separate meals for ease if everyone else wanted something like pasta, and I'd just have fish and green veg or a Dal from the freezer but the meals I cook now aren't too different to what we used to eat, it's just that now my portions are better balanced.

You definitely need to be organised, but batch cooking helps with this. And have some fall back meals that you can easily pull together.

I've been on phase 4 for over 18 months now and find it pretty sustainable so I'd absolutely recommend it as a way of eating. It is a complete lifestyle change and there's no going back to old ways if you want to maintain the weight loss. For me, I find the the health benefits are what keep me on plan as I feel so much better than I did before. No sugar cravings, no bloatedness, no peri symptoms.

Shout if you have questions if you decide to give it a go

UnimaginableWindBird · 16/02/2025 21:49

Thanks @MissisBoote. I tried entering some sample phase 3 meals into nutracheck to check the nutritional breakdown, and i couldn't get anywhere near enough fibre by sticking to the rules.

So although there are a lot of elements that make sense which I will be incorporating into my life, I'm going to be adding enough elements to get a decent amount of fibre.

MissisBoote · 18/02/2025 12:22

That's interesting that you say that @UnimaginableWindBird - I just totted up the fibre in a days intake based on the meals I'm having today and it worked out at 34g which is at the higher end of the fibre recommendation per day. That was with having one meal with pulses as my protein.

UnimaginableWindBird · 18/02/2025 15:03

@MissisBoote how did you manage that? I tried various combinations of veg, but even with one meal of 160g of chickpeas I can't get the fibre over 23g with an apple and 380g of veg.

MissisBoote · 18/02/2025 17:43

So looking at today's food

Blueberries (3g) and sunflower seeds (3g) = 6g
Chickpeas (27g) butternut squash (1.2g) tomatoes (0.5g) = 28.7g
70g Broccoli (1.8g) 60g green beans (2g)
apple (4g) = 7.8g

Total 42.5

It actually ended up higher because I forgot about the butternut squash and apple - which is always a large one so more fibre.

alexaismyfriend · 22/02/2025 23:57

Hi- I've been lurking on this thread as was all set to start HBD for the first time a few weeks ago but have been horribly ill with coughs, cold etc etc so postponed starting it..
I'm trying to figure out the best time to get going and wanted to ask people's advice about Phase 1 in particular and whether you felt so awful you didn't want to leave the house?!

Clearingaspace · 23/02/2025 15:15

Hello I did this diet briefly last year and it was good but I can’t cope with not drinking milky tea and coffee all day. Lurking as I would like to try a more relaxed version one day!

@alexaismyfriend phase 1 is ok so long as you are prepared with things like cauliflower rice, sliced mushrooms, lots of avocados or whatever veg you like. Make a soup in advance etc. I had cinnamon in black coffee but then found out the cassia one is toxic if too much is used and should be used sparingly - Ceylon is ok to have more frequently but I didn’t like it as much. I didn’t do the Epsom's salts and actually a few people on the Facebook group seemed to end up constipated after doing it and initially clearing out so I’m not sure if it’s worthwhile in the long run. Good luck

Syan7 · 23/02/2025 18:36

@alexaismyfriend i felt pretty awful and made sure I was working from home. I also had to have a lie down and early night and was violently sick. Started on a Thursday so that I could break the 16 days on a Saturday. I didn’t do salts first time but did second time and made me sick straight away! I was regularly constipated throughout whole diet even with pear and black coffee for breakfast so took the magnesium citrate at least once or twice a week which I can’t say felt particularly normal! Best of luck if you decide to go for it :)

out of interest if anyone now trying a new/different diet that they get on better with please let me know?

I think I’m going to do home delivery service as my main sticking point is planning and prep.

alexaismyfriend · 23/02/2025 18:44

Thanks for your honest review!!

Syan7 · 23/02/2025 19:52

@alexaismyfriend sorry I haven’t exactly sold it to you! Everyone is different so you might be ok. I was/am highly addicted to sugar so the withdrawal wasn’t good. Every diet has its pros and cons and I’ve said before that it really does work just boils down to personal preference and what works for you and what doesn’t. You’ve got nothing to lose by giving it a go x

alexaismyfriend · 23/02/2025 19:54

No it's fine! I'm definitely going to do it- just trying to work out timing so I hopefully stick to it- what you said was very useful!

ColourByNumbers88 · 24/02/2025 21:50

Hi @alexaismyfriend phase 1 is not so bad because you can eat and drink as often as you want. It's only veg. So make some tasty soup, get decent veg etc.

I found phase 2 difficult but if you follow the rules, keep reading the book and plan your meals like a timetable then it's very simple. It's a bit of a shock to not snack but once you've got the hang of it, the 16 days makes complete sense. Just keep detoxing. I had terrible headaches and just went to bed early every night. You do need to hibernate and keep a food diary. It's a good time of year to do it before summer begins. The results are very impressive and you will feel great.
