I haven’t been on a diet in years because I haven’t felt motivated and I knew I wouldn’t stick it out.

I am now feeling 100% motivated and absolutely can’t wait to start!

I haven’t weighed myself in a couple of months but I’m around 16 and a half stone (231 pounds), I’ll weigh myself tomorrow morning and that will be my starting weight. When I first met my husband 13 years ago I was 11 stone however I’m not fussed about being that small again, I’d be delighted to be 13 stone.

Would love to hear if anyone else is starting tomorrow and we could share weight losses/recipes/meal plans/motivation!

Me! I had planned to start before new year but have been ill for the last 10 days with what I suspect is Covid and I'm still not properly better. I joined the gym at the end of November but now haven't been for a month due to a combination of a holiday / Christmas / illness. I'm hoping that I'll be well enough to go though on Friday. I'm early 40's and starting to become peri menopausal. I'm around 14.5 stone and also used to be 11 stone in what feels like a life time ago.
My general plan is to start by eating better aka cutting out the crap. So no more croissants, biscuits or bread as a starter for 10. I've also decided to focus on building "One good habit a month". January's habit is to get into a good routine of going to the gym at least twice a week with a focus on strength training. I get a reasonable amount of walking in fro my commute already. Overall I'd like to lose 2 stone by the end of the year through good habits rather than dieting per se.

JaneLockland · 07/01/2024 23:56

Me! I lost a couple of stone during lockdown with more time on my hands - then I got a new (sedentary) job and put it back on Blush

My absolute failure is meal planning and being organised; when I did lose a lot of weight many years ago, I pretty much ate the same three meals every day as it was the only way I could do it...

AmyTurtleRocks · 08/01/2024 06:13

Me!

Just weighed myself and I am 12st 6.

I need a complete diet overhaul. There is no junk food in the house and I'm feeling ready to tackle this. Absolutely fed up with feeling so unfit. Gained a ton of weight during peri.

TerfTalking · 08/01/2024 06:25

I’m 7 days in, and four pounds down.

summer bodies are made in the winter, good luck all x

aleC4 · 08/01/2024 06:29

I'm starting today too.
Realistically I need to lose over 5 stone but I'm setting myself smaller goals of half a stone at a time.
I have to start doing some sort of exercise. I am horribly unfit, get out of breath walking up the stairs and have such a slow walking pace it's embarassing.
I've tried so many times but I really really want to do it this time.

OldBeyondMyYears · 08/01/2024 06:34

Me! I've just had a bowl of porridge and packed a box of salad, boiled egg and avocado for my lunch.

I'd normally have eaten 2 rounds of thick toast covered in butter (and maybe cheese!) My lunch would have been two rounds of sandwiches ( either ham/cheese/tuna) and a bag of crisps.

230 pounds now - like you I'd be happy right now at seeing under 200 in the scales!

Good luck 👌🏻

NeverGuessWho · 08/01/2024 06:38

I'm starting today, too. First day back at work, so it will be easier, having no access to a kitchen!

Hope everyone has a good day - good luck.
I'll weigh myself and post later.

ElliesMum16 · 08/01/2024 06:39

I started on the day after boxing day so it's been nearly 2 weeks. It's going well so far - I'm calorie counting and doing C25K (to get fitter, not specifically for weight loss).

I've lost 2.5kg so far and have a minimum of another 10kg to lose - but I'm hoping I might even be able to lose a bit more than that.

OggyBunsen · 08/01/2024 06:39

Yes! Jan 1st wasn't the right time for me.

249lb today, like @Ohyobe I'm going to be focusing on habits. I've got a new job, also starting today, and I know I'm going to be stressed and focused on that for a while. So my first new habit is walking to work every day, which I was unable to do before.

@OggyBunsen good luck in your new job. I hope that it goes well for you.

piscofrisco · 08/01/2024 06:47

Me. I was doing well until beginning of December when I Also caught Covid and then Christmas. I've about three stone to lose. Back to three times a week swimming this week and intermittent fasting (plus eating in defecit). I've done it before so I know I can-although since I turned 41 it seems to take three times as long to shift weight as it did before which I find demoralising.

Rozbos · 08/01/2024 06:57

Also starting today.
Current weight 148 (10st 8)
Goal weight 133
Aspirational goal weight 126.

The aspirational weight will never happen but good to have in the background!

I'll be counting macros on mfp so just need to get strict!

MardyBigBum · 08/01/2024 10:54

I’m starting today after valiantly working my way through the last of the Christmas food. I’ve often read these threads but never dared join one because I don’t want to disappoint myself. Somehow I feel ready today, I think hurtling towards 50 is helping me to focus.
I was also 11 stone when I met my DH, at 5’ 8” this was a good weight for me. Weighed in today at 15 4. I’d be happy to get 2 stone off, ecstatic with 3.
I’ve joined the Centr app and I’m going to follow their exercise plans and see how their meal plans work for me. Good luck everybody.

piscofrisco · 08/01/2024 11:18

I've jsut weighted myself and I weigh 12 stone. (Im 5.5) My ideal weight, the weight I was 3 years ago- is somewhere just under 10 stone. I've never been this heavy apart from post partum in my life. If that's not a wake up call I don't know what is Shock

OkyDoke · 08/01/2024 12:16

I started a week ago, but always looking for more support!

SW: 217.4
CW: 214.8
GW: > who knows!

Would like to get down to 168 minimum but will see how it goes. Intermittent fasting 5 or 6 days a week, and gym x3 plus one home workout at least!

Ohyobe · 08/01/2024 12:24

How has everyone's day one gone so far? I had a late breakfast at 10.45 of a layered yoghurt (Skye, oats, raspberries, full fat greek yoghurt) and have just had a chicken salad for lunch.
I won't eat tea until about 7.30pm, which seems a long way off. I think I need to eat lunch later but by noon I'm desperate for a break from work!

2024weightbegone · 08/01/2024 13:22

Well done to everyone who have already started and have lost lbs!

Weighed myself this morning, 228.1. A little less than I thought it would be but still not great.

I’m working today which is great as it means I can’t snack. I’ve had porridge for breakfast, soup for lunch and tonight I have a micro meal as I’m working late and my MIL will have already fed my kids.

My downfall is snacking at night and I end up filling myself with diet fizzy juice which I know isn’t great but it fills me, and if I don’t have it I’ll end up snacking!

I lost over 10lbs last year then put it all back on and I'm so depressed as I know I have put on probably more than that. I lost all motivation and startled eating more crap. Stopped going gym. But as from tomorrow I'm going to start eating a bit better and drink more water. I'm in my 30's now and I have a gym membership. Need to pluck up the courage to go back as I haven't been in 6 months. I want to get back to 9st which is what I was 6 years ago. So I have a stone and a half to lose . Any more is a bonus.

2024weightbegone · 09/01/2024 06:54

ITS DAY TWO!

How did everyone get on yesterday? I had a good first day so I’m happy.

What is everyone having for their meals today? I’m having porridge for breakfast, either an omelette or soup for lunch and making a healthy bolognaise for dinner.

Morning, I survived day one. I found it difficult as it is so cold plus we had snow. Cold makes me hungry.

This week I am concentrating on ditching the chocolate and Coke Zero which I am completely addicted to. I've got a banging headache today from Coke withdrawal.

Yesterday I had egg salad for lunch and had cheese salad roll for tea. Was home alone so couldn't be bothered cooking. No snacking though.

Today I'm doing roast chicken for tea but I will moderate the Yorkshire puddings.

Since becoming fat I have really let myself go so yesterday I painted my nails and plucked my eyebrows. Also shaved my legs and moisturised. It's amazing how little things make me feel so much better about myself.

Have a good day all.

OldBeyondMyYears · 10/01/2024 06:47

Morning losers 🙌🏼 (in a good way, obviously 👍)

Yesterday was a good day!
B: Greek yoghurt and fruit
L: salmon, big salad, olives
D: half a jacket potato, tinned tuna and big salad

Snack: melon, Greek yoghurt, honey

Today:

B: porridge
L: tuna salad with a boiled egg (all boxed up in my work bag ready!)
D: same as yesterday...in the fridge so I don't have to think about it!

Trying to be more organised and think ahead as far as possible. I work long hours and if I don't organise myself I end up being too exhausted to do anything other than snack on high calorie crap! And eat crisps!

Hope you all have a good day x

B: porridge

OldBeyondMyYears · 10/01/2024 06:49

(Sorry about the random porridge at the end...I promise I didn't go back for seconds 🤣🤣)

Bigminnie1 · 10/01/2024 07:15

I started last week after six months of overeating. Hadn't weighed in years but I reckon I put on about ten pounds since the summer.
Last week, I was 76 kg (weighing in kg seems to be less stressful!) and aiming for 66 kg.
Weigh in is tomorrow...

Bigminnie1 · 10/01/2024 07:17

I am doing intermittent fasting as it makes me feel much better and stops me overeating.

piscofrisco · 10/01/2024 07:34

Morning all. I've had a good-ish few days. I've stuck to my intermittent fasting window and not eaten carbs or very much sugar. Probably not in as much defecit as I would like, but it's a start. Also haven't exercised much. Combination of work and it being bloody freezing so not wanting to leave the house once I'm in ( and laziness let's face it Grin).
Hope everyone is doing ok
