Anyone else starting their weight loss journey tomorrow?

I haven’t been on a diet in years because I haven’t felt motivated and I knew I wouldn’t stick it out.

I am now feeling 100% motivated and absolutely can’t wait to start!

I haven’t weighed myself in a couple of months but I’m around 16 and a half stone (231 pounds), I’ll weigh myself tomorrow morning and that will be my starting weight. When I first met my husband 13 years ago I was 11 stone however I’m not fussed about being that small again, I’d be delighted to be 13 stone.

Would love to hear if anyone else is starting tomorrow and we could share weight losses/recipes/meal plans/motivation!

@gem10683 well done for starting back at the gym tomorrow. It's really hard to get motivated when it's so cold outside at the moment.

2024weightbegone · 15/01/2024 13:11

Well done @AmyTurtleRocks that is so so good!!

I found the weekend really difficult however I’ve lost a total of 4.7 pounds since last Monday so I’m happy with that.

Is anyone having anything exciting for their dinner tonight? I haven’t planned anything, silly of me I know, but I’ll try to make something as healthy as possible.

@2024weightbegone that's brilliant, well done.

Rozbos · 15/01/2024 14:50

Well done everyone - amazing results. I'm 3lbs down which is great as I definitely haven't been as strict as I should have been!

AmyTurtleRocks · 15/01/2024 15:34

@Rozbos well done, good work. Happy for you.

AmyTurtleRocks · 18/01/2024 08:30

It's gone very quiet. Anyone still here?

2024weightbegone · 19/01/2024 20:51

I’m still here!

Getting on well but my scales have broke which means I haven’t been able to weigh myself! I’ll be buying a new one on Sunday and will weigh myself on Monday morning.

how are you getting on @AmyTurtleRocks

I'll start again tomorrow!!

Current weight 9 stone 8 lbs
Target weight 9 stone 5 lbs

Hi, joining in. I started on 1st Jan (I couldn’t take anymore eating!) and so far I’ve lost 5.6lbs. Which I’m very pleased with as I’m short and not overweight as such, though I did go into overweight category briefly but I carry a lot of weight on my stomach and my clothes aren’t fitting. Plan to lose 1stone. I’m doing really well, calorie counting and doing a lot of walking. Haven’t broken the diet once as I’m scared to!!

First time going out for dinner with a friend last night, we went somewhere that does Indian food / Chinese, bit of a mix. Friend is a veggie so I said happy to share 3 veggie dishes and we had the most delicious curry. It meant I didn’t need to go mad with sharing dishes and I was very reserved. Had a couple of dumpling, some fried potatoes and some of the curry. Still lost weight (weigh daily) so super happy. More temptation today as I’m in a walking group and we will go to the pub for lunch afterwards. I have resisted twice already since 1st Jan so I will again and will eat when I’m home!!

AmyTurtleRocks · 20/01/2024 12:50

I'm still here, not been too bad so far this week. My weigh day is Monday.

Don't think I would have lost anything this week as I've been eating more due to the freezing cold.

Have managed to stay off the chocolate, cake and Coke Zero though which was the plan. Also taken vitamins everyday and stuck to an evening skin care routine. Baby steps.

Enjoy the weekend all.

AmyTurtleRocks · 20/01/2024 12:51

@2024weightbegone I hope that you manage to get new scales sorted tomorrow. Good luck for Monday weigh in.

2024weightbegone · 21/01/2024 07:57

Did you manage to avoid the pub @Zanatdy ?!

Well done @AmyTurtleRocks , I wish I could give up Coke Zero, I have an unhealthy addiction to it. Have you felt better in yourself since stopping? Let us know how you get on with weigh day tomorrow!

I got on ok yesterday apart from dinner time. I had my children’s friends round and ended up cooking far too much which resulted in lots of leftovers being eaten by… me!

Going to be extra good today and looking forward to seeing what the scales say tomorrow after not being able to weigh myself since Wednesday.

@2024weightbegone my Coke Zero addiction was costing a fortune. When I stopped I had a massive headache for four days, it was harder to stop than chocolate. I feel a lot less bloated to be honest. I'm not bothered by any other fizzy drinks so I replaced it with boring water and squash. My recycling has greatly reduced without all the Coke cans 😁

I went to the pub but just had a cup of tea. I was surrounded by people eating such nice food. I was going to have soup but wasn’t keen on the flavour. I had 2 of my friends chips instead!! Leftovers are so hard to resist

2024weightbegone · 23/01/2024 13:14

Hope everyone is getting on ok!

Any weight updates?

I weighed in yesterday morning and have lost 2.9 pounds last week so adding that to the 4.7 pounds from the previous week thats 7.6 pounds in total I’ve lost so I’m extremely happy!

This is amazing, well done! 👏

I've just maintained so far. But that's better than gaining!

Starting weight 9 stone 8
Current weight 9 stone 8
Target weight 9 stone 5

Caledoniablue · 23/01/2024 17:52

Hi ladies!

Am I too late to join? We just got back from holidays on the 20th, weighed myself today and have shocked myself. I'm 12st 5lbs, the heaviest I've been.
I definitely need to lose at least 2st, preferably 2.5!

Been reading through the thread and feeling inspired to get started!

2024weightbegone · 23/01/2024 21:29

Thanks @TrustPenguins !

And well done you, like you say, maintaining is better than gaining.

Of course @Caledoniablue , good luck!!

I lost 2lb in my first week, really pleased as I had a night away with work during this with lots of food and wine!

Into the 16s now at least, but a long way to go

2024weightbegone · 26/01/2024 07:15

Well done @Loub55

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Has anyone got any nice soup recipes? I know a lot of people just throw any veg into a pan but I can never make it taste nice so like to follow a recipe!

Blimey, I can't believe it's been two weeks since I looked on here! What's happened to January?? Hope everyone has had some successful losses. It will start getting easier I think as the weather gets warmer and days get lighter...winter is such a difficult time to lose weight!

I've had 'ups and downs' but now stopped weighing every day as it was getting me down...I now only step on the 'doomsday scale' once a week 🤣 Happy to report that the horrible BMI of 38 is now down to a still horrible but lesser 36, and I've lost a further 8lbs, so a total of 13lb since 1st Jan. Was hoping for that magic 14lb today but ah well 🤷‍♀️ Maybe next week 🤞

Hi, just wanted to follow this thread with keen interest as it sounds like we are pretty similar in weight and goals. I guessed I was 16’7, turns out I was 16’12 so week one has been getting to my assumed starting line which is annoying! I’ve lost 5lbs on week one without much effort and taking second dose tonight.

I made this Vietnamese Pho soup last week...it was a roaring success! I bloody love soup and could eat it every day! 🤣 In fact I did eat this one for three days straight after I made it 😆 It's a British Heart Foundation recipe...they have some great recipes on their website!

Here's the link: (Hope it works 🤞)

@OldBeyondMyYears 13 pounds in under a month is amazing, well done you! I know you only weigh weekly but I’d be tempted to weigh on the 31st to see if I’ve lost the full stone 😃. also that soup looks amazing, I’m definitely adding it to my list.

@ElDee33 well done on your 5 pounds, hope this week goes just as well for you.

I weighed myself this morning and I’ve lost another 1.5lbs so that’s 9lbs in total. I’m finding the weekends more and more difficult but trying my best.
