I haven’t been on a diet in years because I haven’t felt motivated and I knew I wouldn’t stick it out.

I am now feeling 100% motivated and absolutely can’t wait to start!

I haven’t weighed myself in a couple of months but I’m around 16 and a half stone (231 pounds), I’ll weigh myself tomorrow morning and that will be my starting weight. When I first met my husband 13 years ago I was 11 stone however I’m not fussed about being that small again, I’d be delighted to be 13 stone.

Would love to hear if anyone else is starting tomorrow and we could share weight losses/recipes/meal plans/motivation!

piscofrisco · 12/01/2024 06:09

I did not Grin but today is another day....

OldBeyondMyYears · 12/01/2024 06:59

Going food shopping after work tonight...what shouldn't I add to my trolley to stop me from self-sabotaging my fabulous week? Weekends are THE worst times for me!! 😨

OldBeyondMyYears · 12/01/2024 06:59
  • SHOULD I add! (See...already sabotaging 🤣🤣)
FatGirlSlimming · 12/01/2024 07:36

@OldBeyondMyYears Well done on your fabulous week. Make sure you’re not hungry when you shop. Find a nice recipe for the weekend that you’ll enjoy making, and stick to your list for that. Then things like low fat, high protein yogs, eggs, Longley Farm cottage cheese if you can get it (Morrisons) are all good fillers-up!

piscofrisco · 12/01/2024 07:50

Some sort of non alcoholic beverage that's fancy so still feels like a nice drink? I must not drink wine. It's liquid cake, calorifically speaking.
I'm giving myself one meal off over the weekend which will be tomorrow night as we are going out for DSS's birthday. I think it's good to have some balance-otherwise the wheels fall off quicker for me.

piscofrisco · 12/01/2024 07:51

Cottage cheese is the nuts protein wise isn't it? I didn't know that til I read it somewhere yesterday...

2024weightbegone · 12/01/2024 13:00

DAY 5!

How is everyone getting on so far today? I weighed myself this morning and have lost 3.7 pounds so far this week. I understand the majority of that will be water but I’m still super happy!

Just had some pasta for lunch and having to get a takeaway for dinner tonight as my kids are at a club and we will be out 4.30-8pm. Will hopefully pick up a relatively healthy toastie/panini somewhere.

Weekends are my downfall when it comes to sticking to plan so I’m planning on keeping myself as busy as possible to avoid the snacks!

Well done @2024weightbegone that's really encouraging for you.

BounceBackFitness · 12/01/2024 14:07

I love your way of looking at this, cutting out the things that are less nutritious like biscuits and bread etc, and one good habit per month great idea!!!

By just having small goals its more realistic that you will stick to it... my advice would be (if you don't mind me saying) to not completely cut out on the biscuits and bread etc but having them a lot less often, depriving yourself completely may lead to bingeing on them at some point in the future, all about the balance :) Good luck I hope it all goes well :)

piscofrisco · 12/01/2024 15:20

Great stuff op!

ElliesMum16 · 12/01/2024 15:55

So an interesting thing has happened that I'd like some advice on. Since I've started counting calories I'm actually struggling to eat enough! I did WW for a long time before this and never had any problem eating my points, but at the moment I barely scrape over 900 calories some days.

I'm rarely hungry and feel like I'm eating a decent amount of food, my meals are balanced (I don't cut out any food groups, don't do IF), and don't really have cravings or feel in danger of binging. The weight is coming off consistently. But maybe I should make an effort to eat more?

I don't want to increase the amount of meat or dairy I'm eating, and equally I don't want to upset the balance that I've established - e.g. I don't currently eat after dinner and don't want to start doing that. And I don't want to eat food with little nutritional value just to bump my calories up. So far all I can think of adding in are some nuts - I already eat avocado, olive oil etc.

So should I be eating more just for the sake of bumping up my calories, or just leave it since it's not causing any problems right now?

Rozbos · 12/01/2024 18:25

How accurately are you calorie counting? If you are not weighing everything then the likelihood is that you are eating more calories than you think. It was certainly an eye opener for me!

If you are not hungry and you feel that you are eating enough, and losing weight, then why change it.

Very accurately. I weigh absolutely everything, check all nutritional info on packets etc. I don't count cals for veg though (but count starchy veg), and loosely count fruit but only usually eat 1 serving a day of fruit, usually berries.

OldBeyondMyYears · 13/01/2024 04:38

@ElliesMum16 you're possibly over 1000 though if you add your fruit and veg calories. They all count. An apple is 52 for example and a banana 100. So do add these into your count.

AmyTurtleRocks · 13/01/2024 08:34

Morning, hope you all are doing ok. I've not much planned for the weekend but hoping to stay on track with my food consumption.

My weigh day is Monday and I would love to have lost some weight, even 1lbs would be great after the effort I have been putting in.

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend?

piscofrisco · 13/01/2024 08:40

Morning all. I've woken up really wanting a slice of cake. Specifically white cake with white icing. This is weird as I never really eat cake-and it's usually the last thing I would fancy. Odd.
Will stick to IF times today but will probably go over calories as we are out for dinner for DS's birthday. Not worried too much as I have eaten well all week and I think it's ok to have one meal off. About to get up and walk the dogs for a few hours to provide a bit of balance at least. Have a lovely Saturday all.

Rozbos · 13/01/2024 09:32

I've woken up with a grotty cold which I need to not use as an excuse to comfort eat! Generally feel like it's been a decent week though. I'm weighing every day and there is a downwards trend which is great.

Weekends are always trickier with eating healthily as everything is a bit all over the place so need to stay with sensible choices!

AmyTurtleRocks · 13/01/2024 09:42

Sorry that you have woken up with a cold @Rozbos. Hope that you feel better soon.

OldBeyondMyYears · 13/01/2024 16:01

@Rozbos sorry you're not feeling great! It's hard to stay focussed when you are unwell. Also, I agree with you that weekends are trickier, as you don't have the same structure to your days do you? It's so easy to become distracted and before you know it, there's a biscuit dunking itself in your coffee and you have NO IDEA how it got there! 🤷‍♀️

Ohyobe · 14/01/2024 21:38

How has everyone's weekend been? I've managed to resist (reluctantly!) our normal weekend treat of croissants for breakfast and have eaten reasonably ok. Yesterday DH and I ended up going out for a quick bit of dinner whilst our DC were at a birthday party. I had the most divine desert of double chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream which was superb. I hate to think how many calories were in it but it's literally the only nice thing I've eaten for a week! I'm trying to convince myself it's all about balance...
Does any have any ideas of things I can do for my one good habit a month? January was supposed to be establishing a routine of going to the gym but I have post COVID fatigue so have had to sack that off. Ideally I'd like to add in 2-3 smallish things a month so January has ended up being establishing an evening skincare routine, reducing sugar and starting to take vitamins. Thanks

gem10683 · 14/01/2024 23:52

Well I weighed myself and shock horror- I'm 11st! Want to lose 2 stone so want to try and restart gym tomorrow. Feeling really grossed out by myself. Any tips for eating healthy when working night shifts?

AmyTurtleRocks · 15/01/2024 08:00

My first weigh day and I have lost 6.75 lbs. I'm really really pleased.

I haven't eaten any chocolate, cake and biscuits and ditched the Coke Zero completely.

I have taken vitamins every day, I take them with a Yakult . I set a reminder on my phone to make sure I do it every day. Have also got into an evening skincare routine.

All in all I do feel a bit better, definitely feel less bloated.

TrustPenguins · 15/01/2024 09:07

Finally back on the healthy eating today (we have many birthdays in December/ January alongside Christmas / New Year!). Today feels like the first proper day I can get back on track!

Current weight 9 stone 8 lbs
Target weight 9 stone 5 lbs

I find I don't have much time for exercise, and snacking, esp in the evenings, is my downfall.
