I haven’t been on a diet in years because I haven’t felt motivated and I knew I wouldn’t stick it out.

I am now feeling 100% motivated and absolutely can’t wait to start!

I haven’t weighed myself in a couple of months but I’m around 16 and a half stone (231 pounds), I’ll weigh myself tomorrow morning and that will be my starting weight. When I first met my husband 13 years ago I was 11 stone however I’m not fussed about being that small again, I’d be delighted to be 13 stone.

Would love to hear if anyone else is starting tomorrow and we could share weight losses/recipes/meal plans/motivation!

Today was ...
B: porridge, yoghurt, and coffee
MT: mini pavlova/meringue and more coffee
L: low-carb wrap with cottage cheese, lettuce and chicken, blackberries
D: butter bean mash, roasted cherry tomatoes and low-fat sausage with a bread roll (so yum!)

How often does everyone weigh themselves? I've always been a daily weigher as it helps to keep me on track, and I don't tend to fluctuate.

piscofrisco · 10/01/2024 07:37

Today will be
Two boiled eggs for breakfast
Homemade beef and mushroom soup for lunch
Gammon and salad for tea ( egg and chips with it for everyone else)
Protein yoghurt/satsuma for snacks.

2024weightbegone · 10/01/2024 08:18

We can do this!

I weigh daily which I’ve been told by numerous people is a bad idea but it keeps me on track. If I see a loss from the day before I want to keep it up, and if I see a gain from the day before then it makes me want to try harder so it works for me.

For those of you who fast, what times do you fast from? My husband goes through phases of fasting and usually does 7pm until 11am but I’m not sure how how I’d cope without breakfast!

I never really eat until 12 pm anyway and I have extended it until 1pm. I usually have dinner around 7.30 pm ish and stop eating by 8.

Ohyobe · 10/01/2024 08:24

I am trying to go IF but I'm finding it difficult due to working long hours and having a long commute. Ideally I would eat noon - 8pm but am tending at the moment to eat 10.45-8 which still gives me 17ish hours of fasting.

I haven't weighed myself since the end of November - we don't have any scales that work. I don't think daily weighing would work for me as I'm worried I'd get too fixated on it. Need to check whether our local Boots still has scales in it.

Rozbos · 10/01/2024 08:41

I don't specifically fast for a set time but almost always skip breakfast so tend to go till lunchtime before eating. I just find it makes the calories go further 🤣.

I tend to exercise in the morning too, either CrossFit or running so that kills a bit of time and make waiting till lunchtime easier.

I went too long yesterday though and ended up starving with the inevitable result of eating a bit more than planned but still better than over Christmas.

I weight daily and find it easier to keep track of, I think it also helps with the inevitable fluctuations to see the general trend.

AmyTurtleRocks · 10/01/2024 09:06

Day three for me and so far so good. Looks like good progress is being made by all so let's keep it up.

I have just dug my slow cooker out. It's a good way to add lots of veg to food. It's so cold at the moment and I need hot food, can't be done with salad right now.

Have a good day.

FatGirlSlimming · 10/01/2024 09:11

Please can I join? I’m 5ft 3 and 76kg. I’d be v happy with around 66kg by April 12th.

AmyTurtleRocks · 10/01/2024 10:05

Hello @FatGirlSlimming

piscofrisco · 10/01/2024 10:34

I usually eat between 11 and 7 (through I try to go til noon before starting-it doesn't always fit with work/my lack of willpower/acid reflux which can sometimes act up if I don't eat something small in the morning.

I don't weigh myself that often as one I find it depressing and two I go more on how my clothes fit and how I feel which I know is not an exact science but helps me motivate myself. I've got a pair of jeans upstairs that I can't fit in to and want to be able to. They are my thinspiration!

2024weightbegone · 10/01/2024 19:13

How has everyone got on today?

I’ve been good. Was feeling very snacky earlier but managed to resist.

Share any exciting dinner ideas please. I had my left over bolognaise, it always tastes better on the second day!

Hey all, I'm wanting to lose weight and planning on dieting from Monday (finishing off the leftover Xmas rubbish still, blow out this weekend!)
Like you OP I was around 16.5 stone when I last weighed but think I'm probably more now.
I can't actually find the scales, need to check if DH has put in the loft 😂

OldBeyondMyYears · 10/01/2024 20:15

My Super Duper New Scales arrived today. They tell me SO much (terrifying) information!!

For example: not only did they confirm what I already knew (eg I'm fat!) but that my 'body age' is 71 (I'm 59 😨) and my BMI is 38 😢

On the plus side...I've lost 5lb (double checked this on my old scales too, just to be sure 👌🏻)

I have to break this awful cycle of destruction that I'm in 😢

Patsnpons · 10/01/2024 21:09

Can I also join, been in denial for a long time, just been on holiday and not recognising myself on photos its time for a change

Ohyobe · 10/01/2024 22:58

I've done reasonably well so far this week. I was however still hungry after my tea and so ended up having one of my breakfast yoghurt pots 😬 which is around 300 calories. Not ideal but I have vastly cut down my snacking over the past couple of weeks and it's a better post dinner treat than my normal biscuits.
I'm hoping to get to the gym tomorrow for the first time in over a month. I only joined in mid November so am v much a full on beginner.

piscofrisco · 11/01/2024 07:32

Morning.
Someone please force me to go swimming today. I know I will enjoy it (ish) when I get there and I'll feel better afterwards. But it so cold. And the faff. And and and....I've got all the excuses in the book...WHY am I like this?!
On the upside I've stuck well to IF and low carbs/low sugar/high protein these last three days and when I've done it in the past I've found it gets easier to do after day three or four so holding on for that at least.

I will have breakfast at 12-two boiled eggs and some ham and salad.
Dinner will be Cajun dirty rice out of the pinch of nom boom so low calorie at least.
Snacks protein yoghurt/seafood sticks/satsuma

Have a great day all

piscofrisco · 11/01/2024 07:33

Well done on the 5lbs @OldBeyondMyYears!

AmyTurtleRocks · 11/01/2024 08:33

@piscofrisco it is so hard to get motivated in this cold weather. I hope you manage to go swimming.

AmyTurtleRocks · 11/01/2024 08:34

@OldBeyondMyYears well done with your weight loss. You must be happy. Your scales sound frightening 😁

FatGirlSlimming · 11/01/2024 09:26

Do go swimming @piscofrisco Like you say, you’ll feel better for it. Can you go somewhere with a sauna for a nice warm-up afterwards? I’m going to go after work tonight - it’s always an effort when it’s cold and dark, and it’s a bit of a distance to drive, but I try not to dwell on that!

OldBeyondMyYears · 11/01/2024 19:28

How's everyone's day been?

I've just made a fabulous 'frittata' thing (think that's what's it's called 🤣) Like an omelette, but with sliced potatoes in it...I added red onion, chopped green beans and broccoli, crispy bacon, peas and red peppers (really just 'stuff' I had in the fridge!) It was so tasty! And with three eggs, there's enough to put half in my lunch box for work tomorrow 🙌🏼

What I really need to do is drink more water - I don't drink any! But it's so bloody cold!! How do people manage water when it's minus 187 degrees!!! 🥶🥶🥶

AmyTurtleRocks · 11/01/2024 20:01

@OldBeyondMyYears that sounds really good, do you use cooked potatoes? I'm going to give that a go. Good way to use up odd bits in the fridge.

Yes, I just chopped them up into small chunks and boiled until soft-ish, then fried in olive oil until nice and golden, lots of salt and pepper of course, then added the onion, bacon (which is cooked in the air fryer) and all the veg, then the egg (on a low heat) and let it set. I finished it off under the grill.

To be honest it was a bit of a trial and error experiment that luckily worked out (like much of my cooking 🤣). I don't use recipes...I just use 'what's in the fridge' and hope for the best 🤷‍♀️ It usually turns out ok 👌🏻

FatGirlSlimming · 11/01/2024 20:15

Sounds great @OldBeyondMyYears I must try that.
@piscofrisco hope you got your swim! I dragged myself there this evening and had a quick steam too.
I’m (roughly) counting calories after not doing so for decades a while and it really is a revelation! Trying protein and fibre rich foods and not too many carbs.
💪 to everyone - we can do this!

AmyTurtleRocks · 11/01/2024 20:27

@OldBeyondMyYears I'm definitely going to try that. I have all the ingredients to hand and it sounds nice and easy. Thanks
