If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

Morning. Tried to do my starting weight this morning but turns out my scales have died so will pop out in my lunch break and buy some.
Started the day well with a good breakfast, drinking plenty of water and a quick dance workout to get me in a positive mood for the day. Well done everyone so far 👌

Nocakeinthishouse · 08/01/2024 10:57

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk
thank you. I’m so sorry!! Xx

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 08/01/2024 11:07

@Nocakeinthishouse absolutely no problem, stick around if you're happy here. If nothing else the general vibe of pah you're virtually there might be encouraging.

The last bit is always the hardest to shift!

First day back on tracking for me, I lost 2st 9lbs between August and Christmas and I am not weighing until next week. Starting weight 17st 12, on Christmas Eve I was 15st 3 and target is 10st 7 ish.

Today's meals:
Breakfast: Porridge made with jumbo oats and semi skimmed milk with 5 prunes in juice

Lunch: 2 slices of wholemeal toast with mashed avocado, poached eggs and chilli flakes

Dinner: gnocchi with chorizo, tomatoes, spinach and mozzarella with salad (one of my favourite ww recipes)

Evening snack: skinny whip bar or rich tea biscuits with cup of tea

Have had one coffee, will have one glass Pepsi Max with dinner and, apart from the cup of tea tonight, I will be drinking water for the rest of the day.

I actually feel like crap having spent two weeks eating all the carbs so I'm giving it a couple of weeks of eating well before I start any serious exercise. Good luck to everyone for a good week

Morred · 08/01/2024 11:28

Monday weigh-in. No loss this time but I only started properly on Thursday last week and I find it much harder to count calories over the weekend. I've got a healthy lunch and low-calories snacks with me at work today and had two quite active days over the weekend so fingers crossed!

SW (3.1.24) - 95.4kg
CW (8.1.24) - 95.4kg
TW - 75g

I will try not to get frustrated if losses are slow. I always get annoyed that supposedly because I'm obese I should initially lose weight really quickly and then it doesn't happen!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 08/01/2024 12:14

Hi @HippyChickMama sorry to hear you're feeling a bit off. I think you're sensible to give yourself some time to get back into the swing of things before hitting the gym again. Feel better soon.

OP posts:
stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 08/01/2024 12:22

Hey there @Morred I found I had to calorie count because my bad habits were so ingrained, but with people whose weight has been stable go can do well with substitutions swaps etc. good luck.

I'm doing a waist measurement.

I've lost half an inch since I started on Thursday.

Aiming to loose ten inches on one meal a day IF (but unlimited tea...)

All going to plan so far, might start weaning myself off the milk in my tea when fasting as others have said that really helps.

RedBoxWithABow · 08/01/2024 13:01

Only 1kg last week. Expected more but also had a bad weekend, where I kept to OMAD time-wise but did not eat healthy. Hoping for a better week this time. Now that I'm back to being used to OMAD, I need to get my actual nutrients in order.

SW (in 2023): 117kg
SW(01/01/2024): 92KG
CW: 91kg
GW: 65kg

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 08/01/2024 14:04

well done on your loss @RedBoxWithABow every kilo counts!

Well done everyone on your efforts and losses this week!

I have my first appointment with an NHS weight loss programme tomorrow, an hour with a nutritional advisor. I’m really nervous about it, can’t get out of the “how can they tell me anything I don’t already know” mindset, and worried they’ll tell me to make changes that will throw me off track when I’ve only just got myself on track and motivated. I want to feel excited and like I’m looking forwards to 6 months of having support with weight loss but I just don’t :(

PurpleFlower1983 · 08/01/2024 21:05

I’d like to join please! Just started my second month on Wegovy, aim is to lose 4-5st.

SW: 223
CW: 215
GW: 147

UtahGirl12 · 08/01/2024 21:13

Weigh in day for me.

5 pounds off;

SW 212.5
CW 207.5
TW 139
Total lost 5/73.5
Total left 68.5

Pretty pleased with weight lost his week. Stuck to my 1600 cals all week, hit protein & fibres macros and IF at least 16/8 for 6/7 days.

Exercise
2 strength workouts
4 walks
1 spin bike
1 salsacise class

Just got to keep the momentum going now, and not get daunted looking at the total number of pounds left!😤

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 08/01/2024 22:10

I hope your appointment goes well @PotatoFan the only advise I've got is be confident and assertive. Tell them what you know so they don't just spend forever going over stuff you know.

Hello & welcome @PurpleFlower1983

well done of your loss @UtahGirl12 great work hitting your calorie targets so consistently.

So first weigh in;

CW 228
TW 198

I would of course like to lose more but I'm setting myself an achievable target to keep me focused.
Trying to find some good recipes so I can carry on cooking and baking.
I'm not following a diet but moving to more nutrient dense food and focusing on health and feeling energetic.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 09/01/2024 09:32

30 pounds is a totally sensible target in 26 weeks and just over 10% of your body mass. There's a lot of evidence that losing that much will do your health good.

OP posts:
EnglishGirlApproximately · 09/01/2024 10:10

Definitely, I know from experience that if I lose too quickly I'll never keep it off. I just enjoy food and cooking too much to maintain a diet, so need to focus on small changes and better balance to bring my weight down gradually.

Turefu · 09/01/2024 10:17

My first week’s results: 2.2kg less! I’m very pleased. I watch, what I eat and work out with YouTube half and hour five days per week. Keep up good work!

owlyboo · 09/01/2024 10:44

Weigh in

SW 100kg
CW 99kg

1kg loss for me this week. Was hoping for a little more but I'm super proud I've stuck to dry jan, my 10k steps a day and healthy eating. So I'll take the 2 pounds!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 09/01/2024 12:45

Well done @Turefu well done @owlyboo as you should be! seriously you've both done amazing. 1kg of burnt fat takes a 1000 calorie a day deficit and every kilogram down is a genuine accomplishment, of effort at times but mostly self- discipline.

More generally but maybe especially to lurkers and those not wanting to post their own losses up. You can't control what the scales say only what you eat. It is nice when the scales drop a lot in a single week but it does tend to all average out in the end. measuring your weight is just a convenient way to track the trend to figure out if the changes you've made are having the desired effect.

Realist2022 · 09/01/2024 13:59

So weigh in this morning and I have lost 1.1kg. So if I keep this up this may (almost) work. I am getting very good at making soup .....

Realist2022 · 09/01/2024 14:01

Ooooh, @Scrabblingaround, that's a great idea to do measurements - shall consider that.

Well done!

Realist2022 · 09/01/2024 14:02

@owlyboo - I fell off the wagon ... but only one day. I am now doing dry Sunday to Friday January .....

owlyboo · 09/01/2024 14:02

Thanks @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk! I know I need a lifestyle change so I've changed my diet rather than 'dieting' so I've enjoyed every meal and haven't felt constricted or sad!

Hopefully it'll slowly keep dropping off and I can keep enjoying it whilst I go!

The main joy with dry January has been the sleeping! I've never had more energy and slept better!
