2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

Yup, my mojo needs to return. I don't recognise myself.

What's your plan?

I'm doing joe wicks 90-day plan 4 to 5 times a week, plus his food plan

Walk kids to school daily

Want to start running again

Sleep at 9 (not worked tonight as I'm restless due to the thought of work tmrw) 🙃

JennyForeigner · 01/01/2024 22:23

I'll join please. Three small and picky children and I've been either living off all of the food they don't eat. I could do with losing the weight but as much as that, it's about reminding myself I also deserve to have healthy meals and the time to eat them.

Starting with veganuary and planning to eat more if anything - but better.

RedDoughnut · 01/01/2024 22:32

@PotatoFan

I did say "for people with a lot to lose" but I don't think some people have the same idea as me on what a "lot"
There is a difference between being overweight and properly fat ( me! )
Some people's starting weights are lower than my target.
Im glad you are here.

Not that I think the thinner people shouldn't be here but our experiences will be different.
On the the previous Christmas 2 stone thread the lighter weight people were non judgmental and supportive.

Hopefully we can all find what works for us and feel a difference by Easter.

Plan as above.

I'm.a slow loser, but even a stone to start with will make me feel so much better & clothes will fit better.

PotatoFan · 01/01/2024 22:37

@RedDoughnut Thanks, that sounds good, I’ll take any support I can get and with a starting weight just shy of 20 stone it should at least be more realistic for me to lose 2 stone than for those with lower starting weights.

logged everything I ate today, skipped breakfast (intentional intermittent fasting) and didn’t do late night snacking.

thatneverhappened · 01/01/2024 22:37

Can I join please?

minisoksmakehardwork · 01/01/2024 22:37

I'm joining! Going by my research, I need to lose a minimum of 6 stone to get to the top of the healthy weight bracket for my height. Although I'd like to lose a couple more than that if I can, just to be within the healthy range rather than at the top of it.

SW: 16st 11lb
GW: 10st 11lb
IW (ideal weight) 8st 3lb.
Height: 5ft 4.
Age: 42

I'm a terrible eater, always going for quick and easy and I eat a lot of UPF. I'm about to ask for intolerance testing as recent experience leads me to believe I'm dairy intolerant - my eczema got significantly worse over a period where my dairy intake was markedly higher for a week - but as soon as I stopped all dairy, back to normal eczema!

Previously done weight watchers but found it an effort and a chore! Although I did have limited success.

I've also changed jobs from one where I did a lot of walking to much more desk based, so I need to up my exercise. Unfortunately I cannot wear my smart watch to work so cannot track my steps etc.

I need to cut the junk and snacking. Dh/kids kindly bought me 4 of the giant (I think 850g) bars of dairy milk as well as a box of other sweets for Xmas. And I have 0 will power. I've eaten one bar pre New Year's Day and have decided to take the rest to work to offload them as quick as possible.

Th1sisnotadrill · 01/01/2024 22:38

I'll join... Have yo-yoed my way through life peaking at 18st 2lbs and also enjoyed the lows of 11st but am now up 3 stone and would like to change my eating habits for life. I've struggled with bulimia all my life and am ready to make the change for good.

SW 199lbs
EASTER GW 175lbs
UGW 150lbs

Will be flirting with low carb and calorie counting or intermittent fasting for January to figure out which I feel better on, and will incorporate strength training along the way. Good luck everyone ❤️

AlwaysAWoman · 01/01/2024 22:39

I will join in! I am starting My fitness pal again aiming for 1500 calories a day and to be more active to start with.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 01/01/2024 23:25

I also have far far far more than 2stone to lose (people keep writing their weight in lbs that's less than mine in kg 😩) but I had decided on 12kg by the end of March as a target so this thread seems to be for me if you'll have me. (I'm only going to record my loss/gain - despite it being anonymous I can't bring myself to write my actual weight)

Might be a bit delayed as we all currently have flu!! But My plan is to track & fast (& prioritise protein because I'm scared of half my hair falling out again 😭)

What (free 😃) apps do people find most helpful?
I like happy scale & fastic. Trying Oatsy but getting annoyed with it already...

Joining in too! Have more like 4stone to lose but 2 would be an amazing achievement for me

KinderToMyFutureSelf · 02/01/2024 07:30

Hello! I'm in too!

I'm 55 and would be delighted to lose 2 stone for Easter. I'm currently 16:7 and ideally would like to be 13 stone. Although my ideal weight seems to be 11 stone on paper, around 10 years ago I managed to get to 12:3 and friends and colleagues said I'd started to look too thin ...I'm hoping 10 years on that is still the case! Good luck everyone and I'm really looking forward to being part of this group!

PotatoFan · 02/01/2024 07:55

@Morwenscapacioussleeves I use the nutracheck app to track, though it’s not free it is uk based food database

I'm using a free app called Food View where you can update photos of your meals. I'm mostly using it to record meals for inspiration in the future as I forget successful recipes the minute I've made them. It's also proving helpful as the visual element nudges me to eat more fruit abd veg to make them nice and colourful.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 02/01/2024 08:17

Good morning all. So I finally got a new battery for my scales and weighed in this morning. Extremely relieved that I managed to maintain over Christmas which I think is completely due to continuing to do my 5km walk 5 days a week minimum. Too much wine, crisps and snacks have been consumed so I feel very positive today that it's a new year, new start. I'm going to try to do Dry January this year for the first time which if I can stick to it, should help greatly with the weight loss. I plan to eat a Mediterranean diet, whole foods, lower carb and to walk 5km minimum 5 days a week, but I also plan to do some strength training too. My birthday is in the first week of February so I am going to give it my best shot to reach the 2 stone loss that I didn't manage on the Christmas thread. For those struggling, please stay on the thread. You will be surprised how motivational it is.

SW 82.2kg
CW 74.4kg
TW 60kg

Sunsetsarethebest · 02/01/2024 08:28

@PotatoFan I feel exactly the same. According to NHS I should lose about 6 stone from my current weight (I have already lost about a stone through stress last year). I am quite short- 5.3 but I already know I dont want to lose 6 stone. At the moment I will be thrilled.with anything as it means I have stuck to a diet.or exercise routine for more than a week! Years and years ago I lost weight (about 2 stone) but now I need to lose just over a stone to get back to my original starting point!

ThisIsntThe80sPat · 02/01/2024 08:34

Could I join this too please? (Even though I'm planning 2 stone over the year? I'm breastfeeding and find it very difficult to lose while doing so) Seems like a great supportive thread and I have lots to lose.

Height: 5ft 1
Sw (yesterday): 15st 10lbs
Tw end of year: 13st 10lbs

I'm hoping once I get into the swing of it, it'll happen faster but I'm aiming low to stop myself getting demotivated if it doesn't come off quickly. Ds2 is 1 this month and if it were my choice, I'd be breastfeeding another year so I need to go slowly as it can be really difficult for me to shift whilst bf.
Ideally I should be 9st 7 for my height but at this point, I'd be happy even just reaching 11-12 stone (which I'd like to reach by the start of 2026).

I'm calorie counting, walking, hiking and doing one or two zumbas a week.

Good luck everyone!

loulougall · 02/01/2024 08:40

I'm in too. Heaviest I've ever been! Weighed in this morning and now feeling so down about how much I've put on over the past year!

Age: 40
H: 5.4
SW: 16.6st
EW: 14st
EoY GW: 12.5st

Will weigh in every Monday (starting next week) and aim to use MFP to track calories/ exercise. Plus, doing dry Jan which I'm hoping will help kickstart the weight loss.

Good luck everyone!

flyright · 02/01/2024 08:51

Here we go

Age 60
5ft 8
SW 14 stone 12
CW 14 stone 12
TW 13 stone 7 - at Easter.

Cutting down snacks and alcohol, continuing C25K. Drinking more water. Fewer carbs.

Into battle we go. Best of luck.

kirinm · 02/01/2024 08:55

I had plans to prep lunch for work last night but there were various family emergencies which put a stop to that. The last time I ate was at about 10:30pm so based on 16:8 intermittent fasting, I will not be eating until 2ish. I have also got two PT sessions in the diary - one of which is today.

SW - 15.10
GW - 11
Easter goal - 14.3 (I think 2 stone is unlikely because I'm peri and weight loss is always so slow.

kirinm · 02/01/2024 08:56

I forgot to put my age

Age 45

SW - 15.10
GW - 11
Easter goal - 14.3 (I think 2 stone is unlikely because I'm peri and weight loss is always so slow.

Good to see so many people on board.
I started yesterday, but am hoping this week will be about no more damage, with an aim to starting properly next Monday.
I'm planning on doing intermittent fasting and avoiding processed foods.
Yesterday I managed 16 hours fast. I'm not going to manage that today as I'm out for brunch with friends, but hoping for no snacking!
Good luck everyone.
