2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

as of the 1st i've upped the goals on my apple watch; increased activity calories per day to 500, increased exercise minutes to 45, and increased steps to 10,000.
i had lowered them all over the past year to (in theory) maintain...clearly NOT.
back on track with cc, and fitness walking less sweets and treats.

TicketyBoo11 · 03/01/2024 08:29

I’ve been getting the vibe in the media that counting calories is bad etc etc but I don’t think there’s any other way..I have been maintaining 12st for a long while and my daily intake is supporting that BUT I need to drop my weight and the only way to do it is to count my calories and reduce what I give my body. I think it’s naive to say you don’t need to count. Laborious though it is. Just thinking out loud after reading about the Louise Parker Method…

GCAcademic · 03/01/2024 08:41

Well, I have put on 4lb over Christmas and New Year. Am horrified at how quickly it's gone back on.

SW: 14st 10lb
CW: 12st 11lb
TW (Easter): 11st

ToddlerMumma · 03/01/2024 08:44

So far so good! Even made it to a very rainy 6.30am bootcamp this morning.
Finding it so much easier to stay within my calories now I'm not drinking alcohol! Looking forward to beans on toast for breakfast now. Have a great day all!

recklessgran · 03/01/2024 08:49

@TicketyBoo11 I don't count but I'm doing low carb 16:8 so a sort of Keto light. I've done it successfully before so I guess I have a feel for what and how much I can have. Obviously I didn't get to grips with maintaining hence here I am back at square one!
I agree though I can't see that NOT counting would work if you aren't restricting anything foodwise.

Satincat · 03/01/2024 10:16

A good day yesterday. Drank more water, didn't snack. Bought some dark chocolate as in the past I've found it really does work having a square or two to stave off chocolate cravings.

Also bought gluten free crackers etc. I'm not coeliac but I definitely don't do well with wheat, it makes me windy and bloated. Then whenever I feel out of whack with that, I find myself eating more (not necessarily junk but just... more of everything) to try and eat my way out of not feeling so good. I know that doesn't make sense, but it's what I do. So I'm trying to pre-empt that by avoiding foods that can set me off on a spiral.

Hope everyone else is having a good day so far!

LosingMyPumpkins · 03/01/2024 12:09

I am joining in! Weigh in will be Friday, for me. I hope that´s okay :) (aka this Friday)

Satincat · 03/01/2024 13:14

Glad to have this group especially this time of year. My plan is to quietly get in shape in these dull bundle-up months, so that when the "sunnier weather" (ha!) starts in April/May, I can wear summer stuff without the usual dose of dismay because nothing fits/looks good etc. Not this year! So over that.

DocOck · 03/01/2024 13:16

I need to lose 2 stone but don't think I'll do it by Easter, I've set myself the goal of 1 stone by Easter but I will follow this thread and your journeys with interest!

lorisparkle · 03/01/2024 13:16

I really need to join. I have started some new tablets which on the plus side stop me from feeling awful but on the negative side make me HUNGRY! I now have put on another stone on top of the stone I gained over lockdown and just can't budge.

My plan is...

Up my protein
Eat between 12pm and 6pm
At least a 15 minute walk a day
Try for 15 minute exercise a day
Try and cut out sugar

I have bought the 'Feel good in 15' book by Joe Wicks and it seems good so far.

Hope everyone is still feeling positive

A positive today:

  1. long train journey so had a few coffees with MCT Ketp creamer to fend off cravings (Davinia Taylor inspired - if interested it’s https://www.willpowders.com/collections/all-products/products/mct-keto-powder)
  2. had a chickpea salad and pop chips for lunch instead of a massive baguette from the buffet.
  3. DID NOT BUY TRAIN SNACKS IN ADVANCE!! This is a small but hugely significant change for me - I normally load up 🤣

Baby steps! Hope you are all doing ok x

I'd love to succeed at this, even one stone would be brilliant. I'm doing Intermittent Fasting and lowish carb. Eight hour window, and approx 80g daily. I need to go back and read all the thread for inspiration.

Rumdiddly · 03/01/2024 19:24

Please may I join? 2 stone to lose before my wedding in June. Would be amazing to manage it before Easter. Is it possible?!

minisoksmakehardwork · 03/01/2024 20:28

I've decided to try intermittent fasting. I get up around 430-5 most days and just don't fancy eating then anyway. So far, I've held off eating until 12 noon with plenty of sugar free squash to drink and a couple of cups of tea.

It's been quite nice and I've cut the snacking right back as well so by tea time, I actually feel hungry but rather than feeling like I've got to eat everything in sight, I'm enjoying the feeling! I know it sounds weird.

I'm also trying to avoid dairy so black tea it is. Only thing is, I need sugar in tea to be able to drink it. I can do without milk, but I need 2 sugars or I can't abide it! I'll work on cutting sugar down more slowly!

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 03/01/2024 20:31

@TicketyBoo11 cc is basically all that i know.
it's very very tedious and currently the web site i'm using for my data (cronometer) seems very accurate but my experience with some other web sites like mfd where people can enter random data made cc frustrating.
not to mention it's not practical when dining out (but really nothing is).

20Twenty4 · 03/01/2024 20:37

1hr PT session this morning and 9,099 steps taken so far today. Not eaten the cleanest but not bad either. All in all, it's been a good day! Another PT session tomorrow so hoping to keep the momentum going.

Irishstout · 03/01/2024 21:21

Just hit my 10k steps for today. Made myself go out for a long dog walk after work as work had involved a lot of sitting. Tried to stick to planned food today and didn't do too bad.

New soup maker has arrived so I can soup for lunch. I was having tinned soup but in the interests of reducing UPFs I've decided I can start making it.

85isalive · 03/01/2024 21:38

Adding myself to the thread, thanks for setting it up @RedDoughnut

My weigh in day is Wed. I hopped on scales this morning after 2 weeks off plan. I am up 5 or 6 lbs but it should drop off quickly enough. I have 2-3 more stone to lose. I want to make a good dent in that by easter. I am doing BodySlims online, which runs for 10 weeks from 17th Jan, but I will start from now to get a head start

TicketyBoo11 · 03/01/2024 21:39

All good today. Under my allocated calories and eating well.

Question: How are you doing with your protein? I can’t get my daily higher than 50g on average. I’m 55 so I know it’s important…
Tips and tricks please..

97percentCheese · 03/01/2024 21:53

I am not eating any snacks tonight.

abbs1 · 03/01/2024 22:08

Any tips on getting in steps with little ones at home? Walks with a 4 and 2 Yr old are slow. I'm doing 25mins of HIIT once their in bed from YouTube videos but feel I need to walk more and at a quicker pace during the day.

I'm also awful for snacking in the evening but managed so far to resist the last 3 nights.
