2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

Mini Goal 58 Kg
Stayed the same this week, bit frustrating as STS for 3 weeks.

Did go out Saturday for a Birthday and the rugby. out again this Saturday for the rugby also. So maybe should just hope for a STS again.

Good luck everyone for the coming week.

Well done on your amazing losses. They're insane!

What is OMAD?

Thank you. I’m really pleased and have to say I’m lucky that it does tend to come off quite quickly for me. OMAD is one meal a day. So I’m fasting all day (just drinking herbal tea) then eating one meal in the evening. I’m making sure I cook from scratch, lowish carb and lots of protein and vegetables. It’s not for everyone and some people seem horrified but I honestly find it really quite easy. I’ve had one or two days max where I’ve been really ready for my meal but usually I’m fine. I think eating earlier makes me hungry so I tend to eat more so for me personally it’s great. I have to make this work this time for health reasons so I’m very focussed indeed which helps! Will keep on with it while it’s working!

kirinm · 07/02/2024 12:06

@WhatIsThisCough I would definitely find that tough. I don't eat breakfast (never really have) and have in the past tried to have a very small lunch. That isn't working for me as I'm starving in the evening and have a tendency to just eat whatever I can.

I'm starting to have larger lunches - closer to 600/700 calories and a similar sized dinner. That seems to be more sustainable for me.

Yes, that sounds like a sensible plan! As I said, OMAD is definitely not for everyone. It’s about finding what works for you and as you say, what you find most sustainable.

Morning all! Hope everyone is well - quick update as I’m running late … but pleased with 2lbs off this week!

I had a very carby day yesterday! I've been doing low carb, general healthy eating - no snacking / smaller meals etc. which works for me except when I do off piste and then I think I should go down the calorie counting route. What does everyone else do?

recklessgran · 08/02/2024 13:02

@specsavers I was doing my own version of low carb but not calorie counting. I found the losses painfully slow but I have an underactive thyroid which contributes towards the difficulty I have with losing weight. It took me the whole of January to lose 6lbs. On Monday I started an eight week low carb boot camp so I'm hoping for better results going forward. I'm being really strict though and drinking gallons of water which is apparently key when low carbing. Time will tell.

KinderToMyFutureSelf · 08/02/2024 13:39

I’m doing my own thing! I call it “Mindful Eating” these are my “rules”

No eating after 8pm in the evening
Only have fruit or healthy nuts as a snack
Cut back on carbs
Drink at least 2 x 800ml bottles of water a day at my desk
If I want to enjoy the Christmas Cheese, have it – with butter and crackers, but have it as a meal
One Horlicks a week (would love one each evening made with milk and two sugars) – now it’s a Sunday night “Call The Midwife” treat with one sugar!
And probably the two most important things for me …. if I am going out for a meal, enjoy it and don’t think you’ve broken your diet and if you do really want something, sit down and enjoy it – don’t hide in the Utility Room stuffing your face!

Not quite sure where this willpower came from, but I’m making the most of it while it’s here!

Spaceracers · 08/02/2024 21:16

@recklessgran what / where is the low carb boot camp?

@KinderToMyFutureSelf loving the rules! Similar to mine but I am frequently eating past 8pm although have stopped sofa snacking..!

recklessgran · 08/02/2024 22:49

@Spaceracers you'll find it in the Low carb bootcamp topic. It's run by the wonderful BIWI and has been going for years. There's a set of rules to follow and it's basically a keto diet but eveyone's following more or less the same regime. There's lots of recipes and everybody swaps ideas and supports each other - a bit like here really except on this thread everyone's following their own methods. It is restrictive and probably not for everyone but it's right for me as I'm definitely a carb addict and bread is my downfall - it's my very own version of carb crack so best I don't have it at all since I simply can't moderate my behaviour around freshly baked bread! I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago - 3 stone in six months but put it all back on and more when I went back to my old habits. Sigh. Tryng again!

WeirdPookah · 09/02/2024 06:03

I lost 2lbs this week.

22.9lbs down Since January 1st
64.8lbs down total.

Seaitoverthere · 09/02/2024 07:10

2.4lbs this week making 11.8lb this year.

@WeirdPookah you have lost a huge amount already this year! Can I ask how you are doing it?

@WeirdPookah you have lost a huge amount already this year! Can I ask how you are doing it?

I stopped all the sugar and empty carbs after eating crap loads over Christmas, my first drop of the year was a decent amount of bloating gone. Many bathroom trips. Sugar makes me bloat, but still ate so much over the holidays.

And actually being honest about what I am eating, weighing, tracking and eating 1400 calories. Trying to move daily.

Absolutely not using any drugs or weird online obtained concoctions.

Seaitoverthere · 09/02/2024 10:59

That’s amazing ! I am doing exactly the same but very immobile currently and over 50 which makes a big difference I guess.

WeirdPookah · 09/02/2024 11:02

@Seaitoverthere are you able to do anything like seated workouts? I believe Joe Wicks has done some, I do lots of his workouts, we started doing PE with Joe in lockdown.

I'm no spring chicken either, and have a decidedly dodgy knee due to injury as a teenager, so my exercise is never high impact or intense. I walk a lot.

Sleeplessinseattle234 · 09/02/2024 11:20

I normally weigh everyday. But I have been struggling with plateau since the beginning of Jan. not surprised it had to come. Have been loosing weight since last August.

so going to take a week off of weighing myself. Try and change my food if I can but still keep within my calories. I haven’t cheated yet. So not starting now. Will be nice actually to not have to wake up early to get on the scales.

Seaitoverthere · 09/02/2024 14:16

Thanks @WeirdPookah , I will have a look. I used to walk and run a few years ago so not being able to walk more than a few metres k most of the time is a bit of a shock. I’m hoping to go swimming soon, just need to sort logistics of it all, things are that slight added layer of complication when you need a grabber and a sock putter on thingy to get dressed.

Dwrcegin · 10/02/2024 10:03

recklessgran · 12/02/2024 06:41

Morning all this weigh day Monday.
Start weight 15st 1lb
Today 14st 6lbs
That's a 2.5lb loss for me which I'm happy with after a week on low carb boot camp. It's still painfully slow progress and a bit disheartening compared to others on here but 9lbs down since new year is better than nothing and still going in the right direction. Keep going everyone.

Hank86 · 12/02/2024 06:59

1lb off this week. Motivation is definitely harder now! Still going with keto. Good luck to all everyone this week!

SW 1st Jan - 12st
CW - 10st 13lb
GW - 10st

Spaceracers · 12/02/2024 07:22

1lb lost this week, throughout the week the scales barely moved from 11st 10.2 when there is normally more fluctuations. I don't know whether to be pleased or disappointed! Part of me feels like I have tried really hard but then at the same time I did go out for dinner on Saturday night and drink wine etc.

This 1lb off gives me an average of losing 2lbs a week for the last 4 weeks which is great, though I expect it will start to slow.

Onwards (but hopefully not upwards) to pancake day and Valentine's Day!

falgelednl · 12/02/2024 08:36

Still going slow but steady.

SW 88.9kg
CW 83.2kg

Total loss 5.7kg (about 12.5lbs)
bmi 29.4 (have moved into the overweight category 😀)

Walkingbkwrm · 12/02/2024 09:17

Slow and steady here too with a 0.7 kg loss. This week will be extra tricky as it’s half term though. Fingers crossed it doesn’t go too wrong.
Happy to be the lightest I’ve been in 3 years, now just have to keep it up!
After trying stricter stuff and falling off the wagon several times I’m trying to fit more veg into meals, doing mild IF (14:10) and measuring out snacks only - as snacks are usually my downfall.

Satincat · 12/02/2024 09:37

Half a pound off this week which is small but better than nothing. The loss has really slowed down which is to be expected, even though I eat (or snack) nowhere near as much as I did before I started, it's definitely the end of the "quick start" loss that can happen at the start of a new diet plan... However it's good to remember that whatever weight losses happen after the first month, no matter how small, are because a new habit is taking shape. Otherwise, weight would stay the same or be going steadily back up.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 12/02/2024 10:19

Goal 13kg
1st week -1kg
2nd week -0.8kg
3rd week -0.4kg
4th week +0.1kg
5th week -1.3kg
This week +0.2kg
total -3.2k

Really frustrated. You'd think I had only a couple of stone to lose not many times that ☹️
All the numbers say I should be losing 1kg a week at minimum.

Sleep would probably help but is always nearly impossible to control- but that's going to be my focus now.

well done everyone for still being here
