2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

5lb off in month 1. Less than I'd hoped for, but I'll take it ☺️
Good luck all

Seaitoverthere · 01/02/2024 07:21

@LolaJ87 I’m so sorry about your dog 🌷

8.8lbs off for me this month which given I can’t walk very much at all and getting worse, I am very pleased with .

2024fit · 01/02/2024 07:31

I think my weight has plateaued in January but hoping I’ve lost body fat. I’m doing a lot of gentle exercise throughout the day,
since I don’t leave the house much, that amounts to 10-12K steps a day.

I’ve been eating within my calorie allowance most days and I’ve only eaten out a few days at the start of the month when I was on holiday, so I’m pleased with this shift to incorporating daily healthy habits.

However, I can’t really do any more exercise than I do now realistically so thinking my strategy for February will be to eat twice a day. 7am morning coffee, 10am breakfast and 6pm dinner and fruit or veg for snacking if I need to, which should bring my calorie count down and also make me think about food less hopefully!

PotatoFan · 01/02/2024 08:11

Month 1 checkin time and 1 stone off. Do have a headache and high blood sugar so I’m a bit dehydrated but I’ll take it.

@2024fit I didn’t loose any for weeks. But in that time I managed to fit my rings back on and my face was a ton thinner. So u will be losing it may just not be showing on the scales.

kirinm · 01/02/2024 08:44

About 6lb off for me this month - disappointing as I have a lot to lose but scales are also unreliable as I almost always have some form of DOMS. I'm having two PT sessions a week and am on week 5 of C25K too so getting in the exercise.

I'd really like to lose 8lb in Feb which is 2lb a week so going to have to be stricter with food. I really need some filling lunch ideas as I'm not eating enough then and so am ravenous by the evening.

kirinm · 01/02/2024 09:10

I've just measured and from hips, waist and thighs I've lost 3.5 inches in total.

Given that my weight is always affected by DOMS, it's nice to see some downwards movement in inches if not the scales so much!

WeirdPookah · 01/02/2024 10:00

I lost a total of 20.5 lbs in January.

This week was a bust, hardly anything, not surprising after the weekend, but still annoying.

20lbs is absolutely insane! Well done. I can't imagine losing that in 3 months let alone 1!

Satincat · 01/02/2024 10:20

That's amazing progress all round! Congratulations all! ⭐Some fantastic losses for January here. I love hearing of good progress, I find it inspiring. If I feel like giving up after a bad day or two, knowing that others are still here and keeping going inspires me to keep going too.

Scales shifted down a touch today so have lost a total of 9lb in January, which I'm happy with. Had a better day yesterday, got back on track after a wobbly few days. I went food shopping for healthy dinners and although my hand did pause over some favourite sweet treats, I didn't buy them and I was happy I resisted, as I know my own pattern too well - buy treats, eat treats, sigh over the scales. I'm so over sighing over the scales Smile

Have a 70th birthday to go to at the weekend so I'm hoping to plan ahead for that. I'm aiming for a balance - not nibble a lettuce leaf and sip water, but not go overboard. Somewhere in the middle.

Apprenante · 01/02/2024 15:48

12.5 lbs lost in January. I don't think that's repeatable for February but 6lb would be nice!

I'd like to lose 10% of my starting weight which would be 20lb - but I think that might be a bit ambitious for the end of February. Here's hoping!

My DH has just been told he's pre-pre diabetic. Little advice from his allocated 'coach' as yet . He certainly doesn't need to lose weight (Bmi is 22 and he's been at the same weight for years and years) nor be more active (gym/badminton/long walks every day). I suggested he records what he normally eats on MFP. Averaging 3000 cals per day and over 200g carbs Any ideas - I'm sure there's a lot of wisdom in this group.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 01/02/2024 15:58

@Apprenante first I’d double check the results, had he indeed fasted prior to any blood tests. If it was over a longer reading A1C, I’d suggest backing off sugary treats like pie and baked goods.
my dh, refused to believe what fasting bloodwork actually was, easily ate entire pies and box’s of donuts while maintaining a normal wt/bmi. Luckily in our case, mystery solved.

I'm pretty excited to see how this month goes.

Seaitoverthere · 01/02/2024 19:19

Great results on here. I went for hospital appointment today and weighed am 11 kg down from appointment at start of November. I was saying I had stomach pain at Christmas. She was looking at my notes and said with a worried look on her face that I had lost a lot of weight.

I explained I had been working hard at it and she looked so relieved bless her, I think she thought I might have cancer.

Crispsandchocolate4 · 03/02/2024 09:38

Its been a slow first few weeks but I have found the gym is now my happy place and have been waking up every morning excited to go in my lunch break which I never in a million years thought would happen! I was feeling annoyed that I was only loosing 1lb a week. Then this week comes along and I weigh in on Wednesday and Ive stayed the same however somthing made me weigh again last night and I'm seeing movement woohooo

SW: 12s13lbs
GW: 10s7lbs
CW: 12s 7lbs

@Crispsandchocolate4
that’s really encouraging to see after a static week for me - love your user name!

kirinm · 03/02/2024 18:13

Does anyone have any lunch recommendations? Ideally fairly filling as I don't eat breakfast generally.

Theresit · 03/02/2024 20:28

I use Purition for my lunch. It keeps me full til dinner time. I also skip breakfast.

recklessgran · 04/02/2024 07:43

@kirinm I eat these 3 lunches in rotation during the week - tuna mayo, chopped chicken mayo or egg mayo with salad. All can be prepped the night before and are easily portable for work etc. At the weekends I cook something substantial like bacon, egg, mushrooms & tomato or an omelette with various fillings. I'm low carbing and all of these lunches keeps me full until dinner. I also don't eat breakfast.

loverrr · 04/02/2024 09:10

Morning all, 4 weeks in for me today!
Sw 16.7
Today 15.5
On track to get to 14.7 stone by Easter, & definitely feeling much less sluggish!

Hank86 · 05/02/2024 07:44

Weighing today after a break from weighing last Monday - I was away with no access to scales. 2lb off today which I'm pleased about. 1 stone down so half way there... Still doing keto but it was v hard to stick to it when I wasn't cooking for myself!
SW 1st jan - 12st
CW - 11st
GW - 10st

Keep going everyone!!

Walkingbkwrm · 05/02/2024 07:48

Only 0.5kg loss for me this week - I have had a cold though so my activity levels have been much less than usual. Still, think I need to ramp it up a little for Feb. Not sure how though yet as if I make it too hard I will fall off the wagon (done this before…) and am staying mostly on track atm. Feels a lot harder and more like a slog than a month ago though :(.
I usually have leftovers from last night’s dinner for lunch. I like a hard boiled egg for mid morning snack/ breakfast (I don’t eat breakfast at breakfast time either). Very easy and portable:).
Very jealous of those who are seeing better measurements - measured myself for end of Jan and appear to have put on 2cm on my waist instead of losing any - despite losing >3kg and going to the gym 😭

SW 110.7kg
GW (for Easter) 98kg
CW 107.2kg

chalkyc2 · 05/02/2024 08:17

Ok - showing up after last weeks sulk!

01/01 - 12 st/76.2kg
08/01 - 11 st 11/74.7kg
15/01 - 11 st 9/73.8kg
22/01 - 11 st 4/72kg
29/01 - STS
05/01 - 11st 1/70.2kg

Nearly a stone off now and almost creeping into normal BMI. Which is unbelievable given where I started last year. I ran 10k yesterday and it felt...relaxed..achievable even! It wasn't fast but I was proud!

Off on hols for a week for half term on Friday so next couple of weeks could be a bit up and down.

Let's go!

PotatoFan · 05/02/2024 08:30

Still feels like things are a bit slower now but they’re heading the right way at least. Nutritionist tomorrow with my photo food diary to check in on 1 months progress.

3lb off after stagnating last week
SW 13st 4
CW 12st 11
TW 11st

Trying not to look at the TW because it seems too far away.
My treat at -10lb is to have my car valeted. Never done this before and I’m trying to think of nice rewards that don’t include food…
