2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

Me please.

2 stone is my overall goal.

I tried to start today but after an omelette for breakfast the Christmas chocolates got me :(

How are you all planning on doing it?

I'm doing -

3 strength training sessions a week
10,000 steps a day
Setting myself a bedtime of 10pm (I have 2 very young DC so never get enough sleep)
Cutting out refined sugar and incorporating more protein into my diet

Do you have a plan?

PurpleWhirple · 31/12/2023 08:03

I have much more than this to lose but 2 stone by Easter would be an excellent start. Given my current weight I think 3 stone is achievable in 3 months so that's what I'm aiming for. I will be on the low carb bootcamp threads too. This is the only thing that works for me and that I think I can sustain.

suneetime · 31/12/2023 08:08

I’m in. I was on the Christmas thread but only managed to lose a few pounds before food got the better of me! Need to get this weight off in 2024. Going to weigh in and start on 2nd Jan as that’s when I’m back at work, then will weigh in weekly on a Monday. I’m going to go back to intermittent fasting as that works for me and kick start with dry Jan too. Self care will be facial skin care in the evenings rather than just falling into bed with my mascara still on.

Boboparadise · 31/12/2023 08:11

Yes count me in. Around 3 and a half stone to lose. Need some motivation.

recklessgran · 31/12/2023 08:12

Thanks @RedDoughnut I'm in again. Moving over from the last thread but I'm back to square one as I struggled to keep my head in the game due to various life stuff.
No more. This brand New Year is for me! I'm making sorting myself out a priority.

I will be low carbing and 16:8 but not specifically calorie counting.
I have a brand new notebook so I will be recording my daily weight and what I have eaten in there - this has worked for me in the past so I hope it will again.
As my diet will be very restrictive I am going to allow myself one meal a week to eat whatever I like - we eat out fairly frequently so that should cover those occasions without doing too much damage and I hope will keep me motivated in the long term.
Back tomorrow with the first weigh in. Happy New Year all - let's do it!

Avacadoandtoast · 31/12/2023 08:22

@recklessgran any chance you could share a page of your notepad (to see how it is structured?)

ChickenChipsandBeans · 31/12/2023 08:34

Hi. I'm back in. All my good intentions fell away over the last 10 days or so. I'm snacking on crisps that didn't get eaten, and I don't even like them! At least another 2 stones to lose. My scale battery finally gave in 3 days ago...need to buy a new one and start again tomorrow. My self care is to continue making time to exercise and walk outside.

Spink86 · 31/12/2023 08:41

Hello, I definitely need something like this to keep me accountable!
I need to lose 2.5 stone. I'll be travelling to see my husband's family in Turkey mid April and would love to get back into my pre baby clothes (the baby is 2 in February so it's no longer baby weight but cake!)
My self care involves getting my nails done once a month. I want to have a spa day in March when I have handed in my masters dissertation though so losing weight for that would be nice too!

Newyearnewstart2024 · 31/12/2023 08:47

I'd like to join too please x

Bigbus · 31/12/2023 08:47

2 stone by Easter would be amazing and take me to almost target. How does it work? I wasn’t on the last thread. Do we post our weights on Mondays or just our changes?

Irishstout · 31/12/2023 08:47

I'm in. Getting married in May and my dress is lovely but I know will look a lot better if I shift the weight.

I've started PT this year which has helped me feel a bit better in myself. But realistically 1hr of gym time a week doesn't make enough of a difference without other changes.

I'm rubbish at calorie counting or anything like that because I just can't stick to it. My plan is to cut down on portions and reduce/remove snacks. I'm planning on focusing on meals around veg and removing as many UPF as possible.

I'm going to start C25K running with the dog after work and try for 1 workout on top of the PT session a week. Hit my 10k steps everyday (this is normally easy with the dog but I've got so lazy with the rubbish weather).

These aren't massive changes really but require a bit of focus and determination.

Will be back tomorrow with start weight and measurements.

I'll back the comment asking for journal spread ideas. I'll try and get that written as well.

Cactuslove · 31/12/2023 08:50

Hi all... I'd like to joint. Lost 6 stone over last 2 yrs but gradually put some on since September. Would love to lose 2 St by Easter. For me that's a healthy bmi and a nice size 12 in time for summery months.

How is everyone doing it? I'm calorie counting and fasting two days per week. Read the fast diet book by Michael Moseley and it's the only things that's made sense for me. Used to yoyo between ww and sw and water a lot of money in the process!

Nevernottrying · 31/12/2023 08:51

Would definitely love to join in. Have put on a lot of weight due to medication and am disgusted with myself 😩. We have a family holiday mid year and my goal is not to embarrass my kids in togs!!

recklessgran · 31/12/2023 08:53

@Avacadoandtoast you can get proper food journals with stickers, trackers and all sorts on Amazon for this but I'm just using a normal lined hardback notebook with 2 ribbon page markers. This one was given to me by my grand daughter for Christmas and has been embossed on the front with the personalisation "Granny's Secret Notebook. None of your business!" My family often gift them to me as they know I love a notebook and use them rather like a diary - my whole life is in my notebooks - finances, passwords, Christmas ideas and lists, family stuff, house stuff, general stuff - everything has a notebook and they're all kept in the top drawer of my desk. It's a standing joke in the family - where everyone elses life is in their phone, mine's in my various notebooks.
For this one, which will be dedicated to weight loss, every morning I'll write the day/date and my weight [I'm a daily weigher] then underneath what I've eaten that day, how much water I've drunk [essential] and whether or not I've exercised. [I'm very physically lazy] Obviously a fresh entry each day. There's something about having to write down what I've been eating that prevents me from snacking or going off plan. A week normally takes a double page spread so at the end of the week I'll make a note of the week's loss and turn over and start again. Phew - sorry for the long post but hope it helps someone!

Melsy88 · 31/12/2023 08:54

I'm definitely in please! How does it work?

jillyc1974 · 31/12/2023 09:02

I'm joining too. Have 3.5 stone to lose. Would love to lose 2 stone before Easter, then the rest before a holiday in July. Need to be accountable and not cheat!

recklessgran · 31/12/2023 09:06

@Melsy88 and others - just post your start weight tomorrow - after that post whatever and whenever you like about how you're getting on, what you're eating, what you're struggling with, ideas etc - there aren't any rules as such - we're all using different methods with the same goal - the main thing is not to give up when things go wrong and you fall off the wagon. There's always somebody here to support/encourage/commiserate and that's the point of the thread - to help each other reach the common shared goal. @RedDoughnut does a stirling job of keeping up with us all and setting a great example. Next week and each Monday after that post your start weight, current weight and total loss so far. That's ut really. Some people post most days, some only on weigh day - just do what suits you best.

clpsmum · 31/12/2023 09:11

Can I join please. I'm starting on wed

Bourbanbiscuit · 31/12/2023 09:21

Yes please. That would be a great start x

CovidCantKillChristmas · 31/12/2023 09:21

Oooh just what I am needing! I have 4st to lose so 2 by Easter is an ideal goal. Plan:
1)I am changing my job in Jan from a desk job to one where I will be on my feet all day so that will help.
2)I have also gotten in to the habit of drinking 3/4 days a week so that has stopped since 27/12.
3)I mindlessly eat chocolate/biscuits after lunch and dinner every day so that stopped yesterday 30/12
4)I have bought a stepper to exercise. Currently up to 12 mins a day. Planning to get to at least 20 mins a day.
5)I just need to make healthier choices and eat more fruit and veg at every meal.
Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.xx

qwerty1972 · 31/12/2023 09:23

Good morning! Easing myself in gently today and weighing in tomorrow. I'd like to lose about 30lbs by the summer and also take much better care of myself. I'm a full-time active wheelchair user so the plan is:

  1. Make time to wheel outdoors daily (regardless of weather)
  2. Yoga daily (even if it is just 15 mins)
  3. Small portions of healthy, nutritious food with nothing forbidden.
  4. Drink a lot more water.
  5. No phone scrolling at bedtime.

Good luck everyone! I'm looking forward to the journey with all of you.

KrazyboutKillian · 31/12/2023 09:32

I have 4 stone to lose so 2 would be great initially , just in time for an April wedding I am attending
I will probably follow Michael Moseley and also get into 16:8 again , hard going at first but then . It just ‘clicks ‘

HopeAfresh · 31/12/2023 09:34

I would like to join. Is there a plan…?

After lugging around 23kg suitcases recently, it was a sobering thought that I need to lose 23kg to get to my upper goal and 27kg to get to my lower goal. My body will feel so much better lighter…

stclair · 31/12/2023 09:40

I am up for losing 2 stone by Easter as visiting my family abroad! My
plan is to wear my teeth whitening moutguards for an hour when in I get in from work. I can’t wear them overnight as teeth too sensitive so when the snacking hour sets in while I’m cooking dinner hopefully they will help stop that nonsense 😌

zizza · 31/12/2023 09:42

I'll be with you!!!! Need at least 3 stone off but would be really happy with 2 and one of my dc's getting married in June, so I love this idea of focusing on Easter as an initial goal. I've always found it really hard to lose weight but have managed it with low carb and fasting, so that's what I'll go back to. Middle-aged hormonal changes won't help but I've got to do something.

Can relate to what Hope said above about lugging around heavy suitcases and realising how much better I'll feel without the 20kg that needs to go!
