2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

After a week of whoosh I've had a week of plateau. Completely unfair have eaten well and exercised every day. So I'm sulking. Back next week.

Go team 2 stone!

Spaceracers · 29/01/2024 07:49

Week 2 for me and I lost 1.5lbs! I am really happy with that because I think last week might have been an artificial low as I was weighing the same amount / above that amount for most of the week (annoyingly I weigh myself every day!). But I kicked into strict diet mode for the weekend and seems to have helped.

SW: 12st 4
CW 11st 13.5
GW: 9st 10

recklessgran · 29/01/2024 08:19

Morning all.
Start weight 15st 1lb
CW 14st 9lbs
That's a pound of for me this week. @chalkyc2 I'm really disappointed too if I'm honest as I've been really strict and hoped for at least a 2lb loss. Oh well, I guess my underactive thyroid needs to be taken in to account. At least it's a downwards trajectory, I'm ending the month 6lbs lighter than I started it and I'm not giving in! Well done everyone let's all keep going.

ToddlerMumma · 29/01/2024 09:05

Finally did my first half a stone Smile I've been calorie counting, bootcamp twice a week plus the Body Coach app a couple of times a week too. I'm hoping weight loss continues when dry January comes to an end. I must admit, I am very much looking forward to a large, cold glass of Chardonnay this week!!

SW - 200lbs
CW - 192lbs
🐣 - 172lbs
GW - 140lbs

GiantPigeon · 29/01/2024 09:27

Hi everyone,

I only did calorie counting on 2 days over the last week - I'm not happy with many elements of my life to be honest and feel I've lost motivation 🤔

31/12/23 - Unknown/Faulty scales
08/01/24 - 84.50kg/ 186.3lbs/ 13st 4.29lbs +/- unknown
15/01/24 - 82.50kg/ 181.9lbs/ 12st 13.9lbs -2.0kg/ -4.4lbs
22/01/24 - 83.00kg/ 183.0lbs/ 13st 0.98lbs +0.5kg/+1.1lbs
29/01/24 - 82.35kg/ 181.6lbs/ 12st 13.9lbs -0.65kg/-1.4lbs

Total weight loss since 1st accurate weight 08/01/24: -2.15kg/ -4.7lbs

BMI
08/01/24: 27.5 (Overweight)
15/01/24: 26.8 (Overweight)
22/01/24: 27.2 (Overweight)
29/01/24: 26.8 (Overweight)

I haven't done anything for myself regarding self care, as self care in recent years is normally food related as a way to ease difficult days of which there have been many. Although I've not counted calories every day, I've not eaten much in the way of cakes/takeaways etc.

Best of luck everyone

Lonestar1988 · 29/01/2024 09:56

Well done everyone.
A pound off for me this week so a total of 6lbs in 3 weeks.
29lbs left to go 🙄

Lonestar1988 · 29/01/2024 09:58

29lbs to go to get to a happy weight but ideally I would like to shift another stone after that. Hoping for a stone from now until Easter.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 29/01/2024 10:13

Congratulations for the losses.🎉

I feel totally demoralised

Goal 13kg
1st week -1kg
2nd week -0.8kg
3rd week -0.4kg
This week +0.1
total -2.1kg

Despite logging everything & staying well below the week's total every week which on paper should have resulted in more than a 4kg loss by now.

By bmi is 47 - I have loads to lose & feel helpless.

Hope those feeling unwell feel better soon 💐

Satincat · 29/01/2024 10:29

Maintain this week for me. I was doing really well, and then my DC got ill with a bug, then I got the bug, so along came eating randomly/mindlessly instead of mindfully and not drinking enough water etc when I should have been doing the opposite. However, a maintain is better than a gain, I guess. I won't let it knock me off track. Back on to it this week! Going shopping at lunch so I'll buy in healthy salads and fruit. Well done to all the losses! Keep going!

chalkyc2 · 29/01/2024 11:19

That's tough @Morwenscapacioussleeves - what's your plan currently?

chalkyc2 · 29/01/2024 11:19

That's tough @Morwenscapacioussleeves - what's your plan currently?

Thanks
Mostly calorie counting but also fasting either 18hrs or 22hrs
I'm keeping a eye on protein & avoiding white carbs (I have one homemade Naan bread once a week)

I drink plenty of water & walk for an hour or two every day (or 6/7 at least).

I plan to do a 36 or 48 fast this week (not sure if today or tomorrow yet because depends on kids) to see if that helps get things moving.

My sleep is generally fairly terrible & always has been.

I always take 6 weeks before I really see weight loss but my trust is fairly well broken so I'm scared it won't kick in this time!! I dont want to put my calories too low because it won't leave me much to lower later & it's going to be a long slog.

It's really hard not to compare with others.

Anyway sorry that's long - I've been around this track many times 😂

chalkyc2 · 29/01/2024 11:47

Oh blimey sounds like you're doing everything possible! I did Fast 800 last year (well still follow general principles but not as strict) and it sounds similar.

Except my calories certainly aren't that low! Averaging around 1500/day
I've done that low before & it worked like a dream for about 12 weeks then I stopped losing but plugged on for another month then put loads back on when I went up to a normal level of calories.

Fasting (alternate day) really did work for me but I can't deal with the hair loss again it made me really distressed & took a year to get back to nearer normal.
hopefully less regular longer fasts will do the trick?!
something has to work surely 😬

Walkingbkwrm · 29/01/2024 12:30

Definitely a maintain is still good @Satincat , don’t let it knock you off course. 👏 to @bfsham for her new BMI category:). Hang in there @Morwenscapacioussleeves and anyone else struggling this week. Well done to everyone with losses :).
Here I had a weekend off as was visiting a friend - there was takeaway, fizz and cake. On the other hand I resisted the snacks and ate sensibly for breakfasts/ lunches. So hoping it won’t have affected me too much though suspect it will impact next week rather than this one so we will see.
0.4kg loss this week. 2 stones by Easter is going to be v tricky at this rate but not giving up.
SW 110.7kg
CW 107.7
GW (for Easter) 98kg

kirinm · 29/01/2024 12:56

I'm going to weigh in on 1st - as I'll have a better idea of my months losses.

So far over the course of the last 3 days I've either lost half a stone or 2lbs. I've just started my period so todays weigh in isn't really helpful but then I've also had DOMS from personal training and running on and off through the week.

I'm hoping the half stone loss is right as that was really the minimum I was hoping for in a month. Certainly that's my target for next.

Ihonestlydontgetit · 29/01/2024 13:40

Another 1lb off for me this week so 7 in 4 weeks. It's been hard going and I'm getting fed up which is ridiculous 4 weeks in. I need to find some new interesting foods to eat.
Not sure dry January has helped but I'm going to extend it to a dry year with the exception of birthdays and special occasions.
Hope everyone is still hanging on into the longest ever month of the year and had had a good loss this week.

WinterStar1 · 29/01/2024 14:04

Haven't been feeling great over the weekend, another cough/chesty thing going on... gutted as I only felt like this 3 weeks ago. Its stopped me from going swimming yesterday and I really missed it.

However this is another week and another 1.1 kg less of me, so happy with the result. Have a good week everyone.

Current Loss: 1.1 kg
Total Loss: 5.9 kg
Target Loss: 12.7 kg

Seems a few of us are struggling this week 💐
I’ve been weighing every morning and 2 days ago got down to 11 st 10 from sw 12 st 4 then jumped up to 11 st 12 this morning, not sure why as I’ve cut calories and increased exercise…. at this point I’d usually give up so keep posting everyone - it’s keeping me motivated x

We are about the same weight and my scales jumped up 2lb randomly. I'm so looking forward to seeing single digits after the 11st. Plus 11st 9 puts me back into the healthy weight category. Hang on in there.
We will be glad we did come summer.

Sleeplessinseattle234 · 29/01/2024 18:09

@Fluffygoon if u weigh everyday it will change. My sister who is losing weight with me weighs everyday and hers only goes down. I weigh everyday and have done since last August and mine jumps up and down by at least a few pounds a lot.

as an example. Last week I was down to 10 stone 8 pounds. Today I hit 10. 9 again. Even though the 8 was there for most of last week. I don’t cheat on my calories. I have certain days like a Monday and a Friday where I normally weigh more than the rest of the week.

freaked me out at first. But I’m used to it now.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 29/01/2024 18:18

i'm pleased with my week and pleased that i will be super near or slight past a 10 lb loss for the month. which for me is phenominal.
SW 166.5
last monday 159.2
CW 157.3
yesterday was 156.8 and the jump this am was due to last nights dinner.... oddly or not pasta/tomato sauce/cheese always has me retain water even if i leave out any salt in the recipe. and this salt/water retention effect lasts a good 3 days.

Apprenante · 29/01/2024 19:24

Starting weight 14 st 6.5lbs
Current weight 13st 9.5lbs
Loss this week 1.75 lbs
Total loss 11lbs

This time last year I weighed a stone and a bit less than I do now which is quite dispiriting. Oh well - onwards and downwards.

I'm doing really well with not snacking between meals. I'm using my fitness pal and the faff of weighing, looking up and adding the snack is currently enough to stop me going for the little bunch of grapes or the mouthful of cheese. My self imposed rule is that I have to record what I'm eating before I eat it.

Recording calories works for me - when I get fed up and stop doing it is when I put the weight back on.

Well done everyone. Just the fact that we're checking in and being honest is a huge achievement. Well done us!

2024fit · 29/01/2024 20:02

Well done to all especially those who are persevering despite not seeing instant progress.

My diet’s been okay this month when I really pigged out on my period - not great. My waist is still 31.5 and my weight is still bouncing around within the 70-72kg range.
I’ve hit over 10K steps nearly every day for the past week or so doing a mixture of YouTube walking workouts and using my walking pad. The weather has been a bit milder this past week so I try and get out a couple of days a week to walk around town doing errands.

I feel I’ve mentioned scale fluctuations a lot on this thread lol but it keeps coming up so I feel it’s worth repeating.

This is one of many articles online which explain how scales fluctuate for a variety of reasons from eating too much salt to eating certain healthy foods or exercising a lot.

“Eating healthy foods that contain lots of H2O, like fruits and veggies, soups, and smoothies, could also cause a temporary uptick on the scale, says Dr. May. (You know, because: water.)”

This is why I try and stay neutral about small increases or decreases on the scale, unless it’s part of an overall trend I know a gain or loss of 2 or 3 pounds may not mean anything on it’s own. If it continues that’s another story.

Sometimes I get a bit sick of hovering around 70Kg /11 stone - give or take a few pounds- but I don’t let it discourage me. I remind myself that this is a lifestyle change and the weight will come off eventually. And even if it didn’t, my health is still benefiting from daily exercise and better food choices so it’s not a “waste” .

Here's Why Over-Exercising Can Actually Make The Scale Number Go Up

And six other reasons your weight seems to fluctuate all the damn time.

It’s a gain this week. It’s been a hard week so I’m surprised it’s only 1, it was more than that at times. I really lost it with the plan last week and ate rubbish, but restarted today.

First months weigh in for the weight management program is next week and I was 19st1.5 when I started that so not going to look like I’ve lost much unless I knuckle down this week!

SW: 19st10
W1: -6, 19st4
W2: -3, 19st1
W3: -3, 18st12
W4: +1, 18st13
GW: 14st10

falgelednl · 29/01/2024 21:12

I am still persevering with calorie counting and the main difference is a lot less snacking in the evenings.

I still need to up my water intake.
Other than calorie counting, I’m not limiting what I eat by type (couldn’t do without bread or cheese - now just having a lot less of it).
I’m generally only eating breakfast (about 6.30am) and dinner (about 6.30pm) on work days, which isn’t unusual and is easy to maintain most of the time.

SW 88.9kg
CW 84.9 kg
this week’s loss 1.3kg
total loss 4kg (8.8lb)

BMI is still in obese range but hopefully next week will see me in the overweight category (for the first time in a long time).
