2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

Congratulations!

thank you @Satincat i'm trying not to overshare details with my dh (who gets competitive) or bore my friends (who have heard my story time and time again over the decades).
I hope you are having some january success?

KinderToMyFutureSelf · 18/01/2024 06:03

Morning everyone, really enjoying reading how we're all doing. I've tried to be good this week even though I went away for weekend with a friend who had (very kindly) prepared our meals so I wasn't as 'in control' as I'd have liked. I tried to balance this with lots of walking and choosing fruit for pudding. Pleased with 2lbs off this week .... still making my way through the M&S chocolate pice cones Satincat!

Well done on the progress everyone and remember even if you aren’t seeing changes on the scales you might see them in other ways (body measurements, clothes fitting easier) and it also depends what time you get on the scales.

I’ve managed to keep to 1350 calories most day (I’m 5ft 2) which I track in Myfitnesspal and did 7K-12K steps ever day this week after a lazy weekend on the couch . I WFH but follow YouTube exercise videos and use my walking pad to get my steps in.

Results : Lost an inch off my waist since the start of this month, now at 31.5 inches.

I weigh myself most mornings so I can kind of take a rough average. My weight has been stuck within the 70-72kg range since last August.

But for two days in a row now the scale is showing I’m 69.5Kg 🎉 Trying to keep it going! Got 15 mins exercise in this morning and will do more throughout the day.

kirinm · 18/01/2024 08:44

Im going to test the theory of 3500 calories deficit per pound of fat loss next week. I'll aim for a 7000 calorie deficit (I exercise several times a week so won't be reducing calories by 1000 a day).

Satincat · 18/01/2024 09:33

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea I'm the same but the opposite way around, DH has heard it all before so I don't really talk about it beyond a vague "trying to cut down on snacks a bit", and with friends it can lead into not competitive weight loss (fortunately) but more lots of diet plan chat and what is the best. But here is a nice space for all to share their ups and downs. We're all here for the same reason and it's really nice to have company Smile I'm tentatively doing ok this week, aiming for 2lb off weekly so that's my target (I know it won't always work but it gives me something to aim for). Weekends are my downfall though, roast dinner seconds and Saturday night snacks etc, so I have to really watch out for that!

KinderToMyFutureSelf Well done on your 2lb off, that's absolutely brilliant especially with going away and not having total control over meals etc. Your planning has really paid off, a fun time and good results! Your chocolate pines are doing the trick too Smile

2024fit great result for you too, amazing to be down in the 60's! ⭐

kirinm that sounds like a very organised and scientific approach! Sounds good, let us know how it works out.

I do this and am such a sad individual that I can tell you my calorie deficit since start of November is approximately 65k. I know this as I have a spreadsheet 😅

I have lost around what I “should “ have, a pound or two more . It isn’t linear though, just averages out over the weeks.

Crispsandchocolate4 · 18/01/2024 12:48

Weight is coming off slower than I would like still but a loss is a loss and I have really been loving going to the gym on my lunch breaks. Another lb off this week I do still need to control my eating more but Im getting here and will do my measurements this evening to see if that shows more off.

Can I join you all please? I have a lot of weight to lose. I'm using the NHS app which is calorie counting.
My start weight is 18st 4lb 😯
My initial target is 17st 5lb
I'm due on holiday in May so any loss would be brilliant.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 18/01/2024 17:45

I weigh in on Thursday and would like to join please. Week 2 and I lost half lb this week but don't care cos I lost a whopping 7lbs in week1!! My goal is a loss every week for 2024, how much I don't care. My current short term goal is 10lbs then I want to get below obese BMI. I have struggled my whole life and hit my all-time high the first weigh in, never again.
SW 14st
CW 13st 6.5lbs
TW 10st 10lbs

Henowner · 18/01/2024 19:44

Hi everyone can I join you please? I'm measuring in kg and have finally got down to my pre- Christmas weight:

SW: 77kg
CW: 74kg
GW: 60kg

Would like to be around 55kg ideally but I last weighed that in my late 20s 😂

upwardsonwards · 18/01/2024 20:18

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 16/01/2024 12:34

I'm in this club too - I have a huge amount to lose but I'm only down 1.8kg in the first two weeks despite the numbers saying otherwise.

After long experience I can say that my body basically lags on weight loss by about 6 weeks so I know I just have to keep going.

I found longer fasting worked really well for me previously but also made my hair fall out 😩 so I'm trying to alternate between one meal & two whilst calorie counting this time.

TL:DR I understand & sympathise!

Thank you both for saying this. I’ve lost nothing so far in fact after a good few weeks I’m 0.1 kg up. I’m tracking really properly tracking. I’m exercising. I’m doing IF. But I think I’m the same the weight loss will lag behind the work, I have no choice I must persevere.

Urgh it's so frustrating but we will persevere & succeed!

This feels like my last chance, after more than 3 decades of being overweight/obese I have to fix it. So-
I bought the nutracheck app (I NEVER pay for apps!) & I'm determined to keep logging for the year.
And I am using this thread, I've followed many & read every post but never actually joined one (too embarrassed!!) before.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 19/01/2024 02:34

@Morwenscapacioussleeves do you have access to a good smart scale?
sometimes when the wt doesn't budge you can look at the other parameters and notice hydration levels changing or muscle to fat ratio.
i also like a good fitness watch as it's easy to overestimate the calorie burn of certain activities.

Seaitoverthere · 19/01/2024 08:37

Sympathies to those with sticky scales. It is really frustrating but hopefully things are happening that the scales aren’t showing.
@Morwenscapacioussleeves last time I lost weight I had lost 4.5lbs after 2 weeks so pretty similar to you. A year later 87lbs were gone, it adds up.

@upwardsonwards that sounds tough. Are you taking measurements? Maybe you are losing inches. Have you changed your exercise regime? Sometimes that can stall weight loss apparently and then suddenly it comes off again. I think though if nothing happens in another few weeks it might be sensible to speak to GP and see if they will do bloods just in case anything is going on with your thyroid.

1.4lb off for me this week which I am happy with.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 19/01/2024 09:59

i don't have smart scales @CurlsnSunshinetime4tea that's definitely something to think about thanks.
no fitness watch either but I don't eat back exercise calories so probably not a problem (also only walking at the moment as post flu - when I get back to lifting I know it will mess with the scales & my hunger!)

Gosh @Seaitoverthere that's so inspiring thank you!

kirinm · 19/01/2024 10:00

I think at the beginning of this thread, it was suggested that we say something about how we intended to implement some self care.

I knocked my theee front teeth out when I was in my 20s (due to a seizure not drunkenness) and I've just started on my journey of getting implants. If all goes well, I'll be 3.5 stone down with shiny new teeth by August!

WeirdPookah · 19/01/2024 10:31

I lost 3lbs this week.

17.7lbs down since Jan 1st
59.6lbs down since starting over... this time!

Satincat · 19/01/2024 15:19

kirinm Wow that's a fantastic goal. It'll be so worth it. Good luck!

Hello to all the newcomers! Flowers

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 20/01/2024 16:29

Urgh fucked up
stood next the the wrong cupboard while fed up, exhausted & hungry and inhaled a whole bar of horrible milk chocolate that I didn't want rather than stop & take the 4 steps to a piece of the nice dark chocolate 😩

BUT recorded the calories & I can still eat my planned dinner & only spill over my calories a little (& on average my calories /day are lower than last week)

so fuck up will not become fuck it 😂

Onward!

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 20/01/2024 18:55

@Morwenscapacioussleeves i can relate i've done that myself many times.
currently i'm in the zone and exerting lots of will power and the usual techniques: brushing my teeth, drinking a warm tea, or simply putting myself to bed.
in the whole scheme the difference between dark and light is probably negligible.

Sleeplessinseattle234 · 20/01/2024 19:10

I just wanted to give you guys a reason why and why we keep going.

I started last August at 13.1. This week I am 10.9 ( ugh currently on a plateau )

but. I started this process at a size 16. I went to the shops today and got some Pjs in a size 10!!!! And they fit fine.

I have seen a few comments on this board that loosing a pound a week is hard and not worth the bother. But it really does add up over time. So keep coming back here. Keep plodding through that one pound a week. It is so worth it.

RememberToSmile1980 · 20/01/2024 20:43

@Sleeplessinseattle234 - thank you for your message. It's so hard to stay on track. I'm hoping as I go into the third week that I can abstain from the naughty sweet foods. Slow and steady is the best way. Well done on your loss! Getting to size 10 is amazing!

My improvement is seeing after & not continuing- seeing it before or during is a skill I have not yet acquired!

Late joiner! 45 peri and FAT. Looking at MFP this is the heaviest I had ever been.....

Weight in day is a Monday

SW - 251
CW - 245.7

Obviously a lot to lose but 2 stone by Easter would be amazing. I have no sticking power and struggle massively with being in it for the long haul

Been okay up until now but tonight I have the raging munchies, resisted thus far
