2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

Week 0 91.2
Week 1 92.1 kg gained 0.9kg 😭😭😭

Average calories 1642 per day. Protein 80g. Disappointed but I want to give it a month before I see if there is a problem. I don’t want to drop calories because unfortunately I have a lot to lose and I’m worried that if I drop too soon I’ll have no where to go with plateaus. I have previously suspected insulin resistance. I’m in the gym 4 days and averaged 10300 steps per day. Hopefully a better week this week.

kirinm · 15/01/2024 09:01

I didn't really want to weigh today as I feel heavy but I also know I've got severe DOMS from exercise so there is some water weight. But it also serves to show that I can't be anything but strict with food.

SW: - 15.10
Last week - 15.7
This week - 15.8

Gain of 1lb - total loss of 2.

chalkyc2 · 15/01/2024 09:07

01/01 - 12 st/76.2kg
08/01 - 11 st 11/74.7kg
15/01 - 11 st 9/73.8kg

On track here as usually hope for a kg per week - but the more exciting scale victory is that I'm now 7 stone down since April. Phew. 1.5 stone to go to target (which might now be under review?!).

GiantPigeon · 15/01/2024 09:32

Hi everyone,

I have been in a 500 calorie deficit since 1st January but had faulty scales so don't know my true starting weight.

I am tracking kg/ lbs/ st&lbs/ BMI and "weight to height ratio" for round number milestones to hit.

This week I hit the milestone of 13st 0lbs ✅

SW with new scales 8th Jan - 84.5kg/ 186.3lbs/ 13st 4.29lbs

CW 15th Jan ----- 82.5kg/ 181.9lbs/ 12st 13.9lbs

So I have lost ----- 2.0kg/ 4.4lbs/ 0st 4.39lbs

"Waist to height ratio" has improved (used measuring tape so I have details from 31st)
31/12/23 - 0.6 Further increased health risks
15/01/24 - 0.54 Increased health risks

BMI
08/01/24 - 27.5 (Overweight)
15/01/24 - 26.8 (Overweight)

My next milestone is to get to 180lbs.

Self care: I visited the hairdressers 💇

Best of luck everyone :)

W2 13st 3lb on blood sugar diet now

Satincat · 15/01/2024 10:33

SW 12st 3
CW 11st 11
GW 10st
Loss this week 1lb
Total loss 6lb

Just a pound off this week, which is a bit disappointing, but I have done a lot of micro-snacking this weekend so I shouldn't be surprised.

Always find weeks 2-3 the worst for motivation because progress seems too slow. But the alternative is staying the same weight, or continuing to gain more weight 😩neither of which appeal any more than making the effort now. (giving myself a pep talk here!)

Version4needsabitofwork · 15/01/2024 10:44

I'd like to join - although I'm not aiming for any specific time frame, I do need to lose 4 stones 😭

Menopause, lockdown, depression and long covid all hit me hard. I've been diagnosed with binge eating disorder and I'm on HRT and fluoxitine... I feel better mentally, but my eating is still way out of control and I'm struggling with my joints and fitness as a result.

Long story short - I feel shit. I need to do something and can't buy a quick fix to solve it (last year I tried: expensive gym membership / expensive slimming world membership / expensive therapy / Les Mills). I was trying to displace the responsibity I think. Now I'm skint and have to do this myself!

Version4needsabitofwork · 15/01/2024 10:45

I'm too scared to weigh myself this morning. But I'm more than 14 stone (I'm 5 ft 5)....

shearwater2 · 15/01/2024 10:55

I haven't tracked consistently all week as I went to a funeral and had a couple of days off work - close family friend who I've known nearly all my life. Sad, but it was a lovely send off.

I know I went over with alcohol and calories on a couple of days, the rest of the time I've been sensible and have been tracking and more on plan, particularly with exercise. My running has been very good indeed, better than for years, I can't even remember when I could last do a run without walking and do a sprint finish. I've also not had the cold weather induced asthma that I often get if I try to run at this time of year - even got this when I was much lighter and younger.

I'm getting back to being fully on it again gradually with eating and drinking but will not likely see a loss this week.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 15/01/2024 11:07

Goal 13kg
1st week -1kg
This week -0.8kg
total -1.8kg

frustrated as I'm averaging 1500 a day which (as I am gigantic) puts me a long way past the magic 7000 deficit- happy scale says 0.8 lost but the actual scales over the weekend & today say I'm back at my start point and in my frustration I fell into sugar last night 🤦🏻‍♀️

trying to convince myself that as 1.8 x6 will be over 10kg by Easter it's worth it & trying to ignore the actual scales!

I often take 6 weeks to start losing anyway

Floppy12 · 15/01/2024 11:18

Hi Everyone, I would like to join please. I have been following this thread for a while but never posted.

Started healthy eating beginning of September, I really didnt think I would get past week 2 but I have.

Weight loss started to slow beginning of December so have joined the local council gym.I have been going for 3 weeks and am finding the classes hard, trying a mixture of kettlebells, Pilates and a Zumba type classes.
My right hip is so painful which has really motivated the weight loss, I am so fed up of the pain.
One of the instructors recommended an aqua flexibility and mobility class, so I bit the bullet and bought a new swimming costume and the class was amazing. Mainly exercises revolved around the hips.
My self care will be looking after my hip and feet, bought some foot cream and really trying to generally care for my appearance again.
Good luck to everyone for the forthcoming week.

SW 74.1
C.W 60.5
M.G 57 KG
Height 5FT 1 .
Waist size 39.75 cm which is way over what it should be.

Apprenante · 15/01/2024 13:15

Starting weight 6th Jan was 14st 6.5lbs
Current weight is 13st 13lbs
Loss 7.5 lbs

Very pleased to be back in the 13s.

I struggle to eat enough protein but have discovered Lindahls Kvarg which seems to be a very solid yogurt. 15g protein per pot in those that I've tried and not a huge amount of calories or carbs. MandS do a similar high protein yogurt.

If anyone has other suggestions for increasing protein I'd be very grateful.

WotNoUserName · 15/01/2024 14:14

SW 13st
CW 12st 11lb.

I lost 2lb, so very pleased with that. I didn't track my food, but did try and be more conscious of what I was eating and really upped the exercise.

GiantPigeon · 15/01/2024 14:15

@Apprenante Hi, I also eat protein yoghurts. I get mine from Aldi, they do raspberry, strawberry and peach & passionfruit.

I last had a raspberry one and the macro nutrients are:
9.9g carbs
25g protein
0.9 fat
148 calories

Each yoghurt costs 75p too so it's an economical way of getting protein.

Here is a link to the Aldi range of protein products:
https://groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-GB/Search?keywords=protein&sortBy=DisplayPrice&sortDirection=asc

They also do protein puddings, protein mousse and protein & granola pots too.

Hope this helps :)

Fluffygoon · 15/01/2024 14:36

Re protein - I’m vegetarian so struggle with getting enough protein. My son suggested protein powder ( from supermarkets or online such as PHD diet whey). I add a little milk to 25g to create a mousse, this gives 17 G protein 91 cals. Tastes yummy so is my daily dessert

Apprenante · 15/01/2024 14:43

Thank you very much @GiantPigeon and @Fluffygoon . I'll have a look at the powder and the Aldi products.

Lonestar1988 · 15/01/2024 16:58

Hi everyone,

Can I join please? Had my second child in August and have about 3 to 4 stone to loose in total (not much is baby weight so can't use that excuse) but I feel like it's now time to get myself sorted.

SW: 14stone
CW: 13 stone 11
GW: 10 stone 7

Would be delighted to shift 1 - 2 stone by Easter.

I am tracking calories using MFP and sticking to 500 less a day. Also upping my steps to min 8000 a week day and 12 000 Sat and Sunday.

@Apprenante I discovered LINDAHLs protein puddings, salted caramel. I love them and they feel like a real treat. They have 14g of protein and 105cal (or there abouts)

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 15/01/2024 17:01

SW 166.5
W1 163.2

Happy with that because my jeans are already a tiny bit more comfortable.

Apprenante · 15/01/2024 18:26

Thank you @Lonestar1988 and good luck with losing the 'not baby' weight. My 'baby' is 45 this year so I think mine might not be baby weight either 😉

ChickenChipsandBeans · 15/01/2024 18:38

SW (this thread) 74.4kg
CW 72kg
This week -1.5kg
I'm very happy with that but feel disgusting at the moment as I have eaten so many biscuits today. My first real fall off the wagon. Equal parts disappointment in myself as actually feeling yuk from eating such rubbish. However, I will get back on track tomorrow and try to do a bit extra exercise to make up for it. Forecast torrential rain all day tomorrow here so I'm hoping it's wrong and there will be a chance to get outside to do my walk. Congratulations on the losses everyone.

WinterStar1 · 15/01/2024 19:01

Weighed today and I've lost 2.2kg since my weigh in last week. Happy with that as it now puts me more or less at pre christmas weight. Good luck everyone.

Current Loss: 2.2 kg

OwlsAreMyFav · 15/01/2024 21:36

I would like to join please. I know I am late to the party but I have plenty of wobble and would like to lose 4 stone altogether- 2 stone by Easter would be fantastic 🥰

I have a family wedding in October and I want to be wearing a lot smaller dress... from an 18/20 to a size 12 would be perfect!!

I am starting SW from home tomorrow.

Good luck everyone 😀
