2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

I like the Hairy Dieters books, vol 1 is the best.

There’s 3 of us..

a good day of both exercise and food choices, i'm motivated to be below 160 asap.
tonights dinner was TOO low cal, i subbed julienned zucchini for half the pasta, the meal says it serves four (which i did meticulously) it was 306 calories. no extra parmesan needed, i cooked up some mushrooms to put on top for added color.

Sleeplessinseattle234 · 10/01/2024 09:17

starting weight was -13 stone one
current weight - 10 stone 9.
goal weight is 9stone. The 9 on the scales is so close u can taste it.

twodogsandI · 10/01/2024 09:18

Two pound down this week so 10 stone 11!

Starting weight back on the old thread 12 stone 7

Goal weight 8 stone 7

Doing ok - feels a bit relentless as been doing this since September now. Had a training session this morning but travelling for work from tomorrow which is always difficult as there will be lunches and dinners...

TeenDivided · 10/01/2024 09:23

I only do weigh ins with the GP.
Last 5 months I've lost 3st5lb in total, 18lb in last 3 months but that included Christmas. Next weigh in in 8 weeks and want to be down min 8lb and preferably closer to 12+.

My starting weigh was Xst10lb. So I get milestones at 10lb, 7lb, 3lb and 0lb which is quite motivating.

Doing keto.

Crispsandchocolate4 · 10/01/2024 09:49

Today was my Weigh day and I did think I would of done better as Ive been exercising everyday however it is that time of the month and I do tend to loose more in the second week and any loss is a loss which is good so I need to now let it bring me down!

SW: 12.13
CW: 12.12
GW: 10.7.

Well done to everyone else we can do this!!

kirinm · 10/01/2024 10:20

I've been really hungry this week, not sure why, and so I've basically been eating at maintenance level calories rather than weight loss. Really need to try to make sure I've got a decent calorie deficiency today.

RagzRebooted · 10/01/2024 13:08

I did a 3 mile walk yesterday, not even 10,000 steps apparently but it's more than I've done in a very long time. It was freezing!
Started slightly tracking calories (I'm doing 18:6 fasting but can still overeat in that if I'm not careful).
Had bacon, scrambled egg and tinned tomato on toast for lunch today and yesterday but today I weighed out 10g of butter (it's not a lot!) between my two slices of toast rather than slather it all over and add it to the eggs. Saved nearly 150 calories there (I love butter).

I'm also really hungry. Feel like I'm never full. Trying to up my protein amounts but all I can think about is food. 🙈
I read somewhere when you eat real food not processed you need more? Today I've had some low fat yogurt with honey and banana for breakfast a sachet mocha mid morning and some leftover salmon broccoli and rice for lunch but I'm starving. Trying to just drink more water.

Satincat · 10/01/2024 13:58

Well done to all who have lost some pounds this week! Very good going.

I find it so hard not to eat just over (or just under!) the maintenance calories. I can ruin a perfectly good day of healthy mindful eating, by having something like a handful of nuts, or some toast, or a bowl of cereal because I'm just a bit peckish. I know if I did a decent calorie deficit on a couple of days it would result in a proper loss at the end of the week, but some days are harder than others to stick to. If a forgotten packet of snacks turns up it's really hard to turn it down. "Just a few"...

LulubelleB · 10/01/2024 15:41

Hi, I’ve just found this thread and would love to join. I have barely stopped eating for the past year and exercise has been at an all time low so keen to make changes and feel so much more healthy and more like myself again.
None my clothes fit well and for a variety of reasons I felt really low for quite a long time and didn’t want to buy anything so have ended up wearing leggings that are tight round my tummy and my husband’s T-shirts/ jumpers so something really has to change now!
I signed up for Noom but realised quickly it wasn’t right for me so have just started 16:8 (I’m eating between 9.30-5.30) and dusted off my old Fitbit with the aim of 10k a day. Your posts are really inspiring me!

CW: 11st 8lb
GW: 9st (though not by Easter realistically) absolute ideal weight - 8lb 7st but that’s a fair way off!

cooroocoocoo · 10/01/2024 16:10

Some progress. A tad disappointed that I have not melted away over the week. I am usually a binge eater and I have managed a week without eating a whole pack of chocolate treats. I have eaten (unsalted) nuts instead so it must balance a calorie-wise. At least now I am getting some minerals in instead of palm oil and stabilisers.

SW (2nd Jan) = 74 kg
CW = 73 kg
GW = 60kg

MaxatStMarys · 10/01/2024 19:52

Interesting couple of days. Away with work and managed to avoid the hotel breakfast!! Also had told a colleague I was doing IF and she was hovering next to me and the pastries and reminding me not to eat them - it was just what I needed..

Interestingly we had dirty fries and pizza out last night (in my window) and I had a small amount, but I had terrible reflux last night.. guess my body is getting used to the healthy food! Back to the water and veg / tofu stir fry for dinner tonight.

GoalHitter2024 · 10/01/2024 20:02

I'd like to join please.

I've started Slimming World this week. Seems easy so far so we'll see how it goes. I have a lot to lose but can't bear counting every calorie so SW seems a good fit for me.

SW (8th Jan): 15st 2lbs 😬
GW: 10st ish

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 11/01/2024 01:58

repeat of the same low cal fettuccini alfredo recipe, and repeat of the same exercise (minus a few minutes shoveling light snow).
it's early but i plan to brush my teeth and drink my 2nd liter of water.
i was exactly at this spot 2 years ago sadly, i remain motivated.

KinderToMyFutureSelf · 11/01/2024 06:05

My first weigh day is here - I’ve been reasonably good - key areas … not snacking between meals (unless handful of walnuts or apple) and not eating after my evening meal (been very hard) - allowing myself one chocolate a night as I really can’t throw away the Christmas Chocolate!

Is anyone managing to add some 'self care' or a bit of princessing to their weight loss plans?

I'm keeping up with facial moisturiser but I could do with adding some body lotion as I have dry skin. But I'm always in a rush

Still need to get some exercise in.

afaloren · 11/01/2024 09:38

@RedDoughnut me! I’ve been doing proper skincare twice a day. Last year I was lucky if I slapped some moisturiser on in the morning but so far this year I’m making a real effort.

GiantPigeon · 11/01/2024 10:07

Hey @RedDoughnut, I have a haircut booked for Saturday, I have been trying to attend regularly over the past 6 months or so as I got in a bad habit of letting my hairstyle grow out.

I also have booked a dental checkup for Monday which is very overdue. I suffered medical trauma in 2015 and I've found it very hard to have anyone medical "do" things to me/be in my personal space, although I did force myself to attend regular checkups before covid. I have had therapy about it all but it's still hard and I really need to work hard staying calm.

I did force myself to go to a checkup in January 2022 and dentist was saying about a filling and xray and I never went back as was too scared😣

So yes I'm trying to keep my hairstyle tidy and starting the process of getting up to date with any dental treatment needed. I'd also like to book the hygienist too in the coming weeks.

Hi @RedDoughnut I am prioritising some “princessing” as you are calling it. I find that otherwise I can get in a bit of a punitive mindset about the whole thing but once I keep reminding myself that the whole goal of the exercise is minding myself that makes things easier for me.

SW: 16:7

Kinder I literally did that last night - threw away the remains of the Christmas chocolate. And the (opened and half eaten) packets of nuts, which I love, but I know are going to derail my efforts. Since Monday, due to picking at them, I've only maintained, which could be worse, but it's annoying when I want to be on track to lost 2lb a week. I won't lose 2lb a week if I don't avoid this rubbish.

Leftover stuff hanging around is always going to be too tempting for me. I've told myself that there will always be more chocolate etc in the shops, so it's not like it's now or never - it's just "not now". Not whilst I'm trying to get in shape and do something for my health.

Satincat · 11/01/2024 10:14

(But you sound very controlled with one chocolate a night, that's really good! If only I could stick to one, but I can't Sad)

WeirdPookah · 11/01/2024 10:35

@RedDoughnut I have been using almond oil with a stone roller and facial massage techniques to help clear all the bloating and puffy from eating loads of sugar and stuff in December.

I batch cooked yesterday, had a really good walk into town and back on Tuesday, done cleaning today. Every day I've done a short walk at school pick up time instead of sitting in the car.

Weighing in tomorrow.
