2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

I want to lose around 1.5 stone in the first half of this year, and for the extra thing - I’d like to improve my dental health by brushing my teeth 3 times a day and using my electric toothbrush more.

Just realised I haven’t been brushing my teeth 3 times a day and my new electric toothbrush is still unopened in the box. Must get onto it next week.

No real change on the scale weight, body fat or waist measurements. As most if not all of us have regular minor fluctuations on the scale, I weigh myself every other day in the morning, so I can look more at the overall picture. My weight has been 70-71kg all week. Today it’s 70.7Kg.

I’d really like to get down to 68 by the end of this month and 65kg by end of February. My plan for the rest of January is to continue with my 10K daily steps a day and sticking to my 1350 calorie allowance.

Trying to be patient! Developing healthy habits is so important whether there is a change on the scale or not!

2024fit · 07/01/2024 13:50

I’m also trying not to obsess over weight beyond recording and monitoring progress if that makes sense. Yes I record meals in myfitness pal, weigh myself regularly do short walking exercises through the day, but I’m trying to get past constantly thinking about how my body looks 24/7 and staring critically at my body in the bedroom mirror every morning and night. And also constantly thinking about my next meal 😂how it will taste, how many calories are in it etc.

There are so many other things I could be thinking about. I need to be mindful as it was carelessness that let me put on 4 stone over a few years but there is a balance that I’m trying to find so I don’t tip over into being obsessed.

Lavenderosemary · 07/01/2024 14:17

Today I very much want to eat more, which is the first time since I started 10 days ago. (PMT and working outside in the cold!) I'm going to run with it and eat hot porridge (made with water) and banana when I'm really feeling hungry today and go over my usual calorie count if necessary. The alternate is that I'll eat something less wise!

Spink86 · 07/01/2024 14:57

I weighed myself today as I will be running around like a headless chicken tomorrow! Really pleased to have lost 2lb! I hadn't changed much this week except getting my step count up. Before having my son I'd go on a long walk before work, a shorter one at lunch and another one at the end of the day. These days I'd be lucky to hit 5k. So the aim has been 10k. I've not hit it every day but I'm doing much better than I have in the previous weeks!
This week I'm aiming to prep my lunches instead of eating delicious sandwiches and brownies from a place near work!

I weighed myself this morning, as I use my bf's scales. I've lost 1lb. Not bad considering I didn't track much and ate lots of hanging around Christmas chocolates and biscuits! But at least they are gone now!

Back to college for my DS, so that's a 3 mile walk every day, plus I go swimming with him, and an exercise class I started last year is back after the break. Did a 33 mile bike ride today, and a 20 mile one yesterday.

@Apprenante I'm an oldie too - 67 currently and will be 68 before Easter. I have an underactive thyroid [medicated] so am trying to avoid obvious carbs as I understand it should help. I have also lost 3 stone before and found myself back at square one. If and when I get where I want to be this time I shall pay much more attention to maintaining!

Well we're almost twins! Maybe this time the weight will stay off ........
The thyroid issue obviously makes things more complicated for you. Good luck!

PinkArt · 07/01/2024 21:48

I haven't weighed in here yet but my depressing, but with loads of potential for improvement, stats on Friday were:
Start: 18'7
Loss this week: n/a
Loss overall: n/a
Current: 18'7
I'm currently feeling pretty positive and in a vegetable eating mood.

Lavenderosemary · 07/01/2024 21:50

I tried konjac noodles today. So far, very impressed. I had half a packet (100g) with some veg and a couple of plants kitchen meatballs several hours ago, and I've been totally and completely full since. The noodles are about 3.5 calories for 100g. The water they come in smells yuck, but once rinsed (thoroughly!) the smell mainly goes and they taste of nothing. I liked them, but I understand they're a bit of a marmite thing in general!

Rumdiddly · 07/01/2024 21:59

Well done all. I usually get Gousto ranch week for at least 4 meals. Have switched to green chef which has some really tasty low carb options. Just in case this helps anybody

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 07/01/2024 23:55

hello to @Apprenante and @recklessgran i'm 66 and very accustomed to calorie counting and adding in extra activity.
i'm just not very good at sustaining the effort long term (18+ month type long term) before i find a reason to relapse :( into calorie dense stuff and relaxing.
so far so good, i'm looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in to see if my food choices and increased activity have paid off.

Sybila · 08/01/2024 05:44

morning, weighed in today and I’m 6lb down since my highest weight just after Xmas. TBH I think that was a bit of an anomaly due to bloat but that’s what I weighed so am using it.

my daughter and her family live overseas and have been with us over Christmas which has been amazing. They’ve just gone to the airport so I’ll have to be so careful next few days not to eat my sad feelings. Hence posting.

happy weigh day all

1kg lost since last week. I was 0.4kg lighter yesterday, but a roast dinner later here we are. Still, happy to be losing again.

Morning all, I’m in. Just found the thread but started on the 1st.

I lost two stone in 2022 but spent 2023 putting it back on 🙈

I am doing Fitbit and MyFitnessPal.

I need at least three stone off but would prefer more if I can. No rush but by September would be marvellous.

Daily average calories this week 1379

weight loss 4.5 pounds.

Quite pleased, signs earlier on in the week indicated it would have been more, but then I went away for the weekend on short notice and enjoyed eating out and snacking. Rather than giving up as I didn't stick to my plans, I am acknowledging that I enjoyed my food and weekend and carrying on making an effort to reduce intake this week! Good luck everyone, hope the scales are kind

I knew this would be a slow start as I had a few events last week, back to work today so hoping it will be easier to be disciplined.
We'll done to all those who are losing.

PopJam8 · 08/01/2024 07:21

Squeezed in a little loss at the last minute so not the complete disaster of a 1st week that I was expecting. Still disappointed but trying to focus on the positive habits I'm forming and perhaps I ate more leftover Christmas treats than I admitted to myself... Onwards to week 2!

First weigh in done. 6lb down but mostly water bloat after Christmas I'm sure. Just doing Keto and I always find there is a big drop in the first week of starting.

Same a yesterday, so just 0.4kg (0.88lb) but that's the right direction so I'll take it. Better food this week!

MaxatStMarys · 08/01/2024 07:39

Please may I join? I have been up and down over the years with weight but always balanced with long distance running, but in Sept was diagnosed with a weird growth near my sinuses so haven’t been able to exercise and the weight has gone up and up!!

I started 2024 at my heaviest ever and never want to see those numbers again. I’m mainly using MFP and have finally gone vegetarian and only eating between 12 and 8..

The op to remove the growth in at the end of Jan (I think they are planning on using an Egyptian brain hook) so I want to feel slightly better weight wise before then.

Well done everybody for keeping in there and remaining positive. Just thinking of this thread keeping me accountable helps.

Start weight: 96.6kg
Current weight: 96kg

A reasonably slow start but I've not kept on track very well. 2/7 days for the 10k step target, had a stinking cold didn't help. Will aim to improve again this week.

ToddlerMumma · 08/01/2024 07:42

5lbs off this week which I'm really pleased with but know it's all water & bloat from Christmas. It's given me a head start so now 2lbs a week is realistic
I've done this really hard bootcamp 3 x this week plus no alcohol or eating between meals and going 10k steps per day. I also calorie count everything and sync My Fitness Pal with Fitbit
