2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

I'm still doing my 200 cals 6 x a day of the biggest meals possible (or as close to 6 times a day as reasonable). I'm vegan, so that's helpful as most snacks are not 😁. Trying to eat fairly high protein and to avoid anything sweet as this keep my blood sugars stable and stops me feeling hungry very often.

SW on 27.12 164lb
CW 156.6lb
GW 140lb.

Just plodding on!

TicketyBoo11 · 06/01/2024 12:00

Weigh in tomorrow. On track. Feel a bit bloated but my hormones are all over the place..55 and semi regular periods - ridiculous. Tried HRT for 18 months but could feel my natural cycle fighting to get through in the background and couldn’t be arsed fiddling over and over again with dosages so cane off 4 moths ago to ‘feel my body’ again. Feel ok for it. Almost 1 week into Dry Jan -as a daily drinker that’s big for me 😊 Happy Saturday y’all..

Tiredanddistracted · 06/01/2024 12:06

Well! I weighed in today, so as to make sure that the lack of calorie counting isn't making me gain weight. And I've lost 5 lbs. Slightly surprised, given the amount of nuts, cheese, olive oil and full fat yoghurt I've had. But pleasantly so! I guess cutting out sugar has helped. Plus, just not feeling so hungry between meals, now I'm taking care of the nutrition side of things, so minimal snacking.

Feeling better physically although just started my period, so a bit crampy.

SW as of 1 Jan: 15 St 1 lb
CW: 14 St 10 lb
GW: don't have one atm.

RedDoughnut · 06/01/2024 12:09

@Lavenderosemary

Could you please share some of your meals? I'm vegetarian so I'd be delighted to steal some of your ideas.

Thanks

Back to work yesterday and having lost 2 stone on the last thread, managed to put 5lb back on since 18 December. Happy with that though as had a fab time and ready to crack on for this next challenge.

hodre · 06/01/2024 13:01

I find the weekends hard, but have been relatively good all week. Got the family round for dinner tonight, so trying to be good until dinner. We've almost worked our way through the festive treats and cheeses, they'll all be gone by Monday, so that should help.
I'm weighing on Monday - not expecting much of a loss, will be happy just to have stopped the gains.

kirinm · 06/01/2024 16:41

I've been to the gym and have managed to stay on track so far. I really fancy snacking though!

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 06/01/2024 20:41

I'm reading along but we all still have flu so my exercise is going up the stairs & coughing this week!
Today was the first day I've really eaten properly so I'm trying out nutracheck (usually MFP).

Congratulations to all who are making a great start to the year.

AbundanceofKatherines · 07/01/2024 08:47

I'm in! I took my eye off the ball in 2023 and put on 22lbs - work was full on and took up all my headspace. I was already 14lbs more than my comfortable weight.

2st by Easter will be tough for me, but I'll give it a good go!

lorisparkle · 07/01/2024 09:28

I am still battling the evening snack attacks although I have tried to solve the 'cooking the tea' snack attacks by cutting up fruit and snacking on that. Fingers crossed that when the schools go back and normal routine returns I will find it easier.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 07/01/2024 09:41

I'll join please. I'm 4 stone above my 'perfect weight' but 2 stone above my happy weight so aiming for that. I've been filling my face with sugar and alcohol and feeling rotten for it. Another attempt at reigning that behaviour in starting from today and this time I really hope to establish new habits for the long term.

My son and I are doing a very long walk in May and so that's my goal.

Good luck everyone, looking forward to being part of this thread with you all

TicketyBoo11 · 07/01/2024 09:49

Weigh-in day. 2.2lb loss. Stayed on track all week, no alcohol but not really any exercise as I’m a bit PMT-y and I just can’t be arsed. Just concentrating on eating under my calories and not drinking. Happy Sunday y’all…💕

PopJam8 · 07/01/2024 10:19

👋 Hello! I've been silently watching but decided to join in and own any progress (or lack of) that I have. Hopefully that will help keep motivation going.

I weighed in on 1st Jan so sticking with Monday as official weigh day. Caved and checked the scales this morning and found I'd stayed the same so far 😔 disappointed as I've been making the mammoth effort (for me anyway!) to drink at least 2 litres of water each day, snacked less and not had alcohol. Hopefully just a slow start 🤞lots of housework to do today to try and eek out at least a tiny loss 😂

SW: 17st 8lbs
Easter Target: 15st 8lbs

LosingMyPumpkins · 07/01/2024 10:30

I was really "good" this week (tracking, exercise etc.) and gained 0.2 kg (or 0.44 lbs).

That could just be a bit of bloat or waterweight. I´m therefore telling myself that it´s still going in the right direction (well, hopefully...)

KinderToMyFutureSelf · 07/01/2024 10:43

I've been in the right mindset, and although not done too much exercise yet, I've not snacked between meals and not eaten after my evening meal (which is so hard!!). I'm using HappyScales after learning about it here and chose Thursdays as my weigh in day - first Thursday had lost 1lb (obviously water!) so will need to wait until next Thursday for first proper weigh in. Good luck everyone!

Apprenante · 07/01/2024 11:51

Late to the thread.
I might be the oldest at 69 and will be 70 before Easter - a lifetime of weighing and measuring.
I lost about 3 stone last year but took my eye off the ball completely and since July have put it almost all back on.

So starting weight ---- 14 stone 6.5lbs
Goal weight - not even thinking about it

I'll calorie count with MFP which works fine for me.

kirinm · 07/01/2024 11:58

Well I started the day fairly positively. Went to the gym only to find it closed and rather than just go home, drop my stuff off I went to a Greggs!

I did also do a walk and will try and see if I can go to the gym later but in calorie counting and though I've eaten outside my normal window, I won't let my error this morning ruin the day 🤞🏻🤞🏻

recklessgran · 07/01/2024 12:01

Doing O.K. here. I'm pleased that I've kept away from bread carb crack and managed to stay low carb in general. The only problem is that I've been eating chocolates left over from Christmas - they're everywhere! Today they're going out of sight and my skinny DH who can eat whatever he likes can retrieve them from their hiding place if he wants them! Otherwise, I'm expecting a loss tomorrow on the first weigh day of the year. I know it will be mainly water weight but even so I'm hoping for an encouraging start. Great to see so many on here and hope everyone's doing O.K.

recklessgran · 07/01/2024 12:06

@Apprenante I'm an oldie too - 67 currently and will be 68 before Easter. I have an underactive thyroid [medicated] so am trying to avoid obvious carbs as I understand it should help. I have also lost 3 stone before and found myself back at square one. If and when I get where I want to be this time I shall pay much more attention to maintaining!

upwardsonwards · 07/01/2024 12:14

Weigh in day 1 91.2kg
GW 6 weeks. 86kg
GW 16 weeks 80 kg
Happy GW 26 weeks 75kg 16 kg drop

Pie in the sky/wishful thinking/ideal GW 67kg one year. 24kg drop

CouldYouReallyBeArsed · 07/01/2024 12:36

I weighed in today and have lost 1.6lb. I need to reduce my cholesterol but I'm wary of a low fat diet given my addiction to sugar, so I'm cutting down on crappy junk food in general and seeing where that leads.

Satincat · 07/01/2024 12:49

Hello to all new ones to the thread!

Sounds like lots of good progress is being made by lots of posters! Well done to anyone who's had losses on the scales already, and to those who have made changes even if it hasn't shown on the scales (yet). Even small effort is a step in the right direction. Even just showing up here on the thread is making an effort, so well done.

Doing ok myself. Have (tentatively) broken the first hurdle of uncontrolled snacking in the evenings. It became a habit and after a few days of really trying not to do it, I don't feel quite as much like doing it. Hopefully that sticks. I really really want to face the spring looking and feeling better, instead of a bit rubbish all round. Weigh-in is on Tuesday and if I don't break it all, I should ideally have done quite well due to getting rid of the water retention and immediate bloating. Sometimes the first week loss can be amazing, it's keeping going in weeks 2 and 3 when things slow down that can be hard.

RagzRebooted · 07/01/2024 12:58

Finally positive movement on the scales this morning after creeping up all week, had dropped down a kg today, which makes it 0.4kg lost. Fingers crossed it holds for tomorrow!
I've been sticking to my eating window and no alcohol, so I'm calling it a success and next week I'll actually eat better.

Mywhoopdeedoo · 07/01/2024 13:06

Finally got batteries for my scales - 12st 2, ideally if like to be 10 but first goal is 11
