Hi,

Just got back from holiday and thread was full. Couldn't see a new one 😞 let me know if there is one. Hope everyone is doing well.

Oh no that will be me out of this then as I can’t do needles (and it has to be stored in the fridge doesn’t it?) and I won’t be going to the doctors. Panicking as I don’t want to go back to the weight I was and I’m not sure if I could do it without Rybelsus, the food chatter that used to go on and has since stopped has been a god send!! 😨

BangingOn · 25/04/2024 18:48

I was surprised that Rightangled did this now when everyone else reduced their availability last summer. I haven’t seen anything in a while on when Rybelsus supply is due to get better, maybe if more people move to injections it will ease sooner?

There are other websites with Rybelsus listed, including Pill Doctor, but they are expensive and I haven’t tried to order to see whether they would actually supply.

I have been assured that this needle is not as scary as it sounds and I will barely feel it. I am a wuss on needles so I am cynical, but will report back.

Funnyhat · 25/04/2024 19:00

So I don't know if you guys remember but a few months ago I had some trouble with rightangled as they said they can't prescribe it to me unless speaking with my GP.

Anyway I switched to chequp and they charge less for rybelsus and are super helpful, and they don't inform your GP either.

Having said that I find rybelsus less and less effective and am also considering switching to injections but really don't want my husband to find out, so not sure how discreet, I can be. Also I didn't get any side effects on rybelsus so am terrified to get some.

BangingOn · 25/04/2024 21:26

I haven’t heard of them @Funnyhat thanks for recommending. If the injections don’t work I will give them a go.

RedRum27 · 26/04/2024 10:01

@SilkySuky thats brilliant well done! How long have you been on the tablets?

Dinosaurpoo · 26/04/2024 10:46

That’s interesting about rightangled! I’ve not heard from them yet. But don’t tend to answer calls from unknown numbers either.
I don’t think I’ll do the injections. The people that I know who’ve tried them have had really bad side effects.
move got about another 1.5 stones to go. Probably a month left of the tablets. Will need to make the most of it I think and be extra careful to maximise their effectiveness. I do fo d I can still overeat on them - they just make it easier not to.

hope everyone is having a lovey Friday

BangingOn · 26/04/2024 13:12

@Dinosaurpoo my call came from an 0204 number I think, I don’t usually answer but had a hunch it would be them.

My injection is arriving this afternoon, I haven’t taken my tablet today so wil start straight away.

BangingOn · 26/04/2024 14:33

Well, my Mounjaro arrived today and despite us agreeing 5mg they have actually sent 2.5. It’s my fault for not checking my emails yesterday as that is what the order confirmation said and what they have charged me for.

I have gone ahead with the 2.5 as they did say that many people never need to move up to a higher dose and this way I know that if I have side effects then it is the drug, not the dose.

I am pleased to say that the injection was absolutely fine. I hate needles and honestly didn’t feel it at all, I was really surprised and very relieved.

Londonlady365 · 26/04/2024 16:40

The need to fridge would be an issue for me and why i initally did tablets. I travel too much. I think it's a rightangled thing. Ajhill seem to have good stock but in their last email mentioned a monthly quota so delays at the end of the month. They are £560 for 2 months of 14mg and usually £20 discount. I don't know how that compares with others.

Funnyhat · 26/04/2024 17:35

@Londonlady365 I'm the same much prefer the tablets but they don't seem to be doing anything for me, and I've got about 15lbs to lose.

@BangingOn please let me know how you get on with the injections, you might convince me to take the plunge.

SilkySuky · 26/04/2024 17:44

@RedRum27 I've been on them for just over 13 months, but have been stuck on a plateau since October 23, I would like to lose 7-10 more kilos but didn't mind the plateau too much as it's given me a chance to get used to a smaller me, if that makes sense.

The saggy skin and hair loss was starting to be a worry as well, and I'm taking lots of collagen and biotin to attempt to combat both problems.

On all the weight loss shows I still watch like 600lb life etc, the advice is that the skin does recover a bit in about 18 months after weight loss, so I'm hanging on to that hope!

BangingOn · 26/04/2024 18:06

I was paying £199ish with Rightangled and they often had discount codes. The keeping it in the fridge isn’t ideal and I travel weekdays with work, but will inject every Friday evening and there is a few days tolerance either way on the weekly dose if needed.

Will keep you posted, hopefully this will take me down another stone and then Rybelsus will be back in stock for me to maintain on.

JaffacakeJanine · 27/04/2024 00:19

After recommending rightangled, also got an email about moving me onto Wegovy / Mounjaro - I'm thinking of taking the plunge to Mounjaro, due to it addressing more areas of weight loss, but will probably finish out my 1.5 month supply of Rybelsus first. My reasoning is my weight loss is very slow and steady, not necessarily a bad thing but it does seem to be crawling at the moment!

@BangingOn it might be a blessing that you have the lower medication, as I've heard the 14mg Rybelsus is arguably about the same as the lowest level injections, or at least the mid level.

I am preparing my partner and myself for potentially a bit of a bumpy ride in the switch, as I was quite sensitive with Rybelsus.

RedRum27 · 27/04/2024 01:15

I think slow and steady is fine. I see the tablets more as an enabler to weight loss rather than a quick fix. Interesting reading that thread on the chat forum about people on weight loss drugs and some of the misconceptions on there. Despite the tablets I still exercise and have to monitor what I eat. I am conscious and do have that worry of gaining it all back when I stop taking the tablets. But if it’s been slow and steady, hopefully it’s less likely.

BangingOn · 27/04/2024 09:09

@JaffacakeJanine Rightangled did say that 2.5 should be enough, it was more me pushing because I’m so fed up of only losing 1-2lbs a month.

I am actually quite enjoying being able to have a cup of tea as soon as I am awake rather than taking the tablets and waiting, so maybe the injection will suit me better after all. No side effects so far, but I am not sure how quickly I should expect to see any when switching.

QueenOfHiraeth · 27/04/2024 18:27

@JaffacakeJanine When injections first became unavailable last year, GP surgeries were sent guidance on switching diabetics to Rybelsus.
That guidance said 0.25mg Ozempic = 3mg Rybelsus, 0.5mg = 7mg, and 1mg = 14mg but there are higher risks of GI upset with the oral tablets so patients on 1mg Ozempic were switched to 7mg tabs then stepped up to 14mg if they tolerated it.
There is a much closer relationship between the doses than you heard

BangingOn · 27/04/2024 20:49

@QueenOfHiraeth I think that is true of Ozempic but Mounjaro is a different drug and seems to be more effective at lower doses.

I know it’s only been one day and this might well all be in my head, but I am feeling like I did right at the start of 14mg Rybelsus and can hardly manage food at all.

Sorry, I misread and thought we were talking about Ozempic!

Sorry, I misread and thought we were talking about Ozempic!

I had no idea Ozempic and Mounjaro were different until 48 hours ago!

JaffacakeJanine · 28/04/2024 00:16

@QueenOfHiraeth my apologies, I think I got a tad mixed up in that Rybelsus doesn't go as high as Wegovy/Ozempic - Rybelsus caps out equivalent of ~1mg, but on Wegovy the highest dose is a whopping 2.4mg! I feel like I'd be sick as a dog on the equivalent ~35mg on Rybelsus! Hence why I am planning to proceed with caution.

@BangingOn the morning wait (and for me, nausea as I feel sick when I'm hungry now 🥲) is the worst part for me on Rybelsus, so that does sound quite a relief! I can imagine it feels more effective than a higher dose of Rybelsus due to the additional parts of the drug addressing separate sources of hunger. Intrigued to see how it carries on for you!

JaffacakeJanine · 28/04/2024 00:22

@RedRum27 missed the thread on the main chat about weight loss drugs. I generally tend to ignore discussions as it's very easy to get on your high horse if you don't struggle to lose weight.

I think society sees a failure to lose weight the 'right' way as a moral failure or weakness, not the more likely answer - there are hormonal differences between different humans which dictate our hunger levels in wildly different ways. I hope the stigma lifts soon.

Feels like, as a person stuck in a larger body with years of yo-yo dieting, history of eating disorders etc, it's extremely hard to win. A drug comes along which finally, /finally/ makes me feel normal in regards to controlling that hunger, and now I'm wrong in seeking that too 🙃

RedRum27 · 28/04/2024 04:45

@JaffacakeJanine I agree and unfortunately there was evidence of that ignorance and stigma on that thread. Plenty of people defending its use for good reason, making similar points you made. If everybody could eat the same and it affect them the same there would be no such thing as needing to lose weight would there? Or an obesity problem in the country ha.

I’m just about to finish 1 month on the 14mg and have found it ok. Slow and steady wins the race but not too slowly as it’s quite expensive! 🙃

I’m pleased its having the desired effect for many people and giving them hope.

BangingOn · 28/04/2024 08:09

I see Rylebsus as medication to treat a health issue like any other drug. The health issue is my weight caused by my dysfunctional relationship with food. The judgement from people who don’t have similar difficulties really frustrates me.

Cjgdjkf · 28/04/2024 08:51

@RedRum27 and @JaffacakeJanine where is this other thread you are talking about please?

@BangingOn good luck with the Jab, certainly sounds like it’s working for you so far!
