I have two stone to lose and my eating is out of control again. Always grazing. Hate the feeling of being a little bit hungry. I feel disgusting but I have to do something. I have a 1.5 year old child and I still haven’t lost the baby weight. I feel like I have no excuse now, I can’t believe she will be 2 next year and I’m still carrying this baby weight.

any tips on staying in a calorie deficit?

I’ll join you, I started today - believe me just being sensible today is a huge achievement…I’ve 4 stone to lose and have been eating out of control for the last year. Mid forties and I’m just starving and tired all the time. But every day I am low due to my weight. Tomorrow is day 2 of rest of my life. What are you planning to try? I think it’s just determination and it being the right time for you. You can do it! We all can.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 15/10/2023 18:54

I will join you too. I have lost 8lbs already since the beginning of September but I have two stones to lose.
I have been diagnosed with pre diabetes and I am on the NHS approved diet Second Nature.

So I have an incentive to lose weight!

But it would be great to have some support on here

ColinRobinsonsFart · 15/10/2023 18:55

....and I am still trying to lose my baby weight...

..... my baby is in her mid 30s!!! 😳🤣

TogetherWeLearn · 15/10/2023 19:04

Me! Doing intermittent fasting and cutting down on booze. Been doing it since start of Sept. Lost 6lbs but when I do have booze /night out I then tend to eat carbs and go back up 2lbs. It’s slow going and pretty boring being virtuous but by Christmas should be a few more lbs down. On the plus side when I pig out now I really feel worse for it whereas I’d got into the habit of regularly overeating before & always feeling ‘full’.

friedandfrazzled · 15/10/2023 19:05

Well done for starting today @MrsHedgewitch! I’m going to try and cut out snacking, or at least replace with berries/high protein snacks or something low cal. I’ve creeped up to having carbs with every meal again so try to limit carbs where I can. My problem is I love bread and pasta. 😩

@ColinRobinsonsFart well done for losing 8lb! What is the second nature diet?

What type of IF are you doing? How are you finding it?

I'll join you!

I've been trying to lose about a stone and a half for years, I lose half a stone and then gain it again.

Over the summer I got up to my highest weight, have lost about 4lb since then by drinking less alcohol, snacking less, and running more. But I had a cold last week and did no exercise, and my appetite was out of control! I'm trying to rein it back in this week.

TogetherWeLearn · 15/10/2023 19:15

Not eating before lunchtime and then stopping by 7.30pm so it’s cutting out breakfast and late night snacks/ bag of crisps /glass of wine calories. Generally that’s been easy to fit into life as it means I eat dinner normally with the family. I’ve also tried to buy less of the household snacks that I find hard to resist eg buy biscuits the others like but I’m not fussed about.

I’m fine when I’m at home it’s when I try to have a social life that things unravel. So much easier to put it back on that take it off! Which is why the country is not full of skinny people.

Nothingoriginalhere · 15/10/2023 19:20

I’ll join too if I may,
we returned from holiday in Spain yesterday so had a sensible day today. Will weigh in the morning but have at least 3 stones to lose.
I will be calorie counting and upping my exercise ( not difficult from bugger all)
I have ordered a treadmill which arrives on Friday!

strawberry2017 · 15/10/2023 19:29

I would like to join. I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I have been comfort eating for to long and I am miserable.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 15/10/2023 19:58

@friedandfrazzled

This is it

www.secondnature.io/guides/nutrition/nhs-trusted-meal-plan

It's an app with a handbook and a recipe book - it also comes with a set of Bluetooth scales to weigh yourself. I get it free because of my diagnosis.
I will photograph and post some more info tomorrow - I am tucked up in bed...

Hi, can I also join you! I am a shortie who has around 3 stone to lose. Early 40's, have tried earlier on in June, whereby I lost nearly a stone. However, summer was busy and I became complacent. I just feel down about it, especially when I see how my clothes look! I'm starting today! Will be cutting out rice, bread and pasta. If having bread it will be wholemeal. I can't do low carb totally as I feel light headed and ill! Also to stop with mindless snacking on chocolate and sweet stuff! Will weigh in this morning and track what I'm eating. I'm hoping for intermittent fasting loosely and checking my calories daily. I will write down everything I eat - this has worked before, just need to stay motivated.

friedandfrazzled · 16/10/2023 07:06

Yay to everyone joining!
I weighed myself this morning which was really tough as I avoid it normally. I feel bad for letting it get to this point and embarrassed but today I’m doing something about it!!

MrsHedgewitch · 16/10/2023 07:28

@friedandfrazzled well done for getting on the scales, it sounds simple but it can be so hard. I wish I hadn’t been avoiding them for so long. Hope you have a good choice day.
I found yesterday during the day fairly easy but wanted to eat in the evening. I didn’t though so very pleased.
Today’s plan is a fast 800 shake, a protein bar, and some bean & vegetable soup. Not great nutrition wise but I have them in and right now I need to focus on whatever works to just stop the overeating.

Good morning
I weighed myself this morning

For breakfast I had no sugar Museli with milk and banana

Lunch will be salad, tuna and a piece of wholemeal sour dough bread

Tea will be chicken, veg and butter bean soup ( home made)

The Second Nature diet is based on lower carb - but the carbs you eat are complex. I have swapped white carbs for wholemeal or brown . Eg rice, pasta and noodles.

We grew ( by mistake) some 'mashed potato squash' on our allotment so I have been using that instead of potatoes.

The whole idea is to not strain my pancreas which is obviously not happy as well as losing weight.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 16/10/2023 12:57

The diet encourages you to eat full fat foods but to have a balanced approach. Avoiding ultra processed foods is key. Below is info on how large the portions should be of carbs veg etc.

friedandfrazzled · 16/10/2023 14:06

@ColinRobinsonsFart that looks really interesting.

going okay so far today! I’ve had coffee, porridge, small amount of Edam cheese wrapped in salami, and some sugar snap peas, and have some strawberries on hand at work. Dinner tonight is chicken and corn on the cob.

Im trying to do this balanced so cutting back the carbs where I can but keeping what I enjoy like cheeee normally I would have had the cheese and salami in a baguette.

Cooked spaghetti bolognese for everyone, to be honest I’m not actually hungry but it was hard to just dish up for others and sit with a cup of herbal tea myself. I’m very motivated right now, I just looked back through my messages with DP and last year every other day or so he’s call me sexy….and this year he’s called me it twice. Total. It’s definitely not another woman or not wanting to be with me, but if he isn’t thinking I’m sexy he obviously won’t be writing it will he. I’ve piled on stones. My own stupid fault.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 16/10/2023 19:02

This was tea tonight.
I pressure cooked a whole chicken. Used the stock to cook leeks, mushrooms, carrots and swede in pressure cooker. Then green beans and butter beans added and cooked until done. Garlic herbs etc added at beginning. Pulled off some chicken and added to the stew/soup. ( left chicken will be used throughout the week)
Fed two of us - DH had some wholemeal sourdough bread with it.

Starting tomorrow, again. Who’s with me?

Good luck op!!
I started 6 weeks ago and have lost one and a half stone. I was sick of seeing photos of myself looking huge. I download the NHS weight loss app and it's worked a treat. I usually have to do slimming world or weight watchers to shift any proper weight but couldn't face the thought of having to go back to a group and waste all that money. This app has worked really well for me, it really makes you think about what you eat as well as your portion sizes as it's counting calories and logging your food. The first 2 weeks were really tough as I'm a grazer too and it was the habit of eating and snacking that I struggled to get out of. I feel so much better for it. I'm half way to where I want to be.
