I have two stone to lose and my eating is out of control again. Always grazing. Hate the feeling of being a little bit hungry. I feel disgusting but I have to do something. I have a 1.5 year old child and I still haven’t lost the baby weight. I feel like I have no excuse now, I can’t believe she will be 2 next year and I’m still carrying this baby weight.

any tips on staying in a calorie deficit?

All is well at in the land of Fart.

Yesterday was a good day diet-wise.

My husband says my waistline is shrinking - he says it feels different when he puts his arms round me

MrsHedgewitch · 17/10/2023 08:58

@ColinRobinsonsFart that’s a lovely change ☺️. Your soup looked gorgeous yesterday, I’ll definitely be doing a similar one later in week. I’m cooking spiced carrot soup today, the whole family wolfs it down with oatcakes but I’ll save some portions for me later in week.

@MrsHedgewitch - I do love soup! It makes the colder days worth it.
And freezing portions makes sense - I have lots of 'Colin portion sized' bags of soup in the freezer.

It's only DH and I at home now - our kids are grown ups. I have spent over 30 yrs of my life making food for a large family and I find it difficult to cook smaller meals. So i freeze what is left!

Can i join you? I think I join one of these threads about four times a year but I really need to actually be accountable.

I hear you! My youngest is 19 months and I still have 2.5st to lose! I managed to lose a stone at the beginning of the summer but I've stalled since then and lost nothing over the past 3 months. I'm starting CrossFit next week, 2 classes a week. I'm hoping that helps kickstart things again. I REALLY need to shift this weight as it's genuinely depressing me. As far as diet is concerned, I'm cutting out all snacks and increasing my protein intake.

This was tea tonight.
I pressure cooked a whole chicken. Used the stock to cook leeks, mushrooms, carrots and swede in pressure cooker. Then green beans and butter beans added and cooked until done. Garlic herbs etc added at beginning. Pulled off some chicken and added to the stew/soup. ( left chicken will be used throughout the week)
Fed two of us - DH had some wholemeal sourdough bread with it.

That looks amazing!

Good luck op!!
I started 6 weeks ago and have lost one and a half stone. I was sick of seeing photos of myself looking huge. I download the NHS weight loss app and it's worked a treat. I usually have to do slimming world or weight watchers to shift any proper weight but couldn't face the thought of having to go back to a group and waste all that money. This app has worked really well for me, it really makes you think about what you eat as well as your portion sizes as it's counting calories and logging your food. The first 2 weeks were really tough as I'm a grazer too and it was the habit of eating and snacking that I struggled to get out of. I feel so much better for it. I'm half way to where I want to be.

That’s amazing well done! I’ll take a look at that app as well. Keep going!

Good luck!! I’m trying to cut out all snacks as well or at least replace with something high in protein. The exercise will be good! I’ve started doing classes again too twice a week, spin and body pump. Just something!

Well today is going to be a test - taking children out to our favourite cafe as a holiday treat, where I’d normally have amazing fish and chips. Think I just have to be super strict and stick with a herbal tea, maybe some sparkling water.
I do know from when I lost lots of weight a decade ago that it doesn’t take long to start to enjoy my being ‘in control’ rather than out of control so looking forward to feeling better about myself very soon.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 17/10/2023 19:44

@MrsHedgewitch

How did your trip out go? Did you manage to stick to your plan?

MrsHedgewitch · 17/10/2023 20:33

@ColinRobinsonsFart I did, pretty proud of myself. We were out for hours and I just had black tea and sparkling water. My teens cooked a huge dish of enchiladas tonight and I just put leftovers in the fridge - managed not to have any of that either so quite pleased.

How’s your day gone?

ColinRobinsonsFart · 17/10/2023 20:47

@MrsHedgewitch - I have been at my computer today - lesson planning. So that always has me hungry!

I roasted some chickpeas to snack on... they were a bit 'meh' and gave me a very dry mouth. I think I will stick with making hummus.

Lunch was a chicken salad
Tea was home made chicken curry and brown rice

Spudlover · 17/10/2023 21:00

Can I join in? I have been totally shit all year as it was my 50th and I made it count. I spent half the year on holiday and the other half saying fuck it. So I have 2 and a half stone to lose and I totally deserve it. I have managed to gain a stone this year.

I am currently doing Noom as they gave me a really cheap deal. I like some of it but the food logger is crap. No real nutritional info and you can’t really plan.

As well as counting calories I am trying to cut down on booze and reduce carbs.

Good luck everyone!

ColinRobinsonsFart · 17/10/2023 21:09

@Spudlover - come on in!

MrsHedgewitch · 17/10/2023 22:35

Hi @Spudlover love the name!

@ColinRobinsonsFart you maybe roasted them slightly too much? I’ve had them with paprika and slightly salted before and they were quite moorish - a friend’s children were here when I did them and all scoffed loads. I made nasturtium houmous this year, that was tasty and seriously green!

Nothingoriginalhere · 18/10/2023 05:53

I’ve had 2 good days, logging everything I ate, walked with a friend, still motivated.
todays plan is leftover spag Bol at lunch ( fully homemade) and then a walk again after work. ( although got a massive flu/covid clinic) so will be tired.
I did weigh myself on Monday morning and def 3 stone to lose, as I’m 51 I’m expecting it to be slower than some of you after many years of constantly dieting/ feasting but I did used to be a runner which massively helped hence ordering the treadmill - I stopped running when I got bilateral Achilles tendinitis so will see if I can at least get to a 5k using couch to 5k and walk on it over winter/ bad weather days. I am putting it in the family room which is never used any more as kids are grown up so I can watch tv whilst using it!
I am trying not to weigh myself until next Monday morning instead of my usual daily weighing and then getting demotivated!

RememberToSmile1980 · 18/10/2023 05:56

I've done fairly ok since Monday. Trying not to snack and stop eating around 7pm if I can. Need to get through at least two weeks to try and ensure it's a habit!

TogetherWeLearn · 18/10/2023 08:04

Other than overdoing it on sourdough one lunchtime (simply can’t buy things I can’t resist) doing ok with no night time snacks or booze. Weather change has meant I’ve not exercised, I must just wrap up and get out there!

ColinRobinsonsFart · 18/10/2023 12:31

Today is another computer day 🥺

I made goats cheese pea and basil frittata for lunch. I had salad with mine, the man had chips.

He is working a late shift so I am home alone - I will have another piece of the frittata for tea.

MrsHedgewitch · 18/10/2023 13:38

That looks very tasty @ColinRobinsonsFart ! Making me hungry now…only 19 hours till I eat again lol

Spudlover · 18/10/2023 19:08

Thanks for the welcome!

@Nothingoriginalhere I have a treadmill in my garage, I use it all the time so I hope you like yours. I do two 5ks a week, and 2 or 3 weights/circuits classes usually. I have bad lungs so I exercise a lot to keep them healthy, unfortunately still manage to overeat 🙄

Decent day here so far. Butternut squash with turkey mince and veg for dinner which feels nice and autumnal!

MrsHedgewitch · 18/10/2023 19:48

I’m very tempted by a treadmill, it would have to go in my bedroom though.
Today has been good, went out for a tea party with kids but just had tea. Drank plenty of electrolytes. Looking forward to food tomorrow but don’t actually feel hungry just cold and bored really lol.

friedandfrazzled · 18/10/2023 20:23

Another alright day for me, two white coffees, tomato soup with one slice of bread. I had some roast chicken again with vegetables but had a few potatoes.
no snacks. Not amazing but it’s far less than what I used to eat so I’ll take that for now
