Not just about weight loss but thought this might be the best place to post the thread. I've just signed up and should be starting in November, wondering if anyone else is and wants to share experiences?

I am! @thinkofablinkingnamewoman is as well I think?

I have listened to several of the podcasts and read Food For Thought and I am keen to start making some changes but then I do not want to change too much before I start doing it.

I am so desperate to start, I signed up at the start of September and must have just missed getting an October start date as the webpage said ‘sign up now to start in October’ when I first started thinking seriously about signing up for it.

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 30/09/2023 17:53

I am indeed and it would be great to link a few of us up. I just want to get going now! Am reading the Ultra Processed People book which is quite an eye opener.

I haven't signed up but I'm following their insta, trying to eat 30 different plants a week (have been for couple of months) and have cut right down on sugar/carbs...so if anyone has recipes to share I'm in 😊

alloutofcareunits · 01/10/2023 00:34

Great, I'm not alone then 😊 I haven't read up on the app or listened to any podcasts yet but will before my kit alleges, hopefully for November start. My SIL had been doing it since May and loves it, she feels much more energetic and healthy, she's also lost 8 pounds. That isn't a lot I know but she says she feels like it hasn't been an effort because she isn't denying herself anything, just limiting and being more considered in her choices.

I am desperate to lose some weight round my middle. I weighed myself the other day and I am much heavier than I thought I was!!! I have been making small changes and reducing portion sizes and I have lost 4lb in the last couple of months that seems to be staying off. I know it’s not much but it’s in the right direction!

Greenthread · 09/10/2023 20:27

I wonder when we will get our stuff. I would’ve liked an update of when I will get the cookies etc.

alloutofcareunits · 10/10/2023 12:16

I had an email last week stating they're 'preparing my order' probably just so people don't lose interest as the initial payment has been made. My DH has also signed up and been given December as his start time. It'll be interesting to see how our scores differ, he's not at all overweight and is very slim but knows sugar affects his psoriasis so wants to see how controlling it affects that. Hopefully we'll receive something soon @Greenthread

@Greenthread have you heard anything yet? I got an email around 12th Oct saying they were getting things ready but nothing since, I was hoping it would be here by next week

Im due to start in November & had an email this week saying my kit will be sent next week. I've started reading the app but not listened to any podcasts yet. Really looking forward to starting

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 27/10/2023 11:26

I also had an email yesterday re despatch. I've had to delay it a week as we're away but am really looking forward to getting started!

Greenthread · 28/10/2023 11:58

I had an email saying my kit will be dispatched next week. I’m hoping it comes by Friday and then I can eat the cookies at the weekend.

alloutofcareunits · 28/10/2023 23:17

Thanks everyone, no email for me yet but hopefully I'll hear something soon

Had an email this morning saying the kit's been despatched & giving some advice on the first couple of days.........

alloutofcareunits · 01/11/2023 17:42

@Foib that's great, I've been checking my emails all day 😂 when did you sign up if you don't mind me asking? I signed up on 29.09 I've messaged and they said it'll be early November, I'm VERY impatient

@alloutofcareunits i signed up on 9th September so a few weeks before you. The parcels with DPD now & i keep checking for a delivery time!! I probably won't be able to start until Sunday because the email says there's so much to do that you need to have a clear day. Hope your email arrives soon

alloutofcareunits · 02/11/2023 08:55

@Foib that was a couple of weeks before me so maybe mine will take a little longer, I just want to get started! Good luck

I'm re-starting in November...

I tested at the start of August and got my results (BS 74 Good, BF 66 Good, MB 75 excellent). The results aren't just based on the tests it would seem - family history and your BMI seem to affect it (well I assume - as I had no fat in my blood after two hours yet got a score of 66).

I lost 4 lbs in August by adopting the glucose goddess/revolution hacks (which ZOE definitely supports) and cutting down on wine (an issue). I lost another 4 lbs in September by doing (to some extent at least) ZOE, and still moderating the wine. October was not great - far too much wine and got disillusioned with ZOE (simply because of app glitches and omissions - the vast majority of the time it is fine) and went back to my old ways. I gained 4 lbs.

I've signed up for a year, hate the way I feel in comparison this month - so back to making an effort with it!

My kit arrived today & I set up the starting day, then realised that I had other appointments booked on that day so just had to rearrange these to make sure I can do the food & blood tests on time! Anyway Ive started answering all the health questions on the app & ready to go next week. Not sure about the lunchtime cookies though, they are very bright turquoise 😂

HandShoe · 11/11/2023 16:23

Got my kit this morning - had planned to wait until next weekend to start but having looked at the calendar I've decided its best to start tomorrow. Messes up my exercise schedule for the week but it will whenever I do it so now getting stuff ready. About to attach the blood sugar sensor..

alloutofcareunits · 14/11/2023 11:13

@HandShoe how did I'd go? Mine should be delivered today so I will start either Saturday or Sunday, I'll be eating out on Saturday night, not sure if that would affect anything? If it does I'll start on Sunday but if not the. Saturday as I'm keen to get going!

It went well - I think you'd be fine for Saturday if its just that you're going out in the evening. It's worth looking at all the instructions well in advance. To give you an idea of how it'll impact your day - supposing you do choose Saturday as your start day -

Friday

  • apply Blood Sugar Sensor, and have at least 8 hours fast overnight

Saturday

  • Take stool sample (your schedule rather than their's 💩)
  • Breakfast 'Cookies' and fast for 4 hours also doing no strenuous exercise
  • Lunch 'Cookies' and fast for 2 hours also doing no strenuous exercise.
  • Blood test straight away after the 2 hours fast. Worth setting up 10-15 mins before hand to read the instructions and soak your hands in hot water etc..
  • Post your samples as soon as you can

So I had breakfast at 8am and had done all the required steps by mid-afternoon. And you don't start the food diary until the next day - so may be better to have your meal out before that anyway. After the two 'cookie' meals you'll really appreciate some real food in the evening whatever you have.

79andnotout · 14/11/2023 15:15

I'm doing it! Did my tests yesterday. Those breakfast cookies were grim, and I have a really sweet tooth. Don't think I'll be able to eat a supermarket white chocolate cookie ever again.

Getting some surprising readings from the blood glucose monitor. I made a kale, black bean and pasta stew last night and my glucose rocketed from 4-10 really quickly, had it for lunch again today and it jumped again although not quite as high. Nothing else I've eaten has caused a big jump, just little hummocks - roast dinner, porridge, mince pie, chocolate coated nuts, lattes, and their cookies, all quite gentle rises and falls. Interesting.

alloutofcareunits · 14/11/2023 15:53

@HandShoe that's for your detailed answer, that's really helpful. My digestion isn't the most efficient so no guarantee when I'll be able to do the poo sample!! @79andnotout keep updating how you get on, this is fascinating! I've arranged for delivery to a drop off point as I'm working all week, it's not there yet but hopefully will arrive later today or tomorrow
