@Pushkinini I'm with Insurancewith as I've also had cancer. They asked for my cancer meds, but nothing else. I'll give them a ring!

SofieM0 · 02/02/2024 06:55

@Tailfeather Didn’t cross my mind either and I travelled all Christmas. Let me know if you do and if they were interested…

Will do! Hope it doesn't push up the cost!

SofieM0 · 02/02/2024 08:26

@TryAgainWithFeeling sorry you’re not getting on well. How long have you been on 0.5? I would also try 0.75 if you have the pen and enough needles, then you might as well try if you don’t want to stop. It’s frustrating especially when you’ve invested so much already. Have you also been looking at all the nausea and sickness tips on here? Lots of people have found relief with upping water, electrolytes and in more severe cases anti sickness meds. Would you consider anti sickness and 0.75mg to keep going? Hope you find a way!

Sodie · 02/02/2024 08:56

Can someone recommend somewhere to buy that doesn't require photo id or a full body photo

Thedryjanuarydiaries · 02/02/2024 15:52

Hi Everyone.

I’m so tempted to to try this, my weight and food noise is just a constant battle and as I get older (43) I’m just finding it harder and harder to do anything about it.

Can I also got a very simple overview of how it works. I understand you move up by does but is the best way to start on the very lowest or a slightly higher one, how long does one pen last and where is the cheapes place to buy…

Im so worried if about if we can afford but if saves my my health physical/emotional might be worth it…

Is there a minimum weight you can buy and are there often discount codes around?

I’ve been up to 1, back down to 0.5, then 0.75, then back to 1. Trouble is, even on 1 I’m not finding I get the actual hunger suppressant (which I did have for a glorious few days a while ago so know what I’m looking for!), and frankly I can’t face going to higher doses to try and achieve it.

SofieM0 · 02/02/2024 18:24

@TryAgainWithFeeling I hadn’t found suppressant until 1.7mg but I have been lucky with side effects so makes it easier. I’m not sure what I would do in your shoes. I guess it depends on how much weight you’ve lost and have left and if you would take anti sickness etc. Also the cost of course! I wish you good luck whichever path you go and sorry I can’t be of more help with the side effects 💕

SofieM0 · 02/02/2024 18:33

@Thedryjanuarydiaries There are discount codes around. I haven’t seen many on here but they’re shared widely on the Facebook groups.

In summary you get 1 pen per month that has 4 doses in it and 4 needles and you inject once a week. You start on 0.25 then move up every 4 weeks if you need/want to dependant on your progress and impact of negative side effects (lots of info about them on here!). No reputable pharmacist should prescribe you a higher dose to start with. It seems on some Facebook groups people are often looking for shortcuts or ways to make it cheaper but the side effects can be so extreme for some that I would recommend following the tested and approved instructions. You’ll find most people on here are doing that vs some of the stuff I’ve seen on Facebook. If I’d have started on a higher dose, I’d have been very ill! As for minimum weight, it’s based from BMI and most prescriptions will only be given after a thorough consultation and in many cases now, due to people with a BMI under 30 trying to access, photos are also being asked for.

if it helps - Boots come highly recommended across the board. I also use them and have never had any supply issue either.

SofieM0 · 02/02/2024 18:34

@Sodie Most places require this now. I’m not sure Boots did when I first started but not sure if that has changed. The consultation does appear to have become stricter the more people that have tried to access, which makes sense that it would do.

AhBiscuits · 02/02/2024 18:37

You have to start on 0.25 and then move up gradually. Some people find 0.25 does nothing while others have severe side effects. You'll only know if you give it a try. A pen lasts 4 weeks. I buy mine at Health Express and have found them great, but there may be cheaper places.

You need a BMI of 30.

Radish12 · 02/02/2024 18:41

I'm with Boots and they didn't ask for photos when I started on Wegovy, but they did for Saxenda last year, so perhaps for me they still had that on file (cringe) - sorry that's probably no help!

Thedryjanuarydiaries · 02/02/2024 19:47

Thanks everyone, that’s really helpful.

What the average price for the starting dose (0.25) and can I register online?

Somewhere between £160-£200 a month. Then it rises to £250 and £300 as you progress

FattyPattyBumBum · 02/02/2024 20:36

Boots do ask for a photo

Radish12 · 03/02/2024 07:20

Only half a pound off this week for me. I'm quite disappointed I must admit as I've not had more than 1300 cals one single day this week and I've done three gym classes. Just got to try and keep focused and not let it derail me, and hopefully it'll show next week.

SofieM0 · 03/02/2024 08:55

Keep going @Radish12
I have had 0 loss weeks and I have gained but overall I’m losing.
Consistency is key!

Titwillow55 · 03/02/2024 09:36

@TryAgainWithFeeling have you tried splitting the dose? If you took 0.25 4 x a week it should get rid of the vomiting and you’re never putting a big dose in one go in your body.

even 0.5 twice a week would help wouldn’t it?

sallyanne33 · 03/02/2024 09:52

I took my second dose of 0.25g on Thursday, I’ve lost 5lbs since I started, pleased with that. I’ve been combining it with intermittent fasting which I know works for me as I’ve lost weight with it in the past. Wegovy is making it easier to stick to and not over eat in eating window. I’d like to lose another 50lbs so I expect to be on this med for some time.

GracePalmer33 · 03/02/2024 10:54

My experience so far ...

I am currently midway through week 5 having taken my first 0.5 dose a few days ago.

Weeks 1-3 on 0.25 were great. I had immediate appetite suppression and barely thought about eating. No negative side effects whatsoever- I felt great- and I was losing weight.

The evening before, and the morning of my 4th dose I had awful 'sulphur burps' and the runs for the first time .. weirdly it started the day before my 4th dose when I'd have thought the 3rd dose would have mostly worn off? Although I had eaten a slightly bigger dinner than usual (nothing crazy though ) so thought maybe it was that.

I took the next 0.25 as planned. I had 3 really bad days of revolting burps, constant diarrhoea and not being able to stomach anything. It went away thankfully and the next few days until my next injection were fine.. though I found myself wanting to eat more than I had been.

I almost didn't want to take my next dose (0.5 dose ) just incase those awful symptoms came back with it being a stronger dose, but I decided to do it anyway and that was 3 days ago... to be honest, it doesn't really feel like I've even taken a dose. I'm wanting to eat more than I had been.. I mean, I'm not eating loads but I'm finding it harder to resist and thinking about food way more. I assumed the opposite with it being stronger.

Anyone else experienced this? Is it just my body getting tolerant to it , even though this week I had double the strength I had been having?

For anyone who's experienced the horrendous burps and diarrhoea - was it a one time thing until your body flushed it out or got used to it , or do you get it whenever you eat a certain thing? Tips/advice to avoid that happening again if anyone has any please !!!

Well…..I’m just back from a weeks holiday and have weighed myself. Granted I’ve enjoyed myself a lot and drank a fair bit, including having fizzy juice all week. I’ve gained 1 stone!!!! In a week!!! I forgot to take the dose on the day I was flying so kinda screwed my self over and had 3 course dinners most nights but man alive I didn’t expect that!

i feel disgusting and I’ve just turned 40.

in was on the highest dose so not sure where to start now?? Will email boots pharmacy and ask! X

Babbleon46 · 03/02/2024 11:51

Hello! I started Wegovy just over a week ago and took my second dose on Thursday evening. I’m not convinced that the shot was administered correctly. I didn’t see a drop of liquid on the needle but injected anyway and saw a drop of liquid after I had injected. Today I have been feeling hungry and I don’t have the thirst I had on week one with my first dose.

has anyone else had this and what did you do?

Woah! Seriously? That's crazy. I haven't heard anyone put on weight that quickly even when they've stopped. Hopefully water weight from additional carbs and travelling and it'll come off super quickly too.

flouncymcflouncerson · 03/02/2024 13:21

I hope it’s water and bloating like you say but I’m not too hopeful!

Striving4Better · 03/02/2024 13:28

@GracePalmer33 Thanks for posting - you're a week ahead of me, as I'm about to take my forth dose Sunday evening (12 hours early, as switching from Monday morning). So hearing about your experiences of going up to 0.5 is useful to me. I had wondered about taking 1.5 doses of 0.25 to bridge the gap, but think I will actually go the whole hog with the 0.5 in a week's time.

Regarding the burps, I've been reading everything I can about Wegovy and people report this is due to food being slow to digest in the gut, so you're getting gases from food which hasn't passed through your system yet and is basically sitting there fermenting. Raw vegetables (ie, salad) seems to be one of the causes as your stomach is taking its time to break it down. Try to stick to easy to digest food. No steak! Protein shakes are an option until it clears.

Have you had problems with indigestion? Remedies reduce the amount of stomach acid in your system and, I've not seen this mentioned elsewhere, but I would have thought if people are having problems digesting, then reducing a digesting acid can't be helping. Although, when indigestion is very painful, I reach for the antacid too.

Regarding the runs, I have had this occasionally with IBS. Whenever it happens, I take a single diarrhoea relief tablet (non-branded Immodium) and that sorts it. Again, this is the opposite of what you want if you've got a backup of non-digesting food. You can try adding fibre, but personally I would avoid anything which takes a while to digest (broccoli & cauliflower can be my enemy). Maybe a fibre supplement which mixes in water. Also, for a sore botty, I have used nappy rash cream in the past, but more recently have found Metanium Barrier Cream a more adult alternative.

beaucats · 03/02/2024 14:08

Took my first 0.25 dose last night. Didn't feel any sort of side effects yesterday.
Today I've felt a little bit nauseous but nothing too terrible.
I'm still thinking about food, so food noise is still there for now.
However, I went for some breakfast this morning at a local cafe. I got pancakes. Usually I would finish most, if not all, food on my plate. But this time, I couldn't. It was the most bizarre feeling! The serving was 3 pancakes, and I ate one and a bit. I physically couldn't eat anymore, or I would have been sick. I can't remember the last time I left more than half a meal on my plate
