Hello All! I know I have switched to Saxander now but the thread I was on has gone super quiet and I wanted to share that tonight I have (finally) felt the full effects!!! We all went to McDs (family treat after a big shop) and I wanted... nothing. I had a fantastic zero, just so I wasn't sat there like a ninny.

It's a monthly treat and the kids look forward to it (so do I normally) but not tonight!!!

I am going up slowly, (in half doses) as I have had zero side effects and am hoping to keep it that way.
Well, apart from constipation and added thirst, but I am eating kiwis, flax seeds and taking magnesium to help with that.

I feel so happy! Long May this continue!

Goneistheday · 22/01/2024 10:48

Morning!

Well done @Tailfeather I've not weighed today because I've come on my period and don't need the mental game of seeing a higher number on the scales!

Third injection of 1mg today. I was planning to stay on this dose for an extra four weeks but tbh, my weight loss has really slowed down. I'm more than happy with it to be slow, but I'm starting to get a bit of the food noise back again.

Still counting calories and trying to do at least 10 minutes of weights each day.

Carolwithane · 22/01/2024 11:54

Took my 3rd dose of 0.25mg this morning.

Minimal side effects so far, few headache that disappeared after a few electrolyte tablets. Not going as often but no major constipation few loose bowels but again nothing major - trying hard to drink more water

SW - 251lbs
Week 1 - 245.7lbs
Week 2 - 240.3lbs

Really happy with results so far. Eating 3 smaller meals per day and no snacking. Food noise all but gone - long may it continue! ☺️

Nootkah · 22/01/2024 17:01

I'm on week 17. Could go up to 2.4 but side effects (constipation) have started to kick in so will sty ay at 1.7 unless I feel effectiveness wane.

24lbs down (11kg). 5 bmi points down.

Striving4Better · 22/01/2024 17:14

I now match the title of this thread - I started Wegovy a week ago.

I can report a loss of 3.4lbs for the first week, which I'm very pleased with.

Side effects were uncomfortable tummy and touch of indigestion. I've been trying not to take indigestion meds because reducing stomach acid when digestion is already slowed is not ideal. I took 5ml of milk of magnesia three nights to help things along, which they did. Only stopped feeling uncomfortable on Day 7. I was on a fig a day, now on a prune a day - not sure if they helped - I don't want to take too many (6g carbs per prune!).

My first revelation was at an event on Friday. I was concerned because it was at a hotel with a strict "you are not allowed to bring your own food" policy and there was an unspecified "special menu". So, despite going pretty much low carb all week, I decided my best option was a jacket potato & tuna. I stayed into the evening, so had a snack dinner of garlic bread with cheese. The amazing thing was, I had still lost a bit of weight the following morning (I'm a daily weigher). Normally, this would have completely wiped out any progress for the week, but not on semaglutide!

Day 7 I was feeling pretty good and had a reasonable lunch of fish with parmesan/ground almond crumb and a Steamfresh pouch of veggies. I really felt I had eaten too much and needed a bit of a sit down. So clearly the drug was still doing something in my system.

Second injection this morning. Got quite hungry at lunchtime, which I put down to food choices in the day. Had an extra apple with peanut butter. No stomach issues so far. I had a good first week and hope this will continue.

SofieM0 · 23/01/2024 06:08

Great work @Tailfeather

My weigh in today and phew I have lost -3 this week which makes up for my holiday/travelling gain! I have still eaten a lot more and felt no Wegovy effects but definitely better choices than over Christmas. Hence the loss…I guess it was water weight but a nice boost nonetheless.

I took my first 1.7mg after 6 weeks on 1mg and felt fine yesterday, overnight and this morning. So nothing nasty! Will see how the week goes but excited for a loss into the next stone number!! 4lb to go…

Pre Wegovy loss -7lb
Week 1 -2
Week 2 -3
Week 3 -0
Week 4 -0
Week 5 -3 (1st week on 0.5mg)
Week 6 -0
Week 7 -0
Week 8 -3
Week 9 -3 (1st week on 1mg)
Week 10 -2
week 11 ? Travels
Week 12 ? Travels
Week 13 +2
Week 14 -3

Tailfeather · 23/01/2024 07:32

@SofieM0 Whoop! Well done!

Great that you haven't had any bad side effects on 1.7mg. I chickened out last night and ordered another 1mg pen.

SofieM0 · 23/01/2024 07:51

Haha well if it’s still working for you then you might as well and it saves you money! It had definitely eased off for me so maybe I am building a tolerance for it.

Wishing everyone a great week!

amusedbush · 24/01/2024 13:31

I think I have discovered the weirdest consequence of weight loss ever!

My trusty Converse have been getting looser and looser on my feet, so I gave in and replaced them in a smaller size. This morning I had to pull the car over to slide my seat forward because my new shoes weren't long enough to reach the pedals properly 😂

DontUseYourNose · 24/01/2024 15:36

I've enjoyed reading this thread and seeing all of your progress.

I've done three injections. I'm struggling with diarrhoea and I'm not sure what, if anything in particular, is triggering it. It's been happening every lunchtime and then I'm OK in the evenings?

I've been taking electrolytes which haven't helped this issue. I don't want to take imodium every day but I may have to start doing that from tomorrow!

SofieM0 · 24/01/2024 18:52

@amusedbush Ive had similar with rings but not shoes yet! Funny!

@DontUseYourNose I don’t have any tips for you I’m afraid as I’m still the opposite way round and on laxatives! But I’m sure others will come by with some advise as I think it’s 50/50 wrt be blocked vs runny!

MommaM89 · 25/01/2024 08:22

Wow 1mg is wiping me out. I'm so tired all the time!

amusedbush · 25/01/2024 12:28

@DontUseYourNose I wish I had some advice on that front; I had daily diarrhoea for four weeks on 1mg. I cut out fattier cuts of meat and any kind of spice, I tried eating more fibre, less fibre, softer foods, bulkier meals... no change. I tried drinking more water but it just went through me Blush

At one point I was convinced it was overflow due to being critically backed up so I drank Movicol for days. In the end, my first dose of 1.7mg sorted me out and the diarrhoea stopped literally within 24 hours. It has been a week and my digestive distress has changed direction (literally - it's now heartburn).

I love this 😂fabulous non scale victory!

I was due to take my next shot last night… put it off because I’m so on the fence about it at the moment. Fed up of spending money to feel crappy! Am losing weight but veeeerrrryyy slowly. Need to just woman up and take it tonight! Promised myself I’d try 1mg again, so have everything crossed it goes better than the first time.

FattyPattyBumBum · 25/01/2024 16:24

@TryAgainWithFeeling I am so with you after the last month, but have put the order in today for 1mg repeat and took my last 1mg injection because I left it a few days and omg the food noise was back and my 'self' control was disappearing vvv quickly

spamm · 25/01/2024 16:59

Can I join you? I am in the US but have been a member of Mumsnet for close to 20 years, because I lived in the UK around the time I had my ds. The idea of venturing onto reddit scares me. I am on week 2 of Mounjaro - which I am mainly taking because my A1c is pretty bad and I finally went to my doctor to ask for help. But I am really hoping that I can also lose weight. I am in my 50s, and while I have not put on weight, it is so much harder to lose. I lost 14lbs during the pandemic - I think it was because I was working from home and had time to go walking more. But nothing else. Currently at 200lbs - which my phone tells me is 14.3 stone

I am currently on the lowest dose for 4 weeks - and it has not had much effect, or at least not as much as I had hoped. But I am eating much more healthily and I have lost just under 2lbs. I am going to ask my Dr to put me on the next dose up for my next prescription. I get hungry the day or two before my next shot, but no nausea or anything. I think I am functioning on just sheer willpower right now, and the problem is that I know from experience that will not last.

PurpleFlower1983 · 25/01/2024 19:00

I’ve finally crossed a stone boundary today! Just! Yay!

When I sent my weight to Asda initially I was 16st 8 but that was fully clothed and time of the month.

SW: 15st 12.5
CW: 14st 13.5
GW: 11st 2

I’m coming to the end of my 7th week, started 9th December so slow and steady but it’s the easiest ‘diet’ I’ve ever done.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 25/01/2024 19:12

@spamm welcome! Mounjaro has only just been approved in the UK and isn’t available here yet so we don’t know about doses etc, but I know it has a lot of similarities to wegovy so you’re welcome to join us!

MissConductUS · 25/01/2024 19:26

@spamm, Americans are welcome on this and most other threads on MN. 😀

I did notice it listed on boots

Yes I’ve seen a couple of the online pharmacies listing it but not actually selling it yet. Presumably drumming up business before it actually arrives. These weight loss drugs are a brand new big earner!

spamm · 26/01/2024 00:19

@TryAgainWithFeeling - thank you. I wanted to join because I have not told anyone else I am on Mounjaro. My sister got Mounjaro about 18 months ago and has lost 90 lbs. She was prescribed it because she was pre-diabetic. I have had T2D for about 6 years and am 8 years older and it is not having the same effect, yet. But I know each person is different and I am keeping at it as I work through the stages.

@MissConductUS - thank you! I have lived here for 14 years, so I feel very American, but I am a Brit at heart. Are you in the US?

MissConductUS · 26/01/2024 00:44

@spamm, yes, I’m a New Yorker who has never been to the UK. I’ve been on MN for about seven years.
