I stayed on the 0.5, but I also have gone 10 days between injections (as it says you can).
I have indulged over Christmas but not binged & so am not weighing until next week but I had lost 9kg (just under 20lbs) in 7 weeks (including a week's holiday) but only just taken 7th dose.
I had a Greggs pasty yesterday, due to circumstances & not my normal thing & my goodness I was so ill last night

I am on week two of 0.5..the worst side effect from going up to this dose is the Sulpher burps 🤢 even the thought of it turns my stomach..any advice on how to help this?

I have had this past week . I am on 1 mg .

Advise I was given was drink more water. I am not sure if side effects have just worn off or it has helped but worth a try . I don’t inject again till Tuesday .

Thankyou for your reply. I definitely do not drink enough so will try this. Thank-you

@flouncymcflouncerson
Hiya, I did really well on Saxenda, but had to switch to Wegovy due to supply issues.

I haven’t lost any weight since switching. I’ve had quite a few weeks where I’ve stayed the same. Other weeks where I’ve put on a pound. I’ve just finished 4 weeks at 1 and moving up to 1.7 next week. I’m hoping that will make a difference.

gibegobble · 31/12/2023 21:37

Just a quick one, I had my 2nd dose of 0.5 and then took a 19 day break leading up to Xmas. I started again and took the 0.5 (realise after 2 weeks you're meant to start again but thought what the hell) no side effects really but I don't feel it working as well as it did before the break. I have one more 0.5 dose left to take and then will consider either ordering another 0.5 or moving up the dose. Has anyone had a break like me and gone back to it? How did you find it working once you started again?

Tindrum · 01/01/2024 15:04

@gibegobble i read something recently that explained that it takes 3 - 4 weeks for the medication to build in your system so imagine you’ll find it increases in potency over the next month.

gibegobble · 01/01/2024 20:00

Thanks @Tindrum that makes perfect sense as I was on week 6, I'll give it longer and see if I need to continue on 0.5 for a little longer.

Amazingly I have gained just 2lb over Xmas when it's usually 7-10lb every Christmas without fail! Looking forward to getting back to it!

flouncymcflouncerson · 01/01/2024 21:09

I had been using saxenda previously too.

My weight loss overall is good. Almost 3stones now but just so stagnant recently.

My eating has changed in that I rarely snack now, this week aside. I do think I could introduce more veges etc so that’s maybe something to look at.

amusedbush · 31/12/2023 11:18

I recently saw a discussion on Reddit where people were finding that their side effects were linked to which side of their body they injected into, which intrigued me.

For context, I have been on a self-injected contraceptive (with a much bigger needle than the flex pens!) for years now and, like Wegovy, I need to rotate between left and right each time I inject. My left side is always a non-event but every time I go into my right it stings like a MFer, bruises and is painful to the touch for a week.

Looking back over the past few weeks on Wegovy, I've noticed that I only experience nausea and diarrhoea when I've injected into my right side, regardless of thigh or stomach. Maybe it's a coincidence but I'll keep an eye on it.

I have just injected into my left side see if I get less side effects this week .

I have tried now to improve my diet . Increasing my fluids and drinking peppermint tea .

see what this week brings

Day 2 of Wegovy

Bit the bullet and so far so good. No side effects. Still feeling hungry though- am on 0.25 dose. I’m 42, 5’7” and weigh 16 stone…..clothes size 16. 5 stone to lose! I’m doing couch to 5k, dry Jan and eating healthy. Doing this to fit back into my clothes!

Goneistheday · 03/01/2024 10:25

I weighed myself this morning and I've stayed the same over Christmas! It was like my mind couldn't take it in at first as I usually pile it on over this time of year. Last 0.5 taken on Monday (plus the extra bit that was leftover) and I've felt a bit headachey and tired the last couple of days.

However, I'm feeling more motivated than ever to get some exercise in so the kids and I have been going for more walks and doing YouTube exercise videos together.

Moirarosesgarden · 03/01/2024 10:50

Just taken my first dose of 0.25
Am paranoid I didn’t do it properly but read the instructions so many times!

How long did it take for it to affect your appetite?!

For me, about half a day. You'll have higher blood levels after your second dose because half of the first dose will still be in your system a week from now. So if you don't feel a significant effect today, wait until a day after your second dose to judge it properly.

amusedbush · 03/01/2024 14:48

@C0ffeecup Good luck! Dry January is a good shout as alcohol can make you feel rotten on Wegovy. Looking forward to hearing how you're getting on.

@Goneistheday That's great, well done! The Christmas period is a food minefield so maintaining your weight is a definite win.

@Moirarosesgarden I'm afraid I felt nothing on 0.25, and 0.5 took the edge off my hunger but wore off after five days, so I was hungry before my next injection. I have only experienced significant appetite suppression since moving up to 1mg.

The therapeutic doses are 1.7 and 2.4, and the lower doses are just to get your body used to it but everyone is different. Some people are "super responders" who can stay on 0.25 the whole time, and some people don't respond to it at all. Most people fall somewhere in the middle. I'm thankful that while I'm not very responsive to the medication, I don't really have any negative side effects either.

Edited: fixed typo

Goneistheday · 03/01/2024 15:19

@Moirarosesgarden I'm pretty sure I'm a super responder as I had appetite suppression within two days, and while I've been able to feel a bit of the 'food noise' reappear, it's only the day before my next dose.

I actually managed to mess up my second dose of 0.25 and only injected about half of it... Then had loads left at the end of the pen!

Forgottenpassword53 · 04/01/2024 23:01

I am coming up for my 3rd injection tomorrow. I started on 0.5, felt so sick for 8 days! But lost 6lbs. This week I am yet to weigh, but have just been for my first number 2 in 7 days... I was told 800 -1000 calories a day max, so put the weight loss and nausea down to that.
My question is if I am already in a massive calories deficit then exercising 4 times a week and burning off at least 500 calories each time. Surely I should be eating more. Maybe this could be why I have been constipated ?
Is there anybody else going through the same thing please 🙏

FattyPattyBumBum · 05/01/2024 08:39

I have reached a milestone in my journey this week, not sure if it is because I have been ill or the wegovy, but either way hopefully weight will continue to be lost.
I have moved from the obese BMI category to overweight 😊

That is amazing! The medical implications of that are fantastic too! Well done!

Starting on a higher dose is likely to cause more GI issues and I was told 1,200-1,500 calories per day. Do you feel hungry?

Mookie81 · 05/01/2024 19:20

The 1ml has been great so far- haven't had weigh in on it yet, that's tomorrow, but appetite has gone right down, and I'm currently 900 calories under for the week just because I'm only eating half of food I dish up.
Hoping for at least 2 pds loss tomorrow.

I had a Gregg's pasty just before Christmas and I felt ill afterwards... (have had zero side effects to this point!)

For insurance reasons, I have switched to Saxander this week, after 1 month of wegovy.
Let's see how it goes. Have decided I would do the starter dose for the first half a week and then up the dose...

Kickstartplease · 05/01/2024 22:12

@justsaxy I haven't really had side effects other than that one night. I definitely won't be having any more pasties 🤦🏻‍♀️
Do you mean personalised health insurance? I don't have this.
I have done 7 doses over 8.5 weeks (due again tomorrow dose 8) & I have lost just over 10kg (22lbs) - in this time I have been on holiday for a week (didn't lose) & had Christmas/festive things going on for 2 weeks (didn't weigh until yesterday).
I am pleased with this & don't want to lose any faster which is why I got a 2nd 0.5 pen.
I hope everyone else is going well

That's brilliant! My loss hasn't been that great, I have lost 2 kilos in the four weeks, but it's still an improvement so I am happy.

And yes, medical insurance, I am not in the UK. Saxanda is covered but Wegovy isn't. I waited 4 months for some Saxanda, then when Wegovy was approved here in November, I decided to pay for a months supply (0.25) at the cost of £300. And of course, since then, I have managed to get 10 Sax pens (fully covered by health insurance). So I am taking this for the moment, and hoping that Wegovy will be covered by insurance (we were supposed to find out before Christmas, but nothing yet).

There is still a shortage here, but you cannot buy it without a prescription, so am hopeful for the moment that I will get some more...

Forgottenpassword53 · 05/01/2024 22:29

No I rarely feel hungry. If I do it's because it's been 16+hours between meals. I can only eat small meals when I do, so that's a bonus.
Do you ever feel hungry?

Kickstartplease · 05/01/2024 22:38

@justsaxy Thank you, I do have alot to loose healthy BMI would range between 30-50kg but I am pleased as I am at approx 25% if I aim for the middle.
Wow, that's more expensive than here & I thought it was expensive here @£180 but good if you can get whichever helps you on insurance.
I am just wondering if doing Dry January is a step to far & putting too much pressure on myself doing both, but I'll see how I get on (I initially thought it might boost the weight loss but have had a very stressful day & would have enjoyed the relax)
