@TryAgainWithFeeling that sounds awful, I'm sorry. What sort of things have you been eating?

Apologies for this massive TMI but I did some googling because my bowel movements smelled really sulphur-y and apparently a high fibre diet can cause that (along with sulphur burps and vomiting) on Wegovy. The slowed digestion allows fibrous foods to pretty much ferment in your gut. I had increased my fibre to tackle the constipation but since easing off, no more sulphur.

That also explains why a few people on Reddit have had to stop eating raw vegetables because it was causing similar side effects; someone said they'd vomited up a salad they'd eaten 30 hours previously.

221BBakerSt · 22/12/2023 14:13

That’s really interesting @amusedbush thanks for letting us all know!

TryAgainWithFeeling · 22/12/2023 18:55

Thanks @amusedbush I’ve mostly been eating things like bread, yoghurt, as felt too queasy for anything complex, or veg etc. But will definitely keep it in mind and try to track whether anything makes it better/worse.

Goneistheday · 25/12/2023 18:28

Merry Christmas everyone!

Just taken my 3rd 0.5 dose. I decided I'd take it as normal rather than delay anything. I've not weighed this morning though; I did it last Friday instead. Lost another 2lb so I'm 1 stone 4lb down now. I'm not planning to weigh myself until the kids are back at school! If I lose another couple of pounds in that time, then great. Otherwise I'm not too concerned.

How's everyone else getting on?

MissConductUS · 25/12/2023 18:35

Well done, all!

I started Wegovy in August and am on the 1.7mg maintenance dose. I’ve lost 17% of my starting weight and am at my goal weight. No side effects other than some constipation, which wasn’t an issue until the 1.7mg dose.

justsaxy · 25/12/2023 18:44

Merry Christmas all!

I am on week 3 of 0.25 and yesterday went to Gregg's (it's a Christmas tradition). Goodness gracious me, I felt SO ILL.

Today has been successful, in that no binging. I did eat a big lunch, but it was mostly veg and I haven't felt hungry since.

I am enjoying this not thinking about food.

I hope everyone else had fun today!

amusedbush · 26/12/2023 11:31

A belated Merry Christmas! And a belated week 7 update.

I moved up to 1mg on Friday and I felt pretty queasy over the weekend but, largely, I have been okay. My calves have felt tight and crampy over the past couple of days and my beloved electrolytes weren't quite cutting it so I took two magnesium glycinate tablets last night before bed and that seems to have sorted it.

Food-wise, I made the decision that I wouldn't avoid treats but I would be mindful of my hunger levels, and I ended the day full and satisfied on ~1350 calories. I never thought I'd say that about Christmas Day! 😳

I woke up today weighing exactly the same as I did yesterday morning: 13st 5lbs. That's 20lbs off since I started Wegovy 7.5 weeks ago, and a total of 70lbs down from my heaviest two years ago.

Mookie81 · 26/12/2023 13:56

Last jab of 0.5 on Friday (day early due to travelling home) and a pd loss. 12 pds total, only 2 away from a stone. 🤞🏾for next week.

221BBakerSt · 26/12/2023 15:18

@amusedbush thats a great overall loss! Hope you’re maybe testing yourself to something new in the sales?

I’ve lost 24lbs in 44 days, all at 0.25mg. 55 lbs to go. It’s definitely odd not thinking about food, but I do need to drink more. Going to try doing fruit/veg/oat/kefir smoothies.

amusedbush · 27/12/2023 12:04

@221BBakerSt well done, you're doing brilliantly!

I'm actually not buying anything in the sales. I recently went through every item of clothing I owned and I filled several bin bags. It wasn't even just old stuff that was too big; there were so many things with the tags still on that I will never wear. So wasteful Sad

I also went through my Wishful Thinking Pile (i.e. the brand new clothes relegated to under the bed because I have never slimmed into them) and most of it was close to fitting. That was about a month ago so I will essentially have a whole new wardrobe when I go back to work on the 8th January.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/12/2023 07:51

Update from me! Starter Wegovy on 9th December so coming to the end of week 3. I’ve lost 8lbs, most of that in the first week but at this time of year I would easily gain 7-10lbs normally so taking this as a big win. I have one more 0.25 shot to go and 0.5 is arriving today. Looking forward to seeing what this stuff can do in January when I’ll be back ‘on it’ properly.

Honeyandwine · 29/12/2023 10:05

Going well with wegovy. Am about to update my dose. Have felt ropey the last few days sk am slightly concerned but have overindulgence due to Christmas.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 29/12/2023 12:43

Update from me - I did 3 weeks on 1mg and felt rough as hell the whole time. Permanent hungover feeling, vomiting, etc. And constant hunger! So week 4 I measured a 0.5 dose, that was Tuesday and I have had no side effects since, and even better, the appetite suppressant effect is back! So I’m feeling much happier.

Im also keeping a close eye on what I’m eating - limiting fatty/sugary foods, and having electrolytes every day.

I’ve ordered another 1mg pen, but going to stick with a 0.5 dose for now, if I feel I need to go up again I’ll try 0.75 to start with.

Goneistheday · 29/12/2023 13:28

@TryAgainWithFeeling I'm due to go up to 1mg a week on Monday and worried about possible side effects. Was it easy enough to do half a dose? And have you tried different injection sites? I had worse side effects on 0.25mg with a thigh injection than with 0.5mg in my stomach.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 29/12/2023 14:11

@Goneistheday yes easy to do - you just count the number of clicks to one, turn it back, then count to turn halfway and inject as normal. There are various “click charts” online, but be careful because they’re not all accurate.

I’ve been injecting in my thighs almost the whole time, felt more side effects the one time I did my stomach. Might try stomach again now side effects seem under control!

amusedbush · 29/12/2023 14:27

Week 8 update:

Friday is injection day and weigh in. I took my second dose of 1mg and I have now lost 22.2lbs. I'm also just 6lbs away from no longer being medically obese. I'm praying I can shift that by mid-January, when my boss has announced we will be having team photographs taken for the new company website 😨

P.S. @TryAgainWithFeeling I'm so glad you've found what works for you and that you're feeling better ❤

Tindrum · 29/12/2023 16:08

@TryAgainWithFeeling that is so interesting I didn’t realise you could wind the pens back! I’ve been working on the 1mg pen being 78 clicks so have been using 36 clicks as the mid point - does that sound about right to you?

TryAgainWithFeeling · 29/12/2023 18:32

@Tindrum yes I did 36 clicks.

SofieM0 · 29/12/2023 20:05

Sounds like most survived Christmas!

I’m nearing the end of week 3 of 1mg. I can’t weigh in as I’m mid way through 3 weeks of travelling. Negative side effects still low except constipation but I’ve also taken a lot of flights which also stuffs me up but im a week today without going…so I’m getting concerned.

otherwise appetite still suppressed and feeling full when eat :)

flouncymcflouncerson · 29/12/2023 21:44

Sadly my weight has stayed the same few lbs on and off since mid November. That’s around 7 weeks of just up and down by a few lbs. I’m moving up to the final dose (and most expensive on Monday!) but I’m concerned it’s not working for me now.

has anyone had similar??

OhpoorMe · 29/12/2023 21:45

Mookie81 · 30/12/2023 20:34

Week 8:
Still 13 5, no loss but better than I expected due to indulging over Xmas.
1st week of 1.0ml, injected in thigh for the first time instead of stomach; I don't like it, so going back to my stomach next week.

Starlightstarbright2 · 31/12/2023 00:56

I am rejoining the thread .

i have been only slowly losing weight and i put that down to diet .

Today I took myself to Aldi bought some much healthier foods let the weight loss begin. Again

amusedbush · 31/12/2023 11:18

I recently saw a discussion on Reddit where people were finding that their side effects were linked to which side of their body they injected into, which intrigued me.

For context, I have been on a self-injected contraceptive (with a much bigger needle than the flex pens!) for years now and, like Wegovy, I need to rotate between left and right each time I inject. My left side is always a non-event but every time I go into my right it stings like a MFer, bruises and is painful to the touch for a week.

Looking back over the past few weeks on Wegovy, I've noticed that I only experience nausea and diarrhoea when I've injected into my right side, regardless of thigh or stomach. Maybe it's a coincidence but I'll keep an eye on it.

MommaM89 · 31/12/2023 16:21

I am on week two of 0.5..the worst side effect from going up to this dose is the Sulpher burps 🤢 even the thought of it turns my stomach..any advice on how to help this?
