Put 2pds on this week, my own fault.
Took last 0.25 yesterday, hopefully 0.5 next week will kick things on a bit.

Meadowdog · 26/11/2023 15:37

@221BBakerSt do you feel like your sense of malaise is due to not enjoying nice things to eat on Wegovy? I used to really enjoy going out for meals at the weekend and having nice foods at home to look forward to - basically how I got myself into this mess of being obese. Without food to look forward to life does feel a bit more flat. I've been trying to replace that enjoyment with nice dog walks, bubble baths, etc but it's not the same.

@Mookie81 I hope your results improve with 0.5 I'm guessing they will and 2lbs isn't much in the scheme of things. But I would be disappointed too with a gain, particularly given all we go through with this medication!

@amusedbush how did upping your dose a bit early work out for you? By the way I love visiting Japan, I've been 6 times and really enjoyed each one. Most of those were for work but still managed to have a great time while there. I'm sure you will really enjoy your trip.

So, after my vomiting and nausea on 0.25 I injected 0.125 yesterday morning using the formula you posted @amusedbush in order to work out the right number of clicks. I'm doing very well on it, a bit hungrier than I was on 0.25 but not as hungry as normal, and I'm easily sticking to my diet. I will do 0.125 again next week as I have another work trip. The following week I'll go to 0.25 again and hope I'm accustomed enough by then to be ok on it. The good part is that I'm squeezing an extra week out of my expensive pen!

I am also toying with the idea of ordering a 0.5 pen next (if I get on ok when I'm back on 0.25) but only injecting 0.33 each week. That way I'll be ramping up as slowly as I can (given the way I react) while also getting 2 weeks extra from the pen. And so on with each subsequent dose.

Tailfeather · 27/11/2023 08:14

Weigh in day!

Week 1: -3lbs.
Week 2: -1lb.
Week 3: 0lb. (On holiday, so indulged).
Week 4: -2lbs.
Week 5: -2lbs.
Week 6: -2lbs. (Total 10lbs down).

Starting BMI: 32.7
Current BMI: 31.2

EweCee · 27/11/2023 09:06

Well down @Tailfeather that seems a good consistent trend down.

Weigh in day for me too and I have FINALLY hit my 10kgs/22lb loss!! The past few weeks I have just stagnated but this morning the scale moved down again and I have hit my 2nd goal (doing 5kg goals). But I am still soooo constipated I need to up my liquid intake today.

So, a lot to go (another 15kg) but feel so much better woth this loss - clothes feel better (I even have taken some of my old winter coats out of storage and they fit great), my face looks better and I feel better. No-one has noticed yet but I don't care!

amusedbush · 27/11/2023 10:32

@Tailfeather That's great - steady and sustainable!

@Meadowdog I can't wait for my trip, it has been on my bucket list since I was about 13, obsessively reading manga and eating Super Noodles with chopsticks Grin Hopefully I don't speak too soon but titrating up early has been a breeze. Still no real side effects to speak of; I injected on Friday morning and I had some fatigue that night and the next day. My bowels are going from one extreme to the other but, as an IBS veteran, that doesn't faze me.

Last week I struggled to take in enough electrolytes in soluble form, as it's not always practical to be chugging down water and going to the toilet every 45 minutes. I bought some electrolyte tablets from Amazon and I'm really impressed. They make a huge difference and are far less of a chore than the soluble ones.

amusedbush · 27/11/2023 10:40

I have been doing a lot of reading about Mounjaro, the new weight loss injection that will be available early next year. By all accounts, it is more effective as it is combined GLP-1 and GIP, whereas Wegovy is only GLP-1. People lost more weight during the clinical trials (22% vs Wegovy's 15%) and according to accounts from people who have used both, it has fewer side effects, and it's better at silencing food noise/suppressing appetite. It's also looking to be cheaper to buy privately.

I'll admit, I have not been wowed by Wegovy as yet. This might sound like a stretch but I swear there is clinical evidence of it - many neurodivergent people are hypo-sensitive to medications or even have paradoxical reactions. For example, sleeping tablets don't work on me yet caffeine makes me tired; decongestants make me feel worse; travel sickness tablets never worked when I was a kid. It's the reason they use aggressive stimulants to calm us down 😅

I'll keep going with what I have in my fridge (I have a 1.0mg pen as well as the rest of the 0.5mg) and see how I feel but I would be open to switching when Mounjaro becomes available...

SofieM0 · 27/11/2023 13:02

Good results @Tailfeather. My weigh in tomorrow so hoping for another 2lb loss.

hows the side effects? Mine have eased with this second dose so hoping will be fine on 3rd. Albeit still constipated!!

and congratulations on your target @EweCee 🥳

regularmumnotacoolmum · 27/11/2023 13:22

I am on day 3 of my first 0.5 dose and feeling the effects. Day 1 I had diarrhoea but it passed quickly, day 2 I was really tired and day 3, I have a stinking headache that won't go away. 😭😭 the other side effects I can cope with but headache is so debilitating. Does anybody have any tips for effective relief?

Tailfeather · 27/11/2023 13:31

@EweCee Almost 2 stone!!! Amazing!!!

@SofieM0 I'm feeling ok on 0.5 so far. But am going to stay on it for another month as am scared of going up to 1 when I'm travelling a lot and staying with various family members over the Christmas period.

I had a terrible headache last week. Turns out it was covid! (Got suspicious when I couldn't taste anything so tested to see if it was covid or wegovy). Hope it passes. X

I'm going to get a reputation as Crazy Electrolyte Lady on this thread but seriously, start taking them if you're not already.

It'll be a dehydration headache but water won't cure it because drinking more water flushes out the electrolytes in your body so you feel worse. You want high strength supplements with decent amounts of sodium, potassium and magnesium.

regularmumnotacoolmum · 27/11/2023 16:19

@Tailfeather Thank you!!

@amusedbush I did wonder whether it might be hydration related but thought it wouldn't be as I'd drank plenty. Electrolytes makes sense! Do you have any recommendations for specific supplements? X

amusedbush · 27/11/2023 17:39

@regularmumnotacoolmum I bought these from Amazon: https://amzn.eu/d/apCxCa3

I’m happy with them so far!

hellsbells99 · 27/11/2023 18:00

I love reading this thread and have been doing so for a while.
I finally bought Wegovy a few weeks ago but was too nervous to use it as first. Plucked up the courage last Tuesday as I have been on self destruct mode eating wise since it arrived! The injection was fine. Weighed in a day early as I have a very early start tomorrow and have lost 4lb so I am very happy, particularly as that included a Christmas party night out eating and drinking. I have had some headaches but otherwise felt okay. I have just felt a lot less hungry.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 27/11/2023 20:19

Took latest injection last night. Felt really dodgy this morning, had to do lots of controlled breathing not to throw up on the school run. But then I drank (dramatic music…!) electrolytes and felt a lot better. @amusedbush I hope you’re proud of me!

Did eat a bit crappily today, even though quantity was lower than it would have been. Need to give some proper thought to the whole “brain retraining” bit. Wondering whether that should involve a therapist to confirm I overeat junk because my dad left (slightly joking) or a nutritionist for a food plan.

221BBakerSt · 27/11/2023 22:38

@EweCee that’s great!!

@Meadowdog malaise is a great word for it; a sudden period of ennui and I don’t like feeling listless. There’s something maybe to be had in your idea of food enjoyment being missing. I can still cook for the kids, but my stuff/portions often seems meh. I had stomachache after the last actual meal I had and it was only mushroom stir fry done with minimal olive oil!

Today I ended up only eating two oatcakes (no butter), a banana and a pot of quark protein pudding. Not enough.

Tindrum · 28/11/2023 08:22

@221BBakerSt I know you’ll know this but your body needs good nutrition to allow you lose weight, otherwise it can try to hold on to your stores, also hair shedding can happen and broken nails etc. If I’m feeling meh about food I make myself eat a bowl of berries, nuts and kefir yoghurt and then I know I at least had a mix of good things (even if I didn’t want it).

amusedbush · 28/11/2023 13:14

@TryAgainWithFeeling Yesss I'm so pleased they helped! I'll continue spreading the good word Grin

TryAgainWithFeeling · 28/11/2023 13:34

I find it reassuring to log on here and find people thinking exactly the same way I am! Losing the interest in food in the last few days has meant I’ve snacked on east things without getting enough nutrition. So I’ve just picked up the bits to make a batch of egg muffins - plenty of spinach, veg, cheese - I’ll pop them in the freezer so when I need a small meal I can pop a couple in the microwave.

Hmindr68 · 28/11/2023 14:22

Afternoon all. I’m just starting week 5 and 7lbs down. It’s not earth moving amounts, but it’s 7lb more than I would’ve lost on my own.

I’ve successfully used a 15% off code at Pharmacy 2u for my first two orders, but I now can’t find a working code.

its £169 normally.

Where are others finding good deals, please?thank you!

221BBakerSt · 28/11/2023 17:59

@Tindrum thanks, I appreciate someone caring, believe me I know so much about nutrition and digestion from my food issues, most of my lack of food was because I needed a good food shop, but I’ve always got oats/kefir yoghurt/fruit/nuts in so I should have forced myself.
Today has been better, not hungry at all at all but have eaten porridge with berries, vegetable stew, and a slice of rye bread with a boiled egg and tomatoes.

Tindrum · 28/11/2023 18:26

@221BBakerSt aw I really do care and knew I was preaching to the converted. People have been here for me when I've had wobbles and it made a big difference. So nice to have this forum.

amusedbush · 30/11/2023 12:44

I know a few of us have been struggling with constipation on Wegovy and I'm here with good news!

I mentioned upthread that I'd bought Lepicol powder because it was so well-reviewed online but no matter what I added it to, it was such an unpleasant texture - like drinking sawdust. Even though I got it BOGOF at Boots, it still wasn't exactly cheap so I didn't want it to go to waste. I bought empty medicine capsules and a tiny spatula from Amazon and voila!

I took the recommended 2tsp of powder (10 capsules 😟) on Tuesday morning and then on Wednesday morning, I left the bathroom practically clicking my heels a la Dick Van Dyke 😂 Another 2tsp worth of capsules yesterday and, again, satisfactory results around 24 hours later. I'm hoping it continues to be this effective so I can cut back on the Dulcoease...

FattyPattyBumBum · 30/11/2023 14:10

@amusedbush ooh thank you for your post. I've not been on recently because aside being busy, I've been feeling a bit deflated about the constipation and it seems that nothing I do helps (still only going about once a week) 😔 so have been considering stopping as the 50mg has definitely lost its shine and weightloss might even be going backwards at this point (I haven't dared weigh myself)
