Week 4 update:

That's my first week on 0.5mg done, after moving up a week early. I have not been as hungry and the past couple of days, I haven't eaten anything until after 1pm. No real side effects to speak of, which I'm very grateful for.

In terms of weight, I lost another 2lbs so that's 11.2lbs in four weeks. I was really hoping to see 13 stone-something on the scales today (a weight I haven't seen since 2018) but they stubbornly stuck at 14st on the nose - no matter how much I exhaled! I briefly considered shaving my legs and cutting my hair to get another fraction of a pound off 😂

Ah well, next week!

Hope I can join you all on this journey as I have only just found this thread :)

I started Wegovy 4 weeks ago so will be moving up to 0.5 tomorrow afternoon.

I am not sure I am ready for it so wanted to know how people do a half dose, can anyone talk me through it please?

Starting weight 15'11
Week 4 - lost 6lbs so far

@Alisonjayne8 hi, welcome!

@amusedbush glad the side effects haven’t been too much of an issue, you’re doing well.

I just had a slice of seedy sourdough with a scrape of Philadelphia , cucumber and tomatoes and am stuffed. It was so nice. Other than that I’ve only managed some quark today…think I’ll try to have a hot chocolate later made with protein powder.

Why not just buy another 0.25 pen? That is a a half dose!

It’s easy to administer a half dose with the Flextouch pens - just count the clicks for a full dose, turn it back to the start and then count half the clicks.

If someone wants to stay on 0.25mg, it makes better financial sense to use a 0.5mg pen because it costs the same but gives twice as many 0.25mg doses.

regularmumnotacoolmum · 01/12/2023 18:22

Starting to get a little disheartened now as I gained 1lb this week. My appetite has been back for a couple of weeks and so far I've managed to stay the same rather than gain. Injected my second dose of 0.5 so 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

If you search online you should be able to find a click chart to tell you how many clicks 0.25 is. You could always count the clicks to 0.5 then click back half that amount.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 01/12/2023 22:01

I’m due to go up to 1mg on Sunday, but wondering about either doing another couple of weeks at 0.5, or even counting to 0.75. Just a felt pretty rough the first two days this week, I’m worried that I’ll feel even worse going up to 1. Having said that I was worried about going up to 0.5 and it didn’t make too much difference.

Ahhhh bingo. My period arrived which explains it!

Mookie81 · 02/12/2023 11:10

Well done @amusedbush 👏🏾
Took first 0.5 this morning.
Lost 3 pds this week, which I wasn't expecting as I have been snacking here and there and have 2-3 pds of period bloating on me!
Total loss on 0.25- 7 pds

amusedbush · 04/12/2023 11:44

Morning! I hope you're all staying safe and warm, wherever you are. I had to drive DH to work at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning, on fresh snow the whole way. Thankfully the roads had largely been cleared by the time I left for work this morning but the pavements are like ice rinks. I hope my neighbours weren't watching as I wobbled to my car, sprinkling grit before every step 😂

On a weight loss note, last night I went into my storage bags and pulled out the coat I bought a year ago - it's now so big on me, it's unwearable. I should be chuffed but I only managed to wear the bloody thing twice last winter! I popped into Tesco at 7am and picked up a replacement to see me through this winter, and my work recently put out an appeal for second hand warm coats, so I will donate the other tomorrow.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 04/12/2023 14:08

@amusedbush that's great, I think moving through clothes is so much more satisfying than just watching numbers go down. Even if it might get a bit expensive!

SofieM0 · 04/12/2023 16:00

So the last 2 weeks have been a bit disappointing. After really feeling the effects of 0.5 and losing 3lb in the first week, the last 2 have been zero losses (possibly a 1lb gain) and the food noise is INSANE!! If it wasn’t for the absolute crippling constipation again, I’d swear it wasn’t working at all. So @FattyPattyBumBum I feel ya!

I topped my herbal Colon cleanser up with dulcoease which did nothing. So just swapped to dulcolax which seems to be feeling like it’s worked. But I’m only going once every 5 days. And I have eaten A LOT!

I have my 1mg pen already (was going to do another 4 weeks on 0.5) and think I might move up a week early. Aside the constipation which I’m getting anyway, it’s having zero effect.

what’s the experiences of others moving up early? @amusedbush i remember reading you were going to, how did that go?

SofieM0 · 04/12/2023 16:05

@amusedbush so sorry just saw your update. Please ignore me!

flouncymcflouncerson · 04/12/2023 17:02

I’ve eventually dropped down 1lb after going up and staying up for a little while. I’d gotten to 14st8lbs but then crept up to 15st2 for a bit then was wavering around 15st for a bit.

now weighing in at 14st11lbs and using 1.7mg pens. I’m getting mine from boots but interested to know if there’s a better price around.

Still suffering badly with constipation but I can’t tolerate the laxido sachets so oooking for your best alternatives. I take 3 senna at night prescribed by GP and still go very rarely. I have other health issues too so medication that bungs me up as well!

SofieM0 · 04/12/2023 20:38

@flouncymcflouncerson having moaned earlier about constipation, the dulcolax I took last night has finally kicked in this afternoon. Feel much better! Senna, dulcoease and anything herbal hadn’t worked for me previously.

Tailfeather · 04/12/2023 21:38

@SofieM0 I'm the same. Just took my 4th 0.5 and am so hungry!! I ordered another 0.5 pen as thought I'd stick to 0.5 through the festive period as I'm travelling a lot and had a good response on 0.25, but now wish I'd ordered 1. I really don't want to undo my good work over the festive period and having previously felt nervous about the jump to 1, now I feel ready! I guess I should have trusted the process!

SofieM0 · 04/12/2023 21:54

@Tailfeather annoying isn’t it! I’ve got a 0.5 and a 1mg so I’m doubling up my 0.5 from next week to do x2 1mg shots and then going onto the 1mg pen so 6 weeks altogether. At least that way it doesn’t go to waste and by the time I go travelling any immediate bad side effects will have gone, hopefully! Can you get a 1mg pen and do the same so you don’t waste your 0.5 but can move up still?

Tailfeather · 04/12/2023 21:56

Weigh in day!

Week 1: -3lbs.
Week 2: -1lb.
Week 3: 0lb. (On holiday, so indulged).
Week 4: -2lbs.
Week 5: -2lbs.
Week 6: -2lbs.
Week 7: -1lb (Total 11lbs down).

Starting BMI: 32.7
Current BMI: 31.1

Slow and steady 😊.

Tailfeather · 04/12/2023 22:00

@SofieM0 I wish I'd just gone for the 1 and worse case halved my shot each week. Oh well! I will order my 1, and I'll see if I continue my weight loss despite being properly hungry! Let me know how you feel with the next step up.

Goneistheday · 05/12/2023 06:43

I took my last 0.25 last night, but I don't think I did it right the week before as there was quite a bit left in the pen. I also didn't lose anything last week according to my Monday weigh in.. but then came on my period as well.

Has anybody else had liquid left in the pen?! I just added it on but now I'm worrying about wide effects from a possible double dose!

AhBiscuits · 05/12/2023 07:02

I think I had about a third of a dose left in the pen. I just injected it.

Please excuse me if I'm preaching to the converted but if you're doing two 0.5mg doses in a row, make sure you use a new needle for each. I've seen a few people on Reddit insist that it's fine to use the same one in that situation because "it's just a few seconds" but all I can think about is that poor woman whose doctor stuck her twice with an IV needle and it caused a bacterial infection that has made her a permanent wheelchair user with CRPS.

I bought medical grade alcohol wipes and a box of 100 spare needles, which may be overkill but at least I'm prepared for anything 😅

SofieM0 · 05/12/2023 11:17

@amusedbush yes I was going to use the 4 needles that come with the pen (2 for each dose) but always good to remind people. I’m sure the majority will be fine but I’d rather be as safe as possible :)

a new goal could be to get to your target before you use all 100 needles 😂

Absolutely, it's just not worth the risk.

And that made me laugh out loud - I'll keep a tally and let you know!
