@Meadowdog After sleeping on it, I'm definitely leaning toward moving up to 0.5 on Friday. I'm an obsessive planner so I already have my 0.5 and 1.0 pens in the fridge ready to go Blush having the final 0.25 dose to add on at the end and act as a 0.75 bridge before I step up again gives me some comfort too.

@Tailfeather I started taking Lepicol but no matter what I add it to, it's like drinking sawdust. Really unpleasant. I took Dulcoease for a couple of days last week to get things going and now a daily Fybogel sachet is working for... ahem... maintenance.

regularmumnotacoolmum · 21/11/2023 15:25

I'm due to start 0.5 on Friday and looking forward to it as I didn't have any weight loss last week and my appetite has definitely returned. My total loss on the 0.25 pen has been 6lbs which I am pleased with. Having my appetite back has helped me rely on willpower to make sure I don't stray too far from the healthy habits I've been following over the last month. I did indulge a little at a family function which led to a 1/4lb gain which is minute given that I'm also awaiting a bowel movement 🤣

Meadowdog · 21/11/2023 18:51

Well, I spoke to soon when I said I wasn't having side effects. It's the day after I took my first .25 dose and I've been feeling nauseous for the past few hours, culminating in (sorry) projectile vomiting up everything I've eaten since last night. I had similar with saxenda when I was on that. It really sucks being so sensitive to these medications and I don't think it's normal. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? At least getting sick has mostly relieved the nausea.

AhBiscuits · 21/11/2023 19:33

That sucks, I wonder why people's bodies react so differently. Just mild nausea for me so far.

EweCee · 21/11/2023 21:03

My weight loss has slowed down on the 0.5 injection, and am just under 10kgs (so about 21lbs) down since starting 7.5 weeks ago. The slow down has also coincided with going back to work after the first month I was off work and since returning I’ve been doing less exercise and have more stress 😕That being said, I can go all day without eating, just have a two coffees with oat milk during the day, and then just eat dinner (not particularly healthy approach though!) so only just hitting 1000 calories a day at the moment. Still making healthy food choices though which is good. So slightly frustrated the weight loss has slowed slightly but at least it’s still going in the right direction of down! Only another 20kgs to go….. 😳

Sorry that some people are suffering so much from side effects. Aside from the constipation (I take sodium picosulphate syrup to overcome but it doesn’t always work quickly) my side effects disappeared after the first week or so so maybe some of yours will too?

Goneistheday · 21/11/2023 23:43

I've taken my second dose of 0.25 this afternoon. I've lost half a stone this week (I've got a lot to lose though) and I could definitely feel the effects whether it was psychological or not!

I've had a few side effects - mostly a few headaches, some nausea and easy to retch. Has anyone else felt really irritable with it? I could take somebody's head off this week quite easily😂

amusedbush · 22/11/2023 12:03

@EweCee this might sound bonkers but your weight loss might speed up if you eat more, or at least have one bigger food day if you can manage it.

Last week I forgot to track my food properly so thought I had more calories left than I did. I ended up eating 300 calories over my daily limit but dropped a whole pound on the scales overnight😅

ApoodlecalledPenny · 22/11/2023 12:46

I find drinking water is the single best thing for constipation with me - and I mean litres of the stuff. I’m also really thirsty on wegovy (3 weeks in on .25). I’m having at least 3 litres of water a day, plus herbal tea.

EweCee · 22/11/2023 13:35

@amusedbush thanks, you might be right, I’ll give it a go. Am working from home today so will have a proper lunch 😀

flouncymcflouncerson · 22/11/2023 15:05

Afternoon everyone. I can’t judge weight loss til the end of the week but I’ve definitely been eating more than I should need to. I’m on 1.g of wegovy now but just not feeling any kind of appetite suppression at all. It’s strange as on the lower doses from juniper I was doing so well.

the only side effect I’ve had is constipation and at times it’s very bad and I’ve been nearly two weeks without going to the loo. GP prescribed me senna and I’ve been taking that daily but could definitely do with some other options to try out!

221BBakerSt · 22/11/2023 15:44

@flouncymcflouncerson I found great, but gentle, relief from constipation with magnesium citrate which a few others had recommended. I have electrolytes and 1000mg of vit C daily too, plus a small glass of prune juice.

I’m very tempted to stay on 0.25 for longer than four weeks as the appetite suppression really couldn’t be better…has anyone else done this?

Try lactulose from the pharmacy x

SofieM0 · 22/11/2023 19:29

@221BBakerSt I think a few people have. I’m going to stay on 0.5 for an extra 4 weeks too. It’s been tough with side effects but good weight loss and feel the appetite suppression more. I’d like to give it another 4 weeks to get used to it before moving up again. But I won’t move up if it’s still working and I’m losing weight.

I'm doing an extra month on 0.5 too. I'm away loads over the Christmas period and don't want to risk feeling more ill when travelling with kids etc.

SofieM0 · 22/11/2023 19:46

@Tailfeather yep same, I’m travelling for 4 weeks and I just don’t want to be ill.

and a quick update for anyone that is travelling abroad, you can get a travel letter with each prescription in case you need it for security. And doctor also advised can keep all pens opened or unopened (as long as have lid on) out of fridge for 28 days. I think I’ll also put in a medical travel cooler too to be safe.

Mookie81 · 22/11/2023 23:11

I've been constipated for days so took 2 dulcolax earlier.
Poonami but feel better and lighter! 🤩

amusedbush · 23/11/2023 08:52

@221BBakerSt Your talk of prune juice has just triggered a hilarious/disgusting memory. My dad is no longer allowed prunes after he thought a bowl of them with natural yoghurt would make a nice dessert, and my parents practically had to brick up the bathroom by the time he was finished 😂

@SofieM0 I'm going to Japan next spring (a lifelong dream of mine, I'm so excited!) and my Wegovy won't be an issue; up to one month's worth of self-injectable medication is fine and doesn't need to be declared. However, my ADHD meds are another story. Before we go, I need to apply to the Japanese government for a customs certificate giving me permission to (essentially) import narcotics. And I can only take enough to cover the days we are there, otherwise I'd need to apply for permission to export them back to the UK 😧

CaramelEmporium · 23/11/2023 11:48

I had awful side effects@Meadowdog to the extent that I’ve only ever had one shot! I took it on the Wednesday morning, headaches/nausea Thursday daytime, chronic D&V all night Thursday and intermittently thro into Friday. About 3 hrs sleep over two days as I was too ill to even sleep. Felt half human by the Saturday. I had zero appetite but forced myself to eat a couple of things like a handful of berries and a ginger biscuit, but I could literally keep nothing down including water. Maybe my body would’ve adapted but I felt so so I’ll the first time I wasn’t prepared to chance it.

Meadowdog · 23/11/2023 13:36

Oh that's sounds absolutely miserable @CaramelEmporium I'm so sorry to hear about it and what a shame you had to give up the Wegovy. I don't blame you at all and would have given up too. It sounds like your experience was even worse than mine which was the worst I'd heard of thus far! Thank you for telling me about it as I thought I was probably the only one.

Everyone seems to say .25 isn't even a therapeutic dose. Well it certainly is for me. I've lost 2.5 pounds in 4 days. Of course, most of that will be water weight from getting sick. So the evening of day 2 was awful. Day 3 (yesterday) was ok though. I just ate crackers and a banana until dinnertime when DH made macaroni and cheese. I had about half my usual portion size and was worried I would feel sick again. Felt absolutely fine and am fine today also. I don't have much appetite but have eaten a small yoghurt, a banana, a bit of popcorn and some cottage cheese so far. And I'm taking electrolytes and drinking lots of fluid.

My next injection is due Monday but I leave on a work trip Tuesday, back on Thursday evening. So I think I'm going to inject half a dose (.125!) this Sunday morning so a day earlier than my next dose is due. Then I'll do the other half dose on Friday morning. I don't want to risk a full dose on Monday as on Tuesday I can't afford to be yacking my guts up. I'll be in a colleague's car travelling down the motorway and he's a big car geek - he'd never forgive me!

So hopefully my plan will work and I'll ease into this drug gradually. I definitely love the weight loss and the fact I'm not hungry and obsessed with food anymore. And hopefully the nausea doesn't come back if I just take it very, very easy.

Tailfeather · 23/11/2023 19:22

Did anyone used to laugh at serving suggestions (eg packets or ready meals that serve 2)? I know can only eat half of a serving for 1! Never thought I would see the day.

221BBakerSt · 23/11/2023 20:05

@amusedbush that’s definitely not a dinner party dessert!

I’ve eaten very little today, just not interested. Had a small portion of bite size shredded wheat with mango & blueberries, a protein bar, and a pack of baby plum tomatoes. Think I’ll have a pint of water and just go to bed, there’s no point forcing myself to eat more.

Week 3 update:

1.8lbs off this week, so that's 9.2lbs so far. I injected my first dose of 0.5mg this morning, one week early; I'm not expecting miracles but I'm hoping the hunger eases off soon. It may be my imagination but I feel like a bout of heartburn is coming on, which I didn't experience on 0.25.

I also took my measurements and I'm shocked that in just three weeks I have lost 5cm from my chest and 6cm from both my waist and my hips.

I'm WFH today and it's DH's day off. He popped in to say hello and was messing around, taking photos of me sitting at my desk. I did my usual protesting that I'd look awful but I can't stop looking at the photos. I look really different already; a lot of the puffiness has deflated and I look a lot more angular around my face/shoulders/arms. I still have about 50lbs to lose but it's nice to see progress!

Tired and a bit meh at the world today. Went for a nice walk, made vegetable lasagne and brownies for everyone for dinner, did loads of housework but feel very unmotivated. Here’s hoping tomorrow’s more pleasant…and planning a good dog walk.
Today’s food: shredded wheat with fruit, a yoghurt, a salt and chilli wrap.
Tomorrow’s food: protein shake, lentil soup, egg salad
