I feel much better today, thank you. I do feel a bit hungrier though, but still not craving sweet things which is good. I checked my calories for the last couple of days and I think I need to make myself eat a little bit more.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 17/11/2023 12:01

For those finding they lost on 0.25 but not on 0.5, my suggestion would be that I always find diets fairly easy and effective for a month and then massively struggle. So perhaps it’s that cycle kicking in for you, and the effects at 0.25 were perhaps mostly psychological (plus most of us seem to have the worst side effects in the first month, which also curbs hunger). As others have said, stick with it, we need to be thinking long term!

Tindrum · 17/11/2023 14:50

@TryAgainWithFeeling I was one of those people feeling less effect from 0.5. I do still feel full mid way through a meal though the hunger beforehand is not quite as pronounced as the 0.25 but as you say that does make sense as my body has now had 7 weeks to get used to it. Just thankful I haven’t had some of the extremes felt by others, I feel for them. I did consider that I might be slightly dehydrated and thought I’d try an electrolyte drink once a day. Not sure if it coincidental but I have gone down quite a few pounds since trying that and had a much easier time on the loo.

Nootkah · 17/11/2023 15:08

@Lucydoods1 No the pens have different amounts in. The wegovy pens have exactly the right amount, no extra doses.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 17/11/2023 17:56

@Tindrum I need to get better at the electrolytes! I have previously found they really helped.

Disappointedsofa · 18/11/2023 08:57

I've just started the 1.0 mg dose yesterday, feeling ok , was worried I was going to get all sorts of awful side effects like I did with the very first dose but I've been fine, just the usual nausea which I'm used to.
Weighed myself this morning and I'm 10st 1.
I was 11 stone when I started and that was 8 weeks ago. I plateaued for about 3 weeks but then it started to go down again .
I've lost on average 1.5 pounds a week.
No way could I have done this and sustained it for 8 weeks without Wegovy.
I will be so excited to see the 9 stone mark on the scales as it has been years since I saw the number 9 on the scales.
I've lost 13 pounds already and I'm delighted.
I will admit, I'm prone to anxiety and I do have niggling fears about the long term effects of this medicine (the black box warning makes me a bit nervous) but I was obviously willing to take the risk as I wanted to lose the weight so much and totally unable to do it myself due to my binge eating.

EweCee · 18/11/2023 09:12

Well done @Disappointedsofa! Good to hear you don't feel too bad. I am two weeks behind and in the middle of the plateau so hoping to see the same as you that I start to come down again (although I weigh a lot more than you and aiming to get to 12 stone 😊) - what helped you get out of the plateau stage? Or was it just time?

amusedbush · 18/11/2023 12:39

Yesterday was my third dose of 0.25mg and I'm feeling fine so far. A little bit of dizziness and weakness this morning but I have PoTS so that's par for the course here. I lost 3.6lbs, so that is 7.4lbs in the last two weeks. I was hoping to get under 200lbs (14st 4) this week and I squeaked in at 199.8lbs.

I feel slightly less hungry but I'm not sure I can put it down to Wegovy. 0.25mg isn't even close to a therapeutic dose and I don't appear to be sensitive to the medication, so my body is probably adjusting to the reduction in calories/sugar/fat. Regardless, I'm just grateful that I'm not as hungry and the daily headaches have subsided!

SofieM0 · 18/11/2023 14:31

Congratulations on the milestone @amusedbush !

amusedbush · 18/11/2023 14:51

Thank you @SofieM0 😁

Mookie81 · 18/11/2023 17:53

Lost 2 pds this week, which I'm happy with as the food noise was louder and I slipped a few times. 6 pds so far over 2 weeks.
Took dose 3 of 0.25 this morning, plan to order the 0.5 before week 4, although it's before payday 🙄🙄.

flouncymcflouncerson · 19/11/2023 20:03

I’ve gained weight in the last wee while. Went from 14.8 to 15.2 :(

not amused but I had alcohol and snacks on a girls weekend.

3rd injection of 1.7mg tomorrow and decided to stay on the same dose for another 4 weeks, part cost and part just would like to taper up slowly.

We're pretty much the same schedule 😊.

MrsWimpy · 19/11/2023 21:56

I'm about to take my last .25 dose and I think it's working for me at that dose.

I have the next one in the next dose ready. Can I just take half a dose and stay lower for a while? I assume it's just a case of working out the clicks?

Tailfeather · 20/11/2023 08:32

Weigh in day. Still going slow and steady with the weight loss and trying not to get too envious of those who have lost stones in their first month.

Week 1: -3lbs.
Week 2: -1lb.
Week 3: 0lb. (On holiday, so indulged).
Week 4: -2lbs.
Week 5: -2lbs. (Total loss 8lbs).

Starting BMI: 32.7
Current BMI: 31.7

I believe that would work, yes. My understanding is that in the UK wegovy comes in flextouch pens unlike the USA where the pens are single dose which is why there's conflicting information about doing it this way online. And I know you can stay at a lower dose if you want to, either because it's working well at that dose or because of side effects.

amusedbush · 20/11/2023 11:44

@Mookie81 Ahh nice, we can cheer each other on 👯

@MrsWimpy If you have a 0.5 pen and you want to stay on 0.25, it's straightforward as you can just count half the clicks. However, if anyone wanted to save money by buying a 2.4 pen and splitting it into much lower doses so it lasts longer*, they would need to work it out based on the concentration. I stole this info from Reddit:

One click is 0.01 mL. You can use that to calculate clicks for any pen and dose.
clicks = dose / (concentration * 0.01 mL)

The concentrations for Wegovy FlexTouch pens are:

  • 0.68 mg/mL for 0.25 mg dose pen
  • 1.34 mg/mL for 0.5 mg dose pen
  • 1.34 mg/mL for 1.0 mg dose pen
  • 2.27 mg/mL for 1.7 mg dose pen
  • 3.2 mg/mL for 2.4 mg dose pen

*The advice is that a pen, once opened, lasts six weeks in the fridge but apparently it's safe to use for a little while after that as long as the liquid is kept cold and doesn't look cloudy.

amusedbush · 20/11/2023 15:22

Has anyone titrated up early? I have only found a few anecdotes about it and I'm such a stickler for rules, I'm conflicted!

I know 0.25 is a super low dose and it's not meant to do anything except get your body used to it but, overwhelmingly, other people seem to feel the effects straight away. I'm three doses in and feeling absolutely nothing. I'm hungry and pushing through with calorie counting on willpower alone because I know it will kick in eventually but I feel like I'm getting hungrier Confused

I'm considering starting 0.5mg on Friday, one week early. That would leave me one 0.25mg dose that I could tack on at the end to make 0.75mg, as a stepping stone before 1mg.

Tailfeather · 20/11/2023 16:07

@amusedbush I was tempted to do this, but didn't in the end as I had some stuff that week and was worried that I might feel rough, so can't help I'm afraid. I didn't feel anything on 0.25. I've done 2 shots of 0.5 now and have definitely had more side effects. Although nothing horrific.

amusedbush · 20/11/2023 17:25

@Tailfeather at least I know I’m not bonkers for considering it, though!

I’m firmly on the fence about it for now so I guess I’ll see how I feel on Friday.

Meadowdog · 21/11/2023 11:10

@amusedbush I really don't see anything wrong with what you're proposing to do (apart from the added cost if that bothers you) and there's no reason you should have to calorie count and be hungry. I think our responses to this drug are so individual and the way the doses ramp up is certainly designed to be on the cautious side for people who do respond strongly.

It's only day 2 of Wegovy for me but when I was on Saxenda I was definitely what they call a super-responder. I lost all the weight I needed to while staying on the lowest dose but suffering bad side effects. When I came off it I gained all the weight back and them some which is why I'm now on Wegovy!

Although it's early days I don't have bad side effects from Wegovy only a very slight amount of nausea during the night. But my appetite is definitely reduced already as I had my usual breakfast but there's no way I could face lunch anytime soon, whereas normally I'd be ravenous by now. So I guess maybe you and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to response? If my Saxenda experience is anything to go by I will probably stay on .25 for a few months (and will save money by buying a .5 pen to last 2 months) which will be nice!

Tailfeather · 21/11/2023 14:00

Does anyone take anything to avoid constipation? I've been taking senna but just read you shouldn't take it for longer than a week.

SofieM0 · 21/11/2023 14:41

@Tailfeather ive been taking H&B colon cleanser each night but it’s seems to have lost its efficacy as I’m back to 3/4 days without going. I found the two days where I ate more than usual (on weekends away) I couldn’t stop going so I’m trying to worry less but starting to feel uncomfortable again. Will be following with interest for any recommendations!

SofieM0 · 21/11/2023 14:44

My weigh in today -3lb after week 1 on 0.5. Happy with that as it was tough!! It’s been a much better 24 hours on week 2 of 0.5 so at least side effects have reduced.

Pre Wegovy loss -7lb
Week 1 (0.25) -2lb
Week 2 -3lb
Week 3 zero loss
Week 4 zero loss
Week 5 (0.5) -3lb

Meadowdog · 21/11/2023 14:49

With Saxenda I took dulcoease (not dulcolax) three times a day. I find it works really well to keep things moving and it's very gentle, unlike senna. If I hadn't taken it I would have ended up in hospital from constipation, it was that bad. I'm taking it again now with Wegovy.
