My first pen is arriving on Thursday.

I have a couple of questions if anyone knows.

I had to fill in my weight and send a photograph to get a prescription. Will they let me continue ordering once I am no longer obese (which will be in just over a stone)?

When I ordered it said it was strongly recommended that you don't drink alcohol. I don't drink much at all, maybe one on Friday night and one with dinner on a Sunday. But I have a couple of Christmas parties coming up. Is drinking while on it a big no no?

I've actually gone off booze

I've had 2 parties and have been fine. No bad side effects but I am only on 0.25. Took my last 0.25 today. Excited about graduating to 0.5!!

Tailfeather · 06/11/2023 10:06

I was on holiday last week so ate out a lot. No loss. But happy with no gain!

Week 1: -3lbs.
Week 2: -1lb.
Week 3: 0lb. Total -4lbs.

Have done my last 0.25 jab. Excited about 0.5 on Sunday!

Yes, you will be able to keep ordering it. I had to send photos too and the message from the reviewing doctor said I'd have to send another for a three month review, then annually thereafter. You need to have a BMI over 30 (or 27 with comorbidities) to have it prescribed initially but you can stay on it until you're at your goal weight - and beyond.

With regard to booze, there is no medical interaction that puts your health at risk. However, your blood sugar drops while your body is processing alcohol and Wegovy also lowers your blood sugar, so drinking might make you feel a bit ropey. They recommend that you stay away from alcohol simply because it contains a lot of calories and reduces your self-control, so you might snack more.

BrendaLee · 06/11/2023 10:17

@EweCee I was so nervous about my first dose I got my husband to do it (I had my eyes closed). Didn't feel a thing.
The needle is so fine it doesn't hurt at all!
Now I just jab it in my thigh - anywhere that there's fat will do and on me that means I have a lot of choice...

amusedbush · 06/11/2023 10:33

It has been three days since my first 0.25 injection and - touch wood - I've had no side effects. I have had a sore head the past two evenings but let's be frank: that's just my body detoxing the mounds of sugar it's used to Blush

I hate drinking water (autistic - it's a sensory thing) and have been dehydrated since the early 90s but I keep reading that hydration is key on Wegovy. I bought little sachets of flavoured electrolyte powders and I have been keeping my fluids up, so now I'm peeing constantly, including getting up in the middle of the night.

Food-wise, I have stuck to soups, fruit, toast, protein shakes, yoghurts, etc. I want to avoid anything too heavy until I get the lay of the land. I prayed that I'd be one of the lucky people who feel stuffed straight away but alas, I've got no appetite suppression yet. I know that's normal but I'm very much looking forward to it kicking in!

Ashwater · 06/11/2023 10:35

First shot of 0.5 this morning. I’m going to New York in a few weeks time and bought a skirt in a size down which I’m really hoping to wear.

on .25 I have been fine during the day but by about 9pm, even after a proper dinner I start feeling peckish. I’m also worried that I’m not doing enough to change my habits, rather just eating smaller portions of normal food rather than being on a diet. Anyone else feel like this?

Tailfeather · 06/11/2023 13:16

@Ashwater let us know how 0.5 goes!

I haven't had much appetite suppression. Hoping it will kick in with higher doses. 0.25 is only 10% of the proper dose. So I'm hopeful! 🤞🤞 Some people I follow have lost loads on the higher doses but hadn't lost much on 0.25. Although my sister and BIL have both lost over a stone in 3 weeks. I'm quite jealous!!!

EweCee · 06/11/2023 14:31

@ashwater I had appetite suppression from the 0.25 injection and on the odd occasion that I was hungry/ peckish, it was late at night too. (Although my shitty day on Friday meant I wanted to eat even though not hungry so I found my trigger!) I have lost just over a stone in 4 weeks on the 0.25injection and started the 0.5 injection on Friday night. Had to force myself to eat at the weekend, not even getting near my 1200 calories daily limit! I hope the weight just slides off me from now on 🤣

Shewhobecamethesun · 06/11/2023 20:18

@Ashwater I feel exactly the same. Before I would have my breakfast at 7am then be hungry by 10 when I'd have a snack, lunch at 12.30, come home from work at 4 and snack, then have dinner and then snack again at 9pm.
Today (day 6!) I didn't eat anything until 11 as I just wasn't hungry enough to stop what I was doing. And even then all I had was a cereal bar and an apple. I actually ate my packed lunch for dinner but I've still been getting the munchies in the evening.

The difference I've found though is before, when I got hungry, I couldn't focus on anything other then being hungry and what and when I would be eating. Whereas now, I find I notice im getting hungry but think I'll have something I've after finished x but then I find job y that needs doing and then z and suddenly an hour or two has passed and I have to force myself to stop to get something to eat.
I guess that's the food noise that everyone refers to

FattyPattyBumBum · 06/11/2023 20:18

4th injection for me yesterday
Last week was 14st 7
Yesterday 14st 6 - I'm not surprised it's only 1lb as I had a bad day on Friday and ate rubbish as a result and was very ill after...so lesson learnt! Also just right before my period so again hold on to weight around this time.
I'm struggling with the constipation. Anyone got anything that works, I've tried drinking a lot and I just feel bloated...it was ahem 'cleared' by the eating of rubbish, but don't want to pursue this method again 😔

norma1980 · 07/11/2023 05:10

If you get really hungry late at night rather than during the day on the injection is it better to take the injection in the evening or late night rather than morning?

Meadowdog · 07/11/2023 05:59

@FattyPattyBumBum when I was on Saxenda.I took dulcoease every day. Otherwise my constipation was so bad I would have ended up in hospital, not joking.

I'm now.looking to start wegovy as I've gained back all the weight I lost on Saxenda and.more. Does anyone know a good, reliable place that has 0.25 in stock please? I tried Superdrug and got all the way through their questionnaire only to find they don't deliver and the location to pick up was over 100 miles away!

I got mine from Zava - it was literally the only place I could find it a couple of weeks ago.

It turns out Zava also provides the Asda Online Doctor service and they are one of the cheapest places so I ordered my 0.5 pen from Asda yesterday. A couple of weeks before I'd planned to but I took advantage while they had stock!

Kickstartplease · 07/11/2023 17:41

I got mine from Zava as well started today, ordered Sunday, photos yesterday received today - quite nervous.
I am 17st 4lbs but am tall.
According to BMI calculator I need to loose between 30-50 kg which is 4st 7lbs - 7st 8lbs. Hoping I don't feel too poorly as I have a physical job

Mookie81 · 07/11/2023 19:49

I've got 3 boxes of chocolates sitting there from my birthday and haven't opened any of them, don't even feel like it.
It's like some mad mind control! 😆

Meadowdog · 07/11/2023 20:01

Thank you @amusedbush and @Kickstartplease , I will take a look at Zava. Good luck on your first day, @Kickstartplease, I hope it works well for you with minimal side effects.

SofieM0 · 08/11/2023 09:27

Hi everyone
last week on 0.25 for me. I haven’t lost this week but I have been away for 5 days and eaten more and not the best so I didn’t expect to but I haven’t gained. I also was fine with alcohol too but felt nauseous for the first time since starting which was a combination of over eating, eating crap and alcohol. Otherwise still fine.

I’m on week 6 now (2 weeks pre Wegovy to prep) and I’m 12lb down altogether which I’m pleased with as I wanted to do a sustainable 1lb a week. I think this next stone will be tough but my 0.5 is on order and hoping it will kick in more!

gibegobble · 08/11/2023 12:21

I've just had my second 0.25 injection. I've lost 2.5lb which I'm really happy with. I've been eating what I usually would but much smaller portions and feeling full much quicker (even leaving food on the plate Shock) I have still had the odd small cake or biscuit but don't go on to eat the whole pack which is unheard of!

I want to stay on and lose 1lb a week until I get to goal. I lost 12lb with Saxenda but the nausea was really getting to me so stopped. Plus it made me feel weirdly down and miserable.

So far had a couple of fleeting feelings of nausea but that's it!

Ashwater · 08/11/2023 12:51

So day 3 post my first 0.5 jab and I’ve been feeling awful! I’ve had heartburn and nausea and just feel totally wiped out. I’m hoping it’ll settle once my body get used to the higher dose.

Tailfeather · 08/11/2023 15:18

Oh no @Ashwater . Hope you feel better soon. I go up to 0.5 this weekend. X

regularmumnotacoolmum · 08/11/2023 21:23

On Monday I had a work dinner to attend. I didn't overeat or have any dessert but I ate a normal sized meal as I didn't want to look out of place and draw attention to myself. Come Tuesday I was violently ill with diarrhoea, sulphur burps and sickness. I definitely didn't have food poisoning so can only assume I ate too much and my body couldn't handle it. Today hasn't been as bad but I've felt tired, had headache and felt unwell. All I have managed to eat today is a slice of toast. I vomited my coffee! I'm due to take my 3rd 0.25 on Friday and was wondering if you automatically move up to 0.5 after week 4 or should I stay on 0.25 a bit longer?

I think it's entirely up to you. I intend to stay on the lowest effective dose and only move up if it stops working.

It's probably a bit of a learning curve, figuring out what food and how much you can tolerate. Might skip a dose at Christmas 😬

TryAgainWithFeeling · 08/11/2023 21:58

I listened to the Zoe podcast episode on ozempic/Wegovy today, definitely worth a listen. One of the points was that it’s important to find the dose that works for the individual, so @regularmumnotacoolmum I’d say don’t go up unless you’re ready.

I’ve started 0.5 now, and was pleasantly surprised that my nausea side effects have largely gone away! On 0,25 I was feeling pretty rough the day after injection, on 0.5 I’m not.

Also feeling like it’s starting to kick in. I just feel satisfied by an average meal. Whereas normally I could eat more or less constantly - three courses might fill me up, but half an hour later I’d snack again. Now, I just feel pleasantly satisfied. It’s very strange, but I can only assume this is how many naturally slim people feel! It makes me really feel like taking this was the right decision - it’s becoming so obvious that I don’t have the naturally full hormonal feedback loop.

Those feeling hungry late evening - could it be habit, boredom, etc rather than real hunger? Is it worth distraction activities, bubble bath etc, to see if it passes?
