It feels like a life time ago I joined a mumsnet thread when I was obease and in my mid twenties.

With support from that thread, 100 in jokes and a patented claim to being "The best thread on mumsnet" TM I lost 6 stone.

Then life, babies, the pandemic and a million other things happened and I am dangerously dancing with being overweight again.

If any one new or old would like to join me in my new mumsnet weight loss journey I'll be here, any mode any method any size I am happy for the company.

@BitOutOfPractice welcome back. Hope you had an amazing time!!

@poorpaws you should feel proud rather than ashamed. It took me years to give up smoking...I'd quit then start again round and round. Eventually I went to the NHS stop smoking service and I remember saying that I felt like a failure because I'd lapsed so many times that I no longer believed in myself. She said, "you're not a failure, you're incredible. However many times it doesn't work out, you keep on coming back and trying again. You never give up." That shift in mindset made such a difference to me (and I haven't smoked now for over 10 years). It's been 2 years and despite setbacks you are still trying. Be proud of that 😉

Janefx40 · 21/08/2023 20:22

@FireflyGirl welcome. Hope the coil removal helps. I don't know too much about it but sounds like too much of a coincidence not to be related

@pickledandpuzzled sounds really sensible to change attitude to food. I definitely need to do this too

FireflyGirl · 22/08/2023 22:15

How has everyone's day been?

I'm only on day 2, so still pretty motivated! Had another good day food-wise:

B: Shreddies with almond milk, apple
L: chicken salad, sweet chilli snacks
D: Chicken and mushroom crumble
S: Malteser truffles

I usually have some form of sweet treat after my dinner, I've found this helps me control snacking during the day.

ayegazumba · 22/08/2023 22:33

Hi all, been a bit quiet in my first week on weight watchers but weighed in today and I've lost 3.25lb this week (the 0.25 is v.important!) I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. I thought It'd be more considering the drastic change in diet but let's see how this week goes.....

SushiSuave · 22/08/2023 22:34

@FireflyGirl chicken and mushroom crumble sounds delicious! Can you post/link recipe please?

HairsprayBabe · 22/08/2023 23:07

Sorry I've been quiet today it's my non working day with DC and it always ends up being busier than when I am at work.

Bopped back to 11.2 this morning so that fast day did it's job!

Had lovely play date out with the DC and thank god my friends all decided to have children at the same time as me 🤣 coffee and a yogurt bircher pot at the play village so nothing too damaging there

Then DH is still sore from surgery so he had spaghetti hoops poor bugger and I had a BOL soup that was lovely, not the same without bread though

Haven't drank enough water today, its DHs birthday tomorrow no idea what we are doing food wise as he isn't in the mood for eating out while he is so uncomfortable and sore.

@ayegazumba the 0.25 is indeed very important!!

@SushiSuave it's a Hello Fresh recipe, here. DH and DC are dairy intolerant, so I sub the dairy for oat fraiche and vegan cheese and that brings the calories down to 450 per portion. I usually chuck in sweetcorn and green beans as well, just to up the veggie intake. They recommend serving with rice, but you can use cauliflower rice, more veggies, or whatever substitute you would normally have.

@HairsprayBabe my non working days are the same! Happy birthday to your DH!

Good Morning Slenderistas!

I did write a post for yesterday but clearly didn't hit send as it seems to be missing...

Anyhow, the good news on yesterday's post was my scales registered 12st 8 yesterday and the same this morning. 😀

Who knew the power of Aldi protein puddings? I bought a few and they are quite big so not an evening thing but i can take my time eating one through an afternoon at work and it keeps me away from eating any other sweet or unhealthy things and the calories don't seem to be ridiculously high. Thank you for another great tip @HairsprayBabe

High stakes today however as I have drinks and curry evening tonight. .Thoughts are either a vegetarian curry dish or perhaps chicken tikka. I will try and read up on best options before I get there...

Not sure things will get any better this week but it feels like i can get a bit closer to my target weight eventually...

TVHubbyClaire · 23/08/2023 09:12

@FireflyGirl that recipe looks fab and possibly maybe easy enough even for me, thanks for sharing

Agreed, thanks@FireflyGirl. It sounds delicious!

pickledandpuzzled · 23/08/2023 14:07

I too have bought some protein puds,@TVHubbyClaire ! Yum.

I lost a lb at SW this am, which is nice as I have been following my 'unrestricted' approach. It gives me confidence for my trip next week.

Also I have done lots of shopping and planning for the next ten days. Lots of tasty things in to eat, and all the thinking done.

I'm not a natural planner, but do find it helps to have a few meals lined up even if not on a specific day.

Newbornmum · 23/08/2023 16:24

Hi All,

Currently trying to move as little as possible whilst typing this on my phone as DS is finally asleep on my lap and his fussy phase is still ongoing! I daren't move!

Thanks so much @HairsprayBabe for those links. They're definitley helpful and were really eye opening (and I'm not sure I'd have had the energy to do the research myself at the moment!) so much appreciated x

Another aldi recommendation from me would be their chocolate brownie low cal ice cream and their salted caramel one. Me and DH have been having them with cacao nibs which give them a bit of a chocolate chip type feel and a nice chocolate kick 🍫💕 They do a cookie dough one too which is on my list to try next! 😍

Feeling pretty darn hungry this week so trying to think what I can eat to feel a bit fuller. Am trying to up the protein and veggies. The baby carrier walking seems to be doing the trick and I've had a go at some diastasis recti safe postpartum ab work too. I haven't quite been brave enough to tackle any of the baby carrier workouts yet... I'm working up to it! Lol

Hope you're all having a good day and a good week so far 🌻🌻🌻

Newbornmum · 23/08/2023 16:25

poorpaws · 21/08/2023 07:48

@Newbornmum well done you, that's a great loss.

Thanks so much. I agree the last bit is the hardest for sure! You've done so well so far to get there though 🌻😊

Badhairday101 · 23/08/2023 22:57

Well done everyone!

After overindulging at the wedding I'm still 2lbs over what I was last week and I'm away at a festival all bank holiday so just trying to be extra good until Friday. I don't have much planned for September in terms of socialising so will be able to get back in a routine hopefully.

Strangely I've not had much movement on the scales over the past few weeks but I feel slimmer, my clothes are looser and my friend commented that I've lost weight so maybe something is happening.

I'd like to be a size 12 all over by the end of September. I'm currently a 12/14 on the bottom and 14 on the top. I think that's achievable.

Newbornmum · 24/08/2023 06:34

Hopped on the scales this morning to keep an eye on things and back up to 63.2 kilos (up 0.3 kilos/0.6lbs). Feeling pretty rubbish about it considering how hungry I've been. Not sure how I can eat less at the moment :/ x

FireflyGirl · 24/08/2023 08:27

@Newbornmum try not to be too disheartened. You'll probably have a whoosh soon, and 0.3 kilos is 300g. That could just be water retention!

I had a good day yesterday food-wise, and also managed to go swimming by myself for the first time in months! (Usually I have the DC with me, so I can't swim properly)

B/L: scrambled eggs, toast
D: Warm chilli jam chicken salad
S: Malteser truffles

FireflyGirl · 24/08/2023 08:28

@Newbornmum just a thought - are you eating enough? What's your daily calorie intake?

Newbornmum · 24/08/2023 09:24

@FireflyGirl thank you - yh you're right. It's 300g - definitley needed that perspective thanks 🌻 Sleep deprivation definitley not helping! Lol

I've been trying to avoid calorie counting and use a more trial and error approach because I've gotten quite obsessive over it in the past. I guess this is the error in the trial and error though. I'll have a think about it and reassess what strategy would be best. DS is only 7 weeks and I'd be happy to take the pressure off and be more relaxed (ish) with it if I wasn't set to be a bridesmaid in November 😔 I might need to just accept that I'll be 4 months postpartum and chill out a bit!

HairsprayBabe · 24/08/2023 14:46

Afternoon all,

DH had an ok birthday despite having a very sore mouth, we popped out for lunch I had a naked burrito bowl thing and nixed the rice too, swapped my usual yogurt lunch for dinner and came in at around 1200 cals i was saving space for a bit of cake but he didn't want one in the end.

didn't weigh this morning got distracted by a lost shoe drama, had yogurt and fruit for lunch and not sure about dinner might do a tofu salad thing, I've been eating a lot of separate stuff recently because of DHs mouth

@Newbornmum it will be water retention - my scales measure to the oz but I tend to ignore that part - so if I'm 11.2 it could be +/- a few oz but I cant split hairs or that way madness lies
I also found that when i was BF I could be measurably lighter after a feed - just a thought
I am in the crazy weigh naked on the same bathroom tile after the first wee but before i have eaten or drank anything club - so I am best ignored

Hi everyone,

Can I join you all? Had a checkup with the doctor and after lots of denial I am the heaviest weight I have ever been. Currently planning how to shift this and could do with the support!

FireflyGirl · 25/08/2023 19:28

👋 @HairsprayBabe

Didn't want to arrive with a fanfare and derail your thread!

I'm super proud of myself - yesterday I went swimming for exercise (I usually go with the kids so no chance of burning calories) for the first time in months! I couldn't work out how to turn off the swimming setting on my Fitbit afterwards, so Fitbit thinks I was swimming for 2 hours and burned 680 calories 🤣 I'm counting that as a NSV!

B: toast with spread
L: chicken salad, crisps
D: Meatballs with pasta, broccoli and sweetcorn
S: cereal bars, malteser truffle

FireflyGirl · 26/08/2023 20:39

Evening, how's everyone getting on with the weekend?

My food looks dodgy with a sausage sandwich and pizza and chips, but I had chicken sausages which were 66 calories for 2, and only half a pizza and a couple of fries. I don't feel left out, but have managed to keep within my calories for the day. Tomorrow could be interesting - we're at a family fun day which includes a picnic/lunch box with the ticket and I have no clue what is in it!

B: Shreddies with almond milk
L: Sausage sandwich, balsamic mushrooms
D: pizza, fries and salad
S: KitKat bites

Looking at my last few food diaries, I need to make sure I'm eating fruit when I'm at home. I always manage when I'm at work because I include it with my packing up, but when it's sat staring at me from the fruit bowl I seem to forget!

PetitPorpoise · 27/08/2023 09:26

Not a bad few days for me. Yesterday I had

L: scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and some sauteed cabbage
T: roast chicken with parsnips and new potatoes.

Snack was some raisins. Also went spinning for the first time in over a year and will be going again this morning.
