It feels like a life time ago I joined a mumsnet thread when I was obease and in my mid twenties.

With support from that thread, 100 in jokes and a patented claim to being "The best thread on mumsnet" TM I lost 6 stone.

Then life, babies, the pandemic and a million other things happened and I am dangerously dancing with being overweight again.

If any one new or old would like to join me in my new mumsnet weight loss journey I'll be here, any mode any method any size I am happy for the company.

@Newbornmum morning - the YouTuber SarahsDay has a postpartum excersize plan I believe - they reccomend waiting till your 6 week check to do anything too strenuous, longer if you had CS
She had a fairly traumatic birth with her first and ended up with a long term pelvic floor issue so lots of the plan focuses on healing as well as getting back into excersize

Good old me watching all these fitness bloggers and literally never doing excersize 😭😅

Just weighed in 1.5lbs down, been sick so not exercising or eating much so a bit of an odd one really!!

BitOutOfPractice · 15/08/2023 14:04

@Limonatamum hope you are feeling better now. At lease you got a loss...

pickledandpuzzled · 15/08/2023 14:08

Nice chunk of mouldy cheese with my lunch today Grin

HairsprayBabe · 15/08/2023 17:21

I've been to an English Heritage place with DM DF and the DC today they café was our of all food except the kids packs and cake so I just sat po-faced with a flat white and now I am starving 😭

Hello all! Today was good- got in lots of steps with a friend. Had a large egg salad for lunch and then fish and potatoes for dinner. How is everyone else?

TVHubbyClaire · 15/08/2023 19:57

I have just been for a walk, actually managed four and a half miles in just over an hour.

M and S " healthy for you" with a side salad coming up for dinner.

I doubt scales will be my friend in the morning and have dinner at an Indian restaurant tomorrow night with drinks first...not promising for a loss this week🙃

SushiSuave · 15/08/2023 22:03

Hi everyone, I've had a good day today and went for my evening walk this evening which has stopped me snacking on the sofa! Let's see how long I can keep this up...

Newbornmum · 15/08/2023 22:04

Thanks @HairsprayBabe for the recommendation 🙂🌻 I'll have a look and see. I'd heard of her but didn't know about the plans. My birth was pretty awful but makes me feel very grateful that my pelvic floor seems to be ok.

@pickledandpuzzled I need to get on the mouldy cheese bandwagon... Had a look at the label on my greek joghurt and turns out there are no live cultures in this one whatsoever 🤦

Today has been good. I put DS in his carrier and we did an hours walk. Feels like quite a workout with him in there! Have had some pizza with lots of chopped veggies and salsa for dinner and fruit, chia seeds and greek joghurt for lunch and a mocha. I need to come up with some really easy snacks/lunches that are protein and veggie heavy but can just be pre-made and grabbed out of the fridge while running round after baby. Any suggestions much appreciated 😊🌷

Limonatamum · 15/08/2023 22:14

Guys I just had a herbal tea instead of chocolate or wine! Proud moment!

Limonatamum · 15/08/2023 22:21

@Newbornmum make ahead lunch ideas! Kind of thinking for me too cos I end up grabbing toast most of the time! How old is your little one? Mine is 1 on the 3rd sept!
cous cous veg & chicken, tuna light mayo in a sandwich or jacket potato, or maybe Soup when it gets colder

pickledandpuzzled · 16/08/2023 08:59

Is that possible, @Newbornmum ? If it needs to be kept in the fridge it has live cultures. They just don't specify which.

The long life yogurts aren't live.

I'll Check though

TVHubbyClaire · 16/08/2023 09:36

Wednesday morning and 2 positives

Scales were kinder than expected and showed me 12st 9 and a half this morning. Not earth shattering but could be oh so worse...

2nd positive is that my work dinner is next week not tonight so i still have a chance at a positive week. 😉

DS now coming round as he is just back from his holiday with mum. Not sure what I will do for food with him tonight but will try and keep it sensible.

I don't seem to manage 16:8 more a 15:9 for me. When in office i always try to eat nothing in the mornings. This is much more difficult when working from home as the toaster is a huge temptation.

HairsprayBabe · 16/08/2023 11:28

Excellent self restraint there @Limonatamum

@TVHubbyClaire we got rid of our toaster - it broke and we never replaced it it always seems like far too much effort to heat the grill for a bit of toast so i am far less tempted now

Scales were very well behaved for me this morning 11.3 but most of that will be from sugar and salt bloat leaving my system still I am all ways happy to see shrinking digits.

@pickledandpuzzled i cant stand scary blue cheese does brie count as it is "mould ripened" but not blue?

I am drinking chia water today apparently the little seeds swell up in your tummy and stop you from feeling ravenous - we shall see how they go!

@Newbornmum she has had her controversies (what influencer hasn't) but her workout plans are always well received

@SushiSuave that is a great idea, I always turn into a slug in the evening would be good to try and get some steps in before the end of the day

Onwards and downwards!

pickledandpuzzled · 16/08/2023 11:43

Yes Brie and Camembert count!

pickledandpuzzled · 16/08/2023 11:47

Though I could be wrong... still looking!

fermenterskitchen.com/11-types-of-cheese-that-contain-probiotics/

I have a book somewhere called the dirty diet by Kate someone. I go from memory of her.

TVHubbyClaire · 16/08/2023 12:08

@HairsprayBabe woww... that is a radical move, i will need to find some other way and limit my toast rather than quit altogether. A toasted bagel is too much a part of my life. I guess i need to put it in the "treat" column rather than everyday. 11st 3 is a good number for today and you don't need to worry how it was reached😀

Badhairday101 · 16/08/2023 21:47

I've been sticking to 1800 calories and it is definitely working, I've lost 10lbs in the last month.
I have struggled in the past because I would just estimate portion sizes. I'm now weighing and measuring everything that passes my lips. It's shown me I'm not actually not an anomaly that just can't lose weight and I was infact eating way more than I thought.
I've been full because I have been eating lots of veg and protein.
I'm going to a wedding at the weekend and will just eat and drink whatever I want and then get back to it on Monday.

@HairsprayBabe I've just bought chia seeds to try to increase my fiber but had no idea what to do with them. I might give chia water a try.

Limonatamum · 16/08/2023 22:01

@Badhairday101 wow sounds like youre smashing it! I think I need to do the same, i nibble on so much crap!
I love chia pudding :) have you done any C25K? I haven’t had a chance to do one yet!

WILTYjim · 16/08/2023 22:04

@Badhairday101 awesome work!!

Badhairday101 · 16/08/2023 22:28

@Limonatamum thank you, it really was eye opening weighing everything. I thought I'd been sticking to 1500 calories for months and not losing anything but I think from weighing it was probably closer to 2200. It's definitely made me more aware of what I eat rather than pinching a few crisps and finishing off my kids toast 😂.

I've just made chia pudding after looking on TikTok for things to do with chia seeds. I'm excited to try it in the morning.

No, me neither I just keep on putting it off.

Badhairday101 · 16/08/2023 22:29

I've just gone through a breakup and that is definitely helping with the motivation. I'm putting my heartbreak energy in to this 😂.

Pancakebatter · 17/08/2023 07:30

I replaced the battery on my scales as it was flashing uo low. The first new battery kept it working for one day! The second the same. Has anyone else had this? I think the batteries might be low as I’ve had them a while but surely they would also make the machine flash up ‘low’? I’m wondering whether to get a new machine:

pickledandpuzzled · 17/08/2023 08:20

I have that @Pancakebatter. I tend to rotate batteries because they all work for a while then stop, then work again. Maybe the power needed is so little, the line between working and not is very wide IYSWIM. They sit in it.

Re chia seeds, they are great mixed with frozen fruit- they make it jammy. So a glass of frozen berries with a teaspoon of seeds, allowed to defrost then given a good stir- the seed soaks up the juice and makes the whole thing gooey.

I missed the reference to chia water. I need to know what that is!

WestrayWife · 17/08/2023 08:34

Morning all. I finally weighed in yesterday and have set myself a target of 14 lb loss by October school holidays. I also have a wedding this weekend but after that the kids will be back at school and I will be ON IT.
