It feels like a life time ago I joined a mumsnet thread when I was obease and in my mid twenties.

With support from that thread, 100 in jokes and a patented claim to being "The best thread on mumsnet" TM I lost 6 stone.

Then life, babies, the pandemic and a million other things happened and I am dangerously dancing with being overweight again.

If any one new or old would like to join me in my new mumsnet weight loss journey I'll be here, any mode any method any size I am happy for the company.

Definitely on - didn’t see the thread a bit late to the party
sw 76.4kg (14 aug)
tw 63 kg
by the end aug goal 71 (maybe a bit unrealistic !)

Hyppogriff · 27/08/2023 09:33

2 kids and recently seen myself in a few photos and was a bit horrified and didn’t recognise myself in some!
signed myself up for a half marathon in oct so need to lose some to make it a bit easier on my poor body to get around too!
have realised that although all the running I do must help in some way and helps with my mindset, it’s the eating that really makes a difference to me so that’s what I’ve started on 14 aug is trying to change that and I’ve already noticed a difference though on holiday this week so no scales !!!
how long do you think it takes to make a proper difference ?!

Hyppogriff · 27/08/2023 09:36

@ayegazumba that’s a huge loss for one week well done !!!!

Hyppogriff · 27/08/2023 09:52

I’ve enjoyed reading through the thread and all your stories.
I would be interested in trying to lose it for good - like some others I’ve had a habit in the past to go in hard and lose quite a bit for a while then something in life comes along and I lose focus and then I think to hell with it and go back to my old ways and think there’s no point in trying anymore ! Need to break the cycle.
When I’m at home I am going to try to weigh in every morning as it keeps me focussed (though do find it depressing when some days you put on even after a healthy day!)
My kids are nearly 3 and 5 so I can’t blame the baby weight anymore - but definitely can blame life churn and job meaning I never prioritise my health / appearance like I used to!

PetitPorpoise · 27/08/2023 11:09

@Hyppogriff my kids are the same age as yours and I work full time so definitely can't blame the baby weight! I do think that when they are still so dependent it makes it hard to find headspace for ourselves.

If you're weighing every day and like data, I can recommend an app called Happy Scale that is designed for this and shows your overall trends. Daily weighing works best for me too but I have to say that I've been too scared to face facts for the last couple of weeks. Trying to have a good couple of weeks and weigh in on Sept 1st I think.

Hyppogriff · 27/08/2023 13:01

thanks I’ll check it out - currently just logging it all on health app so far. I was the same - took me months to be able to brave what the scales told me !!!

SushiSuave · 27/08/2023 20:42

Hi all, just checking in! I went well off track Friday and Saturday. My period is due and my appetite and craving for carbs and sugar always rockets at this point in the month. And it was payday so we had a takeaway. But I've been back on track today and went for my evening walk again tonight after 2 days off which has made me feel better. Not sure I'll have lost this week and due to weigh in the morning but we shall see. 1 more week off before I'm back to work and I'm hoping I'll feel a difference in my work clothes and they won't be so tight!

SushiSuave · 28/08/2023 09:18

Well I've only lost 1lb this week which is disappointing, but I am generally heavier the week of my period so I'm hoping for a bigger loss next week. And I guess I should be glad I still lost despite the Indian takeaway, giant wotsits and chocolate orange buttons!

On a side note - I used to buy the Aldi chocolate brownie protein icecream as it is only 350cal for the whole tub. I've bought again this week and they've changed the recipe - it is so creamy and delicious, I would definitely recommend if you have a sweet tooth!

OH just made chocolate brownie for him and DS and it smelled divine! So I heated up an Aldi fibre one dupe and it worked really well! Definitely worth a try. But I also tried the Aldi protein chocolate pudding and it was gross! Weird aftertaste and kind of chalky. Definitely prefer the choc pots and they are cheaper.

pickledandpuzzled · 29/08/2023 07:20

@Hyppogriff I weigh every day, but without expectation- I know it will go up and down a bit, but I'm looking for trends. Going up a day or three is fine, as long as it goes down again as well.

I made plum jam using xylitol instead of sugar. It's really good. I'm keeping it in the fridge in case, but it won't be stored that long as I can afford to use it, as it's so fewer calories than regular jam.

We're on holiday now, so big breakfast and no lunch is the usual pattern.

Hyppogriff · 29/08/2023 07:35

Well done on your loss @SushiSuave ! We’re away this week - no scales eek!! Trying to run and stay sensible and just not put on this week and that will hopefully be enough not to throw me off the wagon.

yeh agree with that @pickledandpuzzled - I only record my weight each week on my notes though I do enter it in each day to my app. Hoping that will allow me to see it in terms of trends rather than daily changes!

hard not to drink on hols when family / hubby open the wine - but so far managing to reign in the crisp- Armageddon that usually follows!!

TVHubbyClaire · 29/08/2023 08:50

Good morning everybody

Disappointing scales reading of 12st 10 this morning having been 12st 8 on Thursday. A weekend of socialising and eating has not helped...🙁

Surprisingly my office clothes feel slightly more comfortable than they did last Tuesday which i didn't expect.

A couple of good days are planned so hopefully I might see a better scales result later in the week. 🙄

Would be good to start September at 12st 8

BitOutOfPractice · 29/08/2023 09:10

Morning all. Feels like a Monday doesn’t it?

Ive been Glamping this weekend. Many many camp fire treats and booze so I dare not step on the scales this morning. Is am back on it though today. Have. Clear run till the weekend so I must have laser focus!

have a great “start” to the week Slenderistas!

PetitPorpoise · 29/08/2023 09:36

Got up some courage and stepped on the scales yesterday. Really disappointed to see that I've gained 6lbs since May. My trends over the last few years show that the summer is a bad time for me, and I haven't managed to buck that trend this year. It's the lack of routine and craziness that does it.

I'm considering paying myself £10 for every pound I lose and using that to book a facial when I lose the 7lbs, which will put me in the next stone bracket.

Thankfully DH is on board with the no UPF eating which is really helping me at the moment.

needtofatoff · 29/08/2023 09:45

I think i was on the old thread but can't remeber which user name. I had another baby and put it all back on. Have at least 5 stone to lose.

FireflyGirl · 29/08/2023 12:08

I also weigh every day, which records on one app on my phone, then I enter my weight once a week on MFP. It helps me keep on track whilst also identifying trends.

At the end of my first week, when I have had a calorie deficit of 3200, I have lost... Drumroll please... -2lbs. Yep, I've acquired two Linda's 🙄 This happens every time, so I'm not too disheartened, but it's still bloody annoying.

Morning everyone,

Congrats on all the losses 👍🌻 I managed to weigh in on Monday morning but didn't get chance to hop on here to post. Another 1kg loss which I was really pleased with and surprised by. Going for another kilo gone this week 🤞. Milk supply seems to be fine still thankfully - DS is definitely working to keep it up by feeding allllll the time! A 1.1kg loss would see me reach the first half a stone gone, which would be very reassuring with the postpartum bridesmaid duties on the horizon so as close to that as possible is my goal for next Monday! Trying to remain determined but the lack of sleep is making it a bit of a battle 😴😴😴

@HairsprayBabe thanks so much! You were right - looks like there was some water retention going on and I also have a measurable difference after a bf. That hadn't occurred to me. I drink loads through the night now I'm breastfeeding so it's all probably a bit trickier to keep track of. Hope you're having a good week so far 😊

Hope you're all having a good week so far. I'm enjoying all the inspiration of seeing what ppl are eating because I'm perpetually stuck for ideas! 🌻

I wondered if they'd changed the recipe! I don't remember thinking it was very good the first time I tried it and now we have it (and the other two flavours!) all the time 😊🍫 I put cacao nibs on it to give a chocolate chip type crunch and it's delicious!

pickledandpuzzled · 30/08/2023 08:18

I'm enjoying all the products suggested! I had the lemon cheesecake inspired Aldi protein pud recently . Yum.

It's big breakfast time here- scrambled eggs and salmon on toast.

We won't have lunch, but might have fish and chips for tea, if we find some at the right time!

HairsprayBabe · 30/08/2023 08:38

I have had a shocker of a weekend, my paternal grandparents came down for the bank hol and my grandma is a FEEDER lord 4 days off the wagon too scared to weigh so i am fasting to day and praying to the slender gods that it hasn't done too much damage

SushiSuave · 30/08/2023 09:21

I'm not doing too well either - anxiety has been high the last few days which makes me rubbish at looking after myself and I've lost all motivation for the diet :(. Also taking DS to McDonald's today for an end of summer treat. I'm giving myself today off but will try again tomorrow.

Hyppogriff · 30/08/2023 13:37

i also had a treat night last night - out for dinner and went for steak and chips! But managed to drag myself out for a hilly run this morning. Dreading weighing in when we get back home Saturday morning though!!!

sounds like we may need some mid summer re-boot mojo!!

BitOutOfPractice · 30/08/2023 13:43

come on girls! We’ve got to keep that motivation going just so we can come on this thread with a straight face.

I had a golden day yesterday and today Is looking good too but I still haven’t managed to get to the gym. Can you all give me a telling off and make me go on my way back from my client meeting. Stern looks and harsh words welcome

Hyppogriff · 30/08/2023 13:54

Get to the gym on your way home you’ll feel much better after !
what’s a golden day?

Limonatamum · 30/08/2023 14:25

Good shout @BitOutOfPractice - positivity is key!
I’m down 6 lbs!!
that MOH dress is quite the motivation, it now does up!!
