It feels like a life time ago I joined a mumsnet thread when I was obease and in my mid twenties.

With support from that thread, 100 in jokes and a patented claim to being "The best thread on mumsnet" TM I lost 6 stone.

Then life, babies, the pandemic and a million other things happened and I am dangerously dancing with being overweight again.

If any one new or old would like to join me in my new mumsnet weight loss journey I'll be here, any mode any method any size I am happy for the company.

I'd love to join you @HairsprayBabe - thank you!

grangegrove · 11/08/2023 15:32

I really need to do this. Two babies (5 years apart) and a lack of effort to lose the weight in between means I’ve been overweight for half a decade.

Current weight: 12st 5
Goal weight: 9st 7

I am away on holiday for another week though.

Cocteautriplet · 11/08/2023 15:35

Yes please - I’m in a mission to lose 5 stone from 17 st plus down to 12.5 st. Been doing alternate day fasting since July 1st and currently down to 16st 3lbs.

pixienewbie · 11/08/2023 15:35

I'm in. Not idea of current weight as I have the fear. Would love to be 9st 10lb.

pixienewbie · 11/08/2023 15:36

@Cocteautriplet how does alternate day fasting work?

Annoyingnamechangerperson · 11/08/2023 15:37

Can I join too please just started today so perfect timing 😁

ayegazumba · 11/08/2023 15:40

Count me in too. Had a baby 4 weeks ago and plan to start weight watchers on Tuesday when my DH goes back to work. It's worked for me before and it's so straightforward to follow I just thought I'd do it again. Weighed myself for the first time since pregnant and I'm 13st 3 Shock. Goal is to get back to pre baby weight of 10st 7 - give or take. Can't believe I put on 3st in 10 months!

HairsprayBabe · 11/08/2023 15:43

ah lovely lovely so nice to meet you all!

@AtomHeartMotherOfGod
welcome welcome, do you have any goals or methods you opt for - i am very of the opinion that different things work for different people, I do a lowish carb combined with intermittent fasting thing of my own invention and that keeps me fairly on track!

@grangegrove I had 2 in 18 months the first mat leave was in lockdown so didn't fair too badly the second was not and I have had far too many marks and spencer cake and coffee dates to mention - I've swapped to my stretcheist dresses but even they are not looking good - I must do something before I have to buy a whole new wardrobe!

@Cocteautriplet congratulations that is a great start, I always find starting is the hardest part, I love IF do you do 5/2 or another version?

@pixienewbie the fear is the absolute worst! I went 6 months avoiding the scales after my second - I should have just bit the bullet and gone for it!

Cocteautriplet · 11/08/2023 15:45

@pixienewbie I fast every other day only having tea, coffee, water and a bed time cup of hot milk. I then eat pretty much what I want the next day. I lost 3 stone doing this in 2019 but then fell pregnant and put on tons of weight which I’m now trying to tackle. It works for me as I’m a bit all or nothing but I can’t stand feeling deprived for an extended period of time .. I can do will power in 24 hour doses😅.

WILTYjim · 11/08/2023 15:45

Can you join if you haven’t just had a baby? I’m 5st overweight and have to face the woman who’s trying to ruin my life in court in 6 weeks.

She’s been sending me abuse about my weight for over a year now. I can confirm it has not motivated me one jot.

HairsprayBabe · 11/08/2023 15:45

@Annoyingnamechangerperson yes of course welcome welcome the more the merrier! what is your method?

@ayegazumba i wish i had done this with my kids everyone said oh wait heal blah but i just ate cake on mat leave and that did more damage than the babies ever bloody did!

@HairsprayBabe thank you 😊

poorpaws · 11/08/2023 15:47

Hi @HairsprayBabe

I'm on a different thread cos everyone left so Slenderisters disbanded. It's "Diet failed again" which I started and it's still going. Looks like you've got loads of company here already.

I was so sad when it all folded, we had a great load of people. I'm STILL battling with my weight, yo-yoing all the time.

I hope you're ok, I can remember you getting married and now you've got two kids I believe. Wow how time flies.

Wishiwasatailor · 11/08/2023 15:49

My baby is 9 weeks can I join? No idea what my starting weight is just hoping to feel (and look) better in my clothes. Going to be aiming for 5 veg a day 2 pints of water and a daily walk

SearchingTheSkies · 11/08/2023 15:56

Yes please! I had a baby 4 months ago and have piled on weight from eating sugary stuff over night to give me the energy to cope with all the feeds. I'm so annoyed with myself for letting it go on this long, but I'm now on day 3 of calorie counting and hope to lose around 4 stone by the time I return to work in March. Not weighed properly yet so will update with stats soon.

HairsprayBabe · 11/08/2023 15:59

@poorpaws I missed the company of the old thread too it was such a lovely bunch, sorry to hear about the yoyoing but glad you have found a new gang!
Yes 2 under 2 insanity! DS is three now and DD is 18mo so I am being sneaky at calling it baby weight its really mat leave cake weight!

@Wishiwasatailor I so wish I could put more emphasis on NSV I'm so numbers driven - probably terrible for my brain! I absolutely need to get more steps in i think i average about 12 steps a day when i am at my desk! home working is the devil!!

@WILTYjim yes of course! welcome welcome - strictly speaking my baby is now 18mo so I am stretching the definition of "baby weight" for sure! That lady sounds very scary! I would lose weight for hate either its not what drives me, in fact i would likely eat more cake through spite!

First challenge for me. Cut the alcohol.

ayegazumba · 11/08/2023 16:04

@HairsprayBabe I've got no choice, I have no clothes that for that aren't maternity! And none for this weather so need to get it off asap. Plus I feel pretty shit looking I the mirror so would rather not delay the inevitable

Pancakebatter · 11/08/2023 16:06

I will join you. I am 13 stone 3 and need to get down to 9 stone 6! I just cannot get started or motivate myself.

Hell to the hell yes I’m here!!

TVHubbyClaire · 11/08/2023 16:40

@HairsprayBabe @poorpaws

Hello to you both, what a delight to receive a notification...thanks Hairspray

The slenderistas helped me so much and we had a lovely group.

I definitely need to lose , not sure i will hit the usual 7 Linda target this month but will definitely appreciate the advice and motivation

Lots of changes for all of us I'm sure and i am no different

Target is 11st 2 or even something beginning with a 10 , been too scared to get on scales in last few months...eek

poorpaws · 11/08/2023 16:47

@BitOutOfPractice and @TVHubbyClaire <waves frantically> so lovely to hear from you both again. I can't remember what I weighed when we disbanded but I think I'm a little less now, or maybe that's wishful thinking. TVHubby someone will be along very soon to ask about a Linda 😉 but I know 😂

@HairsprayBabe if it's ok with you I'll tag along here as well as my thread. I don't want to miss any gossip from my old pals.

This has made my day!

HairsprayBabe · 11/08/2023 16:49

@aayegazumba it's hard, pregnancy hits us all so differently, I had HG so didn't gain much but it was bloody miserable, I wish you luck in your journey and I am glad to have you with us!

@BitOutOfPractice @TVHubbyClaire so happy to see you both, it's been too long!
